There was a roach in the middle of the lobby bar. We originally booked the place and at the last minute they told us the palace was closed so they moved us to Antillas. The restaurants were always full and at capacity so had to eat the buffet every night.

Beautiful location and facilities. The rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable and the food was excellent. We purchased the all-inclusive package which saved us a fortune and was most convenient to running out for meals. They served sushi grade tuna on the buffet the night before our return - my favorite.

We originally booked at Riu Palace Aruba – All Inclusive, but were moved to Barcelo Aruba due to renovations — with no price adjustment, despite a glaring downgrade in quality. We traveled as a large family with three separate rooms, and the issues were consistent across all of them.
The rooms lacked essentials you'd expect at a 3-star hotel — no hair conditioner, no body lotion, and showers clearly not cleaned daily. Multiple requests to replenish the shower gel dispenser went ignored. Our children reported identical conditions and virtually nonexistent service in their rooms.
My son's room phone didn't work. Despite acknowledging the issue and promising a replacement, it was never fixed. Paint was visibly peeling off hallway ceilings — clear signs of neglected upkeep that contradict the hotel's rating.
Beach umbrellas were severely insufficient, forcing us to wake up at 4:30 AM to secure shade and chairs — an artificial problem not seen at neighboring hotels and easily fixable. The towel policy was equally frustrating: service was listed until 6 PM, yet staff refused to hand out towels after 5 PM, while the pool and beach remained open and in use.
For an all-inclusive resort, the food quality, variety, and dietary options were disappointing and well below what the hotel's rating and price suggest.
Overall, a deeply disappointing experience for a large amount of money — consistent across our entire family.

Room was updated and beautiful. Buffet was good. Always something to eat. Staff was helpful. Beach chairs need to be resorted at 6am (think Hunger Games). À la cartes did not take reservations and so we ended up going off the resort to eat - which was fantastic. I would recommend this hotel for families with small children but would likely say you don’t need to do an all inclusive in Aruba.

This was our second stay at RIU Palace. We had a great room overlooking the pool and the Ocean on the 7th floor. The room was in great condition and was kept very clean by our housekeeper. The hallway was also kept very clean and mopped daily. The pool area was very nice. The beach was kept clean. If I had to complain about anything it would be the availability of chairs on the beach and around the pool. In fairness, this problem exists just about everywhere on Palm Beach unless you pay extra to reserve chairs or a palapa. Just like a cruise ship, people get up early and put their towels on the chairs to reserve them. Then they hardly use them during the day. Many of the beach chairs had broken backs. Instead of removing them they were just put back in the stack for the next day. Many days I would watch people grab chairs and drag them out by the ocean only to realize one or two were broken. Then they would have to drag them back up to the stack of chairs and get two more. It seems it would make more sense to just remove them to minimize the frustration of people wanting to use them.

we were given rooms on the 3rd floor. They were nice but a little older and had an awful \"ocean View\" it was completely blocked by the building outside. One simple phone call to the front desk and they moved us the following day to the 6th floor. Those rooms were awesome.....newly remodeled, clean, and a fantastic ocean view. Staff were incredible the entire time. ONE HAPPY ISLAND!!

BAthrooms should have some sort of venting system, hot and humid everything stayed damp. Expected better food, below standard's compared to other RIU properties i've stayed at. Staff for the most part was very friendly. Not sure why but had to ask for Wash Cloths everyday, they were not delivered when towels were exchanged. Pool was very nice and always clean but feel it closes to early. Beach was always clean with beautiful views. Construction started way too early 6:00 AM

Overall a great experience. This was our second trip to the Riu in Aruba, our first trip was 10 years ago to the adults only side of the hotel. We do prefer the family friendly side as the pool is larger and there are more restaurants and amenities to choose from. We did a quicker trip this time, and were there over the weekend and only 2 weekdays. The weekend there was minimal to no construction which was great, and on the weekdays the construction wasn't too disruptive. The only issue was they were peeling off the old paint and with the Aruban winds it was all flying off into the pool area. Again, it didn't bother us much but it definitely bothered some so just beware.

We had no issues finding seats by the pool or the beach - just need to get up early and head out to save some before heading to breakfast.

All the workers from the front desk to the restaurants to the pool/beach staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. Just as they were 10 years ago when we last visited! Hoping to be back again - and not in another decade!

I had a great time at Riu Palace Aruba - the room itself was very good with a wonderful view, the facilities and stuff were very nice and friendly - trying to accommodate requests as much as possible.
I celebrated my birthday at the property and they sent a chocolate cake to my room which was very sweet!
Being a vegetarian, the only thing that i think could have been better was the food options in the restaurants. They were no vegetarian options which was sad but the chefs tried to make something on request.

