Prepare to pay astronomically for parking - and for copious \"hotel fees\" in addition to some mysterious 14% tax on parking. 3 days of parking added over $400 to the bill.

The bathtub had several chips in it and the already-annoying half way glass \"shower curtain\" inexplicably had a hole cut out so that the sink would get soaked during a shower along with the floor at the back.

The TV was mounted at a very odd angle downward and could not be viewed from the bed.

The illy coffee is one step above 7-11.

Room was clean and spacious. We had one issue with the mini fridge making a sound and it was resolved by staff quickly. Elevator was fast and the hotel had a nice restaurant and cocktail space. Conveniently accessible to shopping and other touristy spots. Safe!

The room was nice, bed was very comfortable and tv was great. Really nicely re- done/remodeled room but clearly is an older hotel that they did some updates to. My particular room had a bathtub that had seen better days. Extremely small bathroom with no space to put toiletries. Could only fit one person in the bathroom at a time and really no place to put clothing as there was minimal space in the room. No robes or slippers to wear while there either. Options for food are catering to a specific taste. If you want just some regular American fare food that isn’t super fancy this isn’t where you want to eat. Let’s talk about parking. Well, they hire out for parking/valet and it is very expensive. Like $90/night expensive and they charge not from start of when you leave your car there. Starts at check in time even if you didnt arrive at that time.

The location is central to everything and the room rate was good. My takeaway is this- do not bring a car, expect minimal amenities (coffee and coffee maker were so basic we didn’t use it). Bring almost no clothes as there is nowhere to put them unless you live out of your suitcase. Expect no space in the bathroom and expect no place to lay out your toiletries, bring in your items as you need to use them. Most of the staff was lovely. One was very helpful in helping me find alternative parking overnight.

Historic hotel in a good location. Friendly staff. Street noise was prevalent at various hours. Windows could use new double panes. Walls are thin and we were awakened by noisy neighbors at 2:30 am. Security did a good job taking ownership of the situation. Biggest disappointment was the Starlight lounge. Service was incredibly slow...20 minutes after ordering to receive our drinks which were extra light pours especially for a $26 martini where I was charged $3 to have it dirty and $3 upcharge for blue cheese olives...called it a day. Go elsewhere for cocktails.

The hotel was beautiful and staff was very helpful and friendly. Rated good, rather than excellent due to \"urban destination fee/tax which added $41.20/ night. These fees are added after the fact, so you owe at the end of your stay. Would rather see the true and full price \"up front.\"

Also, they skipped cleaning our room one day and even when they did clean, they never changed the sheets ( we were there for 6 nights).

We had to request waters for the room, which also meant that we had to tip each time.

Otherwise, our stay was fantastic...good location and loved the art deco look of the building.

It was fine, but I felt disappointed. I paid for a high floor room with a view and was put on the 12th (out of 20) floor with a very uninteresting view. Not worth extra $$. I was too tired to ask for better and shouldn't have had to. The restaurant is good.

The remodeled hotel is beautiful and the location is very good, right on Union Square. The Post restaurant has a nice happy hour and we had a delicious breakfast there. The room was well appointed and the bedding comfortable.
My only complaint was the room cleaning. They made the beds and cleaned the bathroom as expected but failed to clean the coffee area and replace the complimentary coffee pods and water. When I alerted the front desk they did take care of it promptly.

Hotel is beautiful and well located. It is a little tired and some of the room fixtures are in need of a refresh- bathroom cabinets are water damaged. We also saw moths in our room and the the blinds had holes in them from those too. I’m not sure I felt it was great value for money.
Also on Thursdays there is an awful EDM festival close by which is super noisy and unpleasant. I felt for $400 we would have hoped for a quieter stay- we were on the 20th floor and could still hear it.

The rooms had a bad mouldy or weed smell. Initially we thought we were given a smoking room . Asked for a change and realized all rooms are like that .
They did not give any extra toilet paper . We realized only at midnight when we came back to the room in the night. No one picked up the call at the guest services.
The hallways looked like the hotel is under construction.
The good part was the hotel lobby and starlight lounge.
Would never stay there again.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel was well-maintained and so convenient if you have a business to go to around the area the hotel is so convenient to stay at. Everything is so close. I felt secure and safe during my stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel and I would definitely stay there again if I go back to San Francisco.

The hotel is lovely, with a tasteful and stylish makeover. There are some building works happening at the front, with scaffolding around. The staff are usually helpful and attentive. The location in downtown San Francisco is generally convenient, but it does seem a bit more run down than some other areas of the city, and it is clear that the effects of the drug use and homelessness epidemic are being felt.

Overall it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is in a great location that made it easy to get around. Bartenders were very attentive. Valets were very helpful. The only negative was we were not aware that we were going to be charged an early check in fee or pay almost $100/day to park our larger vehicle. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay.

