The staff was nice, kind, and friendly. The room was clean and well-maintained with a great, strong air conditioner. The only problem about the room was that it was really small, without a desk so I could work on my laptop, and wi-fi didn't work during my stay.

There’s good and bad. The good: great location, very walkable to destinations or public transportation. The bad: check in took too long, as no one was at the desk for a solid 15 minutes. Then two other times, the desk was also unmanned. Worst of all, for a 3 night stay, our room was never cleaned. At all. We specifically asked after the first day the room was not cleaned if it would be done that day and they assured us it would be, but it wasn’t. To give credit where it’s due, we were refunded for one night. However, I would’ve rather they kept my money and took out our trash, gave us clean towels, changed the sheets, gave us more toilet paper, etc.

Incredibly handy location for a Boston visit and a great deal for the price. This is a very old hotel with small rooms that have been updated pretty thoroughly. Nice bathroom. Small but well-thought out. The updates are all well thought out and I would stay here again for this location and price. I just wish the owners would update the interior of the elevator. It’s not old and cool. It’s just old.

Staff were mostly nice, but overall one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. WiFi didn’t work for 3 days straight, the initial room I was in had blacked out windows, housekeeping doesn’t clean the rooms, the rooms are smaller than a jail cell, there is a 2 inch gap at the bottom of every door. It’s incredibly loud, the lift can be heard throughout the whole hotel every time someone uses it.

If you have any other options, do not book this hotel

The hotel is near Boston Common and Emerson College, the building is small but the room is not too tiny, has everything you might need also comes with two free blue water bottles. There’s a coffee machine on the first floor, and water and ice in the basement. The french vanilla tastes so yum I highly recommend to make some of it in the morning.

The only inconvenient thing is that the hotel doesn’t offer umbrellas. It was raining cats and dogs upon my arrival and since I didn’t have an umbrella I had to wait for 3 hours to get outside…

The staff are nice, they made interesting small talks. Oh, one more thing, there’re some steep stairs you have to walk in order to get inside the hotel, with heavy luggages it might be a bit tiresome.

Price is definitely high but give the location and the clean room, it probably worths the money.

We had a nice stay in terms of it being a convenient clean place to lay our heads. However the room was quite small and the price was high for it being just a place to sleep. They also offered no amenities at the time specifically not being able to provide water was annoying. The staff however was very polite and apologetic as the hotel was going through some changes. Parking was close by and cheaper than other hotels which was another reason we ended up here so at least that delivered. Overall it was an okay stay at a dated hotel. Bring your own water!😅

Receptionist at check in was ill prepared and lacked a good behavior. He was on a personal call the entire time and they were listening to our conversation. He was playing vulgar and explicit music very loudly. I have never in my 30 years of traveling have I had such a terrible and unacceptable experience. He was also vaping and wreaked of smoke.

The beds sat too low on the floor, it was nearly impossible to sit on them. The room amenities were non existent. One tiny chair, tiny desk and no fridge. The room was extremely dark and the AC was not adequate. The elevator was dirty and the maids were loud and obnoxious

the hotel was charming and clean and really well located - an easy walk to the common and a longer, but totally doable walk to the major freedom trail sites. the room was european tiny, but plenty sufficient, since we spent our time exploring the city.
i only wish the air conditioning was a little more consistent and that there were more outlets so both guests could have phones charging and accessible by the bed, especially as there isn’t a clock in the room.

Room was good and we only stayed one night. Only thing that was an inconvenience was one of the TV's did not work. They tried to fix it but just didn't work. Also, one of the vending machines ate our money. They desk clerk already knew this happens and said they should put a sign on it. Other than that, I cannot complain. Would stay there again.

I was only here because I had an early flight out of Boston the next morning. I arrived way past standard check in time (3-4 pm), and the staff were very communicative, friendly and understanding. The room did the trick for just an overnight. Comfortable beds with comfortable pillows. Loved the bathroom. Loved the lighting. Only thing to note for future travelers that may be “negative”: The pictures make the room look much bigger than it is, like the size of a standard hotel room. It is about 1/4 of the size of a normal hotel room. At least this was the case for my room.

Remodeling was underway that made a lot of noise until 7-8pm, old elevator was making another clicking noise and another noise from the road came into the room. Wifi was down on the second day.
I agree it is an affordable option in the Boston downtown, but you will need to sacrifice some.

