The dinner plans are nice but they only let you dine so many times. Example….we were here for 10 days and they only let us do reservations five times. The buffets are ok but not the best options. Room amenities is a joke. They never filled our room fridge and when I called to ask for soda they never delivered it. They wouldn’t restock my coffee an at one point left me with a coffee maker without the pot! I love Aruba but will never do the Barcelo again.

Really a disappointment for the price they charge. The place has a vibe of a discount 3* hotel and not the 5* resort they are claiming to be. It's all-inclusive but the quality of the food is quite low. The meat and fish at the buffet often looked old and tired and tasted accordingly. I'm not picky but even I often had trouble finding something at the buffet I could eat that wasn't junk food. The restaurants that require a reservation are not much better. The staff are nice enough but not very effective: for example, there is often a long line to get seated at the buffet for no good reason. Probably chasing tips, the staff are busy serving drinks - something that the patrons could easily get themselves - instead of turning over tables. Even though it's \"all inclusive\", the tipping culture is pervasive: tip boxes are everywhere and there seems to be an expectation of a tip for every single interaction with the staff. For any requests or issues with the room, multiple calls have to be made, the first call is always ignored. Air conditioning was not working at the gym regardless of how many requests were made to fix it. As far as I know, a large portion of the guests are there on a timeshare, so they have no choice. That would explain the complacency.

The hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The beds were kind of hard, but all things considered it wasn’t a huge deal. I will say, we paid for the royal level room, and when we got there we were told there was no restaurant reservations for the entirety of our stay. I feel as though royal level should have first dibs on reservations, or at least be guaranteed dinner at the all inclusive restaurants we paid for. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. There were many people, and it never felt overly crowded. I don’t know that I would upgrade to royal level again, given the circumstances, but our overal experience was wonderful with the staff and room.

Great view of the ocean from our room. We were upgraded upon arrival to a suite which gave us a second bathroom. Friendly staff all around. Buffet food was okay. Great omelette station. We didn't eat in any of the sit down restaurants. Bar drinks were great. Pool environment was fun. Had to get up by 6am to reserve chairs.

Yes, the view to the ocean was good. The rooms were super small. The balcony was small. The food was good on the royal level. The hibachi restaurant was excellent. The staff was amazing. However, trying to get a beach chair or pool chair was terrible. The resort definitely needs to invest in more chairs if they are going to accommodate that many guest. We did get some help from the staff, thankfully to help a few days, but when people are leaving towels on their chairs to save, but they’re gone half the day is unacceptable. Overall, we had a great visit. The beach was beautiful. The shows could’ve been better but the staff was amazing and the food was good.

Restaurant staff were friendly and professional. Housekeeping staff for our room was not friendly and did not have enough towels. They even put back wet towels instead of getting clean towels. I requested mini bar be stocked with water and everyday I had to call and eventually go down to front desk. Our first time at Barcelo and will not return again.

I was very disappointed with the Barcelo hotel. I have always wanted to go to Aruba, and this was not the experience I expected
When I checked in at the lobby desk, nobody told me I had a separate concierge check-in on the ninth floor as a royal guest. There was very little information given to me about the perks of being a royal guest, such as a specific bar on the beach, or assistance with reservations. We were unable to get reservations to eat at the hotel many nights and had to eat on our own in town, even though we had paid for an in all inclusive experience. The food we did eat was not very good, esp. the main building buffet and the royal restaurant on the. 9th floor. Jason, the waiter at the sushi restaurant continually attempted to be funny, but came off as very obnoxious, the woman in the towel kiosk was also very rude, and I found the Spanish woman at the first desk in the royal reception also to be a bit disinterested . The other woman at the royal reception, I believe her name was Stephanie was very helpful and pleasant. Trying to get a drink at the lobby bar took about 15 to 20 minutes of standing there waiting for them to serve you and there were three bartenders working and it wasn’t that busy. Any of the drinks I had from the bar tasted watered down.
They only came to turn down our beds the first night and I was already in bed so they didn’t do it that night. I never saw them again.
I definitely do NOT think the Barcelo was worth the money I paid.

We loved specialty restaurants! Especially seafood.
It was nice that we could make reservations for a week at convenient times.
Lobby bar was excellent.
Pool bar had great frozen drinks. We were even surprised by that!
The only problem was getting a pool or beach chair. But it’s because people reserve them and don’t use them until 11:00 am or later. Need to get outside no later 6:00am to get a lounge.
In general we had a nice time!

Most of our experience was good. The dining room, restaurant service, and beach staff (especially Hudson) were excellent. The front desk was terrible. Checking in, getting service for our TV and a disturbance at 2:30 am (our neighbors door was wide open with tv blaring took 40 minutes for staff to respond) needs improvement. We found the Barcela to be noisy, crowded (not enough beach and pool chairs). We probably will not stay there again.

Exceptional location on the beach - lots of palm trees to sit under - and on the main strip (restaurants, shops etc.) Good food at the buffet and specialty restaurants, great cocktail selection at the lobby bar! The ONLY suggestion we have is to remove the big old broken universal weight machine that's in the fitness centre, to allow for more space.

George is as professional as they come. Super nice, quick witted, and very particular in how he presents himself, and his dinner service is 2nd to NONE!….Nice job George. See you next year!

