Please be aware hotel is under major construction (which we found out on arrival). Rooms will be loud from 9am-4pm. Pool is open, gym is not available unless u go to another hotel. 2 of our hotel towels were not clean, (Looked like smeared blood stains). I requested a quiet room away from elevator but the lady placed our room right infront of it. Pool staff is very friendly, front desk staff mostly friendly. Overall hotel felt like the low point of our vacation due to its condition.excellent location thou

This place was under construction, and when we first entered our room, it smelled like mold or mildew. One of the elevators was completely boarded up, talking about thanks for being a good sport on the odors and the construction. Their gym was closed yet you were charged for amenities with a daily resort fee.

The property location is the best, next to the beach, have two restaurants, is in the front of International Marketplace and the front street pass the buses! About clean needed more with details, specially shower head, between tiles and the sink. The staff are very friendly and helpful! After check out (11 am), they hold our suitcases until 6 pm, that was great because our flight was at 10:20 pm.
If we will visit Honolulu again we will stay in this hotel! Mahalo! 🌺

ALL staff were amazing. The room was what I booked and expected. I did however upgrade to the club level. Upon arrival the hotel is under construction. Makeshift lobby area, particle board walkway no nice lobby area to sit while waiting or to have a drink. Construction noise and mess and boarded up areas all over. Weird, makeshift way to pool. The club as advertised is NOT what it was. No patio to go sit and have a drink and view the ocean - it was a makeshift little space that was not nice, could not sit outside. Food was the same every day for 8 days for breakfast and for evening snacks - no canapes changed out - so disappointing for our first Hawaii and our first Outrigger experience. No offer compensation for the construction just go ahead and pay normal rate and sorry for the inconvenience. This is not acceptable. So disappointing.

Our room was nice and we really enjoyed the stay. Hosting staff at Duke’s, the downstairs restaurant was dismissive at times and we received mixed information. We had a better experience at the other restaurant upstairs. The location of the hotel is great- right in the beach and close to all sorts of stores. There’s also a coffee shop next door that opens early. Definitely recommend the hotel.

The hotel rooms feel a bit outdated, but it’s encouraging to see that renovations are underway. With these updates, the overall experience will likely improve significantly. I knew when booking the property that it was undergoing renovations, but I was still surprised at how basic the property felt. I also recognize we arrived after some really rough rain and that hotel staff was likely personally impacted and not all themselves. With that said, I have traveled a lot, including internationally and aside from the valet drivers, I did not find hotel staff especially helpful. I think overall, I would say everything was just fine, but nothing more or less.

I thought booking through Hotel.com included “Resort Fee” I thought the price included taxes but it did not…Room general excise tax $19.71 Daily Tesort charge $50 Daily Resort charge GET $2.36 , Room State Transient Accommodation Tax $46.01, Daily Resort charge TAT $5.50, Room County Transient Accommodation Tax $12.55, Daily Resort Charge CTAT $1.50 . Total Resort fees ($50 + $2.36 + $5.50 + $1.50 =$59.36) Daily Tax ($19.71 + $46.01 + $12.55 =$78.27) Grand total daily (and this is a week day cost - $137.53 ! (weekend $10 more per day) 147.53. Wow

We were taken aback by the impact of the renovations, finding it noisy, smelly at times, difficult for my mom (90) to access things. Having said that, the breakfast buffet was AMAZING, and the food at Duke's and the Hula Grill was fantastic! We found the staff to be incredibly helpful, and gave us a better room and some compensation. We look forward to hearing about the new renovations :)

Overall, the hotel was okay but definitely in need of a full renovation. The location was amazing and by far the best part of the stay — everything was close and convenient.

However, the rooms felt outdated and small in some areas. The beds were also on the smaller side, which made it less comfortable than expected. The coffee machine definitely needs to be replaced as it didn’t meet the standard you’d expect.

It’s a decent place if you care most about location, but improvements and upgrades are really needed to match the price and potential.

I was disappointed. The property was under construction and didn’t really give off a nice resort vibe. The rooms are old, had a few problems but were resolved with the maintenance crew coming.
If it wasn’t for a friend of mine explaining that before the construction, there was many shops in the lobby areas and easier to access from the street, I don’t think I would return.
I am willing to give it another chance, only because of the great location and prime beach access, in hopes rhat we return when construction is over.
The staff was always friendly, so that’s great.
The only other thing was it kind of sucked to be charged a resort fee per day, when there was really not a resort vibe with all the construction.

We had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. We didn’t know they were undergoing renovations, and that meant the gym was closed during our visit. They also charge for wifi, and a $50 resort fee per day for “amenities” that were largely closed during our visit due to bad weather. While I totally understand they can’t control the weather, charging people for it when everything is closed is in poor taste. When I inquired about it, they said it goes towards things like the coffee in the room and sunscreen at the pool (pool was closed the whole time, and coffee? That’s a normal inclusion at any other hotel.
Some of the staff were helpful and some were not. The servers at Dukes were lovely, as was the breakfast buffet (albeit pricey). The valet was great. Some of the front desk were great and some were not.

Overall, it was just an ok hotel. If I was to stay again in Waikiki I’d pick the beachcomber across the street with better facilities and friendlier staff.

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort for seven nights and left extremely disappointed. The property is currently under heavy construction, and the extent of that construction was not clearly disclosed at the time of booking.

