We think as we booked with Expidia they gave us a rubbish room in the basement (being that we paid a cheap price), we booked a twin, it was set up as a double and we could not move the beds apart properly and they could not move us to another room at the time, so we ended up moving the beds into different parts of the room to make it work no ideal.The beds would probably work well as a double but there very small as singles , my friend fell out of bed and cut his head on the bin.There was no extractor fan working so the bathroom smelt damp.

Good location - tram stop to museums right in front. Clean but the bathroom sink had a huge crack - gouge really.

There was no remote for the tv. We finally got one at the end of second day after asking several times - but tv was broken.

Not nearly enough light in the room

There was no treatment or mat for the shower bottom (tub) so it was very slippery. We had to use towels.

Worth the trip

Surprised distance from centre 50 min walk but did make us use metro and tram .If stay more than 24 hrs buy pass for your stay cost 8eur 24 hour
Number 12 tram takes 22 mins stops outside.
We had upgrade and they kept out luggage at the beginning and end if our stay very pleased. Area Pijp very nice plenty of bars and eateries and a market with street food.

Well this hotel is a tricky one, it's in the process of renovating so some features are great like the lobby area, the lounge. Staff is great, water bottles provided by the hotel is very nice, same for coffee and tea.

The room is clean, it's a retro design so it's a fun experience, the room is old and a few things didn't work well, after pointing it out it was fixed, the room feels old but again an experience.

I do not feel the price 110 euro being charge reflects the rooms, the experience in general, after the renovation i can understand....

One more thing, the room is big, mattress is top notch! Maybe for two ppl more space for clothes is needed, the hot water pressure is low at the 3rd floor, a slow shower or bath 😅.

Location is great, 2km from center, a beautiful walk with many things along the way.

All in all a decent experience👍. 🙏

Great location-- more a taste of neighborhood Amsterdam then the touristy areas. All in all a nice little hotel. Only issue was air conditioner leaked some condensation when we first came in (damp patch). Will attribute that to the very abnormal hot spell that preceded our arrival. Staff was very nice. Would stay again.

generally very happy with the hotel and service. only 20 minutes walk to Van Gogh museum and very near to underground station. offer free coffee and tea which is great. staff very nice and friendly. room is comfortable and other guests of the hotel are quiet. only thing not good enough is the bathroom. at first the basin leak water but soon get repaired. the shower has no door so water splash everywhere and make the bathroom very wet.

Bag was tampered with in Bag room and relabeled with another names, Tv in room did not work, Powerpoints on Desk did not work, staff could not fix tv and kept going and coming for an hour and refused to change the room so I could not rest, Roof in room was low enough to touch, curtains in room diid not close and people in street could see in to room and bed, no privacy curtain only blackout curtains (which didn't black out. )
Staff refused to compensate or provide any alternative option.for poor facilities.... \"Manager is not here and I cant make any allowance......\" Would not recommend based on my experience....

Great price ..room small but clean for purpose of having a base and somewhere to sleep it was perfect. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location very central tram stop just outsside and a short ride to tge centre of Amsterdam. Lots of good places to eat and drink on the doorstep.

good, but it could be better

hotel is ok, very good location.
the sink was leaking and they never repaired it in 3 days.
Also, the electricity of the bedside table was not working properly and when i moved it to reset the connection, it was very dirty behind.
In general the hotel is ok, no noise, bed is comfortable, and there are many restaurants nearby.

My flight was cancelled as were the subsequent flights for the following 24 hours, I had no possible way of getting there. The hotel charged me the full amount and refused a refund. A shame they chose making a fast buck over repeat business!

I arrived after 10 pm and was put into a sub standard basement room 012. It's nothing like the pictures of the other rooms on the site. No sound proofing. You hear the cars, trams, people walking past and talking. A truck unloading in the early hours to the hotel. Water from flushing toilets flowing through a pipe in the room. The hotel office was next to the room so when a lady went into the office at 5 am I heard her walking on the wooden floor and opening and shutting the door. Basically a terrible room, so if you get room 012 or maybe the other 2 rooms in the basement, 010 and 011, I would refuse to have them unless you are a sound sleeper. When I complained they staff ignored me and just looked at me. The nice lady in the breakfast room offered me a free breakfast. I'm sure the other rooms are lovely but be warned about the ones mentioned.

