Dirtier than you think it’d be - roaches everywhere, and an actual trail of poop in the hallway (likely from a dog but with this franchise who knows) we told the guy at the front desk and he was just as grossed out as us but didn’t do anything about it. Spend the extra $100-200 and stay literally anywhere else! Only reason we had to spend the night was because we waited too long on booking and everywhere else was sold out.

Overall the room was not to a standard of cleanliness that would be expected. Linens and room seemed clean at first glance but the room and property were in a state of disrepair - strong lingering smell of second hand smoke throughout the building and room, cobwebs on the room ceiling, stained towel, chipped paint, and sighting of a beetle like bug in the room that looked frighteningly like a little cockroach. Would not recommend or stay again.

My boyfriend and i think this place is a sex hostel. Comfortable room and nice reno. However, i had stayed at hotel previously and had no issues. Wanted a cheap hotel. But this visit was hell. Our experience was awful. We booked through Expedia. Upon arrival we were told we did not have a reservation. They then “found my reservation” and said it had been canceled and told me to contact Expedia. I did and Expedia customer service said nothing was canceled and I 100% had a confirmed booking. They asked to put me on a brief hold to call motel 6. I was standing in the lobby and could hear the phone ring multiple times. The front desk woman that day did not answer the phone. Then told me she refused to answer because there was no manager to talk to Expedia and she refused to. Then proceeded to tell me my reservation was canceled and there was zero rooms available. We were in Newport for my brothers wedding and had the rehearsal dinner that we were running short of time. So my husband and I went out in parking lot frantically looking for other hotles in the area. Motel 6 popped up saying they had THEEE available rooms for that night. So my husband went back in and showed the front desk clerk. She began to tell him that the internet was wrong and there was none. After a few minutes she said let me call my manager and come back in in 5 minutes. My husband waited and went back in. In 5 minutes. Magically she had a room for us. It was 10min of 5 (5 was the start of my brothers wedding rehearsal dinner) so we ran to our room and quickly got ready. When we entered the room was filthy. Pee in the toliet. Hair all over bathroom sink. We checked out next morning.

If not for the convenience of being next door to a shopping plaza and the low price, this would deserve negative stars. The whole place gave \"crack den\" vibes and smelled terrible. The smell changed several times, like some kind of awful Russian roulette of stink. The room was bare, filthy, and there were stains on the \"clean\" sheets. Worst hotel experience I could have ever imagined. Human trafficking awareness poster in the lobby was a great touch.

I work 16 hours a day, I understand people are on vacation. I should not have to listen to others yelling and partying and dogs barking like mad. During reservations you should ask if for business or personal so you can separate the two and move those who are noisy not the ones who can't sleep because you can't do your job of controlling your hotel. Also fix the water pressure.

This might be the most disgusting motel I’ve ever been to. Not only was the lobby a disaster, which in hindsight should’ve been my first red flag, but the room we stayed in was beyond filthy. Cobwebs all over the place, dust and mold growing on the walls and floor, and the bathtub was covered in visible stains. The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming, and on top of all this, I found out I got a horrible infection from my stay because of all the mold. I do not recommend this place one but and if I could I’d demand a full refund. Worst stay ever and hope the place gets shut down for its disgusting atmosphere.

I have never had an experience as awful as my stay at Motel 6 Newport R I. To get to Newport on Public Transportation only to be told that my reservation was cancelled yesterday, by Motel 6. Then for me to beg for a room to sleep, only to get a room with no working TV and no refrigerator. The next day, the manager was nasty and hostile refusing to read the emails from Hotels.com or even listen to my explanations. She told me either I accept the room as is or she could refund my money back to me. I then called Hotels.com to complain about my problem. After my discussion with them, Motel 6 offered me a better room. All of this was so stressful and took a lot out of the fun experience this trip was supposed to be. I need some kind of compensation.

This was a horrible experience. It began with coming into the check in area and the front desk woman was less than friendly. I told her I booked a room and once she took my name she just said “yeah that room is t available” and just stared at me. I politely said “okay well I’ve already paid for it so what can we do” she rolls her eyes and looks through the system for about 5 minutes. I pulled up my receipt and invoice to hand to her because I was growing impatient and SUDDENLY after seeing it there was a room for two queen beds for less money. I said “that’s totally fine but I paid more for the other room ao I’d like to be reimbursed.” Rolls her eyes again and tells me I’ll have to come down at checkout and “they’d help me” rather than just do it there and then. Once we got to the room I was horrified. The ceilings were dirty, walls were dirty, the towel rack in the bathroom was falling out of the wall. The shower was still wet and had no water pressure. The beds are creaky wire and paper thin. It smelled like mothballs and the room was disgusting. You get what you pay for I guess. I never was reimbursed and I didn’t sleep a wink. Horrible, do not stay here.

The lobby smells of must, cigarettes, and weed. The pictures of this property are deceiving. The entire place is disgusting. Looks like one washer and dryer for the entire hotels linens. The first room I was given was so dark and dank with one night light for the entire room. Switched to another room with minimal lighting, dirty refrigerator, shower, and dirty linens. I made my daughter and friend strip the bed down. Blankets had cigarette burns and stains. We slept on top of the sheets and used our own blankets we thankfully had. The towels for the room came damp and stained. The tub was dirty and so was the refrigerator. The place was also sketchy with signs telling you to park at your own risk. Abandoned cars in the lot with no plates. I felt badly staying here with my daughter’s. We are used to the old Cape Cod style hotels. So that’s not the issue. It’s all about lack of cleanliness. Huge bug on the wall near my daughter’s bed and they were afraid to sleep. Washing everything we brought immediately! Also the lock on the door from the inside for extra security was broken..

An employee double booked my reservation so when I showed up they told me that someone else had our room and that they had no more available so they turned us away and we had to get a $700 room somewhere else last minute. And then they still charged me for the reservation!! Still trying to get a refund!

My only option is to contact my bank and see if they can do something. I understand I do not rate a full refund but, believe some of my money should be returned. As a result, I will never use Expedia.com or a motel 6 ever again. Extremely poor customer service!

Honestly, we have never been to a motel six and didn’t expect it to be as grungy as it was. It was over $300 a night and the room was stinky and the room wasn’t ready and there was only two towels for four of us and we had booked two rooms and one was canceled by the manager prior to our arrival so we ended up just leaving early and driving three hours out of town in the middle of the night to stay somewhere else

Are welcome was to a big pile of debris and belongings outside the front door to go in the hotel. Looks like someone was evicted and they were just hanging out on top of their pile of stuff. The door into the hotel was locked even though it was 7 PM and in a resort area. The staff was outside smoking a cigarette. Definitely had really bad vibes. Paid for a room for four people for one night and got into the room and there was one bath towel for all of us. I would not recommend going to this place. Felt very sketchy. Only reason I didn't find another hotel was because I be paying height of the season room rates. Literally use it just a place to sleep.
