Eye Hotel is a quirky hotel but with great rooms, free coffee all day and a 'plank' breakfast. The location is great. Close to all the bars and restaurants as well as the tourist spots in Utrecht, but quiet, although keep your wits about you with the cyclists!
The reception staff were great. Really friendly and helpful.

We like the location and the decoration of the hotel. Room is spacious, kid like bunk bed. However, this area is noisy during night, parties till 3-4 am, for light sleeper, I won’t recommend.

Eye, Eye, look no further!

Hotel was located in a great area - less than 15 minutes walk from the train station and no noise heard at night.
Room was lovely and the shower really powerful. Had great night’s sleep.
We would be really happy to return. Loads of nearby restaurants and bars if you want to avoid the centre.

Amazing hotel, we had the family room that was made for children, it had anything you'd need and more - our little one loved picking up the books and sat in the comfy chair to read them. There was also a changing table, lovely cot and a baby bath, which made us feel like we were at home. The only criticism would be the room had some stairs, so it would be great if there was an optional stair gate for our peace of mind, as we couldn't leave our toddler alone to roam free; also the shower leaked a little bit from the bottom. Other than that, a brilliant experience, we'll definitely be back!

Really friendly and helpful staff. We got loads of good tips and a very good restaurant recommendation they booked for us. It's a shame we weren't told about the beer festival that was on as we'd have enjoyed that. But we had a great time in Utrecht and the hotel was very clean and comfortable.

Style over experience

Stylish hotel in a great location, but lacked a feeling of hospitality. Staff (except the night porter) gave the feeling that they were busy chilling and that guests were a distraction. Breakfast was ok, but over-designed and strange to mix processed turkey slices plopped into a small bowl with the cheese for breakfast made it feel unappetising

We really enjoyed our stay here. Great location and quirky decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend this place for a week to explore Utrecht and Amsterdam. You can hire bikes too which is nice and easy. If you book, just check your room has a window, some small rooms only have roof lights.

We come to Utrecht at least twice a year to visit family. Having found the Eye for our first visit. It meets our needs very well: comfortable, convenient and clean and we see no need to look for alternatives. That should speak for itself.

Breakfast was inconsistent and not worth the money- First 2days we were given a selection of scrambled egg ( in a jar), rolls, croissant and yoghurt. There was one coffee machine which we had to queue for. On our last day there was no room for us at our time given. We came back half an hour later to be given a small plate of cheese and ham( 2 pieces of each of Brie, Dutch cheese and ham)and were told to help ourselves- there was only bread rolls, jam and one croissant left. I asked for yoghurt which we were then given. There was only one member of staff serving and she seemed keen to go chat to the man serving on the reception. Definitely not worth paying for breakfast!
Rooms were small but adequate. No air conditioning-we had 2 rooms and the air con wouldn’t switch on in either. We had a small patio but it hadn’t been cleaned.
Hotel ok for an overnight stay but I wouldn’t book again. Very limited staffing - receptionists also do breakfast- not ideal at busy times.

This has the potential to be a lovely boutique hotel but sadly it isn’t quite there yet.

Best place to break my RX glasses, when I asked it there was a place to get reading glasses. The response was we are the \"Eye Hotel\" of course we have glasses you can purchase!! 👍😃 The staff made great recommendations for sightseeing & restaurant and we rented bikes from them! Very happy with our stay. Our only glitch was our safe wouldn't close & made an alarm noise!

Beautiful, quaint hotel just off a main road with lots of dining and shopping options nearby. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a ground floor room with a private terrace (sadly, we didn’t get to use it as it was very rainy during our visit). Room was cosy and very clean. Bed was a little soft for my liking but that’s a personal preference. Lovely modern bathroom with high-end bath products which I enjoyed so much that I went out and bought some for myself :)

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at The Eye Hotel and would definitely stay again if visiting Utrecht!
The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming on arrival. In our room there was a welcome postcard too, a nice touch.
The bed was so comfortable enabling restful nights sleep. The location was excellent, very central giving easy access to amenities, trains and buses.

Perfect stay for vacating

Went for a 1 week holiday with wife and 2 kids. Room was made ready early because of how early our flight came in. Perfectly clean, comfortable, and private enough for the kids and us to sleep well! All staff was very friendly and helped answer any questions, find locations, help with public transportation, and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Nothing but good words for this establishment!

A friend and I stayed for one night here and it was a lovely base to explore the centre of charming Utrecht. The room was spacious and the bedding was incredibly soft. The shower was fantastic and the bathroom products were also great. The staff at reception were helpful (restaurant recommendations, finding a spare charger for my friend). And the hotel itself is very well situated - in a quiet area, with lots of restaurants and coffee shops but only about a 3-5 minute walk away from the (relative) hustle and bustle of the canal.

