Hands down the best thing about this hotel is the people that work there. From the front desk staff to the barista’s to the management everyone was very accommodating and friendly. We got stuck there due to the snowstorm and they were able to give us a lower rate to our room and still keep us in a higher rated room. They allowed us to have late checkout and we’re very helpful with providing tips.

The rooms are large, clean and very cute really like the furnishings and accessories very old-school New York. Coffee shop is great never experienced the bar as we always got home too late and it was already closed. Overall great location. Wish they had some type of food option on location in the evening as we had to always order DoorDash or Uber eats if the kids were hungry.

Location is top notch. Old hotel with character. Amazing bed. Very large deluxe king room. Heat wasn’t working and a portable heater arrived in my room within minutes, great fix.

A bit more attention to room deferred maintenance would be good - like going room to room to proactively assess. A painting hung on the wall kept going crooked and someone could probably walk through the rooms with a toolbelt to show some TLC and fix that sort of thing. .

No coffee in room for a $500+ a night hotel is a definite miss.

Cons- no outside light by stairs coming into hotel ( we arrived at night and the hotel looked “ spooky” in the dark, as well as the fact we could have gone headfirst down the steps), hotel carpets heading to elevator were filthy, the front desk is a person standing beside their laptop, the lobby is a coffee shop so it was usually quite crowded.

Terrible service. Ridiculously overpriced. They said they would bring bags up to our room but did not. We had to do that ourselves. Bathroom wall paint was peeling. Bath tub drain was not working. Poor front desk service. The lobby bathroom was gross and not serviced. The room rate was as much as the Four Seasons or Plaza but the service was complete trash. Avoid this hotel at all costs. It is a total racket. NEVER COMING BACK.

Only one elevator but we didn’t find it an issue since we could take the stairs from the 2nd floor.

You can’t beat the location if you come into Penn Station. All you have to do is get on the High Line and walk until it’s time to get off.

Our room was extremely clean and I was able to sleep well because there was no noise interference.

Our only issue was that the shower didn’t drain so that made it unusable. We were only in town for one night so we dealt with it and management gave us a partial refund.

While I understand that the hotel is an older property, I feel in general that the whole place (room included) needed some TLC. The room's bathroom tiles, especially, needed a good scrub. The threadbare carpet in the middle of the room seemed to also be producing a rather pungent mildew smell. The staff were friendly and the area was great, but I would not return.

I had a wonderful stay at the High Line Hotel. The location is tucked just off the High Line, which made it feel peaceful and quiet while still being close to everything. The building itself has an older charm that adds to the character of the experience. The bed was excellent, one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in at a hotel, which made for a great night’s rest. Overall, it’s a unique and relaxing place to stay in the city, perfect if you want comfort and a quieter atmosphere without being far from the action.

We stayed at The High Line Hotel over a hot August weekend to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We were greeted upon arrival, however it wasn’t until we were inside checking in that we realized the man who offered to take our bags was actually apart of the hotel - he didn’t have a marked uniform on.

We stayed in a double queen room. It’s by far the largest room we’ve ever stayed at in New York. There were 2 closets! The bathroom was large. The water pressure was pretty good. The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet from other guests. The first night we heard noise from outside traffic but on the second night we did not. Overall it’s more of the quieter hotels we’ve stayed at in the city. We didn’t receive turn down service as mentioned on the website and I wasn’t able to get any help from the hotel on birthday decor or a special treat for my daughter.

Loved having the coffee shop downstairs. Everything we had was great. Would have loved to have had a cocktail at the outside bar but it closed before we got home each night. We didn’t use the bikes but they looked brand new. The hotel staff made excellent recommendations - we enjoyed Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company as well as Gotham Pizza.

Location was great for us. We walked to Broadway, the Flat Iron District, the NYC Public Library, Times Square, The Village and took a subway down to the Financial District. The High Line entrance is right across the street from the hotel and Chelsea Market around the corner.

The best feature of this hotel is its location especially for The High Line, Hudson Yards, Chelsea Market and The Whitney Museum. Our room # 27 1/2, was quite small despite the hotel advertising that its rooms are oversized. Maybe we got this room because we booked through Expedia at a slightly discounted rate.The room was clean and comfortable and the staff and service excellent. There is a beautiful courtyard in front but once the Fairweather Bar opens, hotel guests are not allowed to sit there and drink coffee even if purchased from the hotel cafe. There’s a rear courtyard but it’s not well shaded. Also, the hotel advertised a free breakfast and Ed water bottle for each room but had none at the time of our stay. Overall, not a great value for the price.

