I stayed at Ala Moana Hotel by LSI Resorts and my main issue was the pricing transparency when booking through Expedia. The listing advertised the room at about $79 per night, which sounded like a great deal for Honolulu. However, after completing the reservation, the total ended up being $779 for four nights, even though the room itself should have been around $316 at the advertised rate.

The listing also mentioned a $100 per night deposit, which made it seem like the higher total included a refundable deposit. I even contacted the hotel operator beforehand and was told that deposit policy actually applies only to their Las Vegas property. When I contacted Expedia support, the representative reassured me that the deposit would be refunded after checkout.

After booking, I later learned that the deposit is actually paid at the property, meaning the large total on Expedia was mostly made up of taxes and service fees rather than the deposit described in the listing. This created a lot of confusion and made the pricing feel misleading.

To be fair, the location of the hotel is very good, especially if you want to be near Ala Moana Center and not directly in the busiest part of Waikiki. The room itself was simple but acceptable for a short stay.

Overall, my experience would have been much better if the pricing and deposit information were clearly explained upfront. Travelers should pay close attention to the total price and fees before booking.

Privately owned unit. No housekeeping but we didn’t need it anyway. We brought a couple trash bags and there was plenty of towels available. Ala Moana shopping mall 5 min walking distance and had so many places to eat. So So So Happy with everything. Mahalo 🌺🌴❤️🌺🌴❤️

Flew in for a day to attend a funeral of a friend. Ala Moana hotel has 2 sections, the hotel rooms & the Airbnb (privately owned rooms). I stayed in the Airbnb privately owned rooms. Used valet to park my rental & the staff was super nice & friendly. It was centralized & super close to the mall. Convenient to walk over to the mall & grab a bite & shop a bit. Ala Moana beach park is of walking distance but don’t lug too much stuff with you. It’s good to have a good walking exercise there. Front desk staff was friendly & nice. The bathroom in the unit is a little dated & needs to be updated & changed. This is my 2nd time staying here in the Airbnb rooms & I’m satisfied with it especially if it’s a quick trip.

Disappointed-Hotel managed by LSI resorts

First of all, Ala Moana Hotel is a perfect location - conveniently located next to the mall with tons of options for eating and shopping. Facilities were great; gym met our needs, valet staff were always friendly and front desk were very helpful. I've stayed at this hotel last year (November 2024) and was very impressed with the Hotel services so decided to book again on this visit with my husband.

HOWEVER be aware when booking, a portion of the Hotel (Kona Tower) is managed by LSI resorts. And these rooms are marketed at a lower price for a reason. There were many issues with our room; bulb was out in the bathroom, tub was clogged so it did not drain quickly, microwave had a few cracks inside (safety issue), fire alarm was constantly beeping and the pull-out sofa bed was stained. All complaints must be thru the management company and NOT with the Hotel front desk services. The company is not available 24hrs, in-fact is not even on Hawaii time. If a complaint is made, it will take 1-2 days for a response to have someone take a look at the issues then must schedule another visit to address the issues.

Needless to say, we checked out early and will be sure our next visit is definitely NOT with LSI resorts.

Room booked was a terrible mirage or scam

Let me qualify this rating. When I booked \"Ala Moana Hotel by LSI Resorts\", I thought I was booking a room at Ala Moana (parent company LSI Resort). It was actually the opposite, this room is not part of Ala Moana Hotel, it is owned (AirBNB like) by LSI. Meaning maintenance and servicing is not done by Ala Moana, basically NO maintenance or service. Seven days in beautiful, hot and humid Honolulu, you can imagine the room, sheets and towel conditions; add to broken bathroom fixtures. The Ala Moana tried to help, front desk called a number on file for LSI, which connected me to a rude person who says he did maintenance, once I mentioned what's broken he basically hung up. Five Stars to Ala Moana staff for helping (soap and coffee, not towels since they were different). Next time I'll book directly, Hotels.com showed no difference in the listings, which was misleading. I feel most sorry for the housekeeper who cleaned up after us - so sorry.

