This boutique hotel in the heartnof the nicest area of downtown Boston was the most unexpectedly pleasant travel find! Its easy to rave about its warm ambiance, attentive and joyful Front Desk staff, fantastic room! with a beautiful red brick wall, functional and architecturally interestingnwall unit & shelves, perfectly appointed bath (with the SMARTEST space saving decor I've seen) and - wait for it - spa shower with floor to ceiling tile and hot, hot steamy water. This hotel room was so spot-on, I was sad to be there only 1 night. The hallways could use a bit of love, but do not let that deter you. This spectacular find is soooo worth booking! The location is perfect! Sandwiched between Newbury Street and Copley Plaza - I enjoyed both immensely but could not wait to get back to my little jewel. Thank you, Charlesmark. I will be back!

Excellent location. Caught by a blizzard and had to stay longer. Staff were friendly and accommodating and sorted out our longer stay efficiently. The only down point would be that we picked this because breakfast was included but it is really just a croissant and a coffee-not great if you don't want a croissant and don't drink coffee

Fabulous location for shopping, historic sites, restaurants, convenience store, coffee shops. Hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast, coffee that is better than Starbucks, plus a mini croissant. Staff is friendly and helpful. When I left behind my book and gloves as I was headed to the airport on the metro, a receptionist ran down the street to give them to me, all the while it was drizzling an icy rain. I as so startled I forgot to give her a tip before she ran back. She deserves a bonus!

The CharlesMark Hotel is a simple 4 story boutique hotel right in Boston's Copley Sq. I arrived in the middle of winter to find its staff was all young, friendly, competent and diverse. There is an elevator. But my room was on second floor mezzanine up the stairs in the back and just off a sparse dining area with an attached 3 computer business ledge with bar seats. The room was a small 8x10ish fully wood furnished space. Everything was compact and useful and included an interesting surround sound system, fridge (ya! 2 free waters inside,) storage nooks but not a formal desk or huge flat screen. Attached was my own full, spotlessly, small bathroom. Not cramped, but YES w/cute toiletries, hair dryer, music, plastic cups and fluffy towels. A firm queen bed provided a solid nights sleep. I did wake up with a garbage truck outside my 2nd floor window. But it was urbanely ok-- if you know what I mean? Then a instantly hot shower and some comped coffee and a overly crunchy (ahh, stale?) croissant at the sweet bar in the lobby. But the full service l Landwer Cafe is next door, pretty much in the hotel. The front desk securly held my luggage past check-out and had a nice landing spot to park a car in front to register and loadin for a few minutes. They have discounts for 24hr parking at a close garage and a gym pass too. Look, I was photographing a job literally across Boylston at Boston Public Library so this fairly inexpensive tightly run tiny hotel was absolutly location perfect!

We were pleased being greeted by Lily. She was down to earth, responsive, and extremely helpful throughout the process, which we truly appreciated.

The rooms, however, were extremely small. In fairness, this is something I likely should have recognized more clearly when booking, so that part is on me.

Unfortunately, the morning coffee and croissant were disappointing. The croissant was very stale and so hard that it broke into pieces when we tried to bite into it.

Additionally, there was a jar displayed with a political statement that included profanity (“F--- ICE) I work for the government and found that language unprofessional and tacky for an open establishment. Regardless of political views, I believe businesses should maintain a neutral and professional environment for all guests.

Overall, while Lily herself was wonderful to deal with, there were aspects of the stay that did not meet expectations.

Room: 3/5. It lacks renovation, and it’s also noisy. You can hear the floors on top of yours and people walking down the hall.

Amenities: 2/5. Not many inclusions. The front desk didn’t even mention the Wi-Fi password at check-in time and not offered an overview of the property. TVs are old.

Staff: 4/5. While not perfect, most of the staff was nice.

Food: n/a. We didn't try it.

There was a band-aid in the shower when we got there. I called the front desk and they sent someone to clean it. That made me question how clean the room really was. The \"complementary breakfast\" is just coffee, tea, and a pastry from the on-site restaurant. That was pretty misleading and disappointing. The t.v. channel guide needed to be updated because the numbers listed didn't match the channels. Overall it was okay for a 1-night stay. The location is great. Close to BOS Airport and walking distance from the nearby shopping center. I hope they either remove the \"complementary breakfast\" from their list of amenities or make it an actual breakfast.

Deciding to go with a boutique hotel can be hit or miss depending on the accommodations. This hotel definitely gets some hits and misses. They exaggerate the fact that they have ‘free breakfast.’ The breakfast is really a coffee cart with some pastries from a box. They have DVDs and VHS tapes which is cute in theory but we had a hard time working the setting on the TV and gave up watching a movie. Some the staff were super friendly and helpful some were lukewarm at best. Again, you take your chances going boutique and not going to a chain hotel!

