Very convenient location, next to train station, and close to bus stop. Stayed 6 nights. Complained on first day that two hallway lights leading to our room were not working, so the hallway was dark . Never fixed during our stay.
Two days , housekeeping knocked at around 12 noon , and were told “not now please.. later” . They never came back .
Nexpresso machine stopped working.. told receptionist who told me that the machine must need cleaning of the old pods . I asked if the person cleaning the room would do that , and was told they don’t, the guests have to . Ridiculous!
Breakfast is good , but at around 18 euros, a little expensive. .

The smaller rooms have a very small bathroom and no door. The slightly larger rooms were perfect for a grandmother and 17 yr old grandson and the bathroom had a door!

Compared to 1.5 years ago, the hotel is not the same. Am staying there 2 nights and will be back for 2 nights but doubt if there will be a stay after that.
In the past I truly enjoyed the service, cleanliness and atmosphere. Not so much anymore.

Nice place, but keep in mind that you can not watch Netflix in this hotel. They use a proxy server and thus Netflix won't allow you to access your account. A bit silly in a further fine hotel.

Very nice hotel in a quiet town, close to a small train station which can take you 30 +/- minutes to get to Amsterdam Central station or straight to Schipol Airport, 5 minute walking will take you to a local shop or 15 minutes to the main town centre with various different shops (including a bike shop, cafés shopping centre and a McDonald’s) and next to a park

Depends on what your looking for. We were visiting friends that lived close to this location. For us that worked since we were just spending our sleeping time at the hotel.

The relative location to the train is fantastic. Especially since we needed only 40 mins to get to the airport.

We did not have the breakfast or any food at the hotel.

OK, But Not as Great as Other Bastion Hotels

Pleasant stay at this hotel. Check in staff was not welcoming or very helpful, but checkout staff were fantastic. Overall hotel could use a bit of general cleanup, especially in the hallways. Room was of average size with semi-comfortable beds. Bathroom slightly below average in size but plenty of hot water in a walk-in shower. Towels clean but a little worn. Shampoo and soap provided.
Hotel is directly across from the train station so extremely convenient. Not as noisy as you might expect. WIFI is a bit hit and miss depending on location in room.
Main disappointment was when we were advised the hotel had no ice. This came from the young lady working in the bar. Needless to say we didn't bother with a drink there. When we returned to the hotel several hours later she was extremely pleased to advise us she had made 3 ice cubes while we were out. She didn't offer them to us, just let us know she had made them. When we requested a glass of hot water to make some tea. she provided us with a hot glass, but without water. We made the request again, and another member of the staff explained to her (in Dutch) we wanted a glass of hot water to make tea, not a hot glass. She told him she was unable to do that, and I don't know why since her explanation was in Dutch.
Not much in the immediate area except a coffee place at the train platform (which was closed).
The overall stay was adequate, but the experience could be greatly improved. Not sure if I'd stay here again or not.

A good stay. Room, bathroom, dining room, lobby practical, clean, comfortable, pleasant decor and furniture; hotel bordered by pretty shrubs and flowers, under beautiful mature trees. Quiet leafy but convenient location with ample parking opposite an electric railway station, next to a fantastic forest and heathland park with walking trails, and a large municipal indoor swimming pool. Major attraction nearby is Naarden's unique, gorgeous moated 16th century fortress and old town (40 mins walk or via next railway station to the north. This hotel is a good base also for Amsterdam and Utrecht as Dutch trains are rather fast, quiet, plentiful, comforatable, uncrowded, punctual and inexpensive. Friendly helpful knowledgable staff.

Similar to other reviews staff were rude at check-in. I was told to go sit down and wait as the girl was busy on the computer. She seemed to have an unfriendly attitude. Apart from that the Hotel itself was very good. I have stayed here many times and the Bastion Hotel Group seem to have a continuous improvement program. In the room which I stayed in, the bathroom has been redesigned. It is more spacious, has a walk in shower and they have removed the annoying shelf above the wash basin. The décor in the room has been updated and has Air Conditioning for added comfort but could do with brighter lighting. The Hotel generally represents good value for money.

Room was clean and modern. As seems to be a trend with newer hotels the sink is very small and designer, which I found makes shaving difficult, especially with the shelf directly above.
Breakfast was a little limited compared to other hotels I have stayed in at this price range, however the quality of the food was fine.
Overall a fine hotel for the few nights of my trip.

The room didn't look anything like the room shown on the internet. I booked a deluxe room and when I got to the room it looked exactly like the comfort room. I asked why it didn't look like the deluxe room and was told the difference is not in the finishings but the size and I had the bigger room. There is therefore a very misleading difference in finishings in the photos between the room types.

