The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline as an amalgam of American-British-Italian influences. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel-with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences - the Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution.

A full restoration and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of its architect Mr. Louis Asbury with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler.

The Asbury restaurant celebrates the best of what the South has to offer. The Asbury is a tribute to Southern roots and the culturally diverse community of the New South.

In addition to its street-level dining room and the lobby bar The Dunhill Hotel and The Asbury work together to provide guests with a unique meeting and special events venue. The Dunhill Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America - the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America - and is one of the first boutique establishments to be included. In addition to being one of the few remaining historic landmarks in Uptown it also has the largest collection of original works by North Carolina artist Philip Moose.

Location fantastic, 2 blocks from the Belk theater.
Staff nice, historic hotel with nice modern bathroom. Our room had a nice view. However bed very lumpy and saggy, needs an update...room 507.
Luckily we were there just one night, don't think my back could have taken 2, that is why I had to take away one star...

It was a lovely stay - staff was amazing, room was spacious and well-appointed, and we love the Asbury, where we enjoyed a great breakfast! It was convenient to a concert we were attending at the Music Factory. Of course we would recommend The Dunhill!

Hotel was very pretty and historic. Rooms was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. We had a corner room so to walls of windows with view of the city. Location was great. We were only there for a day so didn't take advantage of their restaurant or room service but we would stay there again. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful. Discount on parking for guests of the hotel. Location was great! Close and within walking distance to restaurants and city sites.

The room was great. The bed was tight and firmly made. The staff and vallet were great. They gave me the accommodations that I needed. I would recommended this establishment to all my family and friends. The staff even put my luggage in my vehicle, so I wouldn't be late to the Panthers Game. The price for the hotel is very reasonable as well and downtown, not to mention a block up, you have Ri Ra Pub and club Prohibition (highly recommended both!!).

We love this hotel! We live just outside the city and several times a year we come into town and do a staycation. This is our choice every time. It is even where we spent our honeymoon night over 30 years ago. It has old charm and elegance. It has great history. It’s also convenient to restaurants, theaters, and sports arenas.

My stay was excellent from start to finish. The staff was amazing—especially Natalie at the front desk, who was extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, and the service throughout the entire stay was outstanding. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious (kiss the chef!). Overall, a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

This smaller-scale hotel had charm and character that seemed lacking in some of the large hotel chains in Charlotte.

We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean, comfortable, spacious. Staff was helpful. Hotel was in a convenient location.

Restaurant didn't seem fully open and active while we were there, but there were other places to eat nearby.

There are no ice machines which is very inconvenient. You have to call the front desk and wait for someone to bring it to you. Our first night there, we had to wait so long we gave up because we had dinner reservations. We came back and there was a melted bucket of water in front of my door.

After a very long day flying from Mexico my tv did not work. So I tried to call front desk and phone doesn't work. I go down to desk 2x. Nobody there. Third time a charm and gave him remote to fix while I had a late night bite. Go straight to my room only to find one side with a large blood stain Fromm a woman's period. Can't call down so I slept on coach. Told the gentleman at front desk my issues upon checkout. He offered me no remediation or suggestions how I can be compensated. However your general manager was a charming and gracious individual who opened the bar so I could have a cocktail. I did not express any of my frustrations to him. This is not acceptable behavior in a fine hotel. Do you agree?

We love staying here! The history and grand decor from the past make it so fun. The bar has a European/English feel. One Night in Charlotte

I had stayed here once many years ago and remembered that visit as very positive. This one was the same, only perhaps a bit better because it was on a Wednesday night, meaning 1/2 price bottles of wine and excellent conversations with the locals who flock here for that occasion. Easy walk to Truist for minor league baseball. Room was again quiet and comfortable. I could have stayed someplace farther out from the center of town for less money, but decided to Do the Dunhill once again. Glad I did.

Street noise, thin walls, and chaos

Hotel location is good. Walls are extremely thin poor lady next door puked for hours. Shower leaked all over the floor (Room 303) For the price point I would expect a little better service. This was my second stay at this hotel, was hoping this time would be better this time, but no dice. Will not stay again.

When I arrived at the hotel, the front desk person told me that they didn't have my reservation. I showed him my active Travelocity itinerary and he then said it was cancelled by the hotel two days after I made my reservation 3 weeks prior. I was first told they overbooked for that date. It is located on a street that is used by people cruising up and down the street, revving their engines and playing their stereos at full volume. It's like trying to sleep in the middle of a rave being held during the Indy 500. They are aware of the problem - there are earplugs in the amenities kit - but there's nothing they can do to stop the incredibly loud noise, which goes on all night. Maybe on the upper floors it's better, but on the third floor it's unbearable. We left after only one night and of course they refused to refund us for the second night because we booked through expedia.

Not a fan. Double charged for everything. Parking and incidentals. When I spoke to the desk first she told me I was wrong about the double charge. Then said “oh maybe the held double”. It was $38 to park a night. So a $76 additional charge on my card was not ok. It’s been 2 days and it still hasn’t “fallen off”. No ice or fridge in room. Water was scolding hot. The noise was unbearable. Did not sleep at all. Will not go back.

My sister and I were in Charlotte attending a soccer match at the Bank of America stadium. I chose The Dunhill based on the location to the stadium (0.8 miles) and previous ratings. From my first phone call inquiring about parking (they valet for a modest fee) to check out, everything was top notch in customer service. The Dunhill was an elegant and intimate hotel. Jeanna was especially impressive and helpful. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite on the 10th floor with gorgeous city views. The room was impeccable and thankfully quiet. If I stay in Charlotte again, there is no question, I will make reservations to stay at The Dunhill again!

Two issues earned this stay two stars. One, the room assigned to us had two (2) queen beds and no desk—I had never seen that before. Management assigned us a stunning king bed with an awesome bathroom for an extra $50. No apology but an acceptable solution. Two, it took us 20 minutes to get our valeted car from next door and there was no one in front of us. Breakfast was excellent. May stay here again after I finish being grumpy over the initial room and the horrible valet service. Awesome location.

Dowager needs major facelift

Booked this because it had great reviews and presented as smaller historic boutique hotel. Its very tired, room smelled musty, no one at front desk at early am checkout. Also could hear clearly into adjoining room bathroom and see its light through vent grill. $300/night. No thanks