The staff for the most part were nice. However, the room was dirty when we went in. Salt and sand all over the floor, a sock and bracelet in the couch. The restaurants would not allow us to eat at them. They have a ridiculous policy of reservations required, which doesn’t make since at an all inclusive. But they only take a small amount of the all inclusive customers. They only want the paying customers. I paid for this, a large amount actually, to stay and enjoy every amenity for a week and we could not get into one restaurant except for the Don Nicolas.
There was a tiff at the palapas on the beach. A man came down and kicked people off of an area saying it was his and he had been there since January 30th. The manager or supervisor came over and shook hands with this man. However, there are clear signs on each palapa that states they are open to all. If you are gone for more than 2 hours the palapa is open to anyone again. The fact that the staff let this man claim one as his own is a joke and favorites should never happen.
I had to purchase a 2nd room due to my daughter’s snoring. They would not even give me a deal. For four additional nights I was charged $2975. I am so disappointed in RIU Palace. I will never promote this hotel nor visit it again.
And Expedia is a scam. I booked all inclusive, adults only hotel. Be aware that RIU palace is the family hotel. Expedia lied about the palace being adults only.

I came back an hour later. They said I was still waiting for a table and it was 10 tables ahead of me which makes no sense at all.. This was my 3rd trip to Aruba and 3rd time staying @Hotel Riu. I traveled solo on this trip. I was originally placed in a room on the 3rd floor. It was an older room and had issues (broken toilet and bugs in the shower that came out of the wall). I requested another room and was transferred to the 10th fl. The room was much better; however, issues still existed (water backed up in the shower and the plastic was coming off of the shower door).
If I travel back to Aruba, I would stay at a different place.

Just got back from an awesome stay at the Hotel Riu Palace Aruba, and I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars.
The room was spotless. Bed was very comfortable, everything felt fresh. Perfect for crashing after a long day in the sun.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Everyone from the front desk to the bar folks had big smiles and were quick to help with whatever we needed. Made the whole vibe feel welcoming and relaxed.
Food-wise, the restaurants were top notch. Plenty of variety, everything tasted great. The shops on-site were solid too—grabbed a few souvenirs without having to venture far.
And the pool and beach areas were fantastic. Right on Palm Beach with that gorgeous white sand and clear water, and the swim-up bar was super convenient. The whole setup just screamed chill paradise mode. Spent most days bouncing between the beach, pool, and a cold drink.
Overall, if you're heading to Aruba, this spot is a winner. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

This is our second time staying at Riu. One of the reasons we chose Riu was for the steakhouse. We were very disappointed that it is only available every other day. We did not see that on the Riu website. The Italian restaurant does not offer traditional Italian foods
The rooms and pool were very nice. Staff weren’t as friendly this trip. Very rarely a smile except from the housekeeping staff. Most likely will not return

We booked a ocv room and had a building directly in front of us with a pov Rm 720 &719. We paid additional $1000 for those rooms. They offer a $590 resort access credit, very misleading. When we inquired to get a massage which was $180 they told us we could get $25 credit toward that. Lastly we were advised that there was going to be construction on the bar restaurant that was supposed to be finished in December but they had a whole wing of the hotel under construction with loud noise and some areas cut off during the whole stay. The kiddie camp was closed. The playground was closed. We were traveling with a four-year-old . Again it was very misleading. The staff was wonderful ,very courteous.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at Riu Palace Aruba. I booked and paid for a Junior Suite with Ocean View, but the accommodations and overall experience fell far below what is expected from a resort of this caliber.
Upon check-in, we were assigned Room 305, which was in unacceptable condition. The air conditioning did not work, there was no internet access, and the television was nonfunctional. The room also had a strong moldy odor, and the sofa was visibly torn and covered in mildew. We contacted the front desk around 11:00 AM to request assistance. Despite four follow-up calls throughout the day, no one came to address the issues until around 8:00 PM, only after we had already decided to change rooms due to the lack of response.
For the second night, we were moved to Room 295, where the situation worsened. We encountered cockroaches on two consecutive nights. When we requested to be moved again, we were told no other rooms were available, forcing us to remain in a room with an active pest issue. We even had to place towels along the bottom of the door to prevent insects from entering. This was unacceptable, especially at a resort advertised as luxury.
Room 295 also presented additional problems. There was no elevator servicing that area, making it difficult to transport luggage. The room was located close to ground level, resulting in excessive nighttime noise, and once again, the television did not work. None of this aligned with what we paid for.

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Hotel Riu Palace Aruba. The hotel is located in a great location with great beaches and vibrant nightlife. The property was very clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was diverse and very good throughout our stay. To top it off, the New Year’s Eve at the Moomba Restaurant was exceptional and a true highlight of the trip. While seating around the beach and pool was limited during peak times, it did not detract from an otherwise excellent overall experience.

The frontline staff at RIU Aruba are genuinely friendly and want to help, and they deserve credit for their attitude. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the administrative staff, who came across as patronizing when issues arose and seemed to have very little autonomy or common sense in resolving them.

Our experience started off poorly when they refused to let my wife check in without me, despite our flights being delayed separately. That set the tone. We then ran into multiple issues with both check-in and our room. We were repeatedly told things like “a bed is being sent,” only to be told later that it wasn’t possible—sometimes after we’d already been moved to another room. The lack of coordination was frustrating, and we often had to argue just to get solutions that were logical and reasonable.

The property itself is also poorly maintained. During our stay, part of the pool bar actually broke and fell onto guests, which was alarming. Room cleaning was inconsistent as well—we often had to wait until late in the day for service.

The food was another major disappointment. While you can eventually find something edible, the overall quality and presentation are very poor for a resort of this size and reputation.

Overall, you do get what you pay for in this area, but given the disorganization, maintenance issues, and food quality, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel and would not return.
