Stayed here for 5 nights. Room was clean just carpeted. Bathroom was spacious for being in Europe. Walking distance to Metros and good location overall. Loads of food options if you don’t want to venture too far. Great gluten free bakery a few doors down. Would stay here again.

Total disappointment compared to other Melia properties we have stayed at. Rooms are degraded and disgusting. The paint is peeling of the walls, toilets are yellow inside. You are not allowed to turn on AC in room based on temperature outside. Handles fall off doors, Doors look like they have been eaten by termites. We only stayed one night and left. We could not stay there any longer. The manager will not give us face after she told us to wait for her 5 mins. We waited 44 ins and she never showed up. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was my 46 bday and my 10 year wedding anniversary. Terrible experience. The rooms do not look like the pictures. Please be aware.

We had a terrible time at this hotel. The rooms are dated, door handles are falling off doors etc. I booked a premium double room and got one with two single beds. The room was extremely noisy. We asked to change it and the staff was extremely rude and said its not their obligation to change it. Finally they agreed. In the new room, the shower gel ran out, the dispenser broke and it took some effort to get that changed. Rubbish was not all cleared either after the turn down service.
Upon check out they tried to add on a mini bar charge but we do not drink and did not consume anything from the minibar. Overall, awful service, staff and I would not stay here again if they paid me to do so.

Cannot Recommend This Hotel, It’s Disappointing

We booked a City View room and were put into a non-City View room. The room was tiny, cramped, dingy, and dark with a view of the surrounding buildings. Our request for a refund has not been answered. This was a very disappointing stay in an expensive (for what we got) hotel.

You get what you pay for.

The unvacuumed rug was dirty in my room as well as the narrow hallway leading to it. There was no air conditioning. No air movement at all. When I inquired with the front desk about the lack of air in the room, I was told that the hotel is only contracted to have air conditioning until September. She sent a fan to my room, which turned out to be filthy-dusty and noisy. Pillows were uncomfortable. Woke up with a back ache.

Stolen content from room

We came to the hotel to find out the room we had booked was not available. They asked to stay in a room with a double bed for the night and informed us that they would move our luggage to the new room the next day when it’s available.

The next morning as requested we packed and offered to move our luggage to the new room ourselves. They told us the room was not ready yet, but just to leave the luggage in the room in one area and they would move it for us.

When we came back to the hotel later that day, they had moved 5 of the 6 bags to the new room. The 6th bag had multiple wine bottles we had got from Champagne, France. The entire bag was missing. We informed the hotel of this and they said they would look into it right away and would make good on what had transpired. We had to check out the next day and I was informed by the manager that the director would contact me by Wednesday to address the issue and compensate us. Director never called. When I did finally got a hold of her, she stated we moved all the bags and can’t do anything. Essentially stating she can’t help us- whereas the manager on the shift had stated they have suspicions on who it could it be. I asked her to check video footage and she remained silent.

I am filing a police complaint and requesting damages for stolen goods and my entire stay.

DO NOT book here. I waited to write this, hoping that customer service would compensate for all the trouble, but they have not. She was plain rude.

This hotel has definitely been around a while. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The breakfast was on par with what you might see at in other European hotels. The floor in my room was very creaky and whoever was below me could hear every step I’m sure. When people in other rooms would smoke, it seeped into my room. My room key has to be activated every time I left my room which was not ideal. I feel the location is out of the way which makes the taxi rides more expensive so I’m personally not likely to stay here again.

The value for the money was not so good. The location is nice and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the 1st and the 8th etc. But the room was very small - think a Tokyo hotel room, and the bathroom was so terribly small that one had to sit sideways on the toilet because there was no room for legs between the toilet and the wall. Absurd.

The room had a strange odor. It's an older building and although it is in a quiet neighborhood sounds within the hotel were louder than the average hotel.

Neighborhood is a relatively quiet, non touristy area and staff were very nice. Large rooms for the price.

I stayed at this hotel on my last night in Paris, looking for a hotel that was closer to the \"touristy\" part of town so I could spend a little more time with the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysees. For a last minute booking, it was fine, but I definitely expected more from a well-rated hotel. When I arrived the man at the front desk asked if I wanted to upgrade to a \"Superior Room\" for 40 Euros and I said sure. If that was the superior room, I'm terrified what my previous double room would have looked like. The double bed was just two twin beds shoved together, and both twin beds were insanely uncomfortable--hard as rocks. I found the room and hotel to be very dated overall. You can also hear everything everyone else is doing. I'm not talking city sounds; I'm from Manhattan so I actually love city street noise. I'm talking every cough, every shower another person is taking, etc. I had just stayed at the Renaissance Republique for the week, which was lovely and modern so maybe I was just spoiled from that stay. The location is on a side street about a 15 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe and main shopping on the Champs Elysees, which was nice. Staff was friendly.

