This was such a pleasant surprise! I needed to find a hotel in Santa Barbara that wouldn’t break the bank for a Mom on a budget. This was it! The rooms are incredibly clean, like you can smell how clean they are the second you walk in. I’m not talking air freshener, it was legit clean. The staff was incredibly nice, and it said in such a great location. A quick drive to the beach, right on State Street so there’s a ton to do.

There are restaurants, nearby convenient stores, even a dispensary across the street if that’s your jam. We stayed on a ground floor room and we could hear the person above us walking around, but it wasn’t bothersome. I would absolutely stay here again. My kiddos and I didn’t even try out the pool because we spent the entire day at Henry’s beach, which was a straight shot to and from the hotel. Highly recommend!

There were little ants in the bathtub.
The sink in the bathroom was fully in the line of vision from the door. I was concerned that if the door opened while I was washing up, I would be exposed.

It has a very large parking lot contained within the hotel compound. Great for trucks and SUV’s. Has an elevator to second floor. Located within walking distance to many restaurants.

Paint colors on the wall was super depressing — the rooms need to be painted a brighter color not mocha / maroon orange blah
otherwise it was a priced well / nice pool
Great having multiple beds with a seperate a room in one unit — — one more piece of advice for the hotel staff swap out the queen bed with a king bed — & REPAINT THE WALLS A brighter color

Room was not super clean and there was black hairs all over.

My son also left a stuffed animal in the room when we called to verify and have the staff look for it they where not helpful and said they not find it when I know for sure it was left in the room. They stole it for sure which is very disappointing.

As far as what you get for the price is 5 stars on that but that’s all.

The hotel was very well maintained and a great bargain in Santa Barbara. The room was extremely clean and large. The bathroom was very nicely laid out. Breakfast was very convenient and the property was in a great location in town.
The property is older but that didn’t detract from anything during our stay.

Beds are pretty comfy, but sheets are rough. Dark rooms and only a desk chair to sit in. For two people to sit comfortably, need another chair.

excellent place, centric to major tourist attractions, staff is helpful. morning breakfast is good not get you going, especially for little ones. the apartment setting is good for big families and pool is not huge but cozy to relax. parking is tight for big SUV for good for cars and mid-size SUV, will stay there again.

The room was great. It's basic, but the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet and roomy. I did notice there was no fan over the shower, so you had to open the window for a vent. But otherwise, it was all we needed.
Although my husband got his coffee in the breakfast room, we didn't find anything particularly healthy to eat for breakfast. Too much sugar and mostly bread and pastries. The fruit didn't look appetizing for breakfast. We always bring our own food when we stay here.

We’ve stayed here once before and liked it very much. We like the old school vibe, FREE parking, reasonable prices, included basic breakfast. The beds were a little soft for our taste (and comfort) but everything else was fine. We’ll undoubtedly stay here again.

We stayed for two nights to attend a graduation in the area. The staff was lovely and very helpful. The room was clean and well equipped with a fridge and microwave, and a nice sized table with chairs. We had plenty of room in both the bedroom and bathroom. The continental breakfast was just okay, but the coffee and pre-packaged muffin did the trick. The hotel served our purpose wonderfully, and the price was very fair compared to other properties in the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a solo traveler and had a great experience. The hotel is older but very well maintained, and my room was spotless. I felt safe and comfortable the entire stay. Breakfast was basic but totally fine, plus there are plenty of great food options nearby. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy. Would definitely stay again!

The staff is excellent, especially the lady working yesterday when we checked in about 3:30pm. The room was clean; there needs to be small dishes for opened soap (have suggested this before); we were upgraded to a suite (extra room woth 2 beds); our king bed was very firm & uncomfortable. Weve stayed here several times & have not had this firm of a mattress.

The rooms and lobby look nothing like the picture.
The description gave the impression that the room was much larger than it was in reality.

We have stayed here several times and have found the beds to be comfortable with a good mattress and lots of pillows. The other times we stayed, the rooms seemed new and fresh and clean. The room we had this time had an older carpet and a musty smell and was in a corner without a lot of light. Next time we will specify the room we want. The breakfast was not impressive with mostly sugary pastries, cold and hot cereals. There aren't a lot of healthy options except for some fruit. But it met our needs, was quiet, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Good location. Staff (, Sunday morning staff). Appeared to be unaware of the configuration of the rooms. I complained about hearing conversations from the connecting room, they , two young people, didn’t seem to comprehend my displeasure. I gave up and walked away feeling annoyed. So the plastic Cheerios containers had ants. I brought several of these containers back to my room. I didn’t realize there were ants on them, but when I looked at the bottom of them, there were ants how awful.

The kids screaming in the pool was just hideous, and of course, people are going back-and-forth by the door cleaning people not taking care to try and be quiet and kids once again yelling it was quite an awful experience left quite an indelible impression and on my last night there, I just got another hotel room at another place and return the keys and the next day. Just awful. And all the reviews said it was wonderful.,, that’s not true

We hadn't stayed at the Sandpiper Lodge in at least a decade and it seemed to have improved since then. We like the location due to its convenient proximity to Loreto Plaza, Farmer Boy, and (formerly) Jeannine's. I didn't sample the hotel's breakfast, nor the pool, but the coffee was good. My husband went swimming and liked the pool and jacuzzi, especially the latter. Our room (239) was comfortable and convenient to the pool, breakfast room, and office. Our only complaints: there was a construction project happening in the breakfast room and it was noisy and a bit disruptive. Parking spaces are very tight. Staff could be loud in the mornings, especially when slamming the door to the supply room right next to our guest room. As for cleanliness, the bathroom floor seemed questionably clean, but overall our room appeared to be clean. The body wash dispenser in the shower was completely empty, but housekeeping took care of it immediately when we called. Overall, we had a good stay and will consider another stay in the future.
