Beautiful hotel located close to train station & walking distance to restaurants & attractions. The garden & pool area are very nice. But I don’t consider this a 5 star hotel. On the day we checked in, we were given key to room 442. A big room with a mountain view, a large closet & bathroom with tub & shower. We left to explore, when we came back at night we noticed an awful smell in the hall & the door to our room was open (not unlocked but open). We called the front desk to ask what happened they said it was the person who did the turndown service left it open. Not ok. After checking to make sure our stuff was all there we went to the garden to see if the smell would dissipate. We went back an hour later but the smell was awful. It smelled like sewage. We went downstairs to discuss with front desk, the woman there told us she couldn’t go upstairs to check on the issue but she could give us another room. She gave us a smaller room facing the street & we took it cause we couldn’t deal with the smell. I thought this was a new issue but after reading Google reviews people have complained of the smell going back to 2022. I shared my frustration with her & she seemed surprise that this was an issue. That is gaslighting if people have complained for years. Once in the new room I jumped into the shower, only to realize the soap dispenser was empty. Bad smell, door left open & lack of toiletries are reasons I wouldn’t consider this 5 stars.

When we arrived to the property, the hotel it was nothing as described in pictures. Rooms were a disaster, Hôtel corridor dirty, nothing to be with a 5 stars - the hotel it’s old, dirty, rooms ugly and mattress and furniture in the rooms damaged.we decided to cancel and look for another hotel. We end up staying at the Excelsiur Hôtel, much better hotel

We stayed at the Villa Medici for 3 days and had an amazing time. The hotel is centrally located in Florence and convenient to the train station (10 min walk). Its also a historic property - I believe it was once a monastery and has been lovingly restored. It has everything you need including a pool and great restaurant. It also has an amazing staff who are extremely helpful and courteous. Also, the breakfast buffet was amazing - especially when traveling with 4 kids who appreciated being able to choose their own items. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to Florence.

Although the hotel was very nice, the service was just terrible. Room service, housekeeping (needed an iron and they couldn’t find one), bar service at Henry’s bar was all incredibly slow and really bad.

We had an exquisite time in Florence in great part to staying at the oasis which is Villa Sina Medici. Each day after enjoying a busy and evenf day of exploring the treasure chest of history that is Florence we would return to Villa Sina Medici, find a lounge in the shade, and swim in the pool to rejuvenate ourselves. The staff could not have been more kind. The hotel lobby includes several beautifully appointed living areas for resting, reading, conversation, and cocktails. I will stay there anytime I return to Florence. Thank you to everyone at Villa Sina Medici for making our time in Florence perfecto!

Beware Premium rooms

Location was good, and having a garden and small pool was great. Otherwise it was all pretty average - a tick in the box but nothing special. Only issue was Premium rooms - we paid for Premium (highest bracket and notionally in the top floor with best views) only to be told that the hotel website was wrong and that Premium rooms were on every floor. The top floor room they offered for second and succeeding nights was smaller with single sink and shower attachment over the bath. Frankly I was left with the feeling that ‘premium’ applied only to pricing - don’t bother.

This is not a 5 star property. This hotel pictures are misleading and compared to other 5 star hotels in the area. The hotel price is too high for it's value. I felt I was in a 3 star or a 4 star hotel and I did not feel safe at the hotel.

Very mediocre - 5 star…not so much

We came to stay at our honeymoon and it was just fine. We hoped for excellent service due to our special occasion and no one did anything or gave us perks. At first I thought it was a cultural thing, which is completely understandable, but when we went to our hotel in Milan they showered us and celebrated. Also claiming to be 5 star is an overstatement. It was the bare minimum to be qualified. I would say 3.5/4 star if anything. Plus there was construction going on in the pool area which made relaxing a little distracting and the pool isn’t heated, so be advised when booking off season. The people there are nice, we just hoped for more of an effort due to the special occasion.