Good idea to remember your reservation is managed privately so you will not get the amenities of the hotel. Make sure you buy your own extras to prevent any additional charges. example buy more toilet paper and your own towels.

Two pillows only for two people.
Bathroom was disgusting. It was for handicapped. When you took a shower the water didn’t drain and was all over the floor in the bathroom.
They didn’t supply even one plate or bowl.
No extra blanket.
Truly the worst. I’ll be sharing that with anyone who asks.

I was very disappointed because as shown in expedia it seems that you are booking in Ala Moana Hotel, the reality is that it a separate building, that at first appearance looks great but when you get to the room, it is dirty, musty, not renovated at all, you have chair/bed for a second person, with no sheets, the worse of it is that staff never responded again. So I felt stuck there.

we stayed in the kona tower, this was first time booking at at this hotel, the room was ok. nothing great , outdated carpets, bathroom had no exhaust fan if it did it didnt work. when we first arrived the bathroom had a fair amount of water on the floor and along the tub. every morning around 5 am we were woken up by the the trucks below us as this unit was located at the back of hotel where all service vehicles come and go. because it is a private unit and not run by mantra you are limited to towels and must pay for more by calling the number in vegas. the hotel itself os in great location easy to walk to mall and beaches close by transit was close . if i was to come back i would book through the Mantra side of the hotel

The host has their cleaner only just finish what they called cleaning 2 min after we arrived at the room we had to wait outside in the hallway to only get in and find hair on the towels I made a complaint about this and then I decided to check the sheets and they also had black hair on them bed was so uncomfortable we woke up with sore neck and back everyday it was horrible I made another complaint about the sheets and they accused us of laying in the bed when we literally just got there dying to have a shower and had to wait for the cleaner to go downstairs wash the towels and sheets again because they didn’t have a spare set of towels or sheets to give us this was such a bad way to start a vaycay I had to go to target and buy my own towels just so we can have showers after a 10 hour flight I asked for a one night refund on our stay which I think was reasonable and I’m yet to hear back from them still I called them that many times and no one would get back to me it’s ridiculous will never book through LSI resorts again I’ll stick to booking directly through the hotel with better services and cleanliness

Leaking water and broken door hinge

Our stay had made it pretty bad experience for us to visit Hawaii. We got a private room and was not aware it is a private Airbnb separately from the hotel at Ala Moana Hitel. Our room had leaking water all over the front door from the fridge, along with a broken door hinge we couldn’t open or closed the main door. I went to get a new room but we could not, the hotel reception send us to these RSI private owner, we did not have any choice. We went back to the room, they came and fixed the door but did not even look at the fridge. We cleaned up the floor ourself, we think it’s the fridge from thawing out. The next day we ran out of toilet papers, they did not leave extra toilet paper for our 6 days stay. I’ve never booked a place where toilet paper is not provided. I again called RSI people and they said they charge $50 for service fee on top of towels fees and toilet paper is $1.50 each roll, I called hotels.com and ask if we can get a new room but nothing was done except a $250 credit to my account. We stay our 6nights. We will never book with these private owner, terrible!! Both me and my husband called and ask for management but nothing was escalated and not ever a phone call back. Our room is 2015 with Ala Moana Hotel, don’t book this room at this hotel.

