We found another hotel to stay at. There were several cockroach’s. There was no additional lock on the door only the code to the door the staff also had. Very noisy outside as well. Bathroom was good, beds were fine. The cockroach was on our bed and we asked staff to change sheets and they did not. Anyone can access the Gasthaus through the convenience store as well.

It was a positive experience but I had not been clear about the structure of the accommodations. The rooms are above a convenience store and you check-in at the store counter then walk up a back staircase to the rooms. Room was simple, clean, and comfortable. Free coffee at the convenience store.

The air conditioning didn’t work so I had to keep the door and window open, or it got hot and stuffy. The store downstairs was open 24/7 so people hung out and talked loudly until 2:00am. It was also where taxis pick people up. They would honk the horn when they arrived. Worst two nights of my stay in Switzerland!

On a side street where the streets can be confusing, but I did okay. Staff helpful. Reasonably walkable to old beautiful center of Prague, and the castle area across the river. Flat set rate 20 euros for taxi ride to main train station. Great breakfasts. I think parking is limited if you have a car. Less costly than many of the other options.

The hotel, communication, reception and service were good. But horrible was location of the room. It was on the 4th floor and there was no lift. Flying from Minneapolis to Paris and changing 4 trains my wife and I had to carry our luggage since there was no one to help climbing those steep stairs. This was very painful!

*NEVER AGAIN* Spend $ elsewhere.

Before leaving this following review I contacted the hotel but got not response.

- Room had questionable dirt/food/fecal smears on the walls.

⁃Hotel is not well marked so you should look small corner convenience store where you check in at the cashier and then led to a shady stairway. No elevator.
⁃Plug in AC did not blow out cold air. We couldn’t leave the window open for cool air because people were partying outside our window at a restaurant until very late.
⁃There were spiderwebs on the ceiling. We had bug bites upon departure.
⁃The cabinet doors were falling off their hinges.
⁃The refrigerator had a large chunk of ice on the shelf. The door had been left open for it to melt causing a puddle of water when we checked in.

Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $25 to stay elsewhere.

Property entrance is through convenience store, store cashier doubles as hotel attendant to check you in. There is no air conditioning just swamp cooler, property is above outdoor dining of a busy restaurant. It’s 10 minute walk from main train station which makes it convenient for no frills relatively inexpensive stay.

Don’t stay here if you can help it

When we arrived we entered in through a convenience store, which was fine though a little strange. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and garbage and there was a dirty towel in the bathroom. The room was very hot as well, and when we opened the window the street was very loud including traffic noise, partying, breaking glass, and fighting. All through the night we heard these noises, and we had to keep the window open because the room was so hot. I will never stay here again, and I don’t recommend anyone else does either. I’m sorry to the owners, I’m sure they are doing their best.

The picture and description of the property was misleading and it was oddly priced for the facilities. It was a hostel at best and shouldn’t be called a hotel, no check in desk, no reliable WiFi (couldn’t connect at all), packed room with barely room to walk. The check in was at the grocery stair downstairs .. I paid an absurdly high price (>$300) for this!

Cheapest option we found for a last minute booking in Zurich, about 10 minutes to the train station on an easy walk.

We checked in with a friendly staff member, which is actually located in a convenience store as the ground floor. He gave us the code to our room, located on the top floor (#51). Unfortunately there is no elevator. This had a roof top balcony overlooking the city which was quite nice!

Bed was comfy, bathroom and shower were clean, the room came with a portable AC unit to help at night. Honestly exceeded my expectations for the cheapest double room available in town. We were able to grab food around the area, lots of options.

Basic hotel at a reasonable price

This is a very reasonably priced hotel for Zurich but it is very basic and not well equipped, 1 mug, 1 large plate and 1 small plate - all for 2 people. The shower cabinet was missing part of a door so didn’t close the whole way and no where to hang wet towels. Also the bed is in a corner so one person has to climb in and out from the bottom. It is fine for a brief stay and the bedding was clean. On the plus side there is a 24 hour shop underneath so breakfast was on hand - fresh croissant and pastries.

I knew this was a budget option but even so…. Its some converted rooms above a 24 hour shop. Anyone can walk in and up the stairs to the rooms. Its a dodgy area and i reckon a cell at an open prison might feel more homely. Spend a little more and go somewhere safer. Zurich isnt that great so have a nice room to hang out in.

good budget friendly rooms in the heart of zurich and a 10 mins walk from the train station. the neighborhood has a very dynamic nightlife and is filled with restaurants, nightclubs and bars. it’s very fun to walk around in during the day but it’s not the most family-friendly area at night. a lot of drunk people hanging outside.

the entrance is through a convenience store (open 24h) and the hotel reception is at the cash register of said store. the rooms are definitely not the nicest and you can tell that it’s a budget option but they do the job for a couple nights and everything seemed clean.

