Exceeded my expectations in every way. Perfect place to explore the lakes. Pool has an amazing view. Staff are helpful. Only small point is the rooms are very light as there are no blackout curtains or blinds (not sure if this is all rooms) so if you are a light sleeper it might be an issue.

The hotel is superb.
The location is good, you can walk to Baveno and Stresa.
The whole hotel just feels very classy, the staff are extremely attentive and it's exceptionally well priced.
We cant work out why it's not a 5 star hotel.
We will certainly be coming back.

Big grand hotel, be aware of extra costs

It’s a big old grand hotel which has been well maintained. It is huge and links up to the neighbouring Hotel Dino via a 400m underground walkway. This is where you need to go if you want to use the gym, which is also huge and very well equipped, probably the largest hotel gym I’ve seen. Unfortunately you need to pay €12 a day to access it which is annoying when it says the hotel has a gym. Also, as is sadly becoming more common, breakfast is extra at a pricey €25 pp. Also parking is extra at €20 per day! (It should state this on the property details page when booking) So when you book a night as a couple at €200 thinking it’s a good deal for hotel, parking and gym it is actually going to cost you €282. For that reason I wouldn’t stay again (we didn’t pay for breakfast and just got yoghurt form the supermarket opposite).

Add ons were a bit expensive but nonetheless we had a great stay.

Luxurious property if you pay the price for a room with a view of the lake and pool. Sumptuous breakfast buffet. Beautiful pool with tunnel access to an indoor pool at a neighboring hotel. Bar a bit pricey. We had lunch once but better and less expensive food in town. Short walk to town. We enjoyed a few relaxing days after traveling for two months.

There's a very specific definition of luxury here—lots of shiny gold trim and loud floral prints. That lack of restraint isn't my taste, but the price is right and the location is incredible. Plus, the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the staff was warm and professional, and the amenities are top-notch. Access to the nearby Hotel Dino's amenities is a plus, especially since it has a lakefront pool. Both hotels are steps from the train station and the ferry terminal.

A wonderful stay

Every aspect of this hotel is outstanding! The staff are exceedingly helpful, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the grounds are beautiful. As we took no meals at the hotel, I cannot comment on this feature. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Lago Maggiore.

Overall a good stay at the Simplon. Very friendly service and a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Great to have access to the Dino hotel for sunbathing on the lake and a second restaurant. Baveno is a good destination for a long weekend away but any longer and you'd need to travel for distractions.

Stayed here for 3 days prior to starting a tour of northern italy. Welcomed by front desk and made to feel like a priority and shown to my room. I didnt have any expectations as a I got a very good deal and although I was put on the side adjacent to the road, my room had enough windows and shutters to make it work for me. The room was clean and comfortable, bathroom a little small. The restaurant was a little confusing with most people having what appeared to be board included. I ate one night but there are lots of options to walk to including a lovely cafe across the road. the pool and grounds were beautiful and baveno much quieter than stressa. Five minute walk to ferry and you can do all the islands. A lovely peaceful stay

Great location

Not on the lake but view is still very attractive. Quieter and more pleasant hotel than its sister, the Dino, to which it is connected by a corridor but the Dino bar has atmosphere where Simplon's has none. Easy stroll to the ferry boat terminal for access to the islands and gardens.

Fabulous hotel with beautiful lake view.

This hotel is a treat! Very upscale, a feast for the senses. Right on the lake, with a beautiful view, lovely pool, and connected to a sister hotel a block away by a tunnel filled with famous art. The staff is amazing, going above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable and satisfied. Nearby Stresa is just a bus stop away and filled with sights to see, wonderful shopping, and excellent wine and cheese shops.

Amazing part of the world, not a very good hotel.

The stay was wonderful. The hotel is fake old decorated and nothing really works: sockets pull out of the wall, the shawer splashes everywhere, the internet costs a lot of money and doesn't work very well.

Superb hotel with facilities of DINO next door

Staff could not have been more welcoming. Only downside was the cost of food in the hotel. However opposite is a really good reasonably priced restaurant. Otherwise we preferred our short stay in Stresa to Baveno.
If travelling by public transport we found the train difficult going to Stresa. Returning from Baveno we used the bus, booked by the receptionist at The Simplon. This was only 12 Euros dropping us off at Malpensa T2 Promtly

Hotel Simplon far exceeded our expectations. Everything about the hotel is first class. The decor is classy. Our room was fantastic. It has old world elegance but with all the modern conveniences. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and helpful. The front desk had all the boat, bus and train schedules to make excursion planning a breeze. The pool area was immaculate. We loved Baveno. We thought Stresa would be too touristy and we were right. You can make all the island connections and catch the train to Switzerland right from Baveno. There are enough restaurants for diversity for a stay of several days.

Hotel Simplon - great staff.

Hotel location is good for accessing the boat departure point and shore side restaurants, and the garden and pool area is lovely.

We had a lake side view junior suite and it was lovely, well furnished and comfortable and a nice bathroom with a good shower and nice fluffy towels and bathrobes.

Unfortunately on our first night there my husband was taken ill and we needed a doctor twice in the night and he had to go to hospital in Verbania the following morning. I cant praise the hotel staff enough for their help and support through this - they were very helpful and concerned and helped with translation with the doctor. They also found a taxi driver who took us to the hospital and stayed with us to help with translation and showing us where to go etc - we could not have managed without him.

