When booking I was never informed that there would be construction the floor over my room. Jackhammers started at 7am and continued til 7 pm the entire time. Yet the air conditioner was still on circulating all of the construction dust and whatever else. My husband and myself got sick during the stay which I am contributing to all of the dust and mold

We just stayed here at the end of May with our two young daughters and it was absolutely wonderful. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was warm and welcoming. The pool area was wonderful with lots of food options and the location of the hotel was ideal so that we could walk across the street to the center of town and have dinner. I would highly recommend!

So we got here and there were hairs in the tub ( multiple) in the shower and in the pull out sofa bedding! Disgusting! Very crowded. Like a factory. Would never stay here again

Bring a float and lots of sunscreen
Went walking to other dining areas -walk was safe and easy to get to the shops. ❤️
Laundry free to use in case you need which was great as well.

Excellent service but do not book over the phone

Highly recommend staying here but DO NOT book through the hotel directly. Use a 3rd party like hotels.com or other. When you call the hotel to book they add on a ton of fees so your final price is actually about 30-40% more than what they originally quote you and then they pressure you into paying \"right away before someone else books\". I did some research and it turns out they outsource the phones to a 3rd party and they pass on their fees to the customer on top of all the other regular resort fees, taxes, etc. Again, this is a great property to book just be careful where you book. Because of the phone experience I gave it a 3 star but the resort itself and staff are all 5+ stars.

The buildings and property are so large that you are more of a number then a guest. Our hotel room felt miles away from everything and the staff seemed to be over their jobs. Not helpful or nice honestly. The room felt cheap and everything seemed over priced for what was offered. Wouldn’t recommend

Construction in room below our room for 3 days. Very loud. One morning they started at 7AM. Very loud, spring break type music at the lazy river. Most people there were middle age. Overheard lot of complaining. Check in took about an hour. Looked like everyone was in training, understandable during COVID. But maybe do it during off peak times.

Very family friendly and the location was within easy walking distance to any activity you may want to do. The check in process was challenging since there appeared to be a slow turnover rate from one guest to another and we lost at least 3 hours past check in time which was frustrating.

Pros: Very clean and nice hotel. Beautiful pool and beach. Free laundry room available to guests. Friendly staff.

Cons: everything opens at 9am and closes at 9pm. If you didn’t eat dinner yet plan to starve the rest of the night because there is no room service available in this hotel after 9pm. If your an early bird don’t expect to have breakfast until a little later on. I thought this was a major issue. After spending long days on the beach, parasailing, snorkeling, etc- by the time you get to your room to shower and get ready for dinner YOU CANT GET ANY. I spend a few nights of my stay very hungry. I know that businesses have to close due to the Aruba COVID curfew, however, I expected a Major hotel like the Marriott to still offer some Kind of late night room service. Furthermore - the hotel seemed to be very short staffed. Anytime I call the hotel operator it just rings and rings- no answer. I had a question about booking another night and they had me on hold for 20 mins and then told me there was no one to help me on the phone. I was told to check the room availability on the website (pretty bad service for a customer who just spend a lot of money to stay at this hotel for 7 days/nights).

This was our 6th time going to Aruba, first time staying at the Marriott Surf. The locals were so kind, helpful and friendly. Hotel is beyond clean and tidy. Constant wiping down, mopping Etc. ...can't wait to go back

TIMESHARE! Yes this property is a timeshare which is not shown anywhere until you get there, therefore there is no onsite restaurant or a nice bar, just a grab and go by the pool, so disappointed. The drinks are $14 and watered down, the guy put 1/3 shot rum in my pina colada, I told him it needs to have a full shot and he said no! If you want more then it’s $7 extra! All mixed drinks should at least have ONE shot of alcohol! Such a rip off, and it’s too crowded, good luck finding a chair by the beach after 8am! Who wakes up on vacation that early!!!

