Our one week stay at the Laylow was memorable for both its quality and comfort. The front desk was staffed at all times by smiling and helpful staff and its restaurant and bar serviced by some of the friendliest my wife and I have ever experienced in our travels. I can name a few - Shawn checked us in with a thorough orientation, Nicole in the restaurant made sure our coffee was frequently topped at breakfast, and was happy to offer help with our days' plans. The fellows at the bar, Taylor, Aaron, Alvin, Jeremy & Carson served up great cocktails and local beers with personable flair for making us feel right at home. Truly a delightful experience, that was above the standard.
The room was top quality, spotlessly clean and maintained daily, a comfortable bed the perfect height from the floor, and pretty decor issuing an island vibe. We had great views toward eastern Waikiki, enjoying some time on the balcony between jaunts to the beach, which was only a ten minute stroll away. We've made a half dozen trips through the Hawaiian chain and this was the first enjoying only the busy urban charm of Waikiki. With this fine hotel located at its centre we were well satisfied by the experience and would recommend the Laylow to all ages, from solos to families for a great stay. Bravo team!!

Room had a balcony, as promised, but it was on a dark back alley up against a parking garage, with a kitchen exhaust fan under it that let out greasy smoke - not usable, and that felt like a rip off. I regretted choosing the Laylow and won’t go back.

It was easy to quickly regret this choice of stay. I haven't felt so uncomfortable in a hotel in years. Really wish we could've switched to another hotel mid way. Firstly, the hotel entrance and appearance fell so short. The carpets were absolutely disgusting and had bad odors. They need to be ripped up and put hardwood flooring down especially since its a warm climate location. The whole hotel lighting was dark, even our room. I called it a cave. It was always dark and damp in there. They provided a few tiny lamps that did nothing for the room especially since its right up against a parking garage so no natural sunlight comes through. Secondly, they had plumbing issues that cut off the water for 3 days which was a huge inconvenience and unheard of. I never experienced that ever in 30yrs of staying at hotel. Thirdly, there was absolutely no place for guests to lounge, they have 1 restaurant and to lounge they're you had to make a reservation for dining. There were very little options on the menu for people who don't eat pork or beef so we ended up going somewhere else for meals. Nothing about this hotel was convenient! I would never recommend. I just wish we choose somewhere else! It somewhat ruined my mother's first experience in Hawaii. The only good thing was the staff.

The staff were courteous. Interacted with Dom and Joey - so very friendly and helpful. The location is great! So very close to everything.

Nice gym, great dining area although the staff seemed like they couldn’t handle the crowd. First morning for breakfast we were never approached at the table so we moved ourselves to the bar area. 2nd day breakfast it took a long time to get our check - we had to ask for it and we were never checked on for coffee top off.

The evening entertainment is very good. The singer on 12/6 was awesome! Great singing voice - so smooth.

The best part of this property was the staff and the comfort of the bed. I am very picky about what I sleep on and this bed was a ten! Staff could not have been more accomodating or helpful. Dom at the front desk made me feel right at home and he was very attentive. He always remembered me by name. This is by far one of the best hotels I have been in. The only down side was the coffee bar. Very slow and even if you called ahead, you waited in line like you never ordered ahead.

Rooms are big enough, clean and nicely decorated.
Most staff are friendly.
The only reason I gave it a total of 4 stars, rather than 5 was the fact that most staff at the restaurant, are working on a robotic-mode; they tell you automatically whatever they have been trained to say, or whatever they usually say, pretty much heartless service, no personal touch at all, but I have to admit, that this is pretty much the American way, in contrast to the more relaxed and personal attitude that is more common in Europe and Asia.

Fantastic hotel located right in the heart of Waikiki. Very accessible to restaurants, shops, and the beach is a mere 5 min walk away. Hotel is comfortable and clean with a wonderful staff. Would absolutely stay here again!

Only complaint I have are the mattresses. They are surprisingly lumpy and made my back sore every morning. Other than that, terrific hotel!

We're not the type of people that go to the same vacation spot or even stay at the same hotel. But this is 2 summers in a row we've stayed at The Laylow because we absolutely love this place. A great central location for our family with younger kids, walkable for food, beach, shopping and activities. But the hotel itself is so fun, amenities are lavish, activities and treats for hotel guests everyday, and best of all - the staff! Midori who runs the gift shop and activities and who knows what else remembered us! She's just the sweetest. This hotel also has a very active night scene so it can get loud but as long as you're not on the 3rd floor, I think you'll be fine. There are not enough characters in this review box to truly encapsulate how special this place is to us.

The location is amazing, and the breakfast was definitely a highlight—really delicious. I also loved the hotel’s decoration, very stylish and well thought out. That said, a few things didn’t meet expectations: I never received the welcome box I was told about, my room faced a parking lot, and the cleaning staff took my body wash during the stay. The pool also looked better in photos than in real life. Overall, not a bad stay, but for the price, I expected a bit more

Good waikiki location

Great location in Waikiki near a lot of bars and restaurants. Lovely staff who helped us with an early check in after a long overnight flight.
A lot of noise overnight however and the elevators were obviously quite old and nearly trapped us a couple of times getting in. Our balcony overlooked a car park which probably didn’t help the noise at night. Swimming pool more of a cool off area as it’s only 3 feet deep so couldn’t really swim.
Also a $40 a night resort tax added at the end of the stay.
Appreciate you pay for location in this instance.

