The location was amazing, however, the rooms are pretty small and the elevator broke the first day we arrived so we had to go up and down 4 flights of stairs every time we went to the room. The amenities were great, water and coffee are offered in the lobby. Staff was friendly but parking is limited and not the best. Would recommend if you don’t plan on spending much time in the room itself.

The hotel is in a great location, right on Newbury St, almost right in the middle, walking-wise, of the Common one way and Fenway the other (about 15-minutes to either). The room was comfortable, and the place has that 'old but nice' vibe that is appealing. The only downside was that the shower had a clump of hair from the previous guest in the corner, which brings up the question of whether it was cleaned at all. Sometimes things get missed, and the rest of the bathroom and room seemed clean, but I can certainly say the Newbury staff was lucky it was just me in town and my wife was not with me.

The service and the staff were excellent and the property is in a great location for touring Boston. The room we had was nice and had everything we needed. A coffee pot in the room would have been good but there was free coffee in the lobby. I would definitely consider staying at the Newbury Guest House again.

My husband and I were visiting Boston to attend Red Sox game and explore the city. We wanted to be able to walk to Fenway Park. We loved the location of the hotel! Walkable to the game but also an easier walk to many dining options and shopping area. We walked to Boston Common and Prudential Tower. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, even had an umbrella available to use on the one rainy day we had while there!

It was lovely. It was like we were in our own little oasis in the middle of the city. The location was perfect for walking anywhere we wanted to go. Lots of shops, restaurants, and sights to see nearby. From the front staff to maintenance and cleaning crew, the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. On-site parking was tight but so convenient. The room was clean and offered plenty of seating, a lovely fireplace, and amazing view. We’ll definitely stay again!

The staff was incredible, very friendly and accommodating. Our room was fine, bed was more comfortable than most. I am rating it a three for two main reasons: our room was VERY WARM, we had the thermostat set to 62 or off the whole time and our room didn’t go below 70 the entire time but felt much warmer like upper 70s. It was hard to sleep for us as we like a cold room. The second reason is just bad luck but the elevator was broken. We stayed four days and it was not repaired. The staff offered to help with our bags but taking the stairs to the fourth floor multiple times a day was not only tiring but very claustrophobic as the stairs are windy and very small and lopsided. Literally lopsided you can see them slanting, which is comical but would’ve been nice to at least have the option of taking the elevator. For that reason I would also not recommend to the elderly or not able-bodied.

The NEWBURY Guest House offers friendly and efficient customer service, comfortable rooms with nice amenities and is located close to multiple transportation, dining and shopping options. It is a great value! One important caveat is that the elevator was out of service during my stay and while helpful staff were available to carry bags, mobility challenged guests might have difficulty navigating the stairs.

One of the best hotels we’ve stayed at in quite some time! Beautiful and quiet property in the middle of Back Bay. Super clean and comfortable rooms, bigger than I would have expected! Absolutely charming place to stay on beautiful Newbury St. We arrived shortly after it had snowed a good 3-4 inches, and it was bitterly cold. I was slightly disappointed that the stairs were a bit icy, but once inside I was greeted by an intimate lobby with a wine fridge complete with extensive wine selection, lavazza coffe maker, keurig, microwave, and an ice-cold filter water tap. Facing Newbury St. was a small “living room” style seating area with plush chairs and board games. I waited a good 5 minutes at the desk before someone emerged from behind a semi-closed door. There was no bell or button to press to alert staff, nor a sign stating they were away from the desk. No apology was made for the wait, but the woman checking me in was very friendly and I didn’t say anything. In all fairness, she could have been on a call/meeting or handling an issue with someone, so I don’t feel like my wait alone should indicate any issue with staff’s availability. Check in was simple and quick. The hallways are narrow, but it enhances the place truthfully because you can feel the history here. You may encounter having to go down two stairs to only go back up two stairs to get to your room. This is because the Guest House is actually three late Victorian era houses that were joined together! My simple queen room was clean, comfortable, and adorable. I loved the view of Newbury and the ample lighting options in the room. Bathroom was very small, but impeccably clean and modern. Very happy

Want to explore Boston while staying in an authentic Brownstone? This is your place. The property is located on Newbury Street. The food choices are endless no matter what your dietary needs/likes are. Shopping? the shops on Newbury are an experience in themselves but the property is directly across from the Prudential Center. Free parks, museums and colleges are also within walking distance. Public transit is abundant. The staff was beyond kind, informative and helpful. The space/lobby was comfortable and truly a place to enjoy the evening watching the city go by. The variety of free beverages offered makes up for the lack of a coffee maker- in room. There is an elevator, but the stairs if you take them, are original. They slant slightly which can be disorienting when navigating to the third floor. The parking was cheap for the city and worth it. The doors in the rooms don’t have a second latch, that and the doors to the outside not being locked made it feel a little unsafe. The views of Newbury Street and the Boston Sklyline made up for that. The staff went above beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend this stay.

An Accommodating Weekend
I made it to town early in the morning and was expecting to just drop of my bag and await check-in. Upon my arrival I was greetly from the friendly front desk worker and told my room was available and I would be able to get in early. I was very happy to be able to head upstairs and rest in a cute and clean room. The property provides a Boston charm while being in the midst of a busy shopping area. It was an easy area to grab a coffee in the morning and a drink in the evening while still having easy access to central downtown. The elevators were down at the time which for me was not an issue but the front desk was more than willing to help those who needed assistance getting their things to and from their rooms. Would definitely stay here again.