Large sections of the hotel are impacted. One entire entrance is closed, parts of the property feel like a construction zone, and several amenities that guests reasonably expect at a “resort” are simply unavailable. During our stay there was no on-site coffee shop, no gym, and multiple areas of the property were either closed or disrupted. The hotel itself is also clearly aging, which is much more noticeable when so many services and facilities are unavailable.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the hotel is still charging a $50–$60 per night resort fee. Resort fees are typically justified by access to amenities like fitness facilities, on-site services, and enhanced guest experiences. When those amenities are closed or unavailable, charging a full resort fee feels unreasonable and misleading.

Had the extent of the construction and closures been clearly communicated ahead of time, we likely would have chosen a different property. Waikiki has many options, and guests deserve transparency when a hotel is undergoing major renovation.

The beachfront location is great, but in its current state this property does not deliver the experience expected for the price — especially when additional nightly resort fees are still being charge

Very friendly staff. Hotel is being renovated, but the font desk person gave us a compimentary upgrade away from any nose. The room cleaning people are like guest service ambassadors (Nancy in our case) and she always remembered our name and has a great Aloha Spirit! It is nice to have Duke’s in front, and the Mai Tai bar at the Royal Hawaiian is steps through the sand away next door!, The hotel is situated very well in an upscale section of Waikiki. We would stay there again.

After we got to our room we could see that we were not given the type of room we payed for namely a Spa tub room. When I called the front desk they agreed to move us the next day, but also offered us a suite instead.

We had a great oceanfront view in both rooms, the sliding doors would not easily close and lock.

Since we were ocean front and on the 6th floor the entertainment from Dukes (first floor ocean front of the hotel we very loud and distracted from our experience in the evening but fortunately they bands quit playing around 9:00 PM.

My family has been staying at the Outrigger for over 40 years and with reason: the staff are absolutely incredible, the property is well-maintained with detail and care, and the location is perfect and centralized! From the moment we checked-in, we were greeted with warmth and kindness from the staff. Once we were ready to explore, everything is literally in walking distance from this property. We loved the Rock and Hula show which is walking distance to the hotel, International Market Place is literally across the street (very helpful since our 9 month old was traveling with us - we made quite a few Target runs!), and the car rental center for island adventures was right around the corner. I will say, the lobby is currently under renovation but they limit it to hours when guests are more likely out and about. I cannot wait to return to see the completed renovations! The Outrigger and its staff are simply wonderful - you won’t be disappointed with your stay here! I am truly looking forward to our next visit!

The location of this hotel is great. Close to main strip where all the shops and restaurants are but it can be noisy if you want to go to bed earlier than 10pm. The hotel has a nice beach and Dukes is a great place to have a dinner and drinks with an ocean view. The pool is kind of small so we stayed at the beach only. Even tho there’s construction going on, I didn’t hear any noise when I was there. Loved the refillable water bottles and all the water fountains available all over the hotel to refill them. The free beach bag was a nice surprise also. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Ocean view nice. Had to pay for an upgrade PER day fee. Housekeeping staff were amazing. Restaurant staff were nice. Restaurant manager always seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder.
We hadnt been advised that the hotel was in the process of an overhaul so a lot of sawing and hammering.
Although the rooms were very clean they are very old (dated). Beds and bedding need to be improved.
The property itself is perfect for its location however very old. For the price per room one would expect a little more glam.
Dukes has amazing food and the bartenders are excellent. Would i stay here again? Probably not unless the rooms were updated. The great thing about this property is that it is centrally located on Waikiki Beach.

Remodel was going on. Poor at best bell hop service at check in. Dukes the world famous restaurant was not available for reservations. Hotel had no priority for guests and it was booked all 5 nights we stayed by mostly non hotel staying people. Ocean view room both stays overlooking rooftops with a glimpse of ocean view definitely not worth extra expense. Overall experience was poor especially when we had just experienced Fiji and had twice the hospitality and room for half the price

We recently stayed at the Outrigger Waikīkī Beach for one week and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We chose the hotel based on its strong reviews and beachfront location, which made the experience even more surprising when it did not live up to expectations.

Given how positive many of the reviews are, we were genuinely surprised by the condition of the property. The hotel feels quite run down, and it’s clear that the rooms have not been updated in years. The overall cleanliness also left a lot to be desired, which made the stay even more disappointing given the price point. At $515 CAD per night, we were hoping for a higher standard.

While the location right on Waikīkī Beach is nice, the hotel itself doesn’t justify the premium price. Our partial ocean view was underwhelming, and there were very few benefits to paying extra for the beachfront property. The hotel also does not provide complimentary beach chairs or umbrellas for guests, which many travelers would reasonably expect, especially when neighboring beach front properties offer them.

Service was another major disappointment. Both check-in and check-out felt unwelcoming. At check-out, staff simply handed us the receipt and resumed their conversation with each other without offering help with luggage or asking about our stay.

The beachfront location is the main positive, but the condition of the hotel and lack of attentive service made the stay feel overpriced and disappointing overall.

We had a club room which included breakfast and happy hour food and drinks. This turned out to be a great option. The hotel was well positioned in Waikīkī with direct access to the beach and located in the heart of shopping and restaurant district. Only reason I didn’t score higher was that their fitness room was closed until further notice.

The staff here is top-notch! From front desk, to housekeeping to wait staff to pool crew to valets. We were all very impressed!