Hotel is very clean and staff are extremely kind. Everyone from property maintenance to lobby receptionist will greet you every time. Pool facility was amazing with plenty of options from adult only pool, lazy river, kids area and swim up bar. Large beach area with plenty of activities and roped off swim area.

We have been staying at The Surf Club since it opened. I hate to complain to a black my entire family loves. Two major complaint: lack of cleanliness. This isn’t the Marriott’s way. The beach huts and umbrellas are a pain. It almost makes us want to leave. We have fair skin children. Help make the place we love fun and dress again.

Only thing I would have improved is ID and payment for drinks,food etc. Maybe a bracelet linked to room #, payment method etc. Also, even after check out, being able to still charge a drink to our account ( since guests are still encouraged to enjoy the amenities)

Fantastic, relaxing, clean, well-maintained hotel. Food and drink options were plentiful and service was good. Quiet, friendly atmosphere for families and couples. Not a \"party crowd\". Removed from the high rise hotel shopping main drag but close enough to walk there easily. Rooms were well appointed and having a kitchen with en-suite laundry was amazing. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Did not like how everyone reserved seats at the pool and were gone for the day. Also was not fair that you had to reserve seats for the beach and some days there were no seats. People would reserve the huts for a week straight and not even be in them. You pay all this money for beach resort and don’t get a seat at the beach. It should just be first come first serve.

Great place on a beautiful island

I got this room for my son and his girlfriend while we were at a different hotel across the street. These comments are a combination of both our thoughts: great location right on a beautiful beach and a great pool/lazy river on property. The only issue he had at all was they got different answers from staff about what was open and when for late night food. They didn't find out until their third day in that the nearby mall area had places open until midnight. They also did the property/time share presentation and though it took longer than advertised (over 2 hours), it wasn't nearly as hard a sell as I told him i thought it would be. They are actually considering signing on because they liked the property/location/island so much and the deal actually made sense.

This is great for families, everything is at the hotel, including a grocery delivery service. If you want a change of scenery, walk down to the beach and there are restaurants and shops on the beach.

We stayed here one night after staying a few nights at the renassaince hotel. We decided to extend our trip and stay at the surf club because the renassaince was sold out. Long story short, we essentially spent 12 hours there in total and we went to check out. At check out the bill was 650 dollars. I looked at the bill and there was a charge for $170, which made sense because we had dinner at the other resort and charged it to our room. I asked about the other 400+ dollars and they looked at me blankly and said, “Do you not want to pay it” and we were like lol no..... what is it for. They then had no answer. So they printed a different bill. And I signed it for $170 dollars. I looked at my Amex bill and there was a charge for the 400+ dollars and another $190 dollar charge- again unaccounted for! Check your statements people, because it is likely we are not the only people they are doing it to! I called the accounting department 3 day ago and they have yet to call back. Yikes.

We loved the lazy river and the room was great. The restaurant, Captain's Galley was wonderful with assistance of nrverages and food brought right to you from your lounge chair. As far as housekeeping, my understanding was we were a guest at the Marriott Vacation Club. We had no idea and nobody explained anything about it. It said as a guest we were entitled to free housekeeping. Housekeeping did not come all the time. It became frustrating and my husband complained to the front desk that there was no service for days. They finally sent someone up. We also smelled smoke coming out of vent in bathroom. They didnt really address that either. A security person came and said housekeeping and an engineer would be there. Nobody came. It was a couple of hours later when someone called and asked if we still smelled smoke. Since it was getting late, we asked if they could take care of it the next day. Never heard another word.

My family of 2 adults and 2 teens stayed in 1 bedroom villa (July 2018) - Hotel is close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Room offers many conveniences of home such as clothes washer, dryer, dishwasher, and stove. A few annoyances are the location of the bathroom light switch and the air conditioner. Outside the hotel provides a pool and lazy river which are nice but require you to wake up very early (6a) to get the best seating. We avoided the beach in the morning as it was easier and cheaper (free) to obtain chairs and huts. We would return but would most likely opt for a 2 bedroom villa as we felt a bit uncomfortable in the 1 bedroom.
