Overall the stay wasn’t terrible. We booked a room with two full beds for four people. Staff was nice, and the rooms were nice too, although they were very small. Housekeeper only came once to change our sheets for our whole 6 day trip, not satisfied with that considering every day was spent on the beach and our room and sheets were sandy. On the third day, we came back from the beach and when we came in the hotel there was missing food from our desk. We asked to speak to the manager and there wasn’t one in the building at the moment. We didn’t end up talking to a manager because we didn’t want to create a hassle, but unbelievable. Also they charge you $300 once you check in on top of everything you paid for. This was for the “amenities”. None of the amenities included having a coffee maker, microwave, or water in the hotel room. Didn’t know why we had to pay for that if we didn’t use their wifi, gym, or any other of their amenities. On the website it said vallet parking was around $58 and we were ready to pay for it, until the gentlemen in the front said it would be $80 because our car was considered a “oversized vehicle”. We had a Jeep Wrangler. A car that can fit in any parking spot. They are only looking to charge you for anything possible. It wasn’t terrible, but we have stayed at plenty of other hotels that were way better and cheaper on Waikiki. Do not recommend this one.

The hotel is in a great location. the staff is very friendly. There are not many amenities. There is no microwave in the room. The snack bar in the lobby is extremely limited. They do not have a microwave either and the coffee i ordered was barely warm without a way to heat it up.

It is a good mid range older hotel. The room was large and clean.The staff was very friendly. The main problem is outside of the hotel's control. There is an all night every night party spot in the alleyway on the mountain side of the hotel. The sound comes in from the vented bathroom windows. Even from the tenth floor can you can hear it,loud screaming, yelling all night every night. I would stay there again. But make sure you bring noise cancelling headphones.

We only stayed for one night but we were so impressed by their excellent customer service. Upon dropping off our bags before check-in time (3pm), we were advised to call them around 2 pm to see if our room is ready and it was. All inquiries were answered with smiles. Though there is not Lanai, but our room has a great view of ocean and plenty of space for two of us. We liked their small hotel vibe.

We loved our stay at Hotel Renew. Super accessible, a bunch of restaurants nearby, STUNNING views, the beach is only 2 minutes away and the people were super welcoming. The air conditioning in the room was great, you can adjust it to your liking. The location was super convenient.

Rooms need some updating. Funiture is beaten up, carpet is extremely old and worn. The AC units are under a built in bench and hardly work. They are also blocked by the bed in the double twin rooms. There shouldn’t be any amenity fees as there are none but it is what it is. Staff is very friendly. Sent someone to our room 3 times to fix the AC unit the best they could and provided a fan. Way over priced for the overall condition, room size and no amenities.

The room was good and great location.

Cons:
Minor issues with room: bathroom glass had blue tape for a missing window glass slot, the outdoor balcony furniture was pretty old and rusted so there were a couple of things that could be improved. There is a no smoking in the rooms which was fine but I guess someone on the floor was smoking near us. I did have a guest who smokes staying in the room but he was going outside to smoke and following the rules. So when I got a text on my phone telling me about the no smoking policy and the $500 charge if it doesn’t stop , I got concerned they were accusing my room . It was a bit concerning waking up to the text and knowing it was not my room doing that. Would’ve been nice if they could update the verbiage to indicate this was a mass notification to the floor or if it is targeted to me, to let me know. My partner went downstairs after the text and we were assured it was not us that they were referring to. The next day I got a note under my door so I ended up just ignoring it. They should speak to the room directly if they know who it is.

Pros: everyone was so nice and helpful. They let us borrow a cooler, chairs, towels, pool noodle, workout equipment. We used it all during our stay and it was so great to be able to borrow this instead of buying it and having to throw it away at the end of the trip. The location was great, and so was the coffee shop downstairs. I would wake up early and get a cup of coffee to enjoy in my room every

Sweet staff, they greet you with pineapple juice and a cold towel to wipe your face. Hotel rooms are very well sized. “City view” isn’t very pretty but for the price and location, I’m ok with it!

