Located between train station and town. Easy to find from train station. Staff friendly.spacious room. Not a modern room, but it was absolutely fine. Breakfast had a good variety. Continental style but with eggs etc. Lovely vegetarian cafe hust along the road. Would return.

The hotel is in an excellent location - just a few minutes' walk from the Central Station. The area was pleasant but one major disadvantage was the church across the road - every day it rang the bells from 6 am until 9 pm every hour, and played religious songs and Christmas carols for about a minute also every hour between 8 am and 9 pm. If you expect peace and quiet in your room, that's likely to bother you.

Unfortunately, the mattresses were very uncomfortable. Both mornings I woke up at 6-7 with a back pain and had to get up. The shower was good but was leaking (which I've seen mentioned in other reviews in the past so I'm not sure why it hasn't been fixed yet) but housekeeping provided us with an extra towel upon request.

This place has dropped in value compared to other places we have stayed at in Kraków. Cramped room. No coffee or tea in room. The breakfast was OK but only just.

Hotel fair enough for the price. We asked about safe facilities and were told there were none, even though this had been advertised. As we were only staying for 2 nights it was more an inconvenience rather than end of the world. Same with the tv - 1 English channel but reception was patchy.

Very close to the bus and train stations yet only a short walk to the old town. The reception staff were helpful and information and maps were free of charge at the desk. The room was clean and comfortable as was the shower room. The water was always lovely and hot. Breakfast had a good selection of cooked food, cold meat, cheese and salad, cereals and fruit. An excellent place to stay for a short break.

Krakow is a great place to visit but hotel facilities were just ok. Booked double room but were given twin beds and told double beds not guaranteed as they were not always available. Free breakfast was fine if you're an early riser as the diner gets really busy at 9.00am and later. The biggest disappointment was no tea or coffee in the room only a bottle of water. The room was warm and comfortable meaning the free water was also warm! Television in the room did not have any English channels so was worthless to us. We requested early morning call one day for an organised trip but it did not happen. Their website says bar and lounge - there wasn't one. Also spa and wellbeing - no such thing. Threadbare carpet on stairs and really dated decor. However, apart from these negative points the hotel is clean and warm, great location and comfortable rooms.

Booked this hotel mainly because of location. We weren't disappointed: One minute away from the Central Station, with a bus stop around the corner that goes straight to the Wieliczka salt mines and five minutes away from the Rynek. The staff was friendly, the rooms though a bit outdated in style were comfortable and clean. The breakfast offered a wide range of options, from cold cuts to yogurt, cereal, fruit, scramble eggs and sausage. Highly recommended!

The room is a bit old and worn. The shower facilities need renovation. There was no English TV channel. But the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was very good. Close to transport, close to Old Town
We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The room was nice and big and the bathroom (as opposed to the modern rectangular box roomed hotels) was spacious. The one sticking point of our time there was a problem with wifi access. Many of you may dismiss this, and I do realize that internet access is not that important compared to what the city itself had to offer in terms of attractions, but leaving after 5 days without once being able to use this service at the hotel was slightly annoying. Amenities are one of the reasons why people stay at certain places.

Good location. You can comfortably walk there from the station in ten minutes. And the main square is again at most ten minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is on a wide street and there are several cafes where you can sit out. In short, a convenient base for exploring krakow.

Location perfect and altogether a nice hotel
We stayed in one of the few air conditioned rooms, the Deluxe Suite, and the extra money was worth it given the heat. There was a certain amount of deferred maintenance, broken handles and the like, but the room was comfortable and clean and the staff pleasant. The breakfast was okay, but the location was perfect--just outside the Old City, on a Parisian-style square with lovely 19th century buildings, just up the street from two terrific restaurants--including a vegetarian one--and close to the train station and a big mall with a laundry/dry cleaner's and a grocery store. We would happily go back.

