Great place and we were sad that we were only staying one night.
I have only given a 4star review because of the hotel being so hot.
Even adjusting the temperature in the bedroom did not help. We didn't realise we could have opened the window to cool the room as we only found it in the morning as we getting ready to leave.
Apart from that it was great in all other areas.
We didn't have any food there so cannot comment on the food in the hotel.

Property is a 10 minute walk to the train station. Staff was very helpful with any request and were always available to assist as requested. Plenty of dining options nearby all within walking distance. Room was clean, comfortable and AC worked well. Overall excellent experience at the property.

Nice clean place. Rooms are large but vinyl planking in hallways and rooms makes it very noisy, especially when other guests come home late and you can hear the heels echo in the room and hallways. They need some rugs.

I had many problems during my one night stay at this hotel. Check in took very long because their system was down, so they couldn't give anyone a room key. Meaning we had to wait along with others for one staff member to run and unlock our rooms, which I found not secure because anyone could claim they stayed in a room and they didn't check identity or verify. Then, as soon as I walked in my room I noticed there was still waste in the toilet, and it had not been cleaned. There was no WiFi the entire stay, which made it difficult for me to plan any excursions or talk to family back home. The air conditioning in my room didn't work and it was so hot and uncomfortable. There is absolutely no soundproofing, and the rooms are connected through the bathroom vent, so you can hear when a person goes to the bathroom; what they're doing in there and can smell it. To make matters worse a lot of people in the hotel smoked in the non-smoking rooms which floated to my room, and there was no possible window to open and no AC so all my clothes smell like cigarettes. To top it all off my room didn't have hot or warm water to shower with. When I let staff know, they were extremely apologetic and gave me a free hard cider as compensation, which was very appreciated but cannot take away from my horrible experience. I have been to 4 different hotels my entire stay in BCN and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone if you value comfort, and safety while traveling.

Best hotel with really nice rooms and very friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of hot/cold options. Area is safe with very short walk to metro station. The most comfortable beds and pillows. Soundproofed windows which is great. Bathroom is large and there was lots of storage in room. We will stay here again if we ever get to come back to Barcelona.

Only around 50 rooms, so quite quiet.

My friend and I stayed here for our trip and it was absolutely wonderful! As some have said the room was on the small side but it was more than adequate for our needs. The shower had good water pressure, you could link apps to the tv, and they even offered us free umbrellas when it was raining. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend staying here.

We have loved our stay in this hotel . They were very attentive for a lot of our needs (getting us a taxi and recommending restaurants). The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The junior suite was lovely in so far as it was spacious well appointed and had everything we expected. The downside was the noise from some sort of fan that starts and stops intermittently but makes a huge noise like a door being slammed, on some occasions you can feel the room shudder. The late night noise is also amplified from reception and where the bar is, it’s quite unfortunate because the rest of the experience was wonderful.

Very close to main train station, no need for taxi. Further away from many main points of interest, but if you enjoy walking, you are fine. Easy access from the airport via train station. Rooms a little smaller but very clean.

Overall we loved the hotel. The staff was courteous and friendly. The room was very clean, comfortable and cozy with a living room separately, a walk in closet, a double sink bathroom and a nice king size bed. A plate of fresh fruits as welcoming token was a plus! The only issue we had was the noise from the AC every time it kicked on. I’m a very light sleeper so that was a bit difficult for me. The room is the very first room you see when you enter the hotel, up a few steps of the stairs. Other than that, we loved the hotel. Location was great too as we needed to be close to the Sants Station to catch an early train to Madrid. Public transportation was so easy to access. We didn’t need to rent a car!

Fantastic hotel situated in a narrow building on the main Roma Road. I had the Bcn suite and it met and exceeded all my expectations.

The staff there were professional and welcoming. A nice touch, later on in the afternoons, was a small selection of cakes and a fruit infused water dispenser.

Breakfast is €10. The first morning we went outside for breakfast and spent a similar amount. The next morning we had breakfast in the hotel - and immediately wished we hadn’t gone out to breakfast the previous day. Breakfast in the hotel was far superior.

My husband and I stayed at the Catalonia for our anniversary. The hotel is about a 5-6 minute walk to Barcelona Sants station. The hotel itself is clean but the rooms were small. The pictures are a little deceiving however the room was clean and the ac and wi fi worked well. There is a rooftop pool small but it’s cute and clean. The staff were the most helpful and friendly. They really helped us with the metro and local attractions to see. They were very kind and really made the Catalonia a pleasant stay. This hotel is not downtown however they are near sants and espanya station and the location was perfect for us to catch trains to do day trips from Barcelona such as Monserrat and Girona. Overall, it was a cozy cute hotel with a great staff!

