Staff were excellent. Helpful and friendly. The room was pleasant. Breakfast was good.

I would have preferred a walk-in shower. Rooms were advertised as having either a walk-in shower or a bath. I wasn't asked about my preference when I arrived. I have arthritis in one of my knees and stepping over the bath is starting to get difficult.

It's not really an issue for the hotel but the taxi that was arranged to take us to the Centraal Station on our departure was a hassle. The driver wanted to sell us train tickets and then wanted to drive us to Schiedam for 150 euros. I couldn't see a meter in the cab and was surprised when he charged 35 euros.

Wonderful stay at this nice hotel. We arrived New Year's Eve and were offered traditional Oliebollen which was a nice touch. The hotel has a nice clean, modern and upmarket feel to it, with friendly and helpful staff on hand. Rooms were nicely appointed, spacious with a very comfortable bed and range of pillows. Blackout curtains and soundproofing of rooms was certainly very noticeable. Location is quiet, in an affluent area of Amsterdam and a short walk to Museumplein and into the centre, or catch trams 5 and 14 from nearby Gerrit van der Veenstraat.

The only minor points: for a deluxe room, the wardrobes and storage for clothing were quite minimal. Large wardrobes but with no shelving or drawers which seemed like the space was wasted and not best utilised. Also, the water pressure in the shower could've been better.

Very Disappointing Stay
Check-in was at 4 PM, but even though we arrived earlier, we waited over 4 hours. We were first given the wrong room (twin instead of double), then moved to another room that was dirty and not ready.
The lift was out of service, and reception staff were rude, offering no apologies at all. The manager never came to apologise.
Terrible service and poor management. I do not recommend this hotel.

We booked family room. In the information they sed there is a double bed plus individual sofa bed. We are 2 friends, so we were going to sleep one of us in the bed and the other in the sofa. Fist of all the sofa was for child, so small, second was not ready, they told us if they must to prepare, we should tell in advance and there is an additional cost.
A part of this the room was cold, the termostat did not work or was blocked.

I am sorry to tell that this hotel pretend to be 5 star hotel, but in my opinion is 3 star. In the room there is only cooler, not fridge. The phone in the room does not work, so everything you need from the stuff you must go to the reception. And the most important thing, we were cold in the room. The first night we survive, the second day we tell to the staff in the morning to do something with the termostat (max. temperature was 21,5), she sed she will, Nobody did anything about it, and in the evening we tell again to the staff, they sed to provide a heater in 10 minute and 2 hours later we went down personally to pick up one.

I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at the Bilderberg Garden Hotel was so disappointing that I feel others should know.

From the start, things went wrong. The elevator was broken, and instead of placing me on a floor where it worked, the staff put me on the second floor — the only one affected. To reach the room, staff had to escort us with their key to the third floor, and then we had to walk down the stairs to the second floor. If that’s the setup, they should never have assigned guests to those rooms in the first place — or at the very least offered a change of room or assistance.

No one offered to help with our luggage; we had to carry everything ourselves. I put up the Do Not Disturb sign because I didn’t want housekeeping to enter, yet the cleaners ignored it and came into my room anyway.

When I asked to move to a different floor, the staff refused and showed no empathy or effort to accommodate me, even though there appeared to be availability the following night. The in-room coffee machine was also not working.

Throughout my stay, no one offered any assistance or even an apology. I felt completely disregarded as a guest. I don’t know if this treatment was due to bias or simply poor management, but it was unacceptable.

For a hotel that claims to be high-end, the lack of professionalism and basic hospitality was shocking. I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again.

Lovely boutique hotel in a nice quiet residential area in south. Easy walking distance to van gogh and reijksmyseum.
Nice bistro and bar, and bar staff very pleasant.
Early check in was not available on arrival - and they did notify me that this might happen prior to arrival -so maybe book for day before if coming long distance. Having said that I had a lovely nap in a quiet corner of the bar and when I awoke the maitre d provided a delicious espresso.

As United States Citizens, they did not give us the two twin bed room that we booked for and instead said the “machine decides, we can do nothing” and the machine assigned us a king room (I.e. two attached twin bed frames with a single king mattress). We told them to get us to get us two twin mattresses, and they said no. Trash customer service. Breakfast top of the top (specialty salmon and nuts in addition to an excellent breakfast buffet), but we cannot recommend booking again due to trash customer service to citizens of US.

