We had a great 3-night family stay at Whitsunday Terraces in Airlie Beach. The location is excellent—close to everything—and the views are absolutely stunning, which really made the trip special.

That said, the kitchen and bathroom are quite dated and in need of an upgrade. The most frustrating part was the lack of WiFi in the rooms, which was a real inconvenience during our stay.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay thanks to the location and views, but a few updates would make a big difference.

Nice large room, booked a basic but upgraded on arrival. It’s up a hill which in the heat would be a challenge for those unfit.
Only downside is no WiFi in the rooms ( only at reception) whilst I accept it’s a holiday resort many people need to book and confirm excursions, onward travel etc. woo go odds almost universally necessary these days.

The hotel has some of the best views in Airlie Beach. The studio had a kitchen which we used every day. The balcony was lovely. The hotel though has permanent residents there, and the resident above us washed their balcony sending a waterfall down on us as we ate breakfast and had our towels and clothes swim clothes drying.

View is excellent and staff are very friendly and helpful. Very close to main street with lots of dining options and close to marina as well for those looking to go on tours or visit other islands.
Facilities are run down though and not of a high standard. Steep walk up the hill from the main street.

Walking into the room I was wowed with the 180 degree amazing view . Bed made up nicely with a small couch . Then I walked into bathroom and felt like I went back in time 45 years ago . Stained toilet and bathtub which need an urgent renovation and the block out curtains need to be changed torn and dirty . Overall I am rating it high but disappointed with the amenities and a lot of bugs ended up with spots.

Great location for a stay in Airlie Beach. Only 100m from the supermarket and the main St where all the great eateries are. Large comfy bed and lounge furniture. Quiet during the night. Downside: no WiFi in the rooms and the kitchenette was somewhat sparse on everyday kitchen item/utensils. No fan in the bathroom is a pain.

We rang at 10:30am to ask if an earlier check in would be possible and were told that the room would be ready from 12pm. We arrived at 1:30pm after a long drive and the room was not ready. Staff were rude and told us we would just have to wait. Not really a huge issue, but didn’t start us off on the best note.
The room was dirty, old and not maintained well at all. There were holes in the walls and appliances were so old they were discoloured and were lucky to work at all. The fridge light flickered constantly.
We went to speak to the reception about our issues after our first night and were told we needed to find somewhere else to stay as we were not welcome at the hotel any longer. Apparently we had been playing loud music the night before (untrue). Staff were uncaring and unwilling to do anything to make our stay pleasant. We were forced to find last minute accommodation which was extremely stressful.
We were also told a refund would be processed for the majority of our booking. After a week we had not been given our refund and had to fight for it. We were ignored when messaging the hotel and Wotif tried to fight on our behalf. They were also denied the refund. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action that I was given my owed refund 2 weeks later!

Firstly, I noticed that I was charged for towel replacement on a daily basis, which came as a surprise. Typically, hotels either include this service in the room rate or give guests the option to reuse towels to reduce environmental impact and avoid additional charges. It would be helpful if such charges were clearly communicated during check-in or in the room.

Secondly, I was unable to access Wi-Fi during my stay. In today’s travel environment, reliable internet access is considered an essential amenity, especially for guests who need to work or stay connected. This lack of access was quite inconvenient.

I would never post a bad review on Expedia however for the money paid at this hotel, we were disappointed. On the positive side, the hotel is easily walkable into the town and the views from the property are great. However, the room we booked was nothing like the photos and I understand that they are renovating the hotel in stages but we definitely overpaid for our room. There is a pub on site that does nice food but from 12pm till late they play very loud music and at kick out time you have noisy people leaving the premises. Expected if you were staying in the high street but we would have liked to have known about this before staying. Finally, I wanted to say that Hayley on reception was really lovely and helpful but we found the other members of staff rude and reluctant to help on occasions.

For the price, this property is a good budget-option in walking distance of the main hub of Airlie Beach. The property is old, but the rooms are big and the balconies are spacious. Our room was partly renovated. There are lovely views from the pool and spa, and there is a popular bar next to the pool area.

The bathroom in particular was quite shocking. Old, chipped tired shower over bath and the vanity taps were rusty & old. Vanity units were almost falling apart. The view is excellent overlooking the airlie bay . There are 5 levels of apartments going up this horrendously steep hill then you have to get your 20kg of luggage up and down 4 to 5 sets of steps at each apartment level. My wife and i are in our 60s and walk regularly , we were staying on the 2nd highest level. The hill beat us , we got a cab everytime we had to go up the hill at approx $6 to $7 a trip. I suggest you try to stay on the flat ground around the town.