Don't book thru LSI

This tired room needed a fresh coat of paint and a rug shampoo. The shower curtain was dirty and not properly hung. The toilet paper holder was halfway off the wall and the paper kept falling off. The bathroom door didn't stay shut. There was one tiny tube of bath gel for three people for 8 days. There was no liner for the ice bucket and not even a matched set of glasses (except for two useless champagne flutes). There weren't all that many plugs available for cell phones, etc., and the plug on the table lamp didn't take a charge. We had problems with the tub, which didn't drain one night (we had to bail it out with the garbage can in order to take showers) and the toilet got plugged another night. The phone number provided by LSI wasn't answered, not even the emergency option #3. Luckily, the Ala Moana hotel manager supplied another number that did get answered, but that person was in Las Vegas. Tho friendly, she wasn't able to do anything to help us after hours. There is not 24/7 service for LSI. A plumber did arrive unannounced the following day to fix the tub, and a very unfriendly person (definitely not a plumber) came with a plunger to clear the toilet the following morning. We didn't know when/or if anyone would show up. Not my idea of customer service.
The beds were comfy, and the view from the lanai was nice, but hard to screw those things up. Too bad, since this is such a great location. We've been to this hotel many times.

The Property in as of itself is Great!! All the staff and amenities were great. The problem I had with this reservation was the room I was in. I did not realize (my mistake) that the \"by LSI\" part was a privately owned room within the hotel complex. I had previously stayed at the Ala Moana Hotel and loved it. I jumped at the chance to stay here again at a much better rate. The problem was with the room I was assigned at check-in. When I entered the room there was a distinctive \"musty or moldy\" smell, some of the lights didn't work and I couldn't plug in my phone charger in the power outlets. The plug kept falling out or didn't work. I tried opening the window to air it out but the smell didn't go away. After about 30 mins I started getting a headache. I went down to the front desk asking to change rooms and they I needed to contact LSI, which is in Las Vegas. After several calls I was very fortunate to switch rooms. Had I not been able to I would have lost out my monies since I prepaid for the lower rate.

I wont do that again!

Do not ever reserve LSI @ Ala Moana hotel. This is not a review of Ala Moana hotel. But of the rip off company LSI that rents privately owned condos w/i the hotel. I prepaid for a superior room that was supposed to have 1 queen bed or 2 double beds. There was 1 double bed. Ut was 100 sqft smaller than advertised, it had a handicapped accible bethroom that had 2 open drain inthe floor, which would become very wet after we showeted. There was no bathmat, no luggage rack, moldy coffee machine, 1 tiiny bar of soap, no table in the room, no housekeeping for 3 days, AND no way to complain. I paid $300/nite for this dump..no way was this a superior room. I spent 30 minutes with hotels.com trying to fix it, tgry said nothing could be done.
DO NOT BOOK WITH LSI, YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF WITH NO HUMAN TO TALK TO

LSI rooms are not the same as the actual motel.

First... Ala Moana by Mantra is so much better than LSI.
Battery was dead on card key door lock, only 2 of the 4 lights in room worked. Room needs a deep cleaning, musty smell, fruit flies, lots of dust, stained rug, black mold in corners and ceiling by AC. Only one coffee cup, one drink glass, no soap dish, broken/wiggly toilet seat. Will not book LSI room again. LSI is a small management company for privately owned rooms, separate from the actual hotel property. We stay at Ala Moana at least 20 nights a year.

I had no idea this was not the hotel and I will never reserve this way again. Even when checking in you are treated differently. I found trash inside one of the cabinets and carpets looked dirty. Bathroom outdated and had a leak. Not having room service and only being able to reach someone at certain hours is not what you want when staying at a hotel.

This property is a condotel and there are many different individual unit owners and property managers. My particular hotel unit is managed by LSI and did not come with any maid service or any kind of upkeep during my two week stay. The hotel front desk was sure to bring this to my attention as to not confuse my stay with the hotel staff. It was just myself and I’m pretty clean so it wasn’t a big issue, but for some people it may be.
The location is next to one of the largest shopping centers on the island making it very convenient for shopping, groceries and restaurant dining. It’s also just a short walk to the Ala Moana Beach park for swimming or just relaxing on the sandy beach. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but next time I’ll choose a unit with hotel maid services.

This should be a low rating, during the reservation and after, there was NO NOTICE that we reserved a condo inside a hotel. There was no daily cleaning of room and we had to pay an extremely high price to get our room cleaned and serviced. I booked thru Expedia and upon arrival they couldn't find my booking.

