This was a great hotel in a quieter area of Amsterdam, but within walking distance of the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, and Vondelpark. If we wanted to go further, the bus system was easy to use and the stop was close enough to walk to. A grocery store a few blocks away and a few restaurants made the location even more perfect for our family. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful during our stay and the room was comfortable for my family of five.

Located in a quite part of Amsterdam. The rooms are ok for that price. Stayed there 4 nights and had fundamental issue with people smoking weed all night on the same floor. They say it is a smoke free hotel, but is it! The smell was spreading out all over the corridor and obviously to each of the rooms there. I think the hotel should do something about this, I did speak to reception about it during my check out, they apologised.

I was here for a week and really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Had to use the late night pizza option when Uber failed me; hit the spot nicely. The location is great and within easy walking distance to transport and local food places.

Basement rooms are a bad choice

Basement rooms are inhuman,, room is very small that it is a hard job to reach the other side of the bed .. zero sound proof .. you can hear clearly the sound of urination of the guests in the upper room and then sound of flushing the toilet.. beside noise in the street as there is a small window at ground level with no sound proof glass .. bed is not bad but not suitable for persons longer than 180 cm .. housekeeping is OK .. and location also is good

An inadequate double room

Saw little of the staff. They were helpful when approached. Our double room would have been inadequate for one person alone. The bathroom was minute - you could sit on the loo & have a shower at the same time. They had changed our booking from a twin to a double but without telling us of the limitations of the room they’d given us.

This is the 4th time I’ve stayed at The Alfred and will definitely be back again. The staff are great, the rooms are good sized and modern (also thanks for the free upgrade last time!). Conveniently located in a quiet area but great transport links to the museums/centre and walkable to De Pijp and very close to Vondelpark.

Good quiet location a short walk away from a tram stop. The neighbourhood felt safe and quiet. The room was basic but comfortable and clean and there was an in room fridge which was a bonus.

Super neighborhood and excellent location

We stayed 2 nights here with family , it’s in a nice neighborhood . Lot of food options around, the Albert’s super store is just around the corner. Buy a day tram pass if you are in the city for atleast a single day, it’s worth it. The city/amsterdam central is just 10 minutes by tram. Wander through the streets and get lost in the city. The night views and food options are fantabulous. Sorry we were there just 2 nights, should have stayed more.

So so hotel. Very beautiful from the outside and in a great location. Unfortunately, the hotel is dated and needs a good clean. Carpets etc are just old. Elevator is slow and seems to have a mind of its own. Staff were fine. Neither rude nor friendly.

Bed was not uncomfortable but there was a divot and you could tell was worn from use.

Bathroom is poorly laid out with the shower directly spraying water into the toilet area which will inevitably get everything wet.

Room isn’t tiny - plenty of space and includes a closet. No usb outlets etc. pretty basic interior.

Caution, if you book a regular room you may be given a windowless basement room without warning or compensation. Mechanical sounds throughout the night and sewer aromas are also possible.

We booked our stay via expedia which had 2 options a small double room or a standard double room. One showing pictures with a balcony one without, after seeing the pictures we decided to go for the one with the balcony. We paid 15 euro for an hour early check it to arrive back at the hotel for other guests to be checking in for free. Then when we arrived at our room to our disappintment it was a tiny room with no balcony.
We went back to the check in desk and asked the receptionist if there had been some mistake, to her response she said everything was as it should be and not all rooms can have a balcony. Advising again this is what we paid for she responsed with \"what do you want me to do about it\". Not a great customer response after hours of travelling to get to Amsterdam. Nevertheless our towels were changed everyday and is a great location with a tram stop only 4 minutes away.

Great location, not so great hotel

The hotel is in a great location - 5 minutes to the museums, 2 minutes to shops and juice bars and 15 minute cycle or tram to the centre.

The hotel itself is pretty basic. It is largely self service, albeit it is staffed. Most staff don’t really seem that interested. We asked for a thicker duvet for 2 days and were told it was on its way - it did not arrive.