The room was very clean, could have used more towels. The staff at each restaurant was exceptional. I have a seafood allergy and they took extra care and I never felt at risk. The food was very good as well. The grounds were well kept and clean.Better management of beach chairs too many people saving chairs and not using them for hours while we didn’t have any. Overall great week and we will be back!

We had an amazing family holiday escape at the Barcelona. Immaculate attention to details, attentive and caring staff with pride displayed within every interaction.

Restaurant reservations are needed but appreciated during peak Christmas/new year week as it’s virtually impossible to get a reservation or table offsite for 6! Bar staff is amazing —welcoming with wonderful entertainment and quality drinks!

Only suggestion… a deli sandwich/salad bar during the day. Light fare, grab and go beach lunch boxes would be amazing upgrade! Otherwise wonderful stay and we look forward to staying again—- you can’t beat the location!

Desk staff was rude at check in. Was told the room would be ready at 4pm. Came back at 4:22pm, the room was not ready and I was asked to wait for an undetermined amount of time. All other people in our travel group proceeded to get their rooms. By 5:05 no one informed me of any update so I had to ask again. The room took another 10 minutes. After walking halfway across the hotel to what looked like a jail hallway of rooms, my key did not work. Once access to the room was sorted, there was hair all over the bathroom, sand on the floor and left over items in the garbage. The safe also did not work.

The facilities generally speaking leave much to be desired and unless you’re trying to diet, the food is below edible standards. There are no chairs at the pool or beach left by 8am and drinks are sub par at best.

The food was not that good. The buffets lacked changing of foods and quality. The waiters were very slow to return to see if you needed a drink. The only place that was good was the Hibachi place. The rest were not that good. The rib eye was good. The entertainment at the pool was a joke. Every once in a while they would connect a phone and play music. Not even island music. No entertainment. The drinks were watered down. Nightlife is really boring. 2nd time here and this will be the last.

Despite numerous attempts could not get a face cloth from the staff, ice machine on second floor didn’t work the whole time we were there. Room was outdated. Check in process took an hour. They initially give us a room with a rolling bed. We had to argue to get 2 beds. Shower was not clean. Had hair beads and hair ties in it from previous guest. No towels first night. Lights in room didnt work. Was suppose to have complimentary reservations for dinner at the royal restaurant promised by desk staff. That was not the case. For the price we paid for thia trip, it was not worth it. Will not be back at this resort

The beach at Barcelo is amazing!! It has tons of chairs and palm trees. The sand is nice and you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool and grounds are beautiful and well kept. However, the rooms are very dated. The beds are pretty hard, the air conditioning is super loud and they won’t let you turn it off and when we asked them to turn it down, they didn’t do it. The door to the balcony rattled because it didn’t seal. The shower in the bathroom was amazing. The buffet is ok but the dinners at the restaurants in the resort are fabulous!! The drinks were ok. I’m sure they use cheap liquor and they pour them strong. I would recommend Barcelo and I would definitely stay here again.

The Barcelo Aruba is ok! The staff, wonderful and accommodating. The food was a solid 3. There were portions of the buffet that were inedible. The chicken for one. The all-inclusive part isn’t really worth it because you’ll end up eating out a lot. The hotel sent me a preference sheet prior to check in which I returned promptly. Upon arrival I was told none of the preferences could be accommodated. Why send the sheet if you can’t accommodate? There were other guest in line with me with the same issue and the staff at check in were not interested in answering why our preferences could not be met. I think there are better options on the island for the same amount of money. The good news is there was enough beach seating each day and the staff worked hard to help find seats. I would look at all options before thinking Barcelo is a good option.

We have stayed at the Barceló 4-5 times. The staff are amazing and the food has improved tremendously since post Pandemic.

I will say my husband and I are highly disappointed that the Barcelo no longer maintains the water features for the iguanas next to the buffet due to an ignorant guest that decided to hand feed an iguana, supposedly was bitten and then said they were going to sue the Barcelo. I truly believe the Barcelo should be supportive of the iguanas since they are native to Aruba and are protected. The guest should be banned from the island and retrospectively sued for not complying with the rules to not feed the wildlife.

housekeeping staff did not provide enough towels each day and when asked for extra towels did not comply. Overall the complete staff was pleasant, smiling and courteous!
I was in room #1202. Across the hall was an employee door that loudly slammed closed each time used; about 15 to 20 every morning from 5:45am till10:00am. It interrupted my sleep several times during the night especially in the morning. This was the only issue the resort was excellent on every other thing they offered and provided.

I spent a lot of money to go here Aruba is very nice but this hotel is not worth it the bed sheet were dirty when we arrived the the tv remote did not work the ac also did not work the room door was peeling of paint then in the shower the soap dispenser were broken then we you go to dinner the table clothes are all stained or ripped half the menus are missing pages I was unfortunately not pleased at all for the amount of money I spent on this trip.

The hotel is pretty and very well located. It has two towers of rooms,abit massive but as most hotels.
Accomodations were ok, but rooms seem a little small as per my opinion. We were three and with the extra bed, the room was too crowded. There was barely space for storage and we had to repeatedly ask for towels.
Staff was mostly friendly and food was very tasty and offered varieties and gluten free alternatives. Specialty restaurants were very good, specially the one located by the pool/beach.
The only thing I can mark as negative was the cleaning. Terrible timing and a horrible job (specially the bathroom), if they improve this aspect, I will surely grant them 5 stars.
