The Vanderbilt is truly the most magical and romantic place we have ever been. My husband and I went for a few days after our wedding to enjoy some relaxation. The service we received from the front desk was incredible. We wanted to change our rooms, and the team was extremely accommodating. Melissa the concierge was amazing as well. She coordinated a 1920s vintage car tour for us and a cocktail making class at the bar. She also helped us set up reservations for dinner!

We are absolutely coming back and cannot wait!

For our 25th anniversary we chose Newport, RI for a getaway. As first time visitors, we researched options and chose the Vanderbilt because it seemed central in location and the fact there were onsite spa services and good bar. This first choice was fortunate because we then met Morgan, the lead concierge. I booked the hotel and then immediately emailed re:spa services. Morgan called within 5 minutes of my email to book our appts and then proactively offered other services, ideas, and resources. She worked with me over email and phone, booking restaurants, an onsite cocktail class with Zach (who is truly amazing as a teachers and cocktail scientist/artist) and getaway spa treatments with Randi (who really knows her stuff and cares) and team.

The stay was great! From check in where we were treated with our itinerary packet and resources to surprise amenities celebrating our anniversary through to check out, it was above expectations. Every staff member was truly friendly and the style of this historical mansion hotel was striking and welcoming. Location was perfect - we walked everywhere and didn’t need our car really.

Highly recommend! When we visit Newport on the future we will stay here again and will check out other Augerge collection properties in other locations in the future. I wish I encountered service and hospitality like this every time. Thank you Vanderbilt crew!

The staff were very chill, friendly, effusively helpful millenials. And every request was possible and executed with impressive lightening speed. Shout out to Morgan who looked after our every need, from setting up car tours to booking and changing dinner reservations upon request. Our stay at the mansion felt very comfortable, and overall we felt very attended to.

The property is decievingly huge with corridors and rooms to discover everywhere. The only small negative is that the walls of our suite were not soundproof so one could hear guests outside our room in the halls and common area. But this did not disturb too often. In the end, really, everything was perfect!

This hotel is a restored mansion built in 1909 for Alfred Vanderbilt's mistress. Such a funny origin for a beautiful inn! Our suite was beautiful, with 15 foot ceilings and lots of amenities. There is tea in the dining room, which was a marvelous experience. Fireplaces, beautiful furnishings, lots of places to sit and relax in the common areas. The fitness room is fine for a small hotel. The staff are exemplary, from our concierge who arranged reservations and made recommendations on things to do to our charming server at tea, to the desk staff and valet. Thank you!

Room was a nice size and very clean, bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast delicious in a very charming atrium in courtyard setting. All staff were extremely professional and helpful, especially when I closed car door on my finger when dropping it with valet. Yes, very expensive, but the location was ideal for walking into town for the boat show, it was a treat.

I so happy with my stay . The moment I step into the mansion staff greet me with Rośe . They all so friendly n call me by my names like I have personal butler . The mansion is beautiful design . Walking around the mansion is like going on a tour. I love The library , the garden and they have a billiard room . Is make u feel like u are home . The room are nice n clear. Is very modern with a touch of renaissance feel.location is perfect is so convenient to walk around .The only delta of this place because is a mansion house built in the old day the sound prove is not so good . I can hear when people walk on the roof or the church bell ring every hour . Other than that everything is great . I will definitely come back again .

The staff were all exceptionally helpful, especially Eli who managed to open a safe in the room that we accidentally locked shut. The front office staff were kind and helpful and the servers and spa staff too. The food is quite good, both breakfast, room service and the fare served at lunch in the dining room.

The décor is stunning but maybe not for everyone as it utilizes of a very dark palate of paint throughout the common areas (except the breakfast conservatory), and in our two bedrooms (cannot say if all bedrooms are equally dark) including the ceilings. This is very cool but could bring you down after a while, especially in the summer months. Our bathroom in one of the suites had beautiful furnishings but the installation of lamps and mirrors etc. was all done in haste and none of the heights matched of sconces - or distance to the mirror or tiles, and the towel rack was at an angle. This is so much more noticeable against the dark blue backdrop.

The winged chairs in the bedrooms are not suited for anyone with male shoulders or above 5' height.

Someone had repaired and painted over the front door of the hotel with a color that did not match without sanding first. These things are very noticeable and a real pity in such a stylish space.

Super disappointing for an Auberge property and the amount of money it costs to stay here. One frustration was that they don’t have hand soap, and haven’t for quite some time according to the maid. The hotel is much more outdated than the photos lead you to believe. The good things were the friendliness of the staff and the location was great.

Beautiful property that truly embraces it's history. We can't wait to return. Our room was outfitted with awesome amenities. The Library was great place to start our stay with a cocktail and small plate. This hotel is hard to leave as they have hip rooftop, gorgeous bar and restaurant and a quaint garden room to enjoy breakfast.

What a gorgeous stay! My husband and I were amazing by the preserved history of this beautiful hotel but also the extremely comfortable and modern amenities. The staff was incredibly personable and when they called before our stay, I mentioned we would be meeting friends there and they knew my friends by name already. Most of the common areas of the hotel were under renovation and this was undisclosed when we booked. We were notified a week before the trip, at a time when it was too late to find alternate accommodations. Additionally, they only told us about lobby renovations when we called. They didn’t tell us in the belated notice that fire pit and spa would be closed. They also said on thwir website and in a letter when we arrived there would be daily oyster shucking classes at 5pm and we were told during our stay that they were canceled.