My only complaint is that the listing was a bit misleading. I should have done more research on my part.
The room was clean and beds comfy except for the $40 cot. The windows both looked out at brick walls (so much for harbor views). The lounge,game room was litterly an underground basement. The pool, work out area is actually at a local Y, not in the building. No valet parking available.
However the staff were superb and everyone seemed happy to be staying there. Would I come again? Hmmmm

The woman who checked us in was amazing and gave us a very nice room on the top floor, away from all the noise, with a great view of the city. She also gave us recommendations for how to get around and some fun things to do while we were in town. We arrived early and she accommodated us, even though we were in no rush. The lobby had a nice coffee maker that was free to use, and met our needs. I would recommend this hotel as it was in an convenient location to parking and was an easy walk to restaurants and entertainment It was clean and cozy.

Very disappointing stay. The room was no bigger than a closet, and there were no amenities at all. One hook in the bathroom for the hairdryer, no plastic cups, no information about the surrounding area, no food anywhere in hotel. There was a vending machine with very little choice, and all of it was snack type food. We could not sleep at all because of the noise outside, although it seemed as if the windows were fairly new. No screens in windows, which was also problematice during the later afternoon hours.
There was a coffee machine in the lobby area, but that was it. No water available, even for purchase.
I paid $348 for one night's stay, and I will never go back again. What a waste of money.

This is a fun, minimalist hotel with friendly and helpful staff. More suited for a budget traveler and it is perfect! Highly suggest asking for a corner room and specify street view, not alley. Rooms are well designed for their small space. Thin walls but a quiet hotel. We loved it!

We were given a room on the first floor which abutted the alley. It was noisy at times. Our window did not work and appeared to be sealed with tape, but did have frosted film on it. The blackout curtains worked great! The room was small but all we needed for a brief trip to Boston. It definitely was not the room in the photos, though. One of the only things I would suggest are hooks at or near the door to the room to hang your coat, bags, etc on since the room is so small.

We checked in pretty late, around 1 am and there was someone to check us in which was greatly appreciated. It seems like someone is working the deck at all times.

There’s a coffee machine in the lobby which was a big hit for hot chocolate for my partner, and there are toiletries in the shower (shampoo, body wash) and outside of the shower (lotion, hand soap). Of course you are provided with towels, etc, and we requested extra pillows at no cost.

Overall, we would stay here again due to the room cleanliness and the proximity to public transportation.

Room was clean and bath amenities were provided. The room served its purpose. The Internet access was down from 10:00 p.m. my second night to sometime either in the morning or afternoon of the following day, which prevented me from sending work status reports in a timely manner. The staff indicated that since the hotel had transferred ownership that Internet access went down occasionally. Something I believe if actually true, should be disclosed upfront, either in the Hotels.com listing or onsite when the user checks in. Also the hotel was difficult to locate when traveling from the train station to the hotel as the Hotel had its old signage up (it apparently was formerly called the Found hotel). There was no outside signage, of any kind, that indicated that it was the Ivy Hotel Boston Commons. After several minutes wandering around the block searching for the hotel entrance, I finally just walked into the Found hotel and learned it was the Ivy. This is something else that should have been disclosed on the Hotels.com listing so travelers wouldn't have to waste time trying to locate it when in Boston.

Other than that the staff were pleasant and the hotel room was usable.

The room was clean, however the shower floor was black. I am not sure why it hasn't been bleached or done over. The girl at the desk was not helpful at all. My friend and I asked her if she had any nearby food recommendations and she told me to \"look places up on google and use my maps and that I would figure it out.\" You can hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms, as they are super tiny and in close quarters. If you are staying on the weekend, be sure to be kept up all night from the nearby clubs, screaming, and street noise. Overall it is fine if you are traveling alone and have no standards and are a sound sleeper. I would not book this hotel again.

Staff was top notch. The room didn’t have anywhere to hang clothes or a stand to put a suit case. There was no soap. Just shampoo, liquid hand soap on the wall and hand lotion. No frills, the room was clean and a comfy bed - the price was reasonable for Boston. Walking distance to Boston Common, theatre district and Chinatown.

I do love it where you are located because The Wilbur Theatre,Boch Center-Wang Theatre,Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre,Boch Center-Schubert Theatre & AMC Movie Theatre are all little walking distance to your hotel.

Hotel was quaint and in a perfect location for our quick spring break trip with our daughter. The room has a curtain divider which worked out nicely for the 3 of us. Very close to China Town and the Freedom trail. Each staff member was very courteous and greeted us each time we came and went. Would definitely stay here again.

Terrible experience - nasty shower, no robs, very small bed, no coffee machine inside the room, no central AC/heater. They just painted the stair rail and the smell was everywhere. The employees were unwelcoming and the weirdest thing - the checkout is at 11am and when you ask for late check out it's at 11:15. No go!!!