We booked a corner room on an upper floor, and it was wonderful! The room decor was stylish, yet comfortable. The staff was very attentive. Always a smile and greeting when we were in the lobby. Our bed was overly soft, and they immediately resolved it with a mattress change. The housekeeping staff was prompt and friendly. We loved everything about our stay at the Laylow, and will be back again!

The location is in a great area of Waikiki since it’s so close to all the shops, stores, and restaurants. The valet guys work really hard and are really friendly and efficient. But unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again. It was really loud staying in this area and there was a lot of homeless people that stayed around the bottom of the escalator to get to the hotel. The hideout bar is located in the hotel, so there were a lot of drunk people as well.

The hotel is on Waikiki, very conveniently located and the staff are incredible: friendly, and helpful, and generally the property is clean. There are often live performances at the Hideout, so lovely to enjoy drinks and the music. There are also public transit/bus stops nearby that will take you to places like Diamond Head. One thing is doesn’t have is the beach direct access, which we didnt mind, as the beach is always quite busy, so we liked the fact that we could enjoy some peace and clean space to lounge by the pool. The shaved ice offered at 1pm each day is a nice touch to cool off.

Great location. Easy 5-7 minute walk to the beach. TONS of eating options with a short 1-10 minute walk. An independent bar downstairs has happy hour from Noon - 7pm. Paia Fish Market is right next door. Marugame Udon (fresh made noodles in house) is directly across the steeet from the property. International Marketplace is about 100 yards away. Very close. Walking thru Int’l Marketplace lands you on Kalakaua Ave where you’ll find high end shopping and more eating options like Vintage Island Coffee - our favorite for coffee and açaí bowls. We didn’t find any need to rent a car to get around town since we booked activities that picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. While it isn’t the newest construction, they’ve done a good job of keeping it up to date and clean. Live music performances Sun - Thur. DJ Fri & Sat. Friendly staff. The Laylow definitely has a spot on our short list for places to stay in Waikiki.

The hotel is nicely positioned in Waikiki. We could walk to the beach in about 5 minutes and to about any restaurant in no more than 10. The staff was immensely helpful and friendly throughout. We had a handicapped accessible room (which we didn’t request or require). It was a bit more spacious, but the shower water bled into the floor if the bathroom. Engineering couldn’t fix it. Just inconvenient. The on-site restaurant was nice, although they could refresh the cushion covers. Food was good, Mai Tais need to be fresher :). Our bed was rather firm, but I liked it. My wife much less so. Pool area is very nice. The pool is swim able but shallow and the water was a good temperature. Overall we had a very nice stay and enjoyed ourselves at the Laylow.

5-night stay. The location is 5-10min walk to every resource you need in Waikīkī. It is also more convenient for taking a ride comparing with the hotels beside the beach. There is a Welcome Basket in the room, it contains chocolate, snacks, and a tote bag. The bag is very useful for carrying all the stuff for hanging around the beach. Recommend to stay in upper floors where are less interrupted by the noise from the street and restaurants.

Love The Laylow!

We had a wonderful time on our 2nd anniversary. The room was so comfortable and the hotel is in a great location. All staff were friendly and warm. So much food and shops within a 2 minute walk. We definitely would love to stay here again!!! A thing to note, there are 2 bar/restaurants at the base of the hotel. Everyday both were always hopping with great live music in the evening. We didn’t mind as we love live music and enjoyed it from our balcony, but could hear faintly when we closed the sliding door. Just something to keep in mind.

Great location, we got a corner room so it was spacious, but the hotel is in the middle of all the buildings, if you're looking for view, this might not be it. It's right across from the International Village's (shopping center) above ground multi-storied parking garage. Our room was on the 7th floor and still in full view of the packade, I think you'd have to be like 9-10 or above to avoid staring right at that guy who's leaning on the ledge and smoking while staring at hotel rooms.

Our 5th stay at Laylow always a pleasure.
Love the long pool hours 6am-9pm, the Coffee bar opening at 6am and providing decent cappuccinos also a plus.
Water fill station with still and sparking as well as ice. The ice-bag situation could use some help as most of the time you don’t need a full bag to fill the ice bucket in the room but a dozen cubes to throw in your water bottle.
Will definitely be back.

Parking is expensive ($60/day) and my door card reader died on the morning of the last day of my stay as I was getting ready for a business meeting in town. Pool is great and being open till 9pm is awesome also.
Parking/valet is pricey at $60 per day, so keep that in mind if you have a rental car as public parking is very scarce in Waikiki.

My stay at the Laylow Autograph Collection was disappointing, especially considering its price range. As a loyal Marriott and Autograph Collection customer, I expected more. Here are the reasons why:

1.Noise Issues: Despite being on the 10th floor, I could hear music and street noise after midnight.
2.Adjacent Room Noise: Starting from 5 AM, I was disturbed by children crying, and people talking loudly.
3.Appliance Noise: The mini-fridge in the room made intermittent loud noises throughout the night. I also noticed it emitted a foul smell when I tried to turn it off due to its noise.
4.Comfort Issues: The pillows(all 4 pillows) were too thick for back sleepers, and the bed was uncomfortably soft.
5.Hygiene Concerns: The bath towels had a strong unpleasant odor, noticeable even without putting them close to my face.

Overall, this experience fell short of the standards I typically associate with a 4-star rating.

The hotel does not mention that the pool gets limited sun due to the parking garage and the hotel on each side of it. So there is a certain time of day the pool is sunny, and it is not heated. So do not book property for the pool.