I stayed at Hotel Renew over New Year’s and wanted to leave fair, constructive feedback.

Check-in and check-out were handled professionally. Staff even brought Christmas cookies to the room, which was a thoughtful gesture, though I had just arrived from a long flight and was asleep when they knocked.

The room was clean and everything worked properly. The property feels older but not dirty. Bedding and the shower were clean and comfortable, and I slept well. The AC is an older motel-style unit but was strong, easy to adjust, and kept the room comfortable.

The TV setup was excellent and easy to connect devices. Power outlets were well placed, and the room was spacious. Internet speeds were around 40 Mbps and usable, but the connection would disconnect and require logging back in, including a survey and text message, which is inconvenient—especially late at night if you are downloading, it could cause issues.

Privacy may be an issue for some guests. The windows use wooden sliding blinds rather than curtains, and even when closed they leave a gap, so the room never gets fully dark.

The main drawback was daytime hallway noise from staff activity. Because the doors are thin, conversations right outside the room carried clearly inside. Being more mindful of noise in guest hallways would help.

The desk chair was also uncomfortable for working.

Overall, for the price—especially over New Year’s—it was a good value. I hope management found this helpful, I did enjoy my stay.

The level of service was phenomenal. The staff was amazing. The location is perfect and steps from the beach. The only improvements I would recommend is removing carpet on floors and a little more cleanliness details like walls because the hotel does have a lot of Japanese guest. The new cafe downstairs is also a great perk of staying at Hotel Renew. I recommend this place for a personalized boutique hotel experience.

I was very disappointed that, upon arriving, I was charged $35/day for ‘amenities’ consisting of a beach towel and chair- whether I wanted them or not! It would have cost me about $15 to purchase a towel and chair for the whole week! Very disappointing!!!

We stayed with RenewHotel before so it was an easy choice to rebook again.
Needed to be close by for the JAL Honolulu marathon, a block away from the beach with many great places to eat within walking distance.
Room was clean, bed could be firmer.
Staffs were great and courteous.
Would stay here again when in Honolulu.

The front desk lady (I think she’s a supervisor) was so kind and helpful. The rooms were tidy but not very clean, the showers were kinda dirty on the walls and curtain. The shelves in the closet hadn’t been cleaned in a while and looked like there was some pet hair because they allow pets.

The room was the “ocean view” which is technically just a partial obstructed view where you can’t open the window beyond 2 inches. Outside window was dirty so the view was through a dirty window. Ac was very ineffective came in and the room was so hot I was sweating trying to sleep. Had to order a fan.

This hotel is on my “go to” list when I need a one night stay, inexpensive, and cozy.
I think my first time here was almost 7-8 years ago. I frequently flying from the other island.
At this point it seems like this place needs some renovation. At least the reception area and furniture are definitely in need of renovation/ deep cleaning etc. it looks a little tired already.
The stuff has not responded to the messages quick enough. I would also provide a coffee maker or a teapot, at least on request etc.
But it’s still a good option!

Overall, a very disappointing accommodation. We arrived after ared-eye flight from Sydney about two hours before the 3 o'clock checkin and asked about checking in early. The young woman at the desk offered early check-in for $25. Being tired, we accepted wirhout questioning or requesting some consideration. She never asked about the reason for our stay or where we came from. Upon enetering the room it seemed comfortable enough. But further investigation revealed that we were in a corner room with no blackout curtains and the bathroom window was simply a slatted setup with no screen, curtain, or secondary inside window. This meant the room was warm all the time. In addition, the bathroom door was frosted glass, so the light ftom the street shined intobthe sleeping area. We should have gone back to the desk immediately to request a different room, but our exhaustion from the flight meant our desire to nap while was more important. Our next trip we will gladly pay more for a name brand hotel.

Great location but very basic hotel

Very basic hotel in a great location. Rooms are very standard and clean. There is no common areas to seat/socialize/work besides one couch in the lobby, so if you want to meet with friends or need to do something while you roommates are sleeping/resting you may end up in another hotel nearby that offers the typical hotel common spaces.