The heater in our room didn't work so the first night was freezing cold and after complaining 3 times we were moved to another room, after that this wasn't an issue anymore.

I put my clothes on a shelf and upon taking it out again found a huge amount of dust on my clothes (photo attached).

The only good thing about the hotel besides it's proximity to public transport was the staff who really did try and help.

Interconnecting doors/phone/cleanliness

Sleep constantly interrupted, the interconnecting doors in the corridors constantly banging up until 12 30am and starting again at 6am with guests coming and going, we were told worker's used this hotel and left for work between 6 and 7 am.

No information how to use the phone, no dial tone.

Cleaning none existent for 3 nights stay, en suite doors changed without prior notification to guests, personal items, ie clothes were subject to drilling etc, floor left with debrist from installing doors, floors in the bedroom not swept or cleaned, sink not cleaned. Bed made, but dust on lamp shade.

Sink absolutely ridiculous, narrow sink with shelf above, impossible not to (a) bump your head, (b) get toothpaste on the floor, terrible design. Lighting in adequate.

Excellent value for money, all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. Reasonable sized room. Work desk and seating make it ideal for business trips. Small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and a room safe. In a quiet location with good parking facilities. A short walk from Bussum town centre and close to the Train station for easy access to Amsterdam, Utrecht etc.. I have stayed at this Hotel many times and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Unfortunately it is sometimes let down by the housekeeping. If you hang the \"Do Not Disturb\" sign on the door they don't seem to comeback to clean the room later on in the day.

Coming from Madrid where you can have breakfast everywhere at breakfast shops for around 5 to 6 Euros, we were a bit disappointed that their breakfast buffet was priced at 18 euros.
When we checked out to our next destination we discovered that one of my husband's jeans (Eddie Bauer brand) had been \"swiped\", hope whoever took it really enjoys the fit and quality.

We had a lovely stay, room was lovely. I wouldn't advise to stay here if you were to visit the centre as it's a half an hour journey and cost 22 euros a day for a return. There were some lovely staff members but again there were a few rude ones.

Housekeeping not up to normal standard

We have stayed many times at this Bastion which is very convenient for family visits to Netherlands. Unfortunately on this occasion housekeeping equipment was left for almost 2 days in a dangerous place in the corridors and on one day of our 4 night stay the room was not cleaned at all or laundry changed. This was a disappointing failure as we have normally been pleased with service here.

Big mistake to choose for this hotel. Is this really a 3-star hotel? It feels like a max. 2-star hotel. This hotel is not for business travellers. Wifi is very very slow. Don't try to run any streaming videos. You cannot even sent a simple email thru MS Outlook. Bed is not comfortable for my taste. Woke up with back- and neck pain every morning. Smelly carpet in the corridor to the rooms. Towels rough to skin. Room is very small. However hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

This hotel was ok overall, but it really needs a new make up and a complete update of their facilities. The t.v for eaxample, was from my grandparents years, And so small, I didn't even think those T.Vs were still around. All in all unless you are there to see Bussum, which is a nice enought town, there is no other reason to pick this hotel.

The hotel location next to the railway station was very practical for accessing the Hilversum Media Park one stop down the line at Hilversum North. Its location on the edge of open heath land was pleasant for running in after work, although distance from the center of Bussum and its facilities meant my stay was too reliant on the in house restaurant, which was adequate, rather than good.

This hotel is excellent overall. There are only two things that may not be optimal but there is really nothing the hotel can do about it. One is that the shower space is very small. I am a regular sized person and I still feel it is a little tight. It is definitely not working for a big person. The other one is that this hotel is located in a tiny town, although right beside the train station. There is basically nothing within 10 minutes walk except for a gas station. The closest restaurant is about 10 minutes walk away. But the parking is free and easy if you drive.

The only drawback was no air conditioning so my room was too warm. This was the 6th hotel I have stayed at in Western Europe and it was by far the best value. A really comfortable hotel near Amsterdam Center

Nice stay, clean and right in front of train station. However, you may hear train run by once in a while depending on where your room faces. I didn't notice it much myself. The hotel was a comfortable stay. Keep in mind it cost about $4-5 one way to take train to central amsterdam and same amount coming back to hotel which should be factor into total cost per day if u plan to travel out to central amsterdam each day. Otherwise, a great stay.

If I visit Amsterdam again I will definitely look here first. Easy to find, very welcoming, quiet, clean and comfortable (kettle in room). Free parking. 10 to 15 minutes walk into Bussum where some good restaurants - and the hotels ! Train station 20 metres and 9 Euro return to Amsterdam Central (if you like beer try Gollum)(Rijksmuseum 2.80 by tram- hour ticket - 10 minutes and stops outside).

Yes the room are a little small - but no less comfortable than much larger and more expensive elsewhere.

