Worst hotel stay ever. I had originally booked a 3-night stay with my family, but we couldn't even make it past the first night and had to leave the very next day.

The Rooms: In terrible condition, poorly maintained, and dirty.

The Bathrooms: Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Words can't even describe how bad they were.

The Bedding: The worst part of all. My entire family started itching almost immediately after getting into bed because of the filthy sheets.

The Service: Abysmal. The staff showed zero customer service or care for their guests' well-being.

Do yourself a favor and do not book this hotel. It was a complete nightmare and ruined our trip. We checked out after 24 hours and never looked back.

My room, particularly the bathroom, was in a state of disrepair. For a seven-night stay, housekeeping only cleaned it once. The trash cans on the floor were consistently overflowing, and towels were left outside the rooms for most of the day and night. Upon checking in, the staff was unpleasant and unhelpful. To top it off, when my mom called to report an alligator in the parking lot, which was underneath my vehicle when I tried to leave, the hotel staff person seemed annoyed and hung up on her three times.

Great hotel overall — well located, clean rooms, good breakfast. But three stars because of a real gap for a hotel next to a convention center: there’s no business center. The only option is a table by the lobby, which is consistently noisy — not workable for calls or focused work.

That gap became a real problem when I needed extra time for work calls and was told late check-out would cost extra. Charging for one more hour of quiet, in a hotel with no proper workspace to begin with, was disappointing.

I recently stayed at the Hilton in Gainesville and had a mixed experience.

The hotel itself is beautiful, very well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and I had a nice view of the city. One of my favorite features was the lovely courtyard with a beautiful tree surrounded by mature trees draped in Spanish moss, which created a peaceful and inviting atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the property. The front desk staff were not very attentive or welcoming. Both at check-in and check-out, they seemed bothered to assist me rather than providing a friendly greeting or making me feel like a valued guest.

I also had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, and the experience was disappointing. The service was slow and inattentive, especially considering the high prices. The coffee tasted old and muddy, which was an unpleasant start to the day.

On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently located just a short drive from many excellent restaurant options, making it easy to find better dining nearby.

Overall, I would recommend the hotel for its attractive accommodations, comfortable rooms, and convenient location. However, I hope management focuses on improving customer service, as a more welcoming and attentive staff would make a significant difference in the overall guest experience.

Spacious room. The sink had issues. It filled with dirt on two separate occasions for no explainable reason. I was moved to a different room where the A/C unit was incredibly noisy. But I still slept OK.

The bar and lounge area is a lot of fun. Very nice bartenders.

The pool is dated and needs a renovation. The concrete inside the pool is full of holes.

The whole hotel looks like it could use a coat of paint and maybe some simple upgrades.

Good value for the price paid and great location to University of Florida.

Free parking is a PLUS!

The rooms are good enough. bathrooms seriously need a reno. I was informed by the front office staff that Hilton is a franchise so if you’re an honors gold member there are no perks except the daily food credit.

They need to put a cover on the box springs. It’s stained yellow and pretty gross. I’ve stayed here 3 times because it’s close to the college campus but I think this is my last time. The No Name Bar was good and the staff are nice but the front office staff is wildly different from Hiltons I’ve stayed at shouting “next!” Instead of “welcome to Hilton”, “thank you for being a Hilton Honors member” like the other Hiltons. I felt like I was inconveniencing them by asking simple questions.

I love staying here, but it’s really starting to show its age. I especially like that it is a by itself, and with open parking. And Shula’s is always great! The food, the staff and the other patrons are always wonderful! But the bathroom in particular, was disappointing. The shower was dripping so there was standing water in the tub that never drained, even after I stopped the drip, leaving a musty smell. Evidence of rust, too. The floor was not well cleaned - there was a contact lens stuck to it.
Another disappoint for me, as someone who always leaves very early, is that there is no “lobby” coffee anymore. I tried to use the room coffee, but the creamers were bad, and you can’t tell until you put them in your coffee and see the curdled mess. I had to dump out the cup. I’m hoping they update/refresh some things in the future.

We recently stayed at the Hilton University of Florida Hotel and had an overall pleasant experience. The location is excellent and convenient to everything we needed during our visit. The property is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming, and the front desk staff were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. Check-in and check-out were both quick and seamless, which made traveling with family much easier. We also enjoyed the breakfast options, which were delicious and offered a nice variety.

The one disappointment during our stay was housekeeping. We stayed multiple nights with two teenagers and returned to our room expecting it to be serviced, only to find unmade beds, used towels on the bathroom floor, and the room generally untouched. We were never informed at check-in that daily maid service was not provided or that housekeeping needed to be requested. While I did not contact the front desk to inquire or complain, I was disappointed by the lack of communication regarding this policy, as it would have helped us set expectations and make arrangements accordingly.

Overall, this is a nice hotel with a great location, friendly staff, and comfortable accommodations. With clearer communication about housekeeping services, our stay would have been even better.

We stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past and it was always a pleasure. But this time the room we were offered was terrible. Sink was clogged, carpet on the window side of the room was soaking wet and TV had a vertical line in the middle of the screen the whole time. When we complained, reception desk sent a maintenance guy and he unclogged the sink working on it like 20 minutes. And he told me the carpet is wet because of the AC drain leaking. He brought a huge fan (it was noisy) to dry the carpet after working on the AC unit, but the carpet was wet for the rest of our stay. He also had to move the furniture to place the fan. And he said the hotel ordered new TV units but of course it doesn't help at all. We were not offered another room (or a refund). The whole thing was really inconvenient for us. I can easily say; this property has started showing it's age and for our next trip to Gainesville we are planning to stay some other place.

I arrived at the hotel at 4:30 pm expecting to have a room ready. After waiting in line for 1 hour, the staff informed me they had 18 uncleaned rooms. They told they would call or text me when the hotel room was ready. Hours went by…. And no call or text. I even tried calling the front desk 4x with no answer. I was traveling with a dog, and had to book another hotel 4 miles down the road to accommodate my dog. I traveled 200 miles to see Morgan wallen and I wasn’t even able to catch the entire show on time or check into this hotel…. On the night of my anniversary. I was charged $700 for absolutely nothing. And I had to spent an additional $700 at another hotel… An absolute disgrace of a hotel and horrible communication from the staff. As a Hilton gold member I am livid and will be making a a formal complaint to Hilton directly.

Pros:
The staff are really accommodating, respectful, and responsive—they’re great.

Cons:
The only issue I had was with the room sink. It was making noises at night, and I woke up to what looked like it had overflowed, leaving a lot of dirt/mud in the sink, which was pretty unpleasant. Also, my key card didn’t work a couple of times, so I had to go back to the lobby—even while carrying a heavy bag—which was really inconvenient. This happened twice already during my stay, especially frustrating after working long 13-hour shifts and just wanting to rest.