It is a beautiful old hotel and I stayed there to follow a path my parents took in the 50’s. The Sini hotel group is supposed to be amazing. I found it average. But you forget differences in Europe and America. It wasn’t that clean. The people were nice. It is in an ok location and taxis come fast. Food sub par. It was underwhelming.

Bathroom smells drainage, room 444 has a broken hook of manual shower, a person over 150 pounds doesn’t fit inside the shower, you either shower with one hand to avoid hitting the wall water faucet, bathroom door lock didn’t work, breakfast is poor like 2 stars hotel, the supervisor of breakfast room picked his nose more than 3 times within 5 minutes, just duty place I wanted to throw up, AND offers to use the CAR forget it!!! Your times or schedule is never the same as the hotel. 1st time in my life’s vacations with a very bad experience.

Beautiful Hotel, slight walk to destinations

The hotel is very nearby the train station (walking distance) which is convenient. However, it is a bit of a walk from the city center / tourist destinations. It is still within walking distance, however, they do offer a shuttle (during certain hours) to a main palazzo to make the stay more pleasant. There were a few streets that I didn't love to walk past to get to / from, however I was never in danger. There are little food options nearby, but what I did find was good.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The lobby, service, breakfast, room, views etc were spectacular and were above and beyond what was expected. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you want the cleanliness, comfort and safety with your stay. The only slight downfall is the location to Florence's \"hot spots\".

We stayed at this hotel several years ago and loved it so we're excited to return. The hotel has definitely not keep up with time. The outside grounds were in poor condition. The service was not good. When we arrived at the hotel at 12:30 for a 2:00 check in time we were told to come back at 5:00 and if our room was still not ready that they would put us in a temporary room until our room was ready. It was a very disappointing experience overall.

An Oasis.

This lovely hotel is staffed with cheerful professionals (including the exacting maids that clean the room twice a day), maintained impeccably and has a gorgeous outside pool with immaculate chaise lounges (coverings are changed immediately when vacated) and poolside food and beverage service of the highest degree.
We knew the location was a walk to the Duomo, but lovely shops and restaurants are along the way and there is a free car service offered that needs just 10 minute notice.
I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return in the future.

Many points that we didn't like.first our room we had allocated was a connecting room so we can hear everything the next door were saying,then we been given a room half the size and in need of modernisation.we even had to pay for water ,which most hotels give it complimentary.one day breakfast was €41 ,the next day was €72 .my husband and I had exactly the same breakfast each day.i think they should take an example from the excelsior,which is amazing.i don't think that villa Medici can call itself 5 star because is got slot of work before it gets there.

Our stay at Villa Medici wonderful. The staff was incredibly attentive and gracious. The pool was a relaxing oasis at which to cool down between our morning and late afternoon adventures...when the lounge chairs filled up the staff always produced more. The hotel was close enough to comfortably walk to the historic center but outside of hectic tourist areas. Thank you Villa Medici...every time I walked through the front door I felt like you had been awaiting my return.

During the checkin, because of the Platinum AmEx partner sign, being a Platinum AmEx member, I asked the question if the hotel extends Platinum AmEx benefits to their guests...
I was immediately cut off with a very direct statement - \"You are NOT entitled to anything, you have booked via Expedia. Period!\".
Checking into the room:
In the room 90 degrees. Thermostat is not working. Call to front desk - no, you can not adjust the thermostat.
The bottled water in the room is HOT! Drinks in the little refrigerator- HOT!
Call to the room service/front desk - yes we can bring you cold bottle of water - $15
Opened the balcony to have some fresh air (90 degrees in the room) - two huge bright lights...
With room being hot, wanted to have balcony door open for air, can't turn off balcony lights, room is lit like an operating theater.
Call to the front desk - can you turn the lights off?
No, the light will go off automatically at 2 am - have a good and bright night.
Calling in the morning for coffee... Sir don't forget- check out is at 11am sharp.
Did I mention all this joy was over $400 a night with $50 night parking?!