Excellent walkable location BUT hill to walk up to property was steep which could be problematic for some people, All taps leaked and shower dripped constantly, bathroom cupboard had water damage and falling apart at the base, hot water ran out quickly, no stove top, had ants in kitchen and bathroom, and room and furniture was in dire need of updating - should have been rented at a reduced rate. Therefore, booking advertisement was misleading. When speaking with management, they mentioned the room was to be renovated soon, so maintenance approach was minimal. It's a shame that this room reflects poorly on the hotel. Not sure of the state of other rooms.
The Anchor Bar was very good. Would only stay again if we had a renovated room with fully equipped kitchen as the location was excellent! I'd call hotel before booking to inquire about room condition and its amenities!

Our room was a good size, with a nice view, but did not have a lounge room light, there were no towel hooks or towel rails in the bathroom (so nowhere to hang towels), the bathroom shower curtain rail fell down, the particle board ledges in the wardrobe were on the way out etc.

When we arrived at the hotel we thought it was lovely,staff surroundings ect. The views are amazing! We then got told where our room was (up a steep hill) it was at the top of the hill which we felt was right out of the way. There is also no wifi in the rooms which for us was a huge let down. You only get wifi round the main pool and reception area. They were the only down falls we had. The hotel its self is spotless.

It’s got incredible views, decent restaurant, bed is small but comfy, and staff are super pleasant and friendly…….that’s about it. The property is run down - inside and out, requires upkeep or an overhaul, and housekeeping is poor…….is it a “you get what you pay for?” The stay wasn’t a bargain. The room was not swept or mopped - hair and bits on the floor, tables benches not wiped, the fridge looks newish, the bathtub not clean - hair inside the tub, a huge stain on the bottom of the tub, hair and dust and base of toilet, cobwebs on the windows. I like that 1.5 rolls of toilet paper and 2 tiny tubes of shampoo are there to cover your stay, reception is only open certain hours - so if you run out of toilet paper in the middle of the night it’s a problem. The thin tiny blanket provided is not enough to warm some people at night (we stayed during winter). Only the spa is heated and only one pool is available when they claim 2. Parking is good but some access and spaces are very tight so if you have a larger vehicle it may be inaccessible in some parts. Doors and balcony doors lock but are not super secure. There are long term or permanent tenants living there, with a “you’re in my home” attitude - so you will hear loud music, or they will put cones on parking that they believe belong to them (there is no allocated parking), they will be loud in the early hours of the morning…..I guess we all want to feel the “my home” vibes where we live. If clean, I would maybe stay again.

Excellent location! I didn’t have a car but found I could walk everywhere I wanted to get to which was SUPER handy! I think some rooms MIGHT be a little noisier if you’re near the pool (just on weekend day evenings because there’s a cute little pop up bar that opens really close to the pool) but my room wasn’t near there so I had a lovely quiet spot and SUCH a great ocean view! The room itself was totally fine, had everything I needed with a good amount of space, comfy bed and just the best balcony and view. Staff were really nice, welcoming and accommodating. If you book, it might be worth doing it directly with them, just so you know where abouts you are room-wise, but overall, a really great spot, highly recommended this place!

A standard room should have standard inclusions. There was no remote for the air con/heater. The hot water ran out within 2 minutes, There weren’t enough utensils for 2 people. The bathroom fan didn’t work. Only one face washer for 2 people. We had one towel each for 4 nights. The carpet in the room was sticky to stand on and needed a clean badly. The laundry facilities were appalling. The washing machine didn’t work properly. The clothes came out the same as they went in. The reception wasn’t attended past 6pm. On the upside it has awesome views.

Restaurant food at The Anchor Bar was exceptional, credit to the chef.
Good location to Airlie Main Street.
Rooms are very dated and although maintained really showing their age.
Noise from other guests very loud to the point of seeming to be in the same room. Connecting doors may as well be left open. No privacy on balconies at all and need to keep curtains closed in case the neighbours are on their balconies. Bathrooms could do with a really good scrub floor to ceiling.

WOW from the moment we walked into the foyer we new this was a unique Motel.
Staff at reception were so welcoming assisted us with our luggage , took time to orientate us to our new surroundings.We had a minor leak in our room and without hesitation the owners Michele and Danny upgraded our room to even more spectacular views.They could not have been more accommodating .Staying at Whitsunday Terraces is a must if visiting Airlie Beach.
