Overall the staff were really helpful and couldn't do enough for you (apart from one area who i'll cover seperately). They were polite and cheery and a real credit to the hotel. However, standards in this hotel don't shout 4 star to me and the room was definitely not worth the cost

Our room with a view was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay, including thoughtful extras such as an iron and ironing board. The bed was comfortable, and the room provided a relaxing retreat after busy days exploring the city.
We ate in the hotel bar on a couple of occasions and were impressed by both the service and the food. Service was prompt and friendly, and the portions were generous without compromising on quality.
Parking is conveniently located directly at the hotel, making arrival and departure very easy, particularly if you have luggage. It's worth noting that parking costs £20 per day (a useful benefit is that guests may leave their car in the car park until 3 pm on the day of departure, despite checkout being at 11 am). There are less expensive parking options in the city centre, but these may be less convenient if you do not want to carry luggage through town.
The hotel's location is one of its greatest strengths. Situated right by the waterfront, it is ideally placed for Liverpool's harbour, museums and other historical and cultural attractions. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

Lovely hotel and fantastic views, my room was too warm because the weather on the day I stayed was amazing! Unfortunately the thermostat in my room didn’t work, I reported it in the morning during check-out and the receptionist was lovely, didn’t charge me for parking and was very apologetic. On this occasion I was a little bit surprised by how the receptionist enjoyed telling me and my 4 year old son what we couldn’t do because we were early for check in (unprompted: check jn, use the pool, not to expect a call when our room was ready). We were early. and all i wanted to do was hand our bags over. We did that but I had to ask if we could do that rather than being asked if we would like to do that. Stayed for two nights and had a great time. It was a family trip so having the pool was great considering the wet and windy weather on one of the days. Very close walk to the city centre as well as all the famous football grounds. Staff were absolutely superb. Would definitely stay there again.

Apart from one thing, everything was top class. The food, the service, the room etc. Unfortunately, on the last night of our stay there, they had \"a event\" on in the ballroom. I was due to drive my car home to Scunthorpe, the next morning, which would take me 3 hours. I was unable to sleep because of the very loud noise from this event which went on until midnight. I was very worried that my tiredness would detrimentally impair my driving conentration. At 10 pm I complained about the noise. It did quiten down a little bit but I still could not sleep until midnight when it ended.

The room is clean enough and the staff are friendly. However the hotel is tired. The room is tiny and is billed as a standard Queen room - the bed is NOT a queen size and for the cost it is definitely not good value on any level. Also £19 per night (discounted!) car parking is a shocker when I have paid nearly £600 for 2 nights. We are both disabled and to be fair didn’t tell them, don’t actually have to but have to say that being on the fourth floor at the far end of the corridor is ok unless you get to the room on the second day only to discover that the room key hadn’t been reactivated. Then had to go all the way back to reception to collect the new key.
Breakfast was poor, overcooked and soggy. Hash browns full of fat, fried eggs hard, black pudding like rocks.

Room needs a second comfortable chair and a larger table for two people of eat in room or play a game. Bath slippery getting out after a shower with the hand rail close to shower so does not assist dropping leg to floor, bath curved sides at bottom. Sunday breakfast was noisy large family group calling to each other - not hotel’s fault. Staff were friendly and the doorman was excellent. Had to make a passage to lifts through conference attendees - prior to that quite a few had been standing outside smoking /vapping blocking the pavement. BLT sandwich had very fatty bacon, with so much soft fat and very little meat was a very unpleasant sandwich yet still charging a high price. Buffet breakfast had a nice mixture of food. Room was quiet as had a river view room.