IMPORTANT: there are 4 floors and no elevators so be prepared to go up the stairs with your luggage.

also definitely go try the kebab place next to the hotel!!! cheap and very good

Just needed a place to stay for one night in Zurich.
The place is located in a grocery shop which doesn't feel very nice.
The rooms are quite newly decorated and overall in good condition but there is a bit of a bad smell inside.
If you are really on a budget in this hipper expensive city and just need a night or 2, it can work, otherwise I'd skip it.

This is a budget hotel, there is a grocery store on the ground floor and entrance to the hotel is via the store. Staff were friendly and spoke english also the location is close to the railway station, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel has no lift but the room was a good size, it included a fridge, microwave and kettle. The room was en-suite with a clean bathroom. The room also had a TV and the bed was comfordable. I would stay here again if I ever return to Zurich

Its location is excellent; having a convenience store as its lobby comes in really handy. Being over 60, I wish it had an elevator; most of the TV channels did not work; and I named the tiny shower stall \"Beam me up, Mister Bubble\". But for the price, it does serve its purpose well.

Good location and I liked my room - nice size room with fridge microwave, a kettle etc. Main problem was the bathroom - shower doors didn't shut properly, leaving a hole water can get through. The shower drain seemed clogged so water would pool around my feet and then also escape through the non-closing doors. The shower itself is very small and difficult to move around in (I am 1.6m and skinny and I struggled) The toilet seat-lid combo was hanging loose by a thread of fastening and kept moving around, very dangerous.

Room was on the fourth floor with no elevator. Very small bathroom. Shower pan measures 3 ft. x 2.5 ft. Very difficult to get in if you are a heavy-set person. Room was missing television. Little attention was given to my complaint. Service desk personnel doubles as store clerk running grocery store on the ground floor. He is too busy. If you choose this hotel, you must be young or have a backpacker mentality.

Very friendly and helpful staff, easy to walk to from the train station. Unfortunately our room on the second floor faced the street, and looking at a McDonald’s that is open 24 hours. Add in the noise from the people on the street, the vehicles, police and ambulances, so it was no surprise that we didn’t get to sleep until 4am. If you book a room, be sure to ask for one that doesn’t face the street!

You check in at the convenience store downstairs. They're open 24 hours, which is nice. But it's weird.

Reasonable price. Close to the train station, and lots of restaurants near.

The neighborhood is weird. Locals told us it wasn't a good neighborhood, but it seemed fine. A few blocks away it got even kind of ritzy-business with nicer restaurants. But then a couple of blocks after that we were walking past prostitutes. Our family never felt unsafe, though, as we explored the surrounding areas.

The room was small but had nice beds and pillows. The blanket on the double bed wasn't big enough for my wife and I, but it was so hot while we stayed we didn't care much. I saw other reviews that there wasn't luggage storage. We had a set of cupboards for our luggage, but I also saw luggage in the hallway, so maybe that's not true for all rooms.

WIFI was free and good for high-speed access.

There's no AC: only fans. I'd guess normally that's enough, but it was so hot when we stayed that we needed to sleep with the windows open. The room was quiet with the windows closed, but from the second floor with them open there was often the smell of people smoking just outside, and noise all night: people talking or even yelling at each other, cars revving their engines for no reason, etc.

The place and our room were clean, but our room wasn't cleaned during our stay. Someone brought towels and emptied our trash, but nothing more.

The place is so very average if you just want to sleep after a tiring day. Not too much to expect with its price. Fair enough on what you paid for. Easy access to food and water, since the ground floor is a store.Don’t mind anymore the noise outside after a tiring day and all you want is too lie down and sleep. But a thumbs up to the staff, very considerate, helpful and nice. Just consider also going up to your floor without any elevator. Still the place is a thumbs up for me.

The room was OK, but getting into it was difficult. The receptionist/shopkeeper had to leave the shop to show me how to work the lock. The bathroom was nice and clean and the TV showed BBC, although with a weak signal. The main problem was that the central heating came on around 5am, and it was so loud that I couldn't sleep. Take earplugs.

We arrived late at night and we had to make the check in at the supermarket. We had to wait long time because the person gave priority to people from the supermarket and not from the hotel. Then, when we received the room we noticed that it was in floor #4, and there was NO lift! With luggage is uncomfortable

Overall it was a comfortable place to stay. It’s by the street with traffic but the window insulation was good. Room is comfortable and clean. The first floor was a convenient store and the hotel runs by the same owner. The store opens 24 hours so perfect for late check in and for people arrived late or need a bite to eat. It will make people feel better like they are staying in hotels like “quality inn” if they hang some art work on the wall. Everything is expensive in Switzerland. The price is good location is convenient with Coop and Macdonald’s are right across and many ethnic restaurants are all walking distance!

