Room wasn't clean. Floor wasn’t properly swept. Could hear other people in the room across from me and through the walls. Fire alarm was randomly pulled out of nowhere on my third night of staying. 2nd and 3rd floor hallways smell like cigarettes. Sometimes found bugs out of nowhere. There was some type of mess outside someone’s room and it was never cleaned. Honestly the whole stay was awkward for me. I never wanted to go outside my room at all for anything whatsoever. The smell was unbearable and the cleanliness of the place was so bad. I wouldn’t recommend any to stay here, especially with any kids or friends.

Spend the 20$ extra and stay at one of the other 5+ places next door. Main hall was so bad smelling, no clean rooms at 6pm me and 3 other rooms were given a room they were dirty the kid at front desk was really nice and did everything he could to get things right but housekeeping you need to hire, roaches in bathroom. Just bad experience all around.

I didn't like nothing the property was dirty, my room was unclean, roaches running everywhere, black mold in the room. Tile missing on the floor, the mirror was hanging off the wall at the sink, look like somebody started maintenance on the room and never finished it and tried to run it out to me for a week. The regional manager was there I spoke to him he knew about the roaches he knew about everything that was going on and they still charged me for 2 days. I have pictures that I will be posting on Facebook Instagram all social media needs to know. The carpet was never vacuumed smells like mildew. I would never stay there again nor will I advise anybody else to stay there. Everybody but one young guy should be fired from that property, all the housekeeping should be fired the regional should be fired and and anybody working at the front desk other than the Young guy with the afro should be fired. I will also reach out to code enforcement in South Carolina and show them the pictures, absolutely unacceptable. I asked the regional for his name and his boss's name he refused to give me that just like Motel 6 has refused to give me that information.

The room was clean the lady at the front was ok til she wasn’t and then she was mean and the rooms had issues one the tv didn’t work so she moved use week she tried to that room wouldn’t open at all the door was stuck then she moved us up stairs and that room was very nice except the fire alarm was broken it beeped and the tv remote wasn’t great sp I called her to explain to her that the fire alarm was broken and she said I’ve accumulated y’all as much as I can, this is it and then she later called me at 1 am to ask me to bring the dolly down to her which I did not do. She woke me up seriously! I would like a refund please, the hotel hall smelled horrible also !!!!

My room has roaches crawling everywhere!! The place stinks of urine nothing smelled clean! We did not stay any longer than the 15 minutes it took us to get checked out which she still didnt do. She wrote a note about us leaving and never checked us out! The gentlemen the next morning when I drove back to check in my cancelation actually helped me get my refund settled they were great!

This place is prime example of you get what you pay for. It ix conveniently located near Carowinds amusement park. You have to turn into the Circle K and use the road behind their car wash to find the building. Lots of parking in parking lot

We booked the room for a quick visit to Carowinds , knowing it wouldn’t be like staying uptown , but thought since it’s right next to the park SURELY it’s decent .
WRONG ! I should have known better since the only entrance is a gas station parking lot.
The lobby had 5 buckets in the center of the front room where you check in . We stayed optimistic as we were in the check in process and the front staff , Myron, was so nice , also very patient with everyone he was helping.

The walls are falling apart. The room floors were sticky and dirty. There was dirt and dust all over the floor around the room. Dirty sheets. Bugs in my room as well as my neighbors. There's a reason this place is dirt cheap y'all.

The mattresses were soft and comfortable. We slept well. However, there were several concerns. I saw 4 roaches and killed 3 of them. One of the beds was very shaky and unstable. The smell in the room was fine but in the first floor hallway it was very musty and had a pungent smell. All the electrical components between the double beds were not functioning (the lights, the electrical outlets and charging portals). We reported it to the front desk after our first night but nothing was repaired. Before the second night we were offered to change rooms but we decided to stay because the outlet in the bathroom worked and we could charge our devices from that one. There was also a leak in the lobby of the front desk area that had buckets and towels on the floor catching the water leaking. It wasn’t repaired during the 3 days of our stay there. Front Desk Staff was nice and polite but maintenance and upkeep needs improvement.

The toilet had splattered poop from the previous occupants, the floor was all sandy, the table had traces of spilled drinks. I had to use my isopropyl alcohol and some cotton ball to clean and disinfect before placing anything on it. I stayed just for a night as a result.

Most \"economy\" motels in this price-range don't have elevators. Even if you book in advance, if you need wheelchair accomodations and can't get a first floor room after you get there, you're simply \"out-of-luck\".

Motel 6 Carowinds has been very good to us over the past several years for never having to worry about any room 1st-3rd floors.

