Vive is a great location. Walkable to all great food and shops. The beach is 3 short blocks away. The Vive is a clean and great employees. They supply beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for the guests. The buffet was also really good. Great value. We would highly recommend.

Breakfast was wonderful. There was some confusion with our room not being available. They wanted us to stay one night in one room, then move to another room for the second night. This was unacceptable. For some reason the gentleman had to keep going into the back room to check with somebody. It reminded us of the salesman at a car lot having to check with his manager. They said they were giving us a tremendous upgrade to a penthouse suite. The view was "penthouse" we could see Diamond Head and the ocean between the other buildings. The room itself was not penthouse status. The door to the toilet would not close because it didn't fit into the frame anymore. It was nice enough, we probably would stay here again, but really could have done without the drama when checking in.

Great location right next to the beach, restaurants and stores at a walking distance. Staff was very kind and helpfull at all times. Complimentary breakfast is a plus. Coffee and tea available 24x7 at the lobby. My room was small but clean and comfortable. Beach gear is available for use (chairs, mats, towels and umbrella) at no cost. We would come back again without hesitation.

Everything was wonderful my son n I stayed there for 4 nights n enjoyed our stay. My only issue was I couldn't get an late checkout since my plane didn't leave till 11:40 pm n checkout is at 11am but they did extend my checkout till 12noon so great full for that. Would definitely recommend it's literally 3 blocks from the beach.

First time visiting and our stay was pretty great. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was bonus, the buffet had assortments of breads, fruit, eggs, and a protein. Coffee goes 24/7 and there are water refill stations within the hotel. Parking is valet $40 a day. Beach gear is also available for free which is super nice considering the beach is right up the street.

A few things worth mentioning that isn't specifically the hotels fault. Since you are on the main street. The outside noise can be an issue. I was woken up a few times due to this. Also the AC unit can be quite loud. Bed was a little rough, but room overall was good use of space. I would stay here again.

Very disappointed in our stay at Vive Hotel Waikiki. The rooms are not consistent with any of the marketing photographs on the hotels.com website or the hotel website itself.

First, the room walls are marked up pretty significantly. Reminded me of dorm room walls. Scratched, scuffed, and poorly repaired (if it was). Second, the overall cleanliness of the rooms was not at expectation either. The carpeting was dirty, the areas near the base boards were dusty, sandy and not well kept. The bathrooms again were not consistent with what is displayed on the website and have not been cleaned/maintained well.

In each room, there are old window AC units. While this is not a bother to us (we don't mind white noise) some may find this rather bothersome as they are loud and older.

Each room has towels around the windows. There was a fair amount of rain in Honolulu when we visited and to see white towels draped on each window sill tells you that there is a water and moisture problem at the hotel and the windows are in need of repair or upgrade.

When you consider what you are spending to stay in Waikiki at Vive, I am confident there are places that are better kept. I am stunned by the amount of 5/5 ratings this hotel has.

On a positive note, we did bring up our displeasure to the management. They did note that the photos are old and the hotel has aged (that is saying it nicely). They did hear our concerns, and upgrade our room to a larger one albeit with all the same issues.

The staff was welcoming, friendly, and responsive. Rooms and building was clean. There were issues with more than regular wear and tear (plug covers damaged, wall damage where doors hit, hallway seating areas badly worn, etc). That part of the experience was meh. However, the rooms were tidy and cleaned everyday. Breakfast was also ok. The eggs and meat felt like dorm food, and I didn't like the taste. Not many gluten free + dairy free options, but it was probably ok for most. check-in/check-out was quick. Valet was quick. Location was convenient. It's what you pay for, but if you want an elevated, really nice experience, this hotel is average.

Not sure why there were so many 5 stars review we booked the 2 queen room for the week and we couldn’t wait to leave as soon as we got there. Room was dirty and dusty and run down. The whole place seems run down. Room had no wifi and AC was super loud, wifi only worked if we go down to the lobby. Breakfast was bare minimal. Made Holiday Inn express looked 5 star! We left the next day and checked in another hotel on the island and enjoyed rest of our trip. Expedia provided excellent customer service and refunded our money for the days we did not stay.