Fortunately the trip to hospital sorted things out and we went on to have a great time at the Hotel Simplon

If only it were in Stresa

Cannot fault this hotel for much: the cleanliness and friendly staff were beyond reproach. We were room only , hence our room was on the ground floor with no lake view but no complaints as you get what you pay for. Great pool with plenty of shaded areas.Had breakfast a few times at 15 euros per person (not the 20 euros as stated on their web page) not exactly a bargain but convenient for a few organised trips. On most days walked down the hill to a wee place named \" Coffee Time \" which I would thoroughly recommend. Two teas/coffee, freshly squashed orange, 4 croissants for 12 euros in total as opposed to 30 euros at the hotel. Perhaps not everyones idea of breakfast but it got you ' fuelled up' for the day ahead.
Overall a great time at a lovely hotel. If it could be transferred to Stresa it would be even better.
Best restaurant we ate at was the Posta in the small square. The worst was the Nationale to the right of the square. A disorganised shambles is the best way I can describe it. You can only pay by cash as they have no credit card facility. The receipt you get is akin to the old slip from the Co-op : a list of costs for the various foods you ate but that was it. No breakdown of what you actually had .
Without sounding patronising , elderly people who have difficulty retaining what they have had will not be able to comprehend this unacceptable practice in this day and age. It was like a 1950s diner. Not recommended.

Das Hotelzimmer war genauso wie wir es uns vorgestellt hatten. Zum Abendessen sind wir ins Hotel Restaurant gegangen. Das war leider eine sehr große Enttäuschung- Preis / Leistung stimmen gar nicht. Tiefgefrorener Fisch für 30€, Pasta mit Tomatensauce aus der Tüte für die Kinder für 13€. Leider sehr enttäuschend

Me and my wife had a fantastic stay at Hotel Simplon by Lago Maggiore. Very nice staff and manager at the desk; smiling and attentive. We got a great room with sea view. Impeccable cleaning! Clea pool, no hassle with getting a space. Very green and lush garden. Tranquility. Nice poolbar and serveral areas for sitting 7 reading / having a dring (upper terrace; lower teracce; pool bar area; garden etc). Fantastic hotel bar and bartender! Everything you need at breakfast. Just to know on beforehand: there is no direct lake contact from Hotel Simplon then you have to use the sister hotel Grand Hotel Dino (can be reached with the private 200 m underground tunnel between the hotels). Note that the Hotel gym is very big and well equipped but cost Euro 12 every time you visit (no problem if you know it for your travel budget). Parking was very convenient inside the hotel area but remember it will cost Euro 20 for every night you have it parked there. We loved our stay.

Eravamo già stati nell’Hotel l’anno scorso nello stesso periodo. Ci hanno assegnato la stessa camera upgraded e abbiamo apprezzato. Ci piacciono l’eleganza, gli ampi spazi, la splendida piscina e il servizio eccellente. Rispetto all’anno scorso si è perso il benefit del parcheggio gratuito .. ora è a pagamento diretto con sbarra (20 € giorno). Se si muove spesso la macchina si finisce per pagare molto più del fee giornaliero. Clientela prevalentemente internazionale data la località a un passo da Stresa e Isolabella. Si mangia molto bene in albergo e c’è comunque ampia scelta di buoni ristoranti nei dintorni. Molto soddisfatti .. torneremo.

Normaal verblijven we in grand hotel dino maar deze keer wouden we simplon ook eens een kans geven. Personeel is heel vriendelijk! We hebben een duplex kamer gekregen maar deze stonk door de airco. Heel muf. De airco werkte ook niet zo goed. Gelukkig was het maar voor 2 nachten dus we hebben het zo gelaten. Het zwembad is ijskoud. We zijn elke dag naar het zwembad in grand hotel dino geweest. Daar was het warmer en als gast van simplon mag je ook de zwembaden van dino gebruiken. Het ontbijt was niet zo uitgebreid als in grand hotel dino maar wel dezelfde prijs. We hadden gevraagd of we daar mochten gaan ontbijten maar dit kon niet. Ik begrijp het prijsverschil tussen beide hotels.

Nous avons échappé à la chambre économique au rez-de-chaussée, un surclassement nous attendait avec une chambre au dernier étage vue extraordinaire sur le lac

2 giorni sul lago Maggiore.

L'hotel si presenta molto bene con materassi validi e buona pulizia. Munito di piscina esterna con idromassaggio. Nel mio caso le critiche vanno al bagno con alcune posizionamenti infelici ( vaso wc posto tra il fianco della vasca e il muro con poco spazio a destra e sinistra, porta rotolo carta igienica di scorta su cui ci batteva la gamba destra e il porta spazzolino del wc in fondo alla vasca a circa 2 metri dal vaso. Non mi era mai capitato, nonostante la mia età non più giovanile e quindi di aver frequentato vari hotel, di vedermi presentare nel conto ( anche se facoltativa ) una percentuale e quindi una somma quale mancia per il personale di servizio. Con mia moglie non ce lo aspettavamo. Le mance, almeno secondo noi, devono essere spontanee del cliente e non richieste dal personale nero su bianco. Ci siamo rimasti molto male!!!

Geweldig hotel

Geweldig hotel. Eten is duur en niet bijzonder. Auto parkeren kost 19 euro per dag. Ontbijt 25 euro pp.
Mooi sfeervol hotel. Goede kamer

Fonctionnel mais pas charmant

Un joli centre de convention. Pas si romantique. Nous avons juste dormi la bas, les chambres un peu petite. Le resto était complet. La piscine agréable mais il faut trouver de la place. Bien placé.