Great Location in the Heart of Paris

We just stay for one night, and we regret not staying more. The location were amazing, walking distance, to trocadero, champs elysse, arc de triumph. The rooms were small but cozy, as everything in Europe.

Hotel staff was great. Always friendly and always proper. A few bad things are 1) it says airport shuttle, well that's a private car that is $60 euro. it is not free so do not think that. 2) Walls are thin so can hear things going on around you at time.
On the Good side. Location is great short walk to the tower and the Arc and perfect for shopping right around the hotel and down by the Arc. But i mad add around the hotel is a little expensive.
Pictures are misleading as with other hotels in Europe rooms are very tiny and condensed. Bed is the size of a bull bed. so 2 twin beds basically, but that is how most of Europe is. Hotel seemed to be very clean plus had breakfast and bar. I did not utilize but nice to have, even though they are a bit expensive. Overall great location great staff. A little pricey for everything else. If I was in Paris and the price was a little lower I would stay here again.

This is small hotel in great location ,very close to metropolitan
Eiffel tower,Arc de triumph and Champsélysées ,very clean,nice helpful stuff but for two people standart Quinn bed room is extremaly small, it has only shower ,small sink ,no room even to open shower doors or closet doors, rooms are not very well isolated, can hear the noise and coffe smell from the other rooms.
Apparently premium rooms have Espresso coffe maker but not the standart rooms.i DO NOT recommend standart room!!!!!!!

Frustrating experience.

We paid for 3 people (double room with rollaway bed specified) and were advised when we arrived that 3 people were not allowed in our room. Even though we produced the reservation papers showing 3 people, we were told we would have to pay an extra 500 euro for the third person. We promptly cancelled our reservation and asked for a refund. It took a long time to get the situation addressed and in the end we needed to find a new hotel at 11 pm at night. I would never stay there again and would not recommend it to others due to false advertising of rooms and space.

We like to try different districts when we go to Paris The Melia is in such a great area and the room was large and overlooking a courtyard with an oak tree. The bathroom had a dream tub. We always stay in four stars and this two week vacation in 4 different locations ended with a night in this, the best hotel of the stay.

I found the hotel very clean, the staff courteous and helpful, the room size excellent and the beds comfortable. The staff all spoke very good English, check-in and out was easy and baggage storage on our last day wasn't a problem. The water pressure for the shower could have been better but the water was hot at all times of the day.

The location is excellent for exploring Paris - less than 5 mins walk to the Victor Hugo Metro station, about 10 mins to Trocadero. Stroll through the park and you're at the Eiffel Tower in less than 20 mins or in the opposite direction and you're at the Arc de Triomphe in the same amount of time. The hotel is surrounded by nice shops and not far to walk to bars and restaurants.

The breakfast was really good - choice of the typical continental breads/croissant/pastries/cold meats and cheeses, plus fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, juices and small selection of hot items - bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, eggs which you could boil yourself, Spanish omelette. Choice of teas or fresh coffee.

I'd certainly stay here again and would recommend. Having stayed in a number of hotels in this kind of price range in London and various other cities in Europe, I have come to expect fancy reception areas and shabby rooms - that's what you always seem to get in London. This hotel was much better than that - a pleasant surprise.

It's a great hotel located in a nice location. Spacious and helpful staff. However one small problem is when you need hot water, room service is the only way to get it. there is no jug kettle in room. So for those who needs hotwater to drink from time to time, you might need a travel kettle with you.

Went to Paris for the New Year period, me & my friend were unsure as to what to expect as neither of us had visited Paris before. We arrived at Melia Alexander - which was right near the Arc De Triomphe & we were greeted by a lovely lady who spoke perfect English & she explained all the facilities, provided us with a map & directed us to where the local sights were (Eiffel Tower, Opera House, Louvre Museum etc) & also the location of the Metro station to get to where we needed to be. Staff as a whole were 5* & they accommodated all of our needs - very impressed.

The room itself was impressive, clean & all the facilities were provided & the beds were comfortable.

Overall the experience was fantastic & we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice and relaxing stay!

