This is a great little hotel in a relatively quiet part of Paris. The staff is great, the rooms are comfy and it is convenient to the Villiers metro, which will get you everywhere.

It mainly caters to business travelers but doesn't feel like a stuffy, business hotel. The rooms are on the small side by American standards but there is plenty of space for your things, a huge closet, two sinks in the bathroom, and side tables by the bed.

Character hotel with helpful staff

Nice helpful staff. Hotel is quite typical of most Parisian hotels I’ve stayed in in that there are plumbing issues and tight spaces associated with older properties. Whilst a little frayed around the edges the hotel has a lot of character and is close to the metro and is even walking distance to several sights. Breakfast was simple but sufficient, again comparing somewhat more favourably with the many other hotels I’ve stayed in in Paris over the years.

My wife and I spent a week here for our Anniversary. The whole staff was great and very helpful. This hotel is cery close to everything you need and less then 5 minute walk to train and bus stations. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks staff!!

A pleasant small hotel that has retained some original features. The room I had was good size compared to many other Paris hotels of this level -- it was 183 sq ft. I have learned to look for the sq footage before booking, as photos are deceptive.
One little glitch was the building fire alarm went off at 5 AM one morning, everyone was out in the street for 30 minutes. Apparently due to kitchen cooking mistakes. There was no apology. They could have at least posted a Notice later or even made a little wine offering, etc. After all, it was a considerable inconvenience that was their fault.

The hotel is very rustic and old. The doors still use a key. I got stuck in the bathroom bc the door locks are ancient and stiff. Reminded me of Transylvania. The fire alarm went off at 5am. The tv was very small. Nothing modern in the hotel. Needs an upgrade. Everything is old and rickety. The hotel staff could be a little more friendlier.

Hotel Relais Monceau is located conveniently close to the metro, restaurants, supermarkets and bakeries. The hotel itself was very nicely appointed. My wife and I chose a room with a terrace and enjoyed eating outside in the mornings and evenings. Our only wish is that the doors were not so heavily sprung. Some guests that moved in shortly after we did had a habit of releasing the door from its maximum extent and the resulting slam was annoying. This kept happening every ten to fifteen minutes. Luckily those guests did not stay for a long time.

3 night stay in the terrace room with grown up kids in a twin room.
Great location 15 minutes from Opera/gare saint lazare, but only 2 minutes from Villiers métro station and plenty of local cafes, bars etc.
Rooms were nice and comfortable (the terrace would be nice on a warm day) and the staff were helpful and friendly

One woman at the front desk was rude when I questioned her math when giving me change, I was correct by the way.

The rest of the front desk staff was great. The lobby is nice but the rooms are really round down. The location was great.

Not sure I would stay again, not my idea of a 4Star hotel. That being said the room was larger than the previous hotel we stayed at.

Probably the best thing is that its just a few minutes walk to the Metro which then gives you access to all of Paris.

Located in a very beautiful and quiet neighbourhood, a mere 2-minute walk to the Metro line (closest to the Villiers stop). Very easy to use the Metro to get to all of the site-seeing spots we wanted to get to - we did everything we wanted to do, and it didn't take very long to get anywhere! Lots of local restaurants and bistros, some of which are located right across the street. The room was nice - a bit small for two people, but beautifully decorated, with a large window overlooking the street. The bathroom was lovely, with two large sinks and a shower. The room also had central air, which you could control in the room, so that was a big comfort after running around all day in the sun.

Disappointing for a 4 star hotel

We picked this hotel because we were leaving to go on a tour which stayed here. We arrived 2 days early and thought it would be easier not to have to change hotels (including the tour we actually stayed at this hotel for 5 days). In certain regards, the hotel is charming, but the rooms and bathrooms are so dark and dingy that you can hardly see (not to mention the hand-held shower heads). Our room was cleaned every day but others complained that only their towels were changed. The location is very inconvenient - you need to change metros 2 times to go just about anyplace. The desk help, is at best, indifferent. The person at the desk did not seem to know how much a daily metro pass was or if there was an Englsih news channel (such as CNN). The hotel has a nice garden and is in a nice residential neighborhood near a beautiful park but the bakery and many restaurants were closed on Sunday. I find it difficult to understand how this is a 4 star hotel.

Overall my stay was good. I would return. French style hotel, a bit older decor and set up, but that’s not a negative, Room was typical, you may or may not like the separated shower and toilet, depending on your privacy preferences, or wether you want to wash your hands in the immediate vicinity of the toilet. Breakfast was great, with varied quality items. We got there very early due to traveling, and though check-in was not until 4pm, they let us get our room. Nice! My largest quibble is with the inconvenient, unfriendly and cumbersome check-out process. I prepaid for the hotel, and they took my card upon arrival, fine and typical, especially since they have a mini bar. That should have been it for needing my card. On checking out, the man, not the one who checked me in, said there’s an added charge, and not just city-tax, he could tell me what. I told him I already pre-paid, but he claimed I owed for breakfast or for an additional person, something. I’m now 15 minutes from my car pickup to airport, and need to have breakfast. I ate and returned, he said there was a mistake on their end, no apology for essentially accusing me in front of other guests of trying to short on my bill. I asked for a receipt, he gave to me. They already took my card, I’m thinking the collected the tax so I turned to leave, the man said in a very unfriendly tone, “I already told you to pay!” The other guest at the counter stopped signing his document to look up at us.....Soooo. embarrassing.