Terrible basement experience

My cousin and I arrived to the hotel and were told that the only room available was in the basement. We were reassured that it would be just like all other rooms except smaller windows. To our surprise the basement room was extremely filthy. There were water damage stains on the walls, no carpet on the floors and dead flies in the bathroom. The lights flickered and the one window was 1/4 the size of a regular window. The pictures looked nothing like the online advertised pictures. We went to ask the concierge for either a new room or a refund. She said they would not be able to provide a refund and the only room available was a single room. We chose to squeeze in a twin sized bed in order to not stay in the basement. The concierge was very rude and asked if we would stay in the basement if she cleaned up the dead flies. As two black women in Europe it felt like a very targeted experience. She would do anything to be sure that we would stay in the basement. I would not recommend that anyone stay here as multiple members of the staff seemed to have an attitude towards us and our request.

Double charged by hotels.com and Hotel Savoy

Checked into the hotel and it was in pretty decent condition, we had a comfortable 3 person room. However they never made up our room the next day when we left the room at 1:00 PM and returned in the evening. When we checked out he told us that i had to pay there for the hotel and that it didnt matter if i already made payment through Hotels.com. They said i would be reimbursed, and now I am sitting with 2 separate charges on my credit card. Will try and get sorted with hotels.com, hotel savoy seemed liked a bunch of crooks to me.

Hotel couldn't be safer as neighbours with police. It's yards away from 12 tram which is very handy. Didn't use breakfast. Area is not too noisy. Not sure about the 4 stars. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room had DVD player, mini fridge but no coffee facility. Would stay again.

Good for a short stay

It was a good place to stay and sleep, I would not recommend it for a longer stay. The pillows and blankets were stinky, and the room was not properly cleaned. Did not try food. The staff was nice and helpful, the location is amazing, for a short stay (at a discounted price) it's a good deal.

I spent the night of the 18th of October in room 111. Found a fake woman's nail underneath the bed and then woke up covered in flea bites. It is not acceptable.
I would really appreciate to receive apologies from the hotel and a full refund as soon as possible because the hotel provided a room that doesn't comply with basic health and safety regulations. I am absolutely disgusted.

Noisy, smelly basement room

I've been traveling extensively for 27 years, and this must be one of the 3 worst experiences I've had in that time. The room smelled of mold and mildew (see photo). The next-door neighbors smoked pot and talked loudly till 3 am. Nothing would stop them, not even the night manager coming down. They were SO high. The equipment failed to work (phone, lamps, wi-fi). After 2 nights, they changed me to a room on the 2nd floor that was better. Avoid the basement rooms!

Perfect Location!

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star, however the air conditioner did not work and when I reported the issue I was told that it probably wouldn't be fixed prior to my departure. The location was so convenient which allowed me to walk to almost everywhere. Beautiful city and hotel!

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. It was a little bit pricey, but I thought it would be worth it. Well, I was wrong. I got several bed bug bites, and my experience there was just awful. Stay away from room 112!! I've also noticed some old blood stain in my bed sheet. Also, when you pay for the city tax, ask for a receipt. I almost had to pay for it again because they forgot to put in the system that I had already paid, so I was lucky that I asked for one and was able to prove that I had paid.

The reviews on the Savoy were pretty mixed with some terrible ratings. My room was clean, nice shower, comfortable bed. Was very pleased with accommodations and would happily stay here again. It's a bit of a walk to the city center but team is close and you gain a quiet environment and some nice restaurants in the area.

The room and the bathroom where really very clean and nice, only on my bed, there was a bloodstain on the mattress and only a very thin bed linen to cover it up (but you could see it shining through). That's why I can't give 5 Points for room cleanliness. But apart from that everything was great.

Hotel on a walking distance to RAI

We check in in the late afternoon after RAI exhibition was closed. When arrive, a person on a reception give us two rooms and charge city tax. But... we got one room on the first floor which was OK but another room was in the basement. We been told that that was last two room they have. This second room was rather smelly and we could not open the small window because it was bellow street level and all the dirt from a windy street will end in our room through metal bars.
Both toilets was without any amenities except liquid soap.
Luckily we had to sleep there only for one night. Breakfast was fine which was a surprise since we thought that it is not included in the room price.

Nice clean friendly hotel in good location. Brilliant short break with family seeing all the sights of Amsterdam & sampling the merchandise. Well worth a visit. Would highly recommend. Had the best time loved every minute only downfall was massive queue at Anne Frank's museum.

A comfortable and very well-run hotel

It was a most enjoyable stay in this comfortable and admirably clean hotel. The staff at reception were friendly and exceptionally helpful. At such good value for money, one has to accept that rooms are not particularly spacious, but that is to be expected. I would recommend it to anyone.

