It's definitely not a 4* hotel!

The size of the room is ok, though as many others have suggested, it needs refurbishment as things are starting to fall apart. For example, the shower floor is wooden deck and when you step on it, it sinks and feels like it's about to break any minute!

I booked the room weeks ahead, and requested for a room on a higher floor. Guess what I got? A room on the first door, and of course that's the only room available in the entire hotel. The room was so dark and lacked natural night.

Reception was under staffed. 1 person available at 3pm on a Saturday. There was only 1 person being served in front of us but we ended up waiting for 10 mins before we were checked in.

By the time we were done, there were at least 5 other people queuing behind us.

Breakfast was horrible. It's not a 4* hotel quality at all. The scrambled eggs were cold and solid.

Looked like it was sitting there for a long time.
I was so disappointed provided it got decent ratings. I travel to BCN regularly but definitely would not be staying at this hotel again.

Second stay - May not stay here again

This was our second time staying at this hotel.

After meticulously following the long list of steps needed to use the in-room safe, which can only be accessed by using a credit card (no key pad options), the safe alarm started ringing. It was impossible to stop. The front desk suggested I follow the steps properly to make it stop. Which I had, numerous times already! I've never seen a more useless and absolutely ridiculous in-room safe and \"security\" features.

The front desk asked us to wait until his colleague arrived and they would be able to help stop the in-room safe alarm. But after a long wait I had to ask for help once more. In fact, I asked to simply change my room, as the noise was annoying and grating. To which front desk said that it's not a valid reason to change room.

When staff finally arrived to fix the issue and reset the safe, they pulled out the room key from the electrical socket so violently that it stopped working. The electrical system in the entire room was officially out of service.

So now front desk is getting us a new room. Not because of the safe, but because the staff was so frantic and careless. To \"appease\" us, they said they would upgrade our room. And what an upgrade it was! It was the exact same room, minus the slippers that came included. Oh, and the broken and unusable fake Nespresso-type machine.

After more than 12-hours of flight travel, the last thing I want to deal with when I arrive at my hotel is stupidity.

The room was small for the price, but was very nice. Bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping service was excellent. Short walk from Placa de Espanya and the art museum. Also easy access to Metro (about three blocks to Hostafrancs station and about four blocks to Espanya). One perk of the neighborhood is that restaurants and stores were much more reasonably priced than in Gothic and La Ramblas neighborhoods.

This hotel has seen better days. The rooms are pretty worn down. The staff was very helpful in moving me to a different room and even sending fruit for the inconvenience. The location is great an easy walk to public transport and Placa Espanya and several local restaurants nearby.

Lovely, modern hotel near both the train station and the airport shuttle for our flight out the next morning.
The hotel staff was very helpful. They were not aware of the VIP free room upgrade, but when I showed them the Expedia offer, they honored it. Everything was comfortable and made for a great stay.

Pestana is conveniently located near Las Arenas and Placa Espanya. Very safe area, not too far from restaurants, bars and site seeing. The hotel was better pictured online and was slightly dated, but overall clean and comfortable for our family.

Overall is a nice enough hotel. Not close to many attractions but still walkable if you don’t mind a couple miles one way- which we did not. We chose it because it’s close to train station which worked out nicely. The only real problem was the shower. About every 15 seconds it would turn so hot you must jump away or be scalded. This happened every time we showered. Also any food recommendations seemed to be based on an arrangement with restaurant. Not actually their honest opinion. Staff was polite.

Lovely 3 night stay in Barcelona

We stayed at the Pestana Arena Hotel for 3 nights. It is in a great location, 3 Metro Stations are nearby and it's a short walk to the Arenas shopping centre with shops, restaurants and a cinema. The view from the roof is amazing. The hotel has everything you need and the staff were great. We couldn't have picked a more suitable hotel for our trip to Barcelona. Wish we could have stayed longer ....

I wish the bed didnt take up the whole space but other than that it was great. It was walking distance to everything and that saved us a lot of money. They called a cab for us to the Sants train station because the Freenow app was useless. The bathroom and bedroom had sufficient space and we enjoyed our stay.

Overall it's a nice property. It's not walkable to city center but a lot of metro and bus stations close by. One day the cleaning lady didn't come but after we talked with front desk, they helped change our towels for the day.

La propiedad está ubicada en un barrio tranquilo, seguro, bien ubicado cerca de estación de metro del bus turístico. El hotel por dentro está muy limpio la habitación también y el desayuno bufet es aceptable. Merece la pena cogerlo si estás uno o dos días pero si estáis más al final resulta repetitivo. Tengo q destacar q el servicio de Marlene (hostess q te atiende en el restaurante también es excelente muy profesional muy agradable trato, q ayuda en todo lo q necesitas y muy educada ). Alma en la reception ayudando muchísimo con las entradas de bus turístico y la Sagrada Familia. Ojalá y en los hoteles encontrásemos trabajadores tan magníficos como ellas dos. Muy recomendable el hotel

Just back from a mini break in Barcelona. I can't say enough good things about the Pestana Arena. Firstly everything in the hotel and room is spotless. The room was decent sized with a really comfy bed and pillows. We had everything we needed in the room. Breakfast was amazing. I have a gluten intolerance and was extremely well catered for.
The hotel is really well located close to a good variety of metro lines so getting around the city was easy.
I wouldn't hesitate to book the Pestana Arena again the next time I visit the wonderful City of Barcelona.

This was our first time in Barcelona. We stayed at Pestana Arena Hotel, not knowing anything about the city, and were happily surprised about our location. We were close to restaurants and local shopping and cafes. Great city!

Pestana Arena Hotel was fine. Receptionists were friendly and helped us get transportation to the cruise terminal. The room was small yet comfortable. We liked the view from our room which gave us a local flavor of the Barcelona lifestyle. Quite educational.

We would like to stay here again for a longer time. You have a great city.

Pestana Arena Barcelona is a very strategic hotel if you arrive at Barcelona Sants Station, 5 minutes walking distance and the metro stations at walking distance as well. Around the hotel you’ll find several nice places to eat or just drink a good coffee (stop by Audrey’s Bread and Coffee or Las Empanadas de Papa). Enjoy Barcelona!

Pestana Arena Barcelona is a great hotel and walking distance to Barcelona Arenas, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and other tourist attractions. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are great too. Would recommend this place for business travellers and/or couples/families.

Not my best experience at a Pestana hotel

I used to travel a lot and had been at others Pestana hotels, but this time I was very disappointed: 1) towels were like sand paper. 2) water pressure in the shower was ridiculously low. 3) to enter the tub/shower was really high and there isn't any support to help you get in or out.

The only good thing was its location, near Plaza España.

Property was very nice and clean. We booked a junior suite and loved the balcony with the hot tub. The room was always serviced very nicely upon request. Plenty of nearby liquor stores for snacks/drinks and pharmacys with medicines and other necessities. Super close to a main transportation hub of buses and nearby metro stations.

Only things that could be fixed are the refrigerators in the rooms didn't seem to be that cold. Also, upon arrival the front staff appeared a little annoyed when we would ask them to repeat themselves. They have a plastic divider up which made them very hard to hear.
The restaurant was closed, when we booked we were looking forward to that and were disappointed to hear it wasn't open.

Other than that we had a wonderful stay! Would definitely stay again.

Everything was great, location, price, cleanliness. The only thing… I wish it had a coffee pot, water in the fridge, a microwave, and an iron. It was very challenging without these things.

Also, the location of the bidet is not adequate when stepping out of the shower. It’s somewhat dangerous.
