When we got there the receptionist programmed the wrong room into our key so we accidentally went into an occupied room. We then had to change rooms as the first room we were booked into was cold and damp. The 2nd room was better but did have a lot of mould the walls around the windows. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay and the breakfast was good

we were upgraded to a bigger room in the basement with hot tub . it was enormous but the problem is we cannot sleep because of the exit light sign in the bedroom and the fridge they were constantly on. i brought the matter to the reception to ask if they can switch off the light but nothing has been resolved. for a room that can accommodate more than 10 people there should be at least two bathroom and toilet. but theres only one so we are five in the room and need to wait for someone to finish before you can use it. thats the only problem i had in the hotel .

Only issue was breakfast. With over an hour of service to go, they ran out of hot food on the buffet and didn’t bring more out.

My advice would be to make sure the food is kept hot.

Staff in restaurant need training on cleaning tables as didn’t spray with sanitiser, just wiped with a cloth and re laid for next guests.
Having worked in environmental health that’s not good to see.

All in all a restful stay but wouldn’t return.

What a beautiful hotel, stayed here with 5 girls for a Christmas night out, the lady in reception was very friendly and the room we had was absolutely amazing 3 super king sized beds,,which was very clean and very spacious, also a large bathroom with a large jacuzzi

Our recent stay at the hotel was generally pleasant, primarily due to a fantastic location and the highly accommodating nature of the front-desk staff. The check-in was smooth, and the room itself was clean, spacious, and featured a very comfortable bed, ensuring a good night's sleep. The public areas, such as the lobby, were also well-maintained and welcoming.
However, there were several small details that prevented this from being a truly excellent experience, especially considering the price point. The most noticeable omission was the lack of complementary amenities that guests often rely on. Specifically, there was no bottled water provided in the room, which is a standard convenience in hotels of this caliber. We also found the absence of simple slippers to be inconvenient, making the cold bathroom floor less comfortable.
These small touches are what elevate a good stay to a great one. While these are minor items, they significantly contribute to the overall guest experience and perception of value. Addressing these basic in-room amenities would go a long way in improving the perceived quality and comfort of the accommodations.
We would consider staying again if these minor, yet important, service enhancements are implemented.

Check-in was poor. I’d pre-checked-in but that didn’t stop the process taking 15 mins and that was without there being anybody in front of us. The receptionist couldn’t get the payment for the city tax to go through (and ended up taking it twice in the end!). They also said our room wasn’t ready, then said it was, then wasn’t again… before finally deciding that it was! Throughout, the lady, who was otherwise very nice, insisted on calling me ‘young man’.

The lobby itself was far too dark. I’m all for mood lighting but it was like the whole area was lit with a couple of candles and made what was quite a plush area look quite tacky as only the faded ‘blingy’ bits of decor could be seen in the gloom.

The lift was really annoying! We were only on the 1st floor yet it seemed to take an age to get there and then the doors took even longer to open. Housekeeping also stored bed sheets, towels etc on the landing in front of the lifts on the first floor so first impressions of that floor were poor. The lift doors opened and it just looked an absolute mess. The statue of Dixie Dean that overlooked it all didn’t look particularly impressed either!

Our room was VERY spacious with a double bed at either end of the room and some nice fittings. The TV was also the best I’ve ever seen in a hotel room, although it was so high up on the wall that we both ended up with a sore neck from trying to watch it. The bathroom was HORRIBLE! A large space but grubby and lacking anything nice.

We chose this hotel based on its description as a luxury suite experience and the beautiful images shown online. Unfortunately, the reality of our stay fell far short of expectations.

Upon arrival, we were moved to Room 301 after finding our first assigned room in poor condition. At first glance, Room 301 appeared slightly better, but it soon became clear that it was also in an unacceptable state:

The bathroom floor was worn through to the floorboards, and the walls were peeling.

The mirror was rusty, and overall the bathroom appeared neglected.

When my son used the jacuzzi bath, dirty water and residue came out of the jets, leaving him feeling unwell. This clearly indicates that the bath had not been cleaned or maintained properly and posed a potential health risk.

The sofa was ripped, the floor was stained and dirty, and the lighting in the room was poor.

When we opened the curtains to let in some light, we discovered that the windows were covered in mould and grime, with an unpleasant view of what looked like a demolition site.

In addition, we found that none of the bar pumps were working, and the bottled beers were warm, making it impossible to enjoy a simple drink during our stay.

The following morning, we were given a sheet detailing breakfast options, which stated that fried or poached eggs could be provided on request. However, we were later informed these were not available, contradicting the hotel’s own information.

The room was old, stains on carpets and absolutely freezing cold. We had nowhere to hang our clothes at the wardrobe was 3 shelves with tea/coffee facilities inside, an iron, kettle and spare towels. One coat hanger on the top.

Breakfast was cold but was better the next day.

The hotel is in a great location, 5 minute walk from Lime Street train station in a lovely old building. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Our room was massive with all facilities needed however it was well worn and needed money spent on it. In particular I found the bathroom below par.

There were a few issues with no towels in room and the breakfast bar lacking bacon and sausages however once the staff were aware they actioned it straight away.

At the end of the day, the hotel offered good value for money.

Everything was tired and over used including Iron burns in the carpet! No breakfast until 8am, this was a problem bcs I had my young daughter with me, this time was not made clear at booking.