The rooms were tired and worn with evidence of damage that had been poorly repaired. The bathroom was poorly laid out, meaning it largely flooded each time we took a shower.

The walls are paper thin, the beds uncomfortable and despite the location, it really is an over priced budget hotel. Probably ok for somewhere to rest off a night on the town, but not great for families or travellers looking for a decent place to stay.

The hotel was in a great location! We loved being in the Museum Quarter rather than right in the centre of Amsterdam. Only downside was that we didn’t have a mini fridge in our room (I’m sure it’s written somewhere, I just didn’t see it). The front desk staff were super friendly and helped us out with many questions we had about the area!

This hotel is located in a great area that I absolutely love. My only bad points about the hotel would be, when we checked in we were told we got an upgraded room and it was so small we were barely able to walk around to the beds. No place for our suitcases and no lights without a key and no individual switch for the batheoom light ao you jist had to leavd it on until it turnes over. Also when we tried to get a pizza we were told they weren’t available.

Great Stay!

Had a great stay at The Alfred hotel. Room is not very spacious and the floor lamp would not stand straight, but beds were comfortable and overall very clean. Easy walk to museums near by and about 20-30min to city center. Bonus points for how close the 397 line to the airport is to the hotel. Same bus also takes you to city center. Reception could have been a bit more helpful about recommendations, but she was nice at least! Would stay again.

We really liked staying at this hotel. They have bikes you can rent, which was fun, but make sure to check the bike before you take it, cause some are not in the best shape. The area around the hotel is very quiet and peaceful, and it’s not too far from the museums. There are also some really good coffee shops you can walk to. One more thing we liked, there was no weed smell near the hotel, which was nice. Overall, a good place to stay!

Room was underground with no natural light, had incredibly loud noises from the plumbing all day and night. There was an awful smell coming from the room, like sewage for the last 2 days we were there. The towels were not replaced each day meaning we had to keep asking for more.

The showe had a steep step to get in and out, and leaked water absolutley everywhere whenever used. Would not stay here again.

Facilities were ok. Room size was fine.

However, I barely slept. The walls were paper thin and I could hear conversations in all neighbouring rooms including the room above me clear as day, unfortunately one of which included a bunch of friends getting drunk into the early hours. The sound of doors slamming down the corridor was constant.

Secondary to this is the hotel have double charged me for the room despite paying in advance via Expedia. Still trying to resolve that issue with Expedia.

I have stayed here several times now. I really love this hotel. it is a small walk away from a couple of restaurants. also a small walk away from trams and buses. I lovely little walk and you will be able to get to the supermarket, also close enough to the city centre to walk whilst also being far enough away that you don't feel like you're in the middle of everything perfect Hotel.

Very nice hotel for 3 stars. The room they booked us into had a bunk bed that wasnt suitable for little children but they were quickly moved us into another room with 2 single beds. Very clean and easy to get to everywhere!! Got there early but they looked after our bags at reception.

Lovely weekend stay option for a couple

Great sized standard double room, with an en-suite and room cleaning every day. Bus and tram stops less than 5 mins away. Brunch cafe right across the street and more in less than 5 mins walk. The museums square is only 15 min walk away (where Van Gogh museum is). Nice view out of the window, warm in January, clean sheets. The walls a bit dirty, but that’s typical with wallpaper. Easy check in and check out. Great price, cheaper than hostels in the city centre (and this is much quieter area)!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome nothing to much trouble excellent front of house staff.
We stayed in Room 212 which is a large family sized room with 4 single beds large bathroom and window. Couple of small cleaning issues but nothing major, hotel kept clean, about 25 minutes to dam sq, 10 minutes to closest coffee shop, trams etc 3 minutes walk. Supermarket 160yrd away and a couple of cafes and shops.
Would definitely return.

A solid choice for a weekend getaway! The staff were friendly, the location was peaceful, and the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. However, the walk-in shower had drainage issues, causing some flooding during use.