The location is definitely the only thing standing out and the idea of the Hotel—very convenient for getting around New York, and surprisingly quiet for Manhattan, which was appreciated. However, the condition of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The building is very old, and it shows. There’s a persistent musty, old smell, and we noticed signs of mold. The AC is very loud, and I am not a light sleeper and I had a hard time. Between that and the smell. The walls were visibly uneven, with several areas showing patch jobs that looked like quick fixes for deeper structural issues. Cleanliness was below average, and there’s no concierge or security, which made the stay feel more like a dated apartment rental than a proper hotel for the money. If you're only after a quiet spot in a good location and don't mind rough conditions, this might work—but it’s far from comfortable or well-maintained.

I had high expectations for the High Line Hotel given its reputation and prime Chelsea location, but unfortunately, my recent stay fell far short of what I anticipated. The room felt dated and worn, but not in a good way, and not matching the premium price point. There was a musty smelly throughout. The biggest issue was the poor value. The rates are high considering the lack of amenities, lobby area, and service. The bathroom was gross. Definitely fell short of a four star hotel - closer to two stars.

The bare bones of the building looked cool, but basic things were terrible (by that I mean “basically everything”). For example, there were typewriters in the lobby, but half the keys didn’t work or got stuck, and the ink tape was dry. The coffee bar was open from like 7:00-7:05 AM. The stair situation was some kind of labyrinth. The elevator was dark AF and slower than your grandma’s 5k time. No shampoo in the bathroom. Booked a room for two and there was only one bath robe. The plug in the bathtub was either stuck down or detached completely. The mattress was fine, but the pillows were excessively squishy (like your dad). The rug under the bed had holes in it. Pretty sure the paint chips around the windows had lead in them and the owner ate them.

Pros: The “front desk” staff (who stood at a built-in book shelf in the lobby) were friendly, the bicycles we used functioned appropriately, the toilets flushed well, the complementary water bottles you had to specifically ask for worked as expected. There were sharpened pencils in the room. The location was deece.

Cons: basically everything except the bro at the front built-in book shelf with the iPad. The gym situation - you gotta ask for the gym post card, then get over to the Chelsea Piers Fitness place (if you don’t get the giant post card with a QR code the fitness center will give you a hard time). You could just sign up for a free first month at Equinox and it would be nicer and closer.

Overall not worth the $$$$.

A beautiful, historic property in a quiet part of Manhattan. Centrally located, but far enough to have a respite after a day of sightseeing. Lots of coffee shops, restaurants frequented by locals are nearby.

Hotel hallways are a little run down, but the rooms are spacious (compared to other NYC hotels).

For us, traveling with the dog it was excellent. You feel like you're on the set of a Wes Anderson film. It is very quaint. Our room was super small, but the mattress was very good. I would like more in room amenities like a coffee maker or better glassware Instead of lots of sharp pencils and an envelope sealer. It was not a very practical room. I cannot remember the last time I stayed in a hotel with a window unit air conditioner, which was very noisy to sleep with but needed. The property itself is very nice especially the downstairs coffee bar in the outside areas, but there is no food. We ended up going to the Chelsea market and getting nibbles and taking them back and just having them at the outside table area with some drinks. It is the most dog friendly hotel you can imagine and for that it made it worthwhile for us.

We had great hopes for this hotel and we’re excited to stay somewhere different for our yearly business trip to New York. The hotel was lovely and the staff was super welcoming. However, on night 2, the heating went off. I’m not sure if it was property wide, but our room was affected and it was almost unbearable. We had to ask for heaters and for extra blankets. (it would’ve been great to have some kind of communication from the hotel manager about what was going on and offer these things, but we heard nothing about it) We even bought our own heating pads because it was very cold in the night was around 18° or 19° on average. We did ask for a bill adjustment, but if they did, it was hardly noticeable. That was a bit disappointing.
The only other thing I would say is that because it’s an older (and beautiful! ) property, and the glass must be a little thin, we could hear almost every outside noise. We were on the second floor, so pretty close to the sidewalk, but people would sneeze and we could hear it. I think I’d stay there again, but I would make sure it was fall or spring so that we wouldn’t have to worry about the temperature situation.

Great location. Friendly staff. Very quiet hotel for sleeping. I was in the city for a weekend seminar and the hotel was walking distance. However I had no hot water for my shower my first morning and I had to wash my hair in the sink which weirdly did have hot water. I was told by a nice gentleman that he’d have an engineer look at it but it was still cold when I checked out. I did see a previous review with the same issue so it must be a building issue.

Unfortunately, our stay was marred by significant noise issues. Our lower floor room was directly impacted by lobby and cafe activity starting around 5 am, making sleep impossible. The room itself felt unclean and eerie, with visible blood splatter on the bathroom wall. A persistent musty odor added to the discomfort. While the bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly, the poor sound insulation and cleanliness issues overshadowed any positives. The dim lighting and haphazard renovations further detracted from the experience. We resorted to melatonin to get any sleep on our final night.