Unique intimate property- like you are at someone’s home . Front staff mixed. Initial check in reception less than friendly or informative. No mention of amenities. Arrived around 2pm and asked for early checkin as had to b at function at 4pm. Hotel not full. Guest checking in b4 me was given keys for early checkin. I was told they would “do their best”. Was able to checkin at 3. Good location.

Hotel is convenient to Newport activities. Unfortunately, we were awakened repeatedly by church bells from across parking lot that tolled every hour on the hour 24/7. My husband and I stayed at the Vanderbilt for 2 nights for a quick babymoon and It totally exceeded our expectations! The staff was incredibly accommodating, friendly and went above and beyond to make our trip special.

We were greeted promptly upon arrival, offered an amazing warm spiced cider and allowed for early check in. Hannah at reception was the sweetest and filled us in on all of the hotel amenities, events (like daily the oyster shucking demonstrations, smores packages by the fire, etc).

Everyone wore masks and the hotel/Newport area was fairly empty for the most part so we felt very safe there. The hotel rooms and ground were spotless and cleaned by staff on a regular basis. The suite we stayed in was so beautiful and charming! Perfect mix of modern

Very wonderful welcoming staff. They gave us a room upgrade. Maybe because I am a gold member, not sure. The room was very nice, super clean but a bit stark, not warm. It could feel a bit like a nursing home - mint green walls, tan furniture - they could update the colors and add more modern touches to make it more hip and or elegant, but overall the hotel is lovely, very well appointed. Bar inside only had a few seats so we were not inclined to even try the food but the location is so great you can walk everywhere and its quiet. We would likely stay here again, very comfortable

Property location was great. We only had short walk to be in the mist of Newport shopping, eating, sightseeing, bars and clubs. Once, our car was parked we didn’t need it again on unless we Were traveling a distance from our hotel. Such as the great mansions or Cliff walk. Also, there bus route close by that we could travel to many of the sight seeing destinations.

Booked a king bed. Had t wait past 3 to check in. Came back to room tired to sleep. The bed was a queen. The hotel maybe had 3 guests. The room square cottage was also 1/3 less than stated. We slept like very poorly. Hotel staff blamed us, stated that the bed was not guaranteed. The only reason we booked this hotel was the bed. The clerk said the manager was not there and did not want to hear it, and blamed the “Hotels.com third party booking”.

The Vanderbilt Auberge was a big disappointment. We have stayed in many Auberge resorts and thought this would hold up to the brand. It doesn’t in any regard. It’s tired and in desperate need of a complete face lift. It will take rather complete restructuring to bring this even close the the four stars advertised.

Stayed over a dozen times when it was a Grace property- this was our first time back since it had changed management. Must say, while everything was more than acceptable we did miss the welcome glass of sparkling wine, complimentary bottle of wine in the room, and cookies at turn down. Little touches that made this a favorite of ours (and we had come to expect when staying here) were missed, but still, overall good experience.

It is a great place to stay.

The rooms are expansive, with a large living room which included a bar, a large bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. Breakfast is served on an enclosed patio with an extensive list of options. Dinner is likewise first class from steak to seafood together with salad and deserts. Parking for your vehicle is provided as a part of the overall cost. The staff is outgoing and works to satisfy. If you do not like the Vanderbilt, Auberge, see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

The property itself is fantastic, and the staff and facilities are top notch. Not a single complaint against the property. HOWEVER, before you book through expedia, check out the hotel website as they often have promotions which are far better and cheaper than the expedia rate. DO NOT rely on expedia to live up to their price match guarantee, they simply go to the fine print to tell you it is too bad.

It says everything about this property that even paying more by going through expedia, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely return, although I will book direct next time.

The room was too warm at night-only allowed to lower thermostat to 68. Disappointed on the $10 pp cover charge for the rooftop bar. I find that that to be a steep price and tacky for a hotel bar. I can understand if there was live entertainment but there was not. Terrible service at the restaurant for breakfast.

Loved the location and captains quarters room! Also, breakfast was amazing. Lots of nice touches like s’mores on a stick and cookies at bedtime. However, there were four of us in the room and we had to ask for four towels each day we were there. They also, only brought two cookies the first night and three the second night. At a nice hotel, it is my expectation that they know how many people are in the room and accommodate. They also didn’t replenish our shampoo, conditioner, soap or toilet paper....we ran out of all of those items, and had to request more! Didn’t make or break our trip, but will look to stay elsewhere upon our next visit.

Turn down services, indoor pool, valet services were all wonderful. So much attention to detail. The beds were very comfortable and sheets and pillows were so soft!

Will 100% come back to the Vanderbilt. From the second we arrived to the second we left the service was amazing. It is a quaint, older hotel with a ton of history. The rooms themselves were amazing as well. They even leave cookies in your room before bed. Also, the location is right in the middle of everything you want to be by. AMAZING experience, highly recommend.
