The Worst Hotel Experience Ever: Oasis Waikiki Hotel

I need to be completely transparent with everyone about my experience at the Oasis Waikiki Hotel—it’s genuinely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. To say this place lacks basic amenities would be an understatement.

First off, the description you see on Equifax is entirely misleading. There is no furniture on the balcony, and the room itself is outdated, dirty, and rusted. The lighting is a joke; the lights flicker constantly, making it feel like a scene from a horror movie! The shower head is stuck facing downward, and despite my efforts, the adjustment knob is completely unmovable.

Be aware, the room does not come equipped with a refrigerator or microwave unless you specifically request them, which feels inconvenient and irritating. To make matters worse, I noticed tiny bugs scattered throughout the space. This hotel's decor and amenities scream \"outdated.\" Make sure to bring your own chargers since there are no USB ports available in the outlets.

As for breakfast? They offer a sad selection of bread, cereal, and pre-packaged cups of fruit that resemble toddler servings from Sam’s Club—definitely not fresh!

Do not be fooled by the glossy images on their website; they are far from reality. If you are visiting Hawaii on a budget, this might seem like a good option, but prepare to be nickel-and-dimed on everything! For instance, they charge $45 per night for parking—outrageous. Instead, park at the Hyatt nearby

The staff was super friendly and excellent. The location was pretty great, though the view off of our balcony of a parking lot wasn’t super desirable. We got a room with a kitchenette, it was not well appointed. Again, the staff was excellent, but the place in general seemed just a little bit rundown.

The staff was very nice. The plumbing was bad. The toilet did not flush well, and the sink did not drain well. They brought us towels when we asked for them and took away our trash when we saw someone in the hall collecting it. The room was supposed to be cleaned every 3 days. We were there 6 days and no one ever came.

The photos on Expedia were very misleading, room is older and in rougher shape then shown. The room also had a very musty smell. When we asked to switch rooms thinking it may have just been that room, we were told by the gentleman working that they were sold out for the night and would try and do something the next day. We never heard back. On a positive note breakfast was great and the front desk lady Aaliyah (I think that’s how it’s spelled) had great customer service and was always in a good mood.

Friendly staff and the valet parking was excellent. Unfortunately, the room and services didn’t match what was advertised: photos looked much better online, housekeeping wasn’t daily (only once during our 6-night stay), breakfast was very limited, and the room had odor/cleanliness issues (dirty curtains, stained sheets, worn furniture, ants). Because of that, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The staff was courteous and helpful with every thing needed. They took our bags early before we could check in to our room so we could wander around the area.
The room itself was fine- a big garden tub with a King bed. Patio also. It was clean - but I would have cleaned more on the light switches and walls… it was just older and a lot of painted over things, but we appreciated the area

I asked for my room to be cleaned beds made on the 2nd day and they said they will have someone do it and no one came they told me the request was not entered its not enjoyable to return after a long day and bed not made

The accommodations aren’t the newest or the fanciest, but you get great value and friendly service. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and full if aloha. I love the location. I was right in the mix in Waikiki and had a lot of fun. The staff was kind enough to help arrange a cab when my departure was during the marathon which complicated things, but they were able to sort it out. I would definitely stay there again.

I was surprised because there was added payment of $84.00 upon check , the staff told me that was for breakfast, WiFi , towels etc.
When I made the reservation 3 month ago there was no information about that. It was only said free continental breakfast. The information was very misleading. Wasn’t happy about the $84.00.

Staff were really helpful, kind and supportive, they happily would provide more coffee and towels when needed and helped us out with the washing machines!

However the rooms are only cleaned every 3 days which was a bit frustrating, our room was on the 10th floor and was tidy and clean however you could hear the people above in the Pent House thumping around at all hours of the night, the beds were small and not really big enough for two people, as they leaned to one side and you could constantly here a loud humming sound - all of this made it difficult to sleep! The bathroom was tidy but there was a bit of mould and the shower pressure not so great. There is also minimal spare plug outlets in the room! Overall a good option if you are on more of a budget! Close to beach and amenities

The amenity was refunded back to me after I demanded it to be returned the continental breakfast they gave was terrible coffee was not hot pastries were boxed pre packaged not fresh only offered oranges apples no bananas housekeeping was once a week not daily getting into the shower shower was like climbing Mt Everest it was so sunken deep very dangerous to get out of and their swimming pool was not to be described as in it was the size of a small bathtub.

We enjoyed our stay and would book again if we get a chance to go back to Waikiki. While a hotel on the beach would be lovely, Oasis is a wonderful option for those on a tighter budget. The staff is friendly and insightful. The koi and turtle pond is very relaxing. The adjacent restaurant has excellent food at a much more reasonable price than other locales. The hotel is about a 10 min walk to the beach (but recommend going at least once via either the Hilton or Royal Hawaiian hotels). Equally importantly, it is only 1 to 2 blocks away from a bus stop. Map apps give excellent insight. We never went wrong. We took buses from/to the airport and Chinatown. $3 each way ($1.50 senior rate). Get a daily pass if doing more than 2 rides in a day.

The property is ok for 1 night of stay. It is very small. No lobby or driveway to properly park your car and get your things out of the car. Valet parking option only and it’s $45/day. Very inconvenient. QR codes are not working. Our room looks old and AC is broken.

The shower head was broken, it was useable, but I didn’t expect to take one handed showers. The shower mat also had some black spots on it? The front desk was preoccupied on their phone and didn’t seem to communicate with the rest of the staff. The place was clean but an over all 6-1/2 out of 10 for us.

Good location, close to the main shopping, dining and bus stop. Very nice and friendly staff. On a negative side: property is very dated, room is clean but has that musty smell when you enter, continental breakfast is very sad. On our first day we had only coffee, bread and cereal. On consecutive days they added some yogurt and some pastries. 10 min waking distance to beach - for me it was quite unusual, but walk is not that bad because you can do some “window shopping” at the same time (the most expensive stores located on your way to the beach). Parking is $45 a night which was quite a shock for me, but we did not have a car. Room service is ones in 3 days, which was quite unusual as well. Overall is not bad, considering how expensive in generally everything is in Hawaii.

The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Loved the bed, we slept so well. Staff is fabulous! Having a nice light breakfast available in the early morning was a great way to start our day. It is walking distance to the beach and many shops and restaurants nearby. It was a great location for a few nights stay ahead of a cruise departure.