It was a great hotel, we decided to come to Amsterdam last minute and really the only option for us was Bastion, but we were very happy with the service and quality of the hotel. They let us check in early, everything was clean and we were pretty happy with everything. The only thing is our toilette started running constantly but it was because the flusher was loose, but nothing that really bothered us. Also, the train station is directly in front of the hotel which was perfect for us and we loved that, if you looking to book this hotel, I would say go for it!

Stroll to trains to Amsterdam and airport and free parking. Need train or car to reach shops or restaurants. Quiet and good breakfast. Beware that station not manned and ticket machines only accept Maestro debit or coins - 2 returns to Amsterdam 18 euro. Seems to be a known problem as hotel refused to change 20e note for coins as did shops and bank in nearby town. Ended up getting passer by to charge to his card and paying him with note. Stupid system.

The hotel's position next to the station and its relatively small size are its biggest assets. The staff are friendly and helpful, both at reception and at breakfast. The rooms and bedding are very spartan, but for this price, businessmen and tourists can be satisfied with the no-frills ambience.

Sufficient room for a short stay

We stayed here for 3 days, moved the twin beds together and, aside from the shower (described in other reviews) had no suggestions for improvement. Staff was very helpful and allowed us to check in before 8:00 am on our day of arrival.

Right outside train station. Hilversum is a nice little town nearby.

Værelse nr. 40 var slidt og træt. Badeværelset var minimalt og generelt trænger stedet til en opgradering. Vi har været der for et par år siden og der var standarden generelt højere. Der var døre der klappede & smækkede i lige udenfor døren, dette var hele aftenen og natten, hvilket var meget generende. Personalet var til gengæld helt i top og meget serviceminded.

Het klimaat was heel goed in de kamer. Ook was de kamer stil hoewel de trein er vlak langs kwam. De parkeerplaatsen aan de voorkant, gereserveerd voor gasten, waren vaak vol waardoor we aan de achterkant parkeerden. Omdat het regende liep het water over de rand van de stoep waar het hek stond. Dan had je natte voeten en de regen kon niet goed weg. Voor de rest prima!

El aire acondicionado no funcionaba (o lo hacía pero no refrescaba), y pasamos 5 noches con temperaturas de 25 grados durmiendo mal. No te hacen la habitación todos los días. Cobran de más en la tasa turística. Se lo dije pero les dio igual. Por su ubicación debes incluir 24 € cada día para el traslado ida y vuelta a Amsterdam en tren. No lo recomiendo.

Gute Lage, direkt am Bahnhof. Parkmöglichkeiten auf einer Handvoll hoteleigenen Parkplätzen oder dem großen P+R Parkplatz neben dem Hotel. Kein Aufzug, Treppenhaus wurde an allen drei Tagen nicht gesaugt und sah neben den Flecken entsprechend aus. Zimmer und Bad klein, aber großer Fernseher auch mit deutschen Kanälen. Elektronische Klimaregulierung. Nur ein kleines Kippfenster zum Lüften vorhanden. Im Bad Kulturbeutel von Vorgängern noch vorhanden. Die Lüftung im Bad läuft 24/7. Matratzen weich, durchgelegen und dreckig. Frühstcksbüffet einfach, an beiden Tagen ohne Abwechslung und alle 4 Käsesorten mit harten Rändern. Personal freundlich, aber aufs nötigste begrenzt.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, ontbijt goed maar erg duur.
Groot minpunt: er hing een zeer penetrante schimmel- en rioollucht in het hotel, het rook echt naar poeplucht, heel vies. De badkamer was zó klein, je kwam er bij niet om de deur heen bij het binnengaan.

Ik vond vrijwel alles prima enkel dat de badkamer vrij klein was, in de douche kon ik me amper keren en op de wc zat ik meteen tegen de wc-rol houder aan

Wir haben uns dieses Hotel ausgesucht, da es direkt am Bahnhof liegt und es eine super Anbindung nach Amsterdam gibt. (Alle 30 Minuten) Trotzdem wir kein Frühstück gebucht haben, konnten wir uns zu den Frühstückszeiten, kostenlos Kaffee holen. Sehr ruhig gelegen, viele Parkplätze.

teleurstellende overnachting

Ik had een kamer op de begane grond aan de voorkant. Recht tegenover het station dus waardoor er veel lawaai was van treinen en reizigers. De badkamer rook naar urine en het beeld van de tv deed het enkel op nl 1, 2 en 3. Het geluid van de tv deed het ook niet goed.

Prima voor een nachtje op doorreis. Wel veel geklap met deuren, veel gepraat op de gang (tot laat). Vriendelijk en adequaat personeel.
Beperkte parkeerplekken.