Make sure you've got your eye on this

Stayed here before a few years ago so it was and easy choice to visit again. As previously, this hotel is simply all you can ask for when visiting Utrecht. It is within easy reach of the train station with just a 10 min walk. The location is right in the heart of Utrecht with an abundance of architecture, museums, bars, restaurants and the wonderful canals that make this a lovely city to visit. The Eye hotel is stylish, well equipped, provides a lovely breakfast and is very welcoming. The building itself is stunning and gives you many things to look at as there are a lot of quirky features.

Character hotel in the heart of town

This is a really good place to stay: a modern hotel with literally bags of character. The interior is imaginatively realised and the rooms have stlish individuality without sacrificing either practicality or comfort. Wi-Fi was reliable and the shower was refreshing. The bed was very comfortable and I got a really good night's sleep thanks to black-out curtains as well. The breakfast was very good quality with excellent fresh rolls, juices and coffee. The only downside was the lack of affordable car parking space by the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Eye Hotel tremendously. The location is great, and the hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. From the moment we arrived, we felt very comfortable. The room itself was a good mix of trendy and comfortable. We stayed in one of the basic rooms, but felt it was a great size for two people, complete with a small desk area, nice coffee and tea options, and a good amount of sunlight. The bed was incredibly comfortable—we didn't want to leave it in the morning! On the whole, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Utrecht, and can't wait to stay again!

Me and my girlfriend spent our first anniversary here, and it was a lovely hotel! The room was modern and with a nice view - over a city street. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly throughout. There is a supermarket across the road, and a short walk to Utrecht Centraal Station, shopping centre and frequent trains to Amsterdam. I really hope we go back again!

Highlight of our holiday!!

Stayed 1 night at the Eye Hotel and wish I had stayed longer in Utrecht! The front desk staff were wonderful and accommodated our early arrival, we were surprised our room was ready at 11:00am. The room itself was beautifully decorated and clean - with high ceilings and a spacious bathroom. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine as well. The bed was comfortable but a little too soft for our taste, but nonetheless we had a great night’s sleep. The rainfall shower was a nice touch, although the shower door was a bit troublesome to close. I also read that if you decline housekeeping for the day, the staff will still hang a bag of fresh towels and other items on your door, a nice touch. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay again!

Be sure to check if you are taking one of the cheaper rooms as it is smaller, no tub and located up typical Dutch zolder steps which are a little tricky to navigate and the room does not have coffee in room, which was a big disappointment for me.

Boutique hotel set in the quieter part of town, only 5 mins from Dom Square.

Lovely rooms, well furnished and very comfortable. Mattresses are a bit on the softer side.

Has a small coffee shop within the hotel, but there are plenty of places nearby to go for breakfast or dinner.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

An extremely comfortable hotel in central Utrecht

The hotel rooms are very well appointed and maintained. The décor may not be to everyone's tastes, but I enjoyed the quirky sense of humour it displayed and how it highlighted the hotel's history as an eye hospital. The hotel itself is an easy walk from many of the attractions of central Utrecht.

The staff were also very welcoming. I would like to make special mention of Edwin who, upon learning that I had left a few items in my room, personally delivered them to the accommodations I had moved to.

Overall an excellent trip and I will be returning to visit everything that I didn't have time to see!

Great location & service but poor room design

The hotel has a great location everything is within easy walking distance. It is a designer hotel built on the theme of the former eye hospital it was. However at times the design has trumped comfort. I had a big room but it felt hollow and echoed. A large bed but odd shaped pillows that never felt comfortable, and not a great deal of clothes storage space. The bathroom had a huge corridor to the shower - a total waste of space and the floor was very cold. The shower is good but it is difficult to open the door when you are in the shower without pushing yourself right against the shower fittings. No conditioner in the shower. No bottled water no tissues - i am so used to this in every hotel i have been to that it was obvious in being absent

The Eye Hotel is in central Utrecht within walking distance of most of the interesting places in the city centre. We walked from the train station when we arrived and during our stay walked to many of the city sites. The Dom Tower, the canals, and shopping areas are within a few minutes of the Eye Hotel.The staff was very friendly and provided lots of help in directing us to what we were interested in seeing. The hotel itself had a very unique decor, with an interesting history. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a small elevator to the upper floors but for our room we still had to navigate steps that were steep in places. For our stay it was perfect but if you have mobility issues getting to your room may be a problem.
