The hotel was OK and in an excellent location for the city. However at the price we paid I think it's fair to expect a bit more comfort. The rooms were quite minimal and basic. Breakfast was OK but not exceptional. They offered the standard things you'd expect at a hotel buffet breakfast but nothing more. Front desk staff were really friendly and helpful and the building is spectacular.

Nothing worked except the team who did their best . The room had no heating and no phone . The public area ( all day dining, bar and reception ) had no WiFi so even getting and tracking an uber was a mission . I was given a different room that was in desperate need of maintenance. Very sad as the building is lovely and the location great . I was told all the phones were removed from the rooms as part of ongoing renovation . Pretty sure this violates health and safety. Would like a refund

The staff were very helpful, the room was a good size but with some cosmetic TLC required. Breakfast was lovely, something to suit everyone but definitely more choice and better presentation on our second morning 31/12. Discounted car parking could be better explained before arrival.

The rooms are not really very sound proof. Other guests were very loud, shouting and screaming and it woke me up on a few occasions - I appreciate this isn’t the hotels fault, although the rooms let in a lot more noise than I would have expected. The breakfast wasn’t great, hash browns tastes like they’d been cooked the previous night and just left in a heated pan. It didn’t taste fresh sadly. The hotel itself is lovely, very picturesque but I likely wouldn’t rebook sadly.

Could have got multiple hotels of 4* rating at similar or slightly lower price easily for our Friday night but stuck with this hotel for the pool table as we love pool and amazing breakfast plus a beautiful room we experienced last time. However this is what we experienced this time.
Got there 40-45 minutes early and normally you’d get your room but told could only have room if we paid a charge so decided to have a drink instead at the bar for the same price of getting room early. Went to play pool but the cues were completely broken. Asked if any other cues but none. Then at 3pm went to check in to find the kitchen wasn’t working so only a light continental breakfast was included although I’d paid extra for breakfast a month ago. When I asked more I was told it hadn’t been serving breakfast for at least 2 months. I asked why I hadn’t been informed n she shrugged. I never had any confirmation so was upset. I was told I’d get the money back for the breakfast if I complained. Then got to our room. It was awful. Peeling paint, wobbly floor tiles, horrendous view. Honestly I wish I’d just gone to premier inn round the corner. I waited to do this review as I complained at reception- which I’ve never done before n was told the manager would look at my complaint and would be in touch but nothing back.

It was REALLY cool. Cool is the key word. It's a Grade II historic building converted from the Royal Insurance building. It's comfortable with great bathrooms and a nice lounge, the staff is lovely. The rooms are large with enormous windows and really high ceilings, but if you're expecting a standard new hotel room layout this isn't for you. It was 100% for me.

They put in the basement. The room was designed for elderly guests. Because of that there is no Barrie’s for the water when you take a shower then the water is all over. It is not glamorous

We stayed two nights. During both the fire alarm rang (at 1.30 a.m first night, at 2.30 a.m. the second night).
On both occasions, with many others we walked down three flights of stairs to be told FALSE ALARM. Excuses in the morning varied. But apparently anybody vaping in any room requires alerting the entire hotel.

On both occasions, with many others we walked down three flights of stairs to be told FALSE ALARM. Excuses in the morning varied. But apparently anybody vaping in any room requires alerting the entire hotel.

I love Liverpool in general and this hotel is a brilliant location, it’s remarkably nice and quiet too considering, it’s comfortable but is showing signs of a bit of age with a little maintenance needed on flaking paint and odd lights out here and there. As we arrived, a pair of people who looked homeless walked out of the hotel. One of them had been in the recommended car park facility and was clearly on drugs. On checking in, the staff was fairly efficient but offered no information about the place. We checked in and dropped our things in the room then went out to meet someone. We returned late to find that in our king size room for 2, there was one towel and that the shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser dispensers were empty. Continuing the theme, there was one tea bag. Very generous. This hotel is run down and dirty. It doesn’t deliver what’s says it does. Avoid.

Within the city centre a short distance from everything you needed. Room was good size and comfortable. The bathroom lacked a plug in the sink and somewhere to hang wet towels. The housekeeping was very good the room made up and items replenished.

We were incredibly disappointed by our stay at aloft. Firstly it is an incredibly dirty hotel, there is constantly rubbish in the halls left by guests which wasn't collected once during our 2 night stay! This included dirty plates, rubbish, beer glasses and bottles and more! It is an incredibly noisy hotel with terrible flooring that creaks non stop, doors slamming at all hours, terrible acoustics so you can hear other guests and street noise. Further other guests kept dumping bottles and glasses in front of random doors so whenever you leave your room you have drinks left there which weren't collected for 24hours. The room cleaning was only half done with towels left on the floor and new ones added, dirty pillow cases with old makeup stains and the bins not emptied. The bed and pillows were horrific! You could feel the springs and the mattress was lumpy. I would love to say the staff we great but honestly we were really disappointed. At check in we were told if we book breakfast we will pay the discount rate which we did and then at check out they charged us the daily rate and said they couldn't change it as they didn't enter it. This just made the experience that much worse. I can't recommend this hotel and would absolutely avoid it if you want a comfortable stay in Liverpool.

The room was good with a comfy bed and pillows and a large shower. We would have given the hotel a good review but for the fact when we went to bed and pulled the cover back there was a huge blood stain on the sheet directly by my pillow. We turned the sheet over and down to the end and didn’t bother asking for a change, (which we were told would have been done)as it was so late at night. We couldn’t believe anyone would have made that bed and thought it was ok to leave the sheet on like that. It had obviously been washed but left stained and needed throwing.
It really spoilt our stay. Other than that the hotel has a good location, breakfast was ok as well, not the best but decent. I wouldn’t stay again as the bedding issue put us off.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful old building which has been converted into the hotel but kept all the amazing features of the old architecture. Our room was lovely and clean. Bed and pillows very comfy. Breakfast buffet was good with choices of hot English breakfast or cold continental and a choice of pastries too. Short walk to either the river or into the lively area of Matthew St where there are lots of bars with live music.

It was a nice property, the staff felt a bit indifferent at check in. Parking was a bit of an effort, the room was nice but no telephone in the room. We needed an extra towel and more tissue and had to go down to the lobby to request it. They were prompt at getting these items, but it was inconvenient.

Aloft was a great choice for my first time in Liverpool. The relaxed nature of the place made it feel like a university dorm (for better or worse!) and the staff were super friendly and fun to be around. The amenities were awesome and the location is excellent!

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are very spacious with lots of extras that you wouldn't expect. The only downside was the horrible smell when you enter the hotel, I expect this is due to the age of the property but it is a real shame as it is very off putting. Breakfast was only average and if I was returning, I would definitely stay in this hotel but I would buy breakfast elsewhere.