This was a disappointing stay. Cute hotel but services was lacking. Stayed for 3 nights and housekeeping did not come in at all to make the bed, replace towels, etc. The faucet on the sink linked from the top when turned out. Curiously, the refrigerator was on a shelf six fee off the ground and was not accessible. No coffee maker in the room. Was told that they have coffee and pastries in the morning - found the coffee. Still looking for the pastries.Will not stay again.

Small boutique hotel, which translates into a converted studio apt, sans kitchen. Lobby is a desk and elevator door. It’s basic. But, well kept, except carpeting starting to wear. Bed and pillows comfy. Good linens and towels. My window was 4th story of 6, right on top of the Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston St. Room was surprisingly quiet. Nice neighborhood. Staff were friendly and accommodating

Although daily housekeeping is listed on Expedia's website. We were here for 4 days, and our room was not cleaned once. No coffee station in the room, small bed, parking not close to the hotel, and expensive. No breakfast, just 1 pastry, maybe a 2-star hotel, DEFINITELY NOT 4 STAR. The location is good, but several other hotels in the area would have been better options for a similar price, possibly even cheaper.

The hotel was in a convenient location for an overnight stay to see the Boston Pops and within walking distance of the restaurant. It was clean and check in/out was easy. We had a cocktail in the lounge before we went out and i enjoyed a Mediterranean Mule which was delicious.

It was a spotless small, albeit small. The staff was fantastic. The amenities were great. But overall, it's a great location in the middle of everything, and the staff could not be better.

Unfortunately, upon check-out, some damage accidentally happened to my bag. I called the hotel, and the situation was rapidly resolved. Kudos to the manager.

There has been some minor noise such as water running, heaters. So, if you're very sensitive with noises, I won't recommend this place but for me, I will always come stay here when I am back in Boston!

This is a small hotel tucked into a busy area near several larger hotels. It was a convenient walk to the Hynes Convention center, where I was attending a conference. There were lots of food options for lunch or dinner in the area as well as a grocery store about 5 minutes walk away. The room was small but they had a lot of little additions, like a folding chair, to make the small space work better. They had a microwave downstairs for guests to use. The room was clean.
A few negatives: 1) They still use down pillows, which is terrible for people like me who have allergies, 2) they advertise a free breakfast but it doesn't exist. You can go to the restaurant downstairs and apparently get free coffee and a bagel or something if you order there but that's it. It didn't help that there were few options for breakfast in the area, especially on the weekends (except for expensive brunch places). They need to change the listing on this site to shift expectations about breakfast. One final issue was that they didn't really have any trash cans on site. They need somewhere to toss out larger food items and boxes, especially because the room is so small. You don't want them stinking up the room or taking up space.

The hotel and room was neat and modern. However, a mouse crawled across the floor as I was watching tv. I asked for another room which the nice clerk promptly gave me. However, it was “occupied” by a young couple who were engaging in some rather spirited activity when I opened the door. Back down to the desk clerk who was horrified and confused because the room should have been available. The 3rd room was ok but I didn’t sleep well. Some things you just can’t unsee. The management was very apologetic . These things happen but I hope the hotel will reach out with a discount or better for a very unsettling night.

We stayed at the Charlesmark Hotel for our anniversary, and our experience was extremely disappointing. On our last night, we were suddenly awakened by a very loud noise of running water. When we checked the bathroom, we found that the toilet was leaking so badly that the entire bathroom floor was covered in water — and the water had even started leaking into the room itself.

We immediately notified the staff. They came to look, but the hotel was fully booked and they were unable to move us to another room. We had no choice but to spend the night with a flooded bathroom, water leaking into the room, and constant noise. It was completely unacceptable, uncomfortable, and honestly unsafe.

We requested a refund for the night, but the hotel refused, which was extremely disappointing considering the severity of the issue.

This was supposed to be a special anniversary trip, but the experience was completely ruined.

This was our first stay at the Charlesmark. This is a no-frills hotel. Room was very small with no view. We were in the back of the hotel and it was very quiet. The bed was and pillows were very comfortable, small bathroom with nice fluffy towels. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Nice little breakfast place downstairs and a small bar. Great location! Right in the middle of everything. The price was reasonable as we found most Boston hotels to be incredibly expensive.

Both the room and restroom were clean. It’s a boutique hotel, the rooms are small but have all the amenities and all furniture is very strategically placed. I was a solo traveller and it was perfect for me. The front desk staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. I had interaction with 3 different front desk staff and all 3 were amazing!

- Location

- restaurant / coffee shop on premises. Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent!
- VERY small but comfortable room
- good free WiFi

The NOT SO good:
- Despite the headline claim - breakfast IS NOT included. Very misleading claim. Included is a coffee and pastry but breakfast itself is offered at a 20% discount.
- restaurant is nice but does not open until 8 am. Pastries available after 7:30 am. Very late for early risers or business guests.
- bed is very small. So was the room. Not really comfortable for couples.
- poor security. Anyone can just walk in off the street and gain access to the rooms via the ‘public’ elevator.