Dixie dean was such a lovely hotel! We were arriving straight from the airport following our holiday as we had a wedding to attend in Liverpool the next day. Due to a delayed flight we didn’t arrive at the hotel until 4.30am, with two small children, but we had let the staff know in advance and they were great. Check in took seconds and we could get up to bed asap. The beds are SO comfy! And we had booked a family room for 4 which was supposed to be 2 double beds but had been given a room for 6, which was a massive treat! Our small children were delighted to have a double bed each! The room was so spacious. Funky decor, I would say the only issue with this was trying to do my makeup for the wedding it was quite dark in there, but it was a super fun room. Whirlpool bath was amazing, kids loved it and so did we. The staff are all so lovely and friendly and the breakfast buffet was nice, everything fresh and being replenished often. Overall we couldn’t fault anything about the hotel and would definitely stay again! Thank you!

I have many more photos, I also had a 5 day strong antibiotic course after I drunk from a glass what I realised was fully dirty. I had a terrible cold sore. Carpet covered with marks, sheet was dirty also. One ved missing beddings and no air conditioner what is a shame as no any window what you can open. When I highlighted these they were totally ignoring. Never again!

Me and my boyfriend stayed for a weekend booked a double deluxe room but ended up in a luxury room that sleeps 6 people. The room was nice there was some wall paper missing within the bathroom and you could see where they had patched up other parts of the wallpaper. The bathroom had a bath jacuzzi which was nice however didn’t really get a chance to use it as every time we put the jets on black like dirt was coming out of them. We had breakfast included which was nice, there is full English choice, cereals, fruit and pastries as well. It was an overall good stay just a let down with the jacuzzi .

Wonderful room that looked just like the pictures in their description. Super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. A long walk to the waterfront but enjoyable on a good day. Very close to historical buildings and an excellent \"Ask Italian\" restaurant across the street that caters to Celiac/Gluten Free. Would stay here again.

A great place to stay, a short distance from the train station and very close to Matthew Street. We had a big room, with three kingsize beds for the three of us and a lovely big jacuzzi bath with shower over, the air con was very welcome as we had hot weather while we stayed. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. Although we were close to Matthew Street the hotel was really quiet and we all had a good nights sleep.My only criticism is that the rooms were very dark. We would definitely stay again.

Where to begin...I paid £170/night for this hotel. For this price, I expected something better. The water in my room was lukewarm for the first day as they did not have anyone on site to check it out. It was corrected next day and the water was warm, but not hot, which is what I would expect from £170/night. The jacuzzi in the room, when turned on, ejected dirt from the jets for £170/night. Then the wifi did not work in my room and I had to sit in the corridor outside my room to reach wi-fi, for £170/night. The breakfast had stale pastries, reused from previous day, for £170/night. The breakfast was average, I would expect much bigger choice for £170/night. The rooms were HUGE, almost pointlessly huge...There is no need for so much space. Anyway, I would stay away from this hotel for the above reasons...

Great customer service from staff. Property was just a let down. Paid for a double room but ended up with a room with 5 beds in which is not what we booked. There are no opening windows so there was no air in the property and the aircon as well as the telly was not functioning. Resulting in an awful sleep that we left around 8am in the morning. At the back it was full of druggies smoking crack not a nice picture to see.

Great service - unusual room - yummy breakfast!

As a family of 4 with older children (19 & 17), we were ‘upgraded’ to a room in The Caves (8 beds!). However, apart from the 5 DOUBLE SPA BATHS, I wouldn’t call this room ‘luxury’ - plain white decor, laminate rather than carpet, had to balance the kettle on a bar stool to make tea/coffee, green fire-exit light on all night, background hum of air-con (or was it the boiler)…
Having said that I wouldn’t blame the hotel, we could’ve gone and asked for a different room once we saw it. It was fine for one night on a Tesco Clubcard budget (LOL)! Plus they offered great service, even checking the room for our eldest’s ear buds when we phoned to say we thought we’d lost them! And the breakfast was yummy!

The location was perfect for what we wanted that was to experience the night life around Mathew street. The car park was just across the road with reasonable rates given the discount from the hotel.i would certainly recommend this hotel

The dixie dean is in a great location. We had 4 adults in a room and the room was massive with 2 3/4 beds pushed together and a king size bed that was sooo comfy. 3 of is fitted in the jacuzzi bath which was entertaining to say the least 😁 the room was a great size hairdryer and wardrobe also a kettle, tea coffee and toiletries. breakfast was great with a goos variety of continental ans cooked with a selection of drinks to go with it and fruit. Bar had offers on.

Fantastic, spacious room. Jacuzzi bath was a bonus. Staff were lovely. Will definitely be back.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely chilled atmosphere. Great buffet breakfast, plenty of choice of fresh, tasty variety of cooked food, pastries, cereals and fruit. Very quick Taxi service from front desk which was excellent as I had a hospital appointment in the morning.

Last minute booking thought wed booked a double toom but its a party hitel eith 6 bedded rooms
The girdt room we were shown was dark eith 6 beds
Our toom was changed to a lighter room.eith two huge sofas rather than beds
The teception and bar areas ate dark too
Staff really helfull,friendly andbin a grest central.location
Breakfast great too omly gripe only scrambled egg no.poached or scrambled

Holy moly! Our experience at the Dixie dean was amazing!!! The concierge was so friendly and pointed out all of the local to dos as well as take some time to explain the local customs. The mood at the bar is spot on and what I often envision heaven looks like (jk jk but it was really nice) the jacuzzi was to die for and our rooms were so comfy and spacious there were many hotels we stayed at but this one will always hold a special place in our hearts.