The hotel was nice but the check in ruined our overall stay. We arrived at 4.20pm when check in was at 4pm and told our room wasn’t ready so we were asked to wait which was fine. When we got to check in not too long later we went to our room which was a twin room when I had booked a double. I asked at reception with the lady who I checked in with and she told me that there were no double rooms as the hotel was fully booked. I spoke to an Expedia agent who contacted the hotel and she told me she had a phone call with Daniel at reception and he would find a solution for me. I went back to reception and stood there as the only person in reception for sometime while Daniel went about his business avoiding me. When I finally got his attention, he could not have been more unhelpful and down right rude. Polite and friendly customer service seemed like it was not something Daniel was equipped with. It took the pleasure out of our stay in the hotel and was the worst check in experience I have ever

We were there on a bus tour and added additional days stay. Upon arrival we asked to stay in the same room after our bus tour ended. Mgr advised the additional days were for a more expensive room. Tarik the on duty manager offered us to stay in the same room and receive a refund for the difference in price. We agreed. The hotel never refunded the difference and per Expedia they will not communicate with them regarding the refund. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

This is not a glorified four star hotel at maximum. Outside building hardly looks like a resident but more like a warehouse. Self check in is ok but you have to wait to find someone to ask any question that you may have: parking, recommended restaurant etc. The fan for AC in our room was making noise so I had to go down and they happily changed the room however the air con is fixed on 22 degree and you can only change the fan speed. As it was cold at night, I went down and they offered an electric heater which I took but not sure this is an ideal way on controlling temp in 5 star hotel. Just to summarise it seems low cost is the priority for the management

Excellent property in an excellent area. Quiet, 5min walk trams and restaurants. Improvement tips, Hair dryer hose in room 1119 was broken but was still able to dry somewhat. Sink drain plug was broken as well. Shower tub was higher than floor which made stepping out tricky at times. All in all, an excellent property and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

GREAT place, near the art district. It's still a walk, but very nice to meander through the streets on your way to the Van Gogh Museum and that area. I took a bus from the airport that left me 2 blocks away. Good way to save a few bucks. Room clean, quiet at night. No complaints and would stay again.

I’ve stayed here a few times and found the Executive rooms lovely and spacious with large windows. I like the quiet location in Zuid away from busy tourist areas. I paid extra for Executive room again and was disappointed with a small, plain room - apart from the separate lift I couldn’t see anything that was special. Room safe not working in first room and bathroom lights not working in second room - small points but seem to indicate lack of care/detail.

My stay was very poor. When I checked in late I had to visit reception three times in order to get my television activated. The manager was unable to and as a result moved me to another room. This new room was situated on the road and i was kept up
All night with outside noise of people outside the hotel.

In addition my room was not made up for night two by housekeeping and there were no visible signs in the room or on or outside door to notify the cleaning staff to do so. The stay was lot for a 5 star hotel you classified. I think credit should be due

I liked the location as it was easy to walk to the central area of Amsterdam. The hotel restaurant served excellent food--we actually preferred eating there as opposed to other places to eat! The staff, especially the restaurant staff, were exceptionally nice!

The only negative--hair in the bathroom tub/floor and the bathroom counter was not clean. My husband wiped it with a tissue and it was pretty gross!

The room that I had felt a little run down. I turned up at checkin time 3pm and no member of staff to be seen. I paid through Expedia but the hotel charged me again for the stay. They didn't refund it minus the tourist tax but then charged me tourist tax separately which they later refunded. All a bit of a hassle. Not a 5* hotel, if I stayed in the area again I'd stay at the Hilton across the road.

This was my first time to Amsterdam and I chose this spot because of other reviews. I'm so glad I did. The staff accommodated an early check in and they offered great dinner suggestions. Easy walking distance to the 2 and 5 tram. Great coffee and food options nearby. My 80 year old father visited too and he enjoyed the elevator and safe walk to transport. I would stay here again.

Quiet place outside city center

Chose this hotel because it was where we met up with our tour group. It is a distance from the city center (cost 50 euros from cruise terminal to hotel by taxi), but not far from the museum district. Tram was about a 7 minute walk away and was easy to access city center via tram. Restaurant was very good. Loved the outside sitting area where we could have drinks and socialize (smoking is allowed in this area).

I'll leave a review for every hotel that I stay at, good or bad.

I came across this hotel after having a bad experience at another hotel in Amsterdam. I checked out of the bad hotel and found this hotel, and I wish I had booked it beforehand. Absolutely five-star service from the minute I entered the hotel until the minute I checked it out of the hotel reception staff, in particular \"Niels and Daniel, looked after me very well and sorted out any issues with my online booking.

The rooms are exceptional. The staff and other hotel guests generally around the building are very polite and welcoming.

I've stayed in Amsterdam 30+ times over the years, and I will never stay at any of the hotels other than this one again. It's quite a distance away from the city centre. 15-minute cycle or around 35-minute walk.

Niels and Daniel thank you, and I owe you a beer next time I stay.