This hotel is a short walk from Barcelona's main train station (Sants). It is clean and friendly. The rooms all have their own safes to keep your valuables. (All hotels should have safes!)
I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Barcelona.

A compact city hotel. The room was well appointed and clean and the staff friendly. Centrally located right by Sants Station. Ideal if you are spending a long weekend exploring the city. I was in a ground floor room so there was a little bit of noise, but I didn't get disturbed at night and it didn't spoil my stay.

We stayed one night before we catch a train back to airport. They upgraded us to a suite room next to the reception on ground floor, which we appreciate that. It’s noisy in the morning as the room is above the breakfast area.

The most unbelievable thing is THEY CHARGED EXTRA 7EURO FOR BREAKFAST FOR A TWO YEARS OLD.
We have been traveled with our daughter for more than 15 trips inside and outside of the U.S. This is the first hotel that charged extra for a breakfast for a 2 years old who eats so little. They didn’t inform us before, but after we started our breakfast, they brought extra bill to us.

Excellent hotel located very close to Sants railway station. Everything was fine except the (rather expensive) breakfast. On previous visits it was very good but this time not so. The scrambled egg was cold, the bacon tough and I had to wait a long time for a fried egg.

Disappointing experience

I was not impressed with the service at the Catalonia Roma Hotel. The staff was not helpful on the check-in and very unhelpful during check out. I had two separate bookings, on my last night although I had paid already the hotel. They asked me to change hotels because the hotel was fully booked. It was inconvenient and they do not offer any help to solve this problem. They never apologized for the inconvenience or tried to make my experience better. It was disappointing. I do not recommend this hotel.

The recepcionist at check-in needs to change her job. No welcoming or genuine smile. She need too pay attention about the guest requests. We book a double room away from the A/C noise.
1st room given: twin room (two beds).
2nd room given: level E under the A/C machines.
3rd room given: 3 level with an excelent view to the A/C machines.

Honestly I think she was requesting me for this review.

The night auditor is a nice gentleman, always with a smille in his face and very polite and the check-out was ok and quick.

For an hotel with 20 years I think the cleanliness was ok.

Staff lovely and friendly, every single one we met! We were upgraded to the suite. Very spacious, large, super comfortable bed! Very clean. Great breakfast (on offer at €8 each, was great value) Rooftop pool was great, a few sunbeds, plugs. Pool was quite small but clean and perfect for a dip.

The suite was lovely but due to it's location just off reception and above the kitchen it was sometimes loud. One morning we were woken up by noise at 6.30am.
No coffee making facilities in the room (it states machine in the room on the website)
Only one iron for the hotel and always difficult to find it when you need it (maybe they should take the room number of who has it and request it back before that room goes out?)
Aircon didn't work, an attempt was made to fix but it didn't work and it was just left. In all honesty I didn't chase it up afterwards as the room wasn't super warm.

Generally a good hotel.

Just make sure you guys know how to get from the nearest metro stations to the hotel. Me and a friend had to go a lot when we didn't had google maps in hand.

Also check if you have proper blankets in your room,because we didn't.

They have a lovely habit from 6.30pm to 9pm of serving tea and coffee and small cakes. Just lovely. really liked it.

The staff is very nice and helpful. They helped us really at the desk on the lobby.

A holiday in Barcelona

A Holiday in Barcelona to go to a barca game and see the fabulous barca team their wonderful gameplay with the best soccer player in the planet!!, the hotel is close to the Sans train station (4 blocks),the area has not much to seeall the important areas are away from the hotel, still the metro is pretty efficient. The staff was very accomodating and helpful.

I booked this hotel (Catalonia rOMA) because it was close to the Barcelona Sants railway station. When I arrived on the planned date, I was advised that they did not have a room because of some air conditioning problem. However there were people living in the hotel?
I stated the reason for the booking was primarily the closeness the the railway station and I did not want an alternative.
The reception was adamant that this was not possible, but they were placing me in another Catalonia Hotel. I said, I didn't want a hotel too far away. They said they would provide a taxi and it was not too far away.
A taxi arrived and after speaking to the reception he took us to a Catalonia Hotel in Plaza Espana. I spoke to the reception and they called Roma and we found out we had been dropped at the wrong hotel. Another taxi trip this time to the old town of Barcelona at the top end of Le Ramblas in the Catalonia Plaza. This hotel was much farther away from the Station.
We checked out the next day. I asked Roma to book a taxi for me, but they said, I had to book it, stop at the Roma and they would pay for the taxi. I was to pay from the Roma to the Station.
I didn't bother. Totally disgusted with this lot.
