The room has everything that we need for shorter stay. Bath/toilet is in the smaller side, but quite functional (Japanese hotels are usually smaller).

Room was cleaned, bed made, and new towels provide daily.
Breakfast was in the main building which is only a few meters away. Many healthy choice for breakfast and my favourite is always the coffee machine.

Location, location, location!!! Across street from main train station Zurich AND Bus Station where all tours begin! Plus a reasonable cafe with delicious dinners next to Starbucks on the corner. We took the train to & from the airport and walked to Fred Hotel. Several trams stop right there also. Most convenient stay ever anywhere!

Guest house has not AC but there is a dyson fan available - we opened the windows & it cooled down quickly. The elevator is the smallest elevator I have seen- it is claustrophaubic, it only fits 3 people otherwise 1 person with luggages😊.

Interesting concept for checking in. No keys necessary. Just swipe the outer door key on your app and it opens. Swipe the room key on your app and it opens. Rooms are small but I was just looking for an overnight stay between trains and planes and the Fred Guest House was perfect. Only a two-minute walk to the train station and only a 10-15 minute walk to downtown Zurich. No frills but has everything you need for a short stay.

My room was in a separate building from the front desk. It was tricky for me to find - a map at the front desk would have helped me. Nevertheless the accommodation was clean and orderly. A big plus to me was that the hotel is within a block from the Zürich Hauptbahnhof. There are several good restaurants in the are.

Had a wonderful stay. We can’t open the door when we got to the hotel. A worker directed us to another building and given a bigger room ( no extra charge). This property is very convenient to the Main Train Station as well as the Bus Terminal. This results in quite a bit of pedestrian traffic in the area. We opted for the breakfast which is located at another Fred’s property a very short walk away. The breakfast was not dissimilar to a Hampton Inn and Suites breakfast in the US. No contact with any staff at Fred’s guest house, only on line interface. We know to expect this from reviews, it worked fine but takes getting used to. Accommodations such as the bathroom were small but adequate and we would stay here again under similar circumstances.

The thing we miss the most in the rooms was a lack of wash clothes for the shower there was a bit of confusion of where to find the main office when we arrived at the off-site house as we walked there direct from the train station and we're a bit confused and how to get the keys to the room other than that everything was fine

The Fred Guest House was a one-night stay so that we could be conveniently at the Zurich Bahnhof Train Station the next morning to conveniently take the train to the airport. As such, my wife and I chose an inexpensive (for Switzerland), no-frills hotel.
The check-in process was all electronic and done in advance. This should have been convenient, but there were odd issues with verifying my personal information and with the web page itself that required multiple attempts. Once checked in, we received an electronic key to be activated by phone off their web page. The absence of any physical key might be complicated for some, and even unlocking some doors required patience.
Our actual room was really tiny, with barely any space to lay anything out. There was no desk, only a small night stand on one side, and a small open cabinet at the corner. There was no air conditioning, though a floor fan was somewhat useful in providing circulation. Our room also faced the street, so we were able to cool the room by opening the window.
The bathroom was also tiny, with nowhere to really place any clothes or belongings. If we were staying for more than one night, this would have been a very frustrating place of lodging. But as it was only one night, we just made do.
I'd recommend this place for anyone trying to be as frugal as possible while staying in a central and convenient area. But the room itself is really quite constricted, and multiple days would be tough for many.

Right next to the main train station. The listing says it takes 7 minutes to the main train station but really it o my takes a turn around the corner. The 7 minutes is to the main terminal. Because of many other access points it is actually closer.

The staff were very friendly and helpful; every single one. The property is near the centre )10 min walk) and 5 min walk to the train station; lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Delicious breakfast for 15 Euros; well worth it. The only issue was the size of the rooms. They were extremely small (which we knew about) but it worked for us since we were there for one night.

The guest house operated based on digital keys assigned to your email on mobile phone, however you can request for physical card key as well. Staying with Fred was just what we needed for our city break, the room and location was always clean and tidy, no fuss or bother and the staff were ALL truly excellent and that goes for the reception team, breakfast crew even the cleaners were happy positive and were a joy to chat with. The location was excellent too being right next to the train and a perfect distance for walking.