I had a lot of errands to run so I left and came back often before check in and out of the 3 times I asked they COULD NOT FIND MY BOOKING.

I also asked months ahead of time to change my King bed to 2 Queen beds and they completely forgot and couldn't accommodate when I arrived.

Also they threw me in an accessibility room, where the bathroom flooded and water got everywhere the entire time.

I'd have a hard time staying in Pensacola (where I live) for what I paid per night at the Ala Moana. Hotel staff were friendly, efficient, and professional. Hotel room wasn't very large, but then . . . I wasn't there very long and pretty much used it just to sleep. Iron and ironing board worked fine. Used fridge to store cold drinks; didn't use microwave. Good shower pressure; hot was plenty hot. Good stay and I'd stay here again!

Beware the LSI managed rooms at Ala Moana Hotel.

We stay at the Ala Moana Hotel a over a dozen times a year. Everything has been great in the past, the last trip was not. When we arrived on one of our Doctors appointment day we discovered we were booked in a room managed by LSI and informed of the 3pm check in 'rule'. No problem, left our bag with the bell desk and went to our appointments. After returning and checking in we had our first disappointing stay with Ala Moana hotel, room was musky, noisy aircon, dimmest lights in bathroom and room were frankly hazards to safety and to dim to read by. We still prefer the hotel but will make sure its a Mantra room not LSI in the future.

1. I didn't have any service that wasn't asked for during on-line reservation. Finally when I said I'll pay for changing my linen but how much, but they decided to come in anyway.
2. My room did not have a safe or anyplace to secure valuables, and they came my room when I had cash, computer, and personal items unsecured.
3. I always keep a \"DO NOT DISTURB\" sign on my door at all times, unless I'm expecting something.
4. Refrigerator needs to be defrosted as the ice in the freezer seems to be preventing the door from closing properly.
5. my initial communication with them was what they provided and they responded with a 702 area code number, so I maintained further communication with that number until I asked for linen, then NO RESPONSES?

My huge issue is somebody came into my room without my permission and I had a \"DO NOT DISTURB\" sign on my door.
The hotel hallway camera is just above my room so I'm sure they can find out WHO came into my room and changed the door lock code?? My key was still valid as it still allowed me elevator access to my room. Why would they change the door lock code? I also notice housekeeping closing doors as they clean other rooms???

I don't know what was missing or how much money was missing?

Beware of rooms not owned by the hotel

This is a room at the Ala Moana hotel but it is not managed by the hotel. I’ve stayed there many times and the hotel is great! But this room was dirty , there was some lipstick on the bathtub , food from the previous guest was not removed from the refrigerator and the couch looked dirty. There are coats for cleaning, make sure you are booking with the hotel and not a property owned by a company at the hotel .

Upon entering our room we noticed bugs around the microwave & crawling around the cracks near the wall couldn’t get a new room until the next day but they were gonna have to charge additional $90 for exciting cleaning charge. Also didn’t like having to ask for toilet paper,sheets, towels & trying to find an empty trash bin in lobby to throw our room trash out because that wasn’t included in our stay since the room they gave us was privately owned. Which meant that housekeeping couldn’t do anything for us we had to call a number & still never got toilet paper for the nine days we stayed. We just bought some from target got tired of them saying anything extra was an additional charge like the towels. I guess they thought two towels was enough & asking for more was asking for extra.

LSI tricked you into believing their rates are low. With all the additional charges that are almost hidden to the eyes, they charge twice more than you would normally pay at the front desk. Expedia you are also responsible for their misleading prices. Also, I never checked in because the dates I selected were not given correctly. I requested booking starting from the 26th to 28th, the confirmation given was 27th to 28th. When i tried to change it their 3 offices in different states weren't opened yet. When i went on chat and asked for cancelation but was told refund was not guaranteed. Not happy at all and wouldn't recommend buy with LSI.