Room was clean and staff are friendly. However, the street outside was quite noisy and there is no way to turn the extractor fan off in the bathroom. What the heck is up with that? Needless to say it wasn't the best night sleep. Had I not smoked a lot of grass then it would have been a lot worse. Stayed in better places than this, so would go somewhere else next time.

Great city escape

The hotel is located south of the city. We stayed for 3 nights and found the location to be perfect with a great supermarket over the road and a simple walk/cycle north to the attractions.

The hotel room was clean and very comfortable and the thick curtains let no light in the room so overall a perfect nights sleep every night.

If you have the option I would not bother with the breakfast option, save your money and go for the bakery about 5 mins north of hotel. The cooked food was luke warm each day but they did have other items which are the same anywhere you go.

48 hours in Amsterdam

I was in the city for a short two days vacation. The hotel was very nice and the staff was awesome. The hotel is just far enough outside the city center to make it quite at night. I would definitely stay here again in the future. Also if you're a fan of beer like I am, the Troost Brewery is one hundred yards from the hotel entrance with really great beer and food.

Not what you expect for a \"4 Star Hotel\"

We tried the Expedia \"mystery hotel\" selection where you let Expecia pick a \"4 star \" quality hotel for you within a given location. The Savoy is not a bad hotel, but it certainly is not a 3.5 or 4 star hotel. I could have found a better quality hotel at the same price on my own. We tried this \"mystery deal\" and will never do it again. We paid too much for the quality of room we received. The hotel is decent and located about a 15 minute walk from Singel Canal. There is a lot to see and eat in this area. We enjoyed Le Pain Quotidien, a great breakfast, lunch place a block from the Savoy. The Savoy beds sheets were clean, the towels were adequate thickness, the carpets had stains in the room, but were vacuumed and clean. Would I go back to the Savoy? No. There are better deals.

We booked this hotel as a mystery hotel, 4 star and in the canal area. The hotel is not a four star, rooms so small you did not have room to even put bags on floor. Beds were comfortable but you had no room to walk around beds. TV did not work, mould in shower area. Location was ok, some really nice cafe's. Tram stop near by. Staff at hotel very very helpful.

Small but adequate double room. Minor problem with cleaner throwing away some flight earplugs for no good reason. Previous occupants coke can and mouldy spoon just at edge of bed & no shower gel etc in dispenser. Beds quite comfortable.

Location was a little out of town but some really good bars & food options in the area; with the benefit of not being aimed at central station area tourist crowd.

The hotel was great and the staff were very helpful. we arrived to find that, even though we had a booking confirmation, no booking had been made for us. The hotel was fully booked and they had to find us somewhere else to stay for the first night. The hotel they sent us to Ozo was not as good as the savoy and well out of the city. The weekend was spoilt by all the messing about we had on the first day

Good service on a poorly maintained building

Front desk service was really good, but hotel maintenance was not. There were many broken items in my room - light switches, reading light, bathroom fixtures, coat hangers. Housekeeping also didn't restock things that ran empty, such as soap and facial tissue.
Hotel is located in a quiet area, walking distance to many restaurants and supermarket.

Overall, it's ok if you need a place for a good night sleep and nothing fancy.

Room was stated on booking as a double room single occupancy. It turned out to be a tiny single room 3m x 3m with a single bed and a 2m x 2m shower room. None of the bedside lamps had bulbs in them. There was no in room tea or coffee but a small selection of expensive soft drinks and a couple of bottles of beer. Hotel facilities were poor with a small lounge area - the size of my room! - and cheap cafe area for the 15 euro breakfasts. My room wasn't serviced until 1715. It was a bleak place more like a hostel than a 4* hotel.

Wifi does not work .. Peeling paint and mold in the bathroom .. Night staff were not very helpful but their is a nice Asian girl in the mornings who deserved five stars.. The beds are two twins push together that constantly come apart with the slightest movement .. Bathrooms were configured oddly.. Since we book last minute it was what we had to deal with..

Big rooms

The hotel is not exactly near to the center, but comfort and services are good. Remember to take a bike rental to reach the center, otherwise you should take public transportation which is quite expensive

Can`t Complain...

- Clean, not too expensive
- A bit far from downtown, but ‘walkable’ if you like walking a lot
- Parking on the street is expensive if more than a couple days

Cold Showers

The receptionist was amongst the slowest I have ever had - hopeless - moving in a dream. Noisy in that the glazing did not stop the street noise. Shower did not drain properly and swung between luke warm and cold, no matter what you did it NEVER got hot.