Great location. As a platinum member we were to be offered a room upgrade but were not. We were to receive two comp drinks and had to return to the front desk and ask for them the next day. Room keys did not work upon arrival and had to wait 20 min in the hall for new keys to be made. TV did not work had to call for service at 10:30pm for service. Body wash while full did not dispense had to call housekeeping for resolution . And finally had a hotel evacuation early am and walk down 12 flights of stairs to find a false alarm. On the positive side the Post lobby bar and food was great and Ansion the bar keep is a real pro and you are lucky to have him on staff !

We overall had a lovely experience at the Beacon Grand. I will say that I was a little underwhelmed by our \"grand room,\" which had a bed and a desk. We ordered room service breakfast for our romantic getaway, and one of us had to eat at the desk facing the wall and the other on the bed. Other than that, it was a lovely hotel.

I loved the location of the hotel. the people were incredibly friendly and helpful. however the additional fees we were charged outside of the regular nightly rate (which was not cheap) made it incredibly expensive and not worth it at all! $80 for valet and a $35 per day filtered water “option” but not an option is extremely overpriced. the rooms are small and very dated. although clean and friendly staff we will not be staying here again

El área unión Square está llena de deambulantes, lo que le quita apariencia al área. mi habitación era súper cómoda, pero estaba en el piso y te oí mucho de maquinaria a pesar de tener todo cerrado. No tenía desayuno buffet, pero tenía una carta limitada de desayunos, algo costoso para lo que era. No tenía un Restaurant completo y en el piso 21 tenía área de bar, pero cuando fui, estaba muy lleno y ruidoso por tener música alta como para juventud. pero aún con estas limitaciones lo catalogo excelente Hotel. Muchas tiendas y restaurantes cercanos, inclusive Mortons, fogo de chiao, centro de convenciones y museos. El cable Car pasa al frente. Y es muy divertido e histórico tomarlo.

The hotel is historic, the lobby is stunning, and it's in the perfect location in Union Square. Though I am unsure where the high ratings come from. I was coming into town for business. My company was going to ship 10 large boxes of supplies to the hotel. As a courtesy, I gave the hotel a call to give them heads up. I spoke with guest services. Immediately, his response was, \"and what did you want me to do with this information?\" I was so taken aback. I thought I was doing a nice thing, but instead I was rewarded with this guy's \"why are you bothering me\" attitude. In the end he said, \"I can't do anything for you until the boxes arrive.\" The proper response should have been, \"Thank you for the heads up. I will make note in your reservation. We will make sure they are stored properly and available for you upon your arrival. We are looking forward to you visit.\" Anyway... moving on. Upon arrival, there was a bellhop at the front door. Shout out to him for being amazing. He helped me with my luggage and made me feel very welcome. The check-in process was a little awkward, but fine. The hallways of the hotel looked like I was in a horror movie. My room was old with chipping paint, the bathtub was dirty and rusty and the window in the bathroom was cracked and looked moldy. This was not what I thought a 4-star hotel would be. I asked for extra pillows and they never came. Book elsewhere. Not worth the price. Inconsistent customer service.

The renovations (since it was known as the Sir Francis Drake) created a very nice and pleasant atmosphere. Noise level on the Powell Street-side was relatively high due to a combination of the trollies and late-night conversations/shouting in the street. Otherwise, the stay was fantastic. Note: I unexpectedly ended up extending my stay and was moved to another room. The noise was not an issue at all on the Union Square facing side of the hotel.

This is a beautifully updated historic hotel. Rooms were clean, tastefully decorated and fairly spacious. Bathroom was small, which was fine for us. Staff was nice. You cannot beat the location. Union Square with shopping and restaurants is a block away and Chinatown is an easy walk. Hop a cable car right in front of the hotel (buy all-day hop on and off cable car tix on the city's apps) to visit the Wharf or Ghirardelli Square. Or walk up Nob Hill to catch the cable car to the Ferry Building. San Francisco Playhouse is also only a couple blocks away. Close to public transit stops! Rooftop bar has amazing vibe and views but need to be 21+ to enjoy.

Very nice hotel. I personally like all the older elements that have been retained to bring a nice charm and grandeur to it. Staff were kind and let us check in early which was welcome after a very early flight. Starlite bar was nice and actually busy for a Thursday. Only negatives were that the bathroom is quite small and auto turn off of the light was a bit annoying. Breakfast at the post was a bit pricey for what it was (charged for syrup for the French toast?? Never seen that at any restaurant). Good location and would recommend

She’s an aging beauty. Not in that she’s antique, but in that on top of being a golden oldie, she’s been ridden, well, hard. Dingy corners, iffy sound proofing (IYKYK) and less than comfortable or quiet (see comment on sound proofing) bed. The staff was genuinely helpful and the common areas were decently presented (save for the remains of a water leak in the mezzanine ceiling). If I stay here again, it will be for the location, but with the Hyatt, Westin and Marriott so close by, there are other (likely more expensive) options.