It was almost laughable how run down this hotel was. I paid for a premium room and there was a hole in the sheet rock on the ceiling (the size of a basketball. The curtains had tiny holes in it like it had been shot with a shot gun. The office smells rancid like something died. The hallway smells deeply of wet dog. The room smelled like cigarettes and wet dog. I prepaid for the room and checked in after ten so I stayed but I had to run to the store to get disinfectant, fabric freshener and air freshener. It helped for about an hour. Not to mention the parking lots are not well lit. The bathroom light did not work. When I brought it to the attention of the staff they stated they do not have on site maintenance. The room was so dirty I was scared to take off my shoes. The bed had hair in it like the sheets had never been changed. There was a shirtless guy passed out in the hallway with a forty in his hand. Most ratchet experience I’ve ever had in my life. I was shocked we survived the night. I will never stay at a motel 6 again!

the hotel/property was the worst that i have stayed. I had stayed at another Motel 6 in Charlotte. i had cockroaches on one of the beds. Another dead cockroach in the bathroom. I took a couple of pictures of that. After i checked in and went to the room, there was already someone else in the room. fortuntately, she was in the bathroom but saw her duffle bag with food on teh table and clothes on the bed and tv on. i ran out of the room. the hallway on teh second floor where i finally got another room reeked of cigarette smoke. i will never go back to this or another Motel 6.

We came down for a couple days at carowinds and this is super close. Just drive further. Our room was so dirty I had to go buy Lysol and Clorox wipes just to feel comfortable enough to lay my stuff down. There was lots of visible dirt and dead bugs. Would not recommend this hotel no matter how cheap it was.

Very disappointing experience – not recommended

I arrived at the hotel late at night/early morning after a long trip, only to be told at check-in that my reservation had been canceled. I was never notified in advance—no call, no email, no message of any kind.

This was extremely frustrating and unprofessional, especially given the hour and the fact that I was exhausted. The staff did not provide a real solution or assistance in finding alternative accommodations.

This situation is unacceptable for a hotel. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone looking for reliable lodging.

Wonderful front desk staff! Location is walking distance to Carowinds, a few restaurants and near a gas station. It’s a motel 6- you get what you get. Rooms are outdated, sink has beard shavings in it. There was no comforter however I was only there to sleep and shower travelling for work.

Unkempt, beard hair left from shaving in the sink. The room is very institutional looking but you get what you pay for. I’ve stayed in many cheap places but I’d definitely not recommend here. Redeeming qualities- the front desk receptionist was excellent! and it is very dog friendly.

My original room key didn't work, even after 4 attempts to program it, so the young lady at the desk switched me rooms and made sure the key worked. Unfortunately the room was just an emergency backup room due to being fully booked and as such, it wasn't as presentable as other rooms, but it was clean and comfortable.

Was initially sent to a room that didn’t have a latch attached to it as if someone kicked in the door and was not clean. The hotel guest before me had the same issue. If it wasn’t for the amount being non refundable I would’ve left and went to another hotel. Hallways are filthy and the hotel needs serious repairs. I’m not a negative person and normally don’t leave reviews but i wouldn’t stay at this hotel ever in life.

Absolutely disgusting. Dead bugs covering the floors, edges of counters being held on by scotch tape. Dried human blood on the floor.

Spoke with staff about this, they said since I booked through Expedia, I would have to contact them for refund, but the front desk managers (Jayden/Sherron) would be happy to approve my refund to Expedia upon their phone call.

They did not. I lost $120 because of this abominable place, so I will never be recommending this location, hotel chain, or Expedia to anyone, ever.

The state of South Carolina should do an investigation, because I am certain this hotel has more issues than what I just mentioned.

Roaches and earwigs in the room and the hallway smelled like weed. It was so strong it choked you to death. Parking was terrible because there’s only one way in and out of the e building and we were all the way in the back of the hotel so we had to walk the dark parking lot to get in the building.

We arrived at 11pm, my husband waited a while to get check in (front desk was probably in the restroom) once we got the room key we went straight to our room in the first floor, the hallway smelled like weed, the carpet was old and dirty, we opened our room door and I stepped in a medium size bug (still in my shoe sole) we walked in and saw several small bugs crawling on the desk, I put one in a small cup and took it to front desk to show the staff about it. The room door was busted (like somebody kicked it and it was half fixed) we felt very unsafe in that place, other guest walk in with big pit-bull dog jumping all around. The front desk lady Mackenzie was an angel she helped us to get our refund.

This Hotel was very bad. I had a roaches in my room and had to buy cleaning products cause it was filthy. Parking was horrible and scary at night I felt like I needed to be armed going to and from my car. I will never stay there again and all I saved by staying there was $20 dollars I will spend that money and more not to stay there ever agaion.

The made me pay extra for a different room then the one I booked because their cleaning staff didn’t get to it at time. Mind you I checked in at like 10:45 at night. You had all day. Then the sink was literally coming off the wall it felt unsafe to use. The toilet was uneven. The shower, the tub spout almost came off. And the bed was horrible I felt every spring. Then when I left I realized I maybe forgot something. Call them, do you think they answered? Nope. 3 of the phone numbers listed for them didn’t even work

On arrival, receptionist was onnphone. I stood there 5 minutes. Upon getting her attention, she came to desk. She went on to tell me in passive aggressive, condesending behavior, that there is a bell on door and next time to use that instead of \"clearing my throat\"...she proceeded to tell me her name was Jaden. Furthermore, the room I felt was not in best condition. There was a hair in sink, bug on bed...Kudos for having Dish network though....would not recommend this hotel