VERY small bed, noisy neighbours, unhelpful staff

I arrived at my hotel to an unhelpful night porter who gave me my key without explaining where to go. I had to ask him which way my room and the lift etc were and he pointed.I arrived into my room, and I use the term room very loosely, which was absolutely tiny and had a single bed. The description of the 'club room' said I would have a double but this most certainly wasn't a double bed.The room was incredibly small with very little room to move around but it was clean, as was the bathroom. I went straight to bed but could not sleep as there were some very noisy neighbours in the room next to mine who were playing drinking games and throwing things against the wall we were sharing. I called down to reception three times who said there was nothing they could do, after all, what could they do, they couldn't smack them (?!). They then suggested that if I spoke Russian, I should go and tell them to be quiet myself. Their party eventually finished after 2 of them were sick (very noisily) and I finally went to sleep at about 4am. I will certainly NEVER stay at this hotel again!

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was a bit smaller than expected...but very clean. The biggest bonus was the location. A quick walk to the Eiffel Tower and Arch DeTriumph. Don't miss the blinking lights on the tower at 8 p.m.! The street is safe and upscale. It's probably not worth buying the breakfast there as there are so many places nearby that are less money. Overall, we would stay there again if it was just the two of us. It would be difficult to go with a family though.

Booked this hotel for a surprise night away for my wife's 40th birthday. Great hotel and easy walking distance from metro. Staff very friendly and helpful and had emailed them before visiting to organise a surprise bottle of wine - Layla was very helpful. I booked a superior room which had lots of extras such as dressing gowns and bathroom products. Room size was adequate and bathroom very plush. Shower was hot and good strength but narrow spray and not higher enough for me. Also minibar and safe. Location was perfect - 10 to 15 minutes walk to Eiffel Tower. Restaurants nearby looked nice but we had dinner at Bistrotters in Montparnasse (about 30mins on metro). Overall, lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable. Perfect location.

We celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary at this delightful boutique hotel. I was thoroughly impressed with the spaciousness of our room. We declined the staff's offer to upgrade our room and when we went in the room it was so nice I thought they must have upgraded us anyway. My husband checked at the front desk and we were told we were in the standard room. Trust me, there is no reason to upgrade, the standard rooms are great. The location was perfect & we took short walks to the Arc de Triumphe and Eiffel Tower.

Hotel is located within walking distance from Victor Hugo station. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. It's a smallish hotel so you feel like you get personal attention. Breakfast is an additional cost and not included in your booking. There are pleanty of options within walking distance of the hotel. There is a Starbucks and Subway just 30m on either side of the hotel. All taxes are included in your bill so not extra cost upon check-out. Bathrooms are clean are fairly up to date. I personally would have preferred a shower instead of a bathtub with that silly glass that doesn't really help.

Location.....Location....Location! Great location for a weekend in Paris, staff fantastic, Superior room 1st class- didn't have breakfast thought it was too pricey! Great bistro's around the hotel- 5 mins to the Arc de Triomphe on foot and less than 10 the the Eiffel tower- Victor Hugo metro a 2 minute walk- would use his hotel again.

Great hotel in the best location in Paris

The reason to stay at this hotel is its location. It is in the center of one of the finest areas of Paris and only a few blocks from Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The hotel itself is very small as are its rooms. My double bed consisted of two twin beds but they did not separate when I slept on them. The buffet breakfast was about 12 Euros and worth every penny. There is no lobby per se or place to hang out at the hotel in the evening. You can go outside one block to find a series of bistros with outdoor seating to do that. Bottom line is this is a 3.5- 4 star hotel with nice small rooms, minimal facilities, in one of the great locations of Paris.

We only took the standard room although we did have a chance to upgrade to a larger one. It was a cute Boutique Hotel!! I would stay there again,just get a larger room. Staff were
very friendly and accomodating in answering questions for tourists!

Pro: If it's important to you - especially as an international traveller - to be greeted and helped by a staff of people who put your comfort as their highest priority, then Melia Alexander Boutique Hotel on Victor Hugo is the place for you to stay. In addition, not only is a Metro stop closeby (Place de Victor Hugo) but the Arc de Triomphe is just down the street from Place de Victor Hugo. The Place also has a couple of cafes and a super marche (VERY handy!). The rooms are spotless and the housekeeping staff is extraordinarily detail-oriented in maintaining the cleanliness of your room.
Negative: WiFi only available in lobby (iPads/iPhones). Computer cable available in room. No restaurant service except for breakfast buffet (25€)
