This was a stopover on our way to northern Maine. It is very nice and I wish we could have stayed a bit longer, but we needed to move on. Pet friendly and well kept. Easy access and the staff communicated well through emails.

We just needed a place to sleep so we could get up and hit the trailhead, and there weren’t many options in the area. Booked this place not expecting much and it was honestly really nice! The room was spacious and very clean, and we felt safe and comfortable. It was everything we needed and exceeded our expectations. The only issue was the air conditioner. It works fine and it was really needed (we were there when it was extremely hot and humid), but it’s really loud and blows air directly onto the bed at head level, and the vents aren’t adjustable. So we had loud bursts of very cold air followed by silence and still, hot air all night long, so we barely slept and ended up with stuffy noses. So if you don’t need to use the a/c, this place is wonderful!

Property was close to off road trails from the looks of all the others that were staying. We didn't have 4 wheel drive vehicle looks like that would have been a lot of fun. Everything was clean and plenty of space for 4 in our room.

Love the quietness of the area, especially since it’s my hometown. Property was very clean and staff were quick with replies.
My only problem was that they only left half a roll of toilet paper for 3 people for 4 nights and didn’t give any extra. Additionally, there was a scent plug in that EXTREMELY strong, while it smelled nice it was over powering and I couldn’t enter the room until it aired out. The one window was nailed shut (seems like a safety hazard in case of emergency) so we just had to rely on the door.
Otherwise it’s an overall great place to stay, small town, easy access to trails and the sand pits. Staff was quick to give me a code to another room to grab toilet paper from.

A True Maine Experience

The place was just as pictured, in quiet, woodsy surroundings. The trip into Greenville was easy and uncomplicated - we went back and forth at different times of day with no problem. We had everything we needed in the cabin. We would recommend it for sure. Excellent value for the money.

I know Covid did hurt the local economy and there were verry few places eat. Perhaps building out-door cooking stations would help in the future. I have done a lot of traveling in Australia and almost all camping properties dedicate a building for cooking and dinning and cleaning up. the cooking halls are stocked with pots and pans and several sinks with soap. some have refrigerators.

Clean, but not a great experience.

Room was clean and well taken care of. We were disappointed to not be in a cabin. From our booking we thought we would be. But instead in a double side x side room that was like a duplex. Not sure why this happened this way, very disappointed. Beds were extremely hard. There was an envelope asking to tip maid, ut right beside it saying there are no services that they will help with unless an emergency. Lastly - area is nothing to write home about. No views and very little to do. Stay was fine, no frills. Ok for passing if just need a quick sleep to keep moving.

We had a mostly good experience here. When we arrived, we were confused, because unbeknownst to us, our reservation had been for a room rather than a cabin, as Hotels.com had indicated.

What we learned is that there are four private rooms (basic motel rooms, without the space or the cooktops as advertised), and three cabins that are featured in website photos. When we booked, Hotels.com did not differentiate between the two, but it appears to have fixed that now.

Anyway, we thought we had a private cabin, but learned we had been assigned to a private room without the cooktop or cookwear we were expecting to use for supper. As it was late in the day and there were no open places to get food, we panicked when we learned what had happened, but Abbot Trailside Lodging was kind enough to move us to an empty cabin for no extra charge.

The cabin (Cabin #7) was generally very clean, except for the ant infestation in the bathroom. We unwrapped the bar soap and left it by the sink, and within fifteen minutes, large, fat ants were crawling all over it. We killed half a dozen of them and thought the problem was solved. Nope. Every time we left and re-entered the bathroom, about 3-5 supersized ants were crawling over the vanity. We realized that they were coming from the crack where the sink meets the wall. After a couple of false starts, we managed to fend them off by stuffing a paper towel down into that spot.

Other than these issues, the place was great. Highly recommend!