Simple yet large corner room with big windows that do open! Soft comfy bed with quality bedding. Room was on second floor with street view. Despite being on a busy street, when windows are closed the room is very quiet, got a good sleep. Many cafes, bars and shops are literally surrounding the building.
You enter and check in at the convenience store counter on the first floor, it's odd but don't let it put you off. Turns out to be convenient. It's open 24 hours so if you need anything you just walk down the stairs. Also free coffee prepared at the counter for guests. Good location, about 13 minutes walk from the Zurich HB.
Overall it was clean, simple and convenient. Also excellent high speed internet and satellite TV with lots of channels.

Great price, clean, and perfect kitchenette. Lots of great quick places to eat near by and minimarts for access to anything needed. Happened to find good parking overnight at the minimart around the corner for 8 CHF. The building was well marked from the front and side but we weren’t expecting to enter into a minimart, which is open 24/7 and the connection up to the rooms remains open. We were asked to pay upon arrival without having even been show the room, which surprised me. However, when I asked to see the room the hotel person and mini mart cashier happily obliged. The room was clean and had a fan, which was helpful given the hot temperatures. We would definitely stay here again when looking for an inexpensive option that is clean!

It's worth every euro, you paid!

Location is close to Main Train Station(7-10 Min walk). Frankly, it's related to your expectation. The hotel has a hostel price regarding Zurich. Entrance via a Supermarket and reception is counter, but genuinely helpful. Early check-in was not possible for me, but I left my bag in the supermarket backroom. I've stayed on the first floor - room 114. In general, room has a fan, mini-fridge(28% of it freezed-iced but enough), microwave, plate,glass etc... I didn't want to try microwave,or plate etc, because they weren't trustworthy about cleanliness. Bath was general ok, but needs some updates! Outside from window! Please consider and evaluate your expactation with your payment level. I am satisfied and happy with general helpfulness. Wi-fi was good.

Given how expensive Zurich is, this was the most reasonably priced hotel I could find that’s a short walk to the main station, included wifi and had a kitchenette with a fridge. It’s clean, well maintained and close to restaurants, bars and a few different grocery stores. The convenience store at the same location doubled as the hotel reception and while my friend told me it’s in a not so great part of town, I felt very safe walking the streets alone. Would stay there again.

Loud street but room was quiet after the windows were closed, no air-conditioning - but not an issue in end of Aug. Room had the refrigerator, microwave, plates and bowls, electric fan, TV. Hair dryer provided if required. No elevator. Free Wifi that worked fine. The room was cleaned everyday and the towels were changed every day. Free fruits in room and free coffee at entrance of store. Convenient 11 minute walk from the FlixBus/Tour Bus/Train station. Restaurants, Indian store nearby.

The location of the property is very good with closeness to the main station .The staff was very accommodating and they were willing to go the extra mile to help.There are no elevator in the property so you would end up dragging your luggage .There are few dinning options in front of the hotel itself including indian/asian and also a McDonalds right in front.
The location may get tricky during night time.

Not for light sleepers

The people were very nice, and the WiFi worked fine, but the room was tiny and lacked air-conditioning, and was sweltering hot in the Zurich summer. The street outside my window was loud all night long. There was no window fan to help drown the noise or cool the room. It was more or less impossible to sleep here, though this might have been different in the winter. Also, there was no elevator, and my room was four flights up from the street. The hotel offered no assistance porting luggage up or down.

There's no AC, so we had no choice but to open windows at night. It was so loud that we had probably the worst sleep of our lives. The restaurant next door was particularly loud when they were closing up, chaining up all of their outdoor tables and chairs. It would be a good place to stay when it's cool enough outside to keep windows closed and it's close to the train station so your transfer to the airport is half of what a cab would cost.

Located in a convenience store / not convenient

The hotel lobby is a convenience store. The hotel description and website never once mentioned this. My biggest problem was that that is no luggage storage, although the hotel description states there is. Rather, the hotel staff, whom spoke little English, said to leave my suitcase in the hallway of the convenience store and they would watch it. The safe in the room was broken and I told two people and no one fixed it. When I arrived it took about 20 minutes to check in, because they lost my reservation, although I booked weeks in advance, and upon solving the issue gave me a 5th floor room and no one would help me with my luggage. I guess for the price it should be fine, but as a solo female traveler it wasn’t exactly the warm welcome to Zurich I would have liked, although the rooms were quite warm.