I did not stay because tgecroim was not clean and was full of garbage. The beds had dirty sheets. I requested a king they gave me 2 twins. The manager told mevthevroom was not the responsibility of the hotel. It was was the worst experience ever. We stayed in the lobby all night and we checked in a nice hotel the next day.

Additional charges $85/day to get your room cleaned. $22 for new towels. Bathroom was poorly cleaned - torn shower curtain, mold on bathroom wall tile, bathtub, and shower curtain liner. Complimentary coffee was all decaf and condiments were so old. Floors were dirty and felt gross to walk on.
Couldn't use closet to store our luggage because the broken ironing board could not be closed.

Ocean view was only if you stood on the balcony and looked between 2 tall buikdings. Room was not advertised as for handicapped and thus, no tub. Sink area tiny. Hotel refused to change the room because it was not under their control which also made housekeeping unavailable so we could not ask for extra towels or blankets. Bed was uncomfortable. We left 1 day early due to the most horrendous hotel stay we have ever experienced.

Our check in was seamless . The staff was friendly and helpful . We had a clean , comfortable room . We loved the gym there and worked out daily . I loved the close proximity to Ala Moana mall and Waikiki without having to be in the hustle of Waikiki. Will stay here again .

Our stay was quite comfortable. The huge issue was about supplies: 2 rolls of tissue paper, 4 tiny bottles of shampoo/conditioner, 4 tiny bars of soap. All these gone in a week for a couple. I emailed to ask if they’ll give more, no reply whatsoever. Stayed for 15 days. We bought everything else we needed. Not even complimentary bottles of water.

Read the fine print before you book!

This place — more specifically, the room itself— was awful! Generally speaking, the hotel itself was pretty nice. It’s one of the oldest hotels on the island, but it’s still pretty nice. However, the room that was booked from the site WAS JUST AWFUL! Whatever you do: Read the fine print!

What do I mean by that? Well, a number of the rooms that are booked from this site (sorry, hotels.com) go through some “timeshare” type ownership called LSI Management. What does that mean? That means that if the room your booking goes through that LSI thing, your room has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel you’re in! So, even though your room is obviously physically located IN the Ala Moana hotel, its actually owned by someone else, and you will get zero service from the hotel! So… need your room cleaned? Sorry. Need some extra towels? Nope. Ran out of toilet paper? Too bad.

Clearly, we should have read the fine print more carefully. We’ve booked dozens and dozens of hotels! Lesson definitely learned, but be careful with this place. At least insofar as the rooms go.

Save your money and book with the hotel directly!

The room needs an update. It is on a floor that does not at all feel like Ala Moana, and the room solidified that it is NOT an Ala Moana Hotel stay.

You can tell the cleaning service was rushed and not up to par with the hotel cleaning as this owner uses a contracted company to clean (I'm assuming). Streak marks on reflective surfaces were present, residue from cleaning materials or spilled liquid on the mini fridge door, crumbs on the carpet in front of the dresser, and an alarm clock that was not plugged in at all helped to make this experience feel bootleg.The microwave looks like it was made at least 10 years ago.

The price of cleaning was included in the booking, so I expected a clean room and did not get one. Stains are present on the wall and you can see that the toilet was recently replaced, but no effort to adjust the flooring to make it less evident. Changes to the booking are also impossible, which is another reason why I would never book this room or with LSI again.

I’ve stayed at this property multiple times because it’s in a great location just across from the big shopping center, transportation hub for bus/trolley routes.

This particular unit was wheelchair accessible, only one bed, two chairs inside but no table, and while conveniently located diagonally off the elevators, it can be a little “busy”. No tub, shower only.

All the extra costs...

I was not happy with the fact I had to pay for service or anything I wanted with the room as an extra amenity. I could have booked directly with the property and stayed with the same hotel at the same rate and received all the amenities with no extra cost. I will not be booking with LSI Resorts again.