When we checked in I felt like it was a cute older boutique type of hotel, but when we got to the room I felt like we were cramped and it was stiflingly warm. The AC unit, if it really was AC was not blowing any cool air, it felt like it made the room warmer. We opened the windows, which there was no breeze on this warm May day, and it became very loud. There is a cafe/bar across the street and we heard the street noise and that. I asked for another room, but the person at the desk told me that they all had the same issue and they had called the repair person, but they also mentioned they had tried to turn on the AC earlier and the system was not ready to operate in that mode. The room was adequate, 2 twin beds, the shower/bathroom small, and the lack of fan, or AC made it nearly impossible for me to sleep, as exhausted as I was -this was our last night in Europe after 16 days of traveling. The weather outside was 75-80 degrees, it shouldn't have been that uncomfortable. The breakfast room was gorgeous but the food was just ok, nothing too great.

The staff does a great job and is very helpful in making reservations for transport, answering questions about the area and they go out of their way to make you comfortable. Even the cleaning person was most gracious in not disturbing you. The breakfast room is excellent with numerous selections, meats, cheeses, eggs (scrambled or boiled), a large selection of breads and rolls, a easy to use coffee maker and orange juicer. The breakfast attendant keeps everything full, clean and the room has a glass atrium to sit and eat in.

Hotel is well positioned - a 2 minute walk from the Metro and close to Moulin Rouge and main tourist attractions. The patisserie opposite is a must - the pastries are fantastic. The hotel was clean throughout, quiet and quaint, Staff were helpful and spoke English but the main disappointment was booking a non smoking room and getting a room that smelt of smoke and was clearly a smoking room (had an ashtray in the room) and not being able to change - as non smokers it smelt every time we entered and the smell lingered leaving clothes smoky and unfresh. Tea and coffee facilities available but no milk in room - overall would consider staying again apart from the smoking issue

Lovely hotel round the corner from the Metro

Great hotel, with great atmosphere

Great hotel, right by the Metro station where you can quickly and easily get anywhere you want to go. Although, the Champs Elysees is only a 15 min walk away.

Lots of great places to eat and drink nearby too and has a fabulous little bakery right opposite.

Hotel staff were very welcoming and lovely.

We had a lovely, very cosy room overlooking the main street, and was great to relax in after a full day out and about. The only thing that let the room down was that our window did not open. This wasn't a massive issue, but it would have been nice to get some fresh air into the room, especially as it got quite warm at nighttime.

Overall, the stay was excellent and we will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Nice looking hotel in a great neighborhood (awesome bakery facing it, & 1 minute from an awesome corner Sunday-brunch cafe). Rooms are small by modern standards. 2 sinks in the tiny bathroom totally pointless (not enough room between them for 2 people to be there simultaneously). No irons in the room (have to request it from the front desk). There's a safe in the room but it's small & not attached to anything: what's the point of a portable safe...!!!...???

Nice boutique hotel in excellent location

I stayed in the hotel for almost a year while on work assignment in Paris few years ago and loved the location, family atmosphere and cozy, albeit small, room overlooking a quiet street. Unfortunately, this time the room faced the back of the hotel - despite a small private terrace with an outdoor table and few chairs, the room was very dark without access to direct sunlight and all we could see from the room was a wall, not even a glimpse of sky. Staff at the reception politely said that all street facing rooms are booked. The disappointment is quite strong as the room is called \"superior\" and nowhere in the booking process it is stated whether the room is front or back facing. This is a critical information, which should be added to room description.

Comfortable stay

Great location in a family-friendly, non-touristy neighborhood close to the Metro. Our room was clean and comfortable with recently modernized decor. The staff was helpful and the room was very quiet, even when cars or motorbikes drove by.

2 minutes to metro stop and local restaurants

We stayed for 3 nights and were quite satisfied. It's not a five star but you won't get a better price or a more helpful staff for the price.

Great Hotel

Friendly and helpful reception. Clean and nicely decorated room . Nice area in reception with squashy sofas to lounge in. Hotel is in a quiet and elegant neighbourhood about 2 minutes walk to the Metro. I would definitely stay here again!

Not what I'd call a boutique hotel

I am a very big fan of small boutique hotels, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. Aside from the good location, close to the tube station and redone washroom, there is nothing really worth mentioning. The beddings were not really up to hotel standards, cleanliness was not the strongest point. The staff was rather reactive rather than helpful. Would have rather gone to an international hotel chain.

Excellent Hotel Friendly and Helpful Staff

This hotel was exactly as expected small and friendly in the Parisian style. The Metro was a few minutes walk away and there were a number of restaurants in the nearby vicinity. Staff were very attentive and friendly and provided us with useful information concerning routes to various places we wished to visit. I would certainly recommend this hotel and it is our intention to return in the very near future.