Buyer beware. These people will charge an extra 41 or two dollar fee that was not noted on the price when booking.

Additionally, I paid for a beach view room, assuming the hotel was on the beach. If you call looking at the next building a beach view, then I guess that counts.

Good night sleep at night because the air conditioners of the window were really loud and you’re only source of cool air in the room and if you turn them off, you can hear the noisy street directly beneath you

I spent 10 days solo at Vive and loved it. Room was well sized, windows overlooked the beach. No balcony which was fine as the street below can get loud. I needed to work while there and Vive accommodates with a full size desk (anyone who has tried to make do with a flimsy round little bistro table knows a full desk is Everything for us digital nomads). Bathroom was good - huge walk in shower - with eco friendly bath products. Generous breakfat in the mornings that was elevated from the typical 'buffet line'. 22 floors and 2 elevators yet never had to wait more than about 30 seconds. The front desk and housekeeping staff are LOVELY! Good coffee is kept fresh and hot all hours (which was really helpful as I worked NY hours)! The area is eminently walkable. So many great food choices. I had 2 AC units in my Jr Suite, very comfortable. Mini fridge. I took the advice seriously not to leave any open food/beverages or packaging left out so to not attract bugs - at all meals out or down in first floor common area - nothing in room - and as a result I had an entirely bug free stay. Will stay at Vive again in a heartbeat!

Second time saying at the Vive. It’s getting older for sure, scuffs on the walls, dated furniture and AC. The continental breakfast is nice, along with the beach gear available. Only 2 blocks from the beach which is great. All of the staff except one guy was very friendly. We did have a ton of small ants in our room which was unfortunate and there was some hair in the tub when we checked in. Overall a decent stay for a lower price than a lot of other hotels on Waikiki.

This is an old building that has been renovated. The room is small, but we could see the ocean. The main downside was a window air conditioner that was very loud. In the morning, we’d turn it off just for some respite.
There’s only valet parking, but that seemed to work fine. From the street, the entrance to the hotel is rather hidden. I had to learn the landmarks of the buildings that preceded Vive so I wouldn’t drive past it.
The breakfast buffet was modest, but adequate. Coffee is available 24 hours, and it’s good. Seating is scarce at 7 AM when the buffet opens. Staff is very nice. Overall, I’d call Vive a fair value.

Valet service was very friendly. Arnel recognized us on the last day of our 1-week stay, even though he only had only seen us one other time when we arrived.

All of the staff from the front desk, housekeeping, and kitchen were attentive and answered all of our questions.

The room was clean and stocked with what we needed. The breakfast was enjoyable everyday.

The welcoming staff—specially Marshall was very accommodating! My favorite part is when they text before our stay, that made us feel we were expected, everything is prepared and ready. Whenever we needed anything, it was provided right away. The breakfast was great! Not too overwhelming def helpful to start up your day. The rooms were very clean. The room was sufficient for the price. Their rooms are dated, there is no balcony, but some rooms will have a view of the beach. Regardless, the rooms are very clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. There are beach items that are free to use — boogieboards, chairs, umbrellas, cooler bags — making life so easy if you feel like lounging on the beach which is 2 blocks away.

Very easy check-in. We were greeted warmly upon check in and given a cold glass of refreshing pineapple juice. After a long flight the juice was much appreciated. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to Waikīkī beach and they provide guests with free towels, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas. Included breakfast was very nice. Eggs (hardboiled or omelet style for the three days we were there), sausage or bacon, a variety of fresh fruit, toast, pastries, porridge, coffee or tea…it was quite good. Sometimes difficult to find a table but it all works out.
Overall the hotel is an excellent choice over the more expensive nearby hotels.

Right off the bat, super nice staff; they are fantastic. The breakfast was solid, fruit is definitely the highlight. They provide you with lots of nice bonuses golded into the amenity fee. Room is clean, but we had an issue with the bathtub draining. We let the staff know, and they fixed it later that day. The rooms do have the potential to be small. Think more "Japanese business hotel" size. It's a good choice and I would recommend, but it's not a perfect place or stay. Overall pretty good with a great location.