Villa Medici rather disappointing

We stayed in Florence 2 nights. This well regarded hotel was disappointing. Location was clear from the details but rather out of the centre, notwithstanding the free courtesy transport morning and evening.
Even in November it was hot. Aircon promised in the details didn't work, we were told the hotel didn't have any. We asked 3 times for a portable fan then gave up. The promised swimming pool we were told was cold by a member of staff so we didn't try it. Breakfast was provided but very expensive.
At least Florence itself was awesome and we'll go again, but not to this hotel.

The Hotel was truly beautiful! Our room was very nice but the only drawback was that our bed was two twin beds pushed together to make a king with a king headboard but made up into twin beds. Not exactly what we were thinking of. The location of the hotel was ok. It took a bit of a walk to get to some decent restaurants.

I stay in Florence every month for business and I always try a new hotel.
Grand Hotel Villa Medici is the 10th and so far the best BUT it does not mean it deserves 5 stars!!!
It is not the best for the breakfast buffet... only a selection of chewy industrial breads + packaged portions of cheap \"President\" butter + apple tart with soggy pastry (at 8am) + average quality coffee served in a teapot and plastic-covered-Ibis-style dining chairs.
Liked the building itself, the entrance hall and its decoration, the bar area, the efficiency of hotel staff and care given by bar staff and the location.
I will probably go back.

Great welcome on arrival, we were advised that our room was upgraded which was nice, although I had booked a room with pool view we were given a higher spec room on the ground floor facing the street- closing curtains when changing and hearing the tram passing were the negatives for this room. Room service menu prices were obscene - 18euro for a ham & cheese sandwich, doesn't matter how nice a hotel is this type of charging really takes away from the hotel. Overall great service, food was very good, very nice atmosphere.

Very quiet hotel with great service. Florence is small and walkable and this hotel had good access to everything, not in the heart, but close enough to get anywhere withing 10-20 minutes of walking. Concierge was friendly and helped with good local restaurants plus getting tickets for Accedemia museum to see original statue of David (a must in Florence).

Nice downstairs, room very outdated. Tub leaked profusely on floor, where we couldn't use it one day, (reported twice, did not get fixed) and whirlpool didn't work either. Cost was not justified. Was also charged three times for stay, had to fight with hotel corporate office to get pre-auth charges removed (even after room bill was paid for).

The room and hotel facilities were excellent. The desk clerks and concierge were helpful and friendly.

There is a beautiful, but small, swimming pool in the courtyard of the hotel and dining and a lounge looking out into this beautiful area. The common facilities are extensive, comfortable and very well done.

The staff is excellent and the dining facility serves first rate for lunch and dinner. The wait staff was excellent as well.

The hotel had an Italian feel and pride -- in part, because it is Italian owned and run and not part of an international corporate chain.

I recommend this hotel unequivocally.

A totally enjoyable stay, especially good if you want to be just outside the centre (10 min stroll) but close to the station for trips to Pisa or other places nearby. Lovely hotel, near to the centre.

Great location, easy walk into the centre of Florence. Loved the pool after a hard day sightseeing. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great Location in Firenze

The staff was excellent, room very large and bathroom was giant as Europe goes. The facilities were nice, however, nothing really to do in the evening after a long day walking the sites of Florence. The bar area seemed old, and needs some outside bar entertainment. Although plenty of entertainment nearby. I stay here again.

It was ok, but a little disappointing since they are an American Express fine hotel and resort. Wasn't what I was used to with that seal of approval. I believe it fell below that threshold.

Enjoyed our stay. The property is a bit dated. The service was excellent, and the concierges made the stay! They made great dinner recommendations, museum tickets, and even went to the airport to pick up our lost luggage. These guys are great on all three shifts.
We celebrated our anniversary with them and the GM sent a nice note and bottle of champagne to celebrate with.
First class operation.

Very good

Attentive staff, food a bit pricey but very tasty, good location. Would go back and stay there again whenever I am in Florence. Swimming pool could do with a bit of a clean but generally I cannot fault this hotel.