If location is all that matters
Location is this place's only selling point. The room furniture was old and tired, the shower was tiny, and I mean to say I've been in bigger phone booths. There was no in-room safe, so had to leave my valuables with reception, which I don't like to do. There was no fridge or coffeemaker/kettle in the room, and the hotel staff refused to provide any ice, so forget about enjoying a drink in your room after a long day of touring. Breakfast was rather limited, i.e. one kind of ham, one kind of cheese, basically one kind of everything, and no sweets, like it must have been in communist times.

Hotel Matejko is located near to the main train station and the main square. Easy to find and close enough to walk to the main attactions. Trips and excursions can be organised from the reception and the tour buses pick you up right from outside the hotel.

Hotel was within walking distance of the main train/bus station. We came in on the train and went out by bus. Very easy to find. The room was very nice decorated in the local design, so heavy drapes. Hotel very attractive Art Deco design. Breakfast was wonderful, large buffet but you need to get in early as they cannot keep up with the demand if you go after 9am. Hotel was within walking distance of the town square where all the action is. Hotel also organised tour to Auschwicz for us, can also do other tours. Overall was a very pleasant few days stay

We were shocked that our room did not have air conditioning. The staff at the front desk did not know if the room had air or not. How can this be? They sent up an electric fan. Krakow was in the midst of a heat wave. Check the fine print on the description. It's a good thing we only needed to stay one night. On the positive side, the buffet breakfast was quite good.

Hotel was ok for the price, parking was possible on the streets and quite easy to find. Hotel location was really good, not quite in old town but really conveniently located. Nice neighbourhood. Breakfast quality was ok, but not on the fancy side. Service was friendly when needed. We had two small dogs with us, and everything was really ok with them as well.

Upon arriving the check was quick and the receptionist very courteous. The room was clean enough but could do with a little updating. There was a bottle of water left on our arrival but this was not replenished. There was also no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The breakfast was a continental buffet with a choice of meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, yogurt and cereals etc. as well as hot dog style sausages and scrambled eggs constantly well stocked by the hotel staff. The location of the hotel was excellent just outside the old city walls by the Barbican on the northern side of the city. The market square was only a 5 minute walk away. In all an excellent hotel in a great location for the money. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel situated perfectly for the old town - but that's the only good thing about it. Breakfasts not the best quality or choice, coffee machine broken most mornings. I checked before travelling and saw suggesstions not to go with a guide to Auschwits as they hurried you and it would be better to go independantly. I totally disagree. Arrived with my brother and given room 101.....was wondering if this was going to be an omen, but how surprised we were ! Room was more than adequate, super clean and tidy. Bottle of water in room and rooms serviced once a day. Perfect location to the main square and just minutes walk from train station and bus station. NO outside noise at night. Breakfast was ideal, all continental style with meats, cheeses, breads and eggs. No bacon but that was ok. Perhaps tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice but i'm just being really pickky on that. I took my English tea bags down to breakfast with me instead and just used the hot water flasks to make my morning cuppa instead. Its all no problem ! The tv in the room had BBC News world service in English but that was it. We were more than pleased with the hotel - hadn't expected much from a 3 star but it totally exceeded my expectations to the point where we will certainly book again and stay here next time. The location is totally ideal. I'd totally recommend staying here.

Very satisfied with our stay rooms very clean and warm, our room was large with separate toilet and washbasin another room with the shower and washbasin then we also had a sauna room as well don't know if this is in every room or not? Our room no 114 was at the back of the hotel so was very quiet, but of course it's winter don't know what it would be like in the summer as it overlooked the hotel courtyard! Breakfast was good something for everyone and plenty of it, they could maybe do with a better toaster a two slice one for a hotel isn't really enough as you had to put it in twice to get it to brown. Prices at the hotel bar good a pint and a glass of wine 17 zloty about £3.30. Hotel couldn't be better situated very close to the old town and the square, the railway and a big shopping centre also we used Krakow city tours for our trips which is only a few yards down from hotel and that's where you get your bus from as well all very handy. Would recommend this hotel.

The shower leaked, there was no bedside table or lamp on one side of the bed but it was clean and tidy and spacious enough.There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which was a shame.
