I really enjoyed my stay at the Queen Kapiʻolani Hotel. The location was amazing — everything was within walking distance, including the beach, restaurants, shopping, and attractions. It made getting around Waikiki super convenient without needing to drive everywhere.

The staff was also very helpful and friendly throughout the stay, which made the experience even better.

The only downside was the parking. Parking ranges from about $50–$75 per day depending on where you park, which was a little upsetting and definitely adds up during your trip.

Overall, I would still recommend this hotel because of the great location, clean rooms, and helpful staff.

As owner of a small well regarded Hotel on the Big Island I was looking forward to weekend away and having stayed at Queen Kapiolani literally dozens of times since the 1990s I chose that on Hotels.com that I use exclusively across the worlds without a single fail prior to this.
Soon after the reservation was confirmed WITH INSURANCE there was a dire weather forecast for Oahu and so I called the Hotel the nite before to move my 4 nite stay forward.....Oh no they could not do that, no my stay history was lost in a hack (yeah likely) and in any case despite my Creds it was not possible....I asked Hotels

The hotel staff was awesome. We loved the location as well. It felt like an authentic Hawaiian hotel.

The first night was the only issue we had. We were placed in a room right above the restaurant, and it was very laid until 10PM. Afterwards, we could still hear the staff moving tables, etc.

We talked tot the front desk as we were moved to a higher floor, and we got a new amazing view of diamond head and the ocean. We were very happy with the new room.

The staff are very sweet and try to help with everything, but the room they gave us was incredibly detailed. We didn't want to bother with it and stayed there, but I've stayed in bigger rooms in Japan :) Unfortunately, the room was old, and the bathroom drain was broken, so water kept accumulating. However, it's close to everything, so you can stay there.

Overall, we had a very good stay. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming throughout the trip, and the location was hard to beat. It was convenient to restaurants, shopping, and the beach, which made exploring the area very easy. The property itself was clean and had a great overall atmosphere.

The only downside for us was the bed. Unfortunately, it was pretty uncomfortable and made it difficult to get a great night’s sleep. Aside from that, we really enjoyed our stay and would still recommend the property for its service and excellent location.

Loved this hotel, our room had excellent views of diamond head.The pool area was outstanding. Beds laid out with towels ready to use, plenty of towels available to grab whenever needed.it was possible to sunbathe there all day. Decks restaurant is brilliant, great food - check out there happy hour menu. Coffee shop excellent too Beach towels & deck chairs to borrow.All the staff were exceptionally helpfull. The hotel decor is fantastic. You are given water bottles to use, lots of water machines to fill them up. Best gym ever too. Room spotlessly cleaned everyday. Excellent location - opposite the Zoo. We hired a car & paid to park - but such a great location you could walk or catch a bus or pay for trips around the island instead.

My first time staying here since Kaimana Beach Hotel finally jacked up prices enough that I can't rationalize going there anymore. And I really enjoyed it! Was given an upgraded balcony/view room, and the check-in staff (Mika and Theresa) were both fantastic.

My views from the room were great, I enjoyed earning breakfast at Deck, and hanging out by the pool. Walking to the beach or across the rest of Waikiki was a breeze.

The only tiny area for improvement I can offer is that their valet/pull through area is sometimes pretty hectic, and yet the guys running it were super nice so it made it manageable.

I will be back!

The room could use more trash cans, larger robes that fit all sizes. A freshened up reno of the wet and dry bathroom areas. Overall, this stay was wonderful. We received a complimentary upgrade on our room that was an unexpected surprise and it was very much appreciated. The staff is top notch!! Service is excellent as well. The property is older and some parts are outdated, but the kindness, service and amenities FAR outweigh any negatives you may find. If you are looking for a quirky hotel on Waikiki, this one will not disappoint!

Check in staff was ok but not so friendly. Expedia booked rooms don’t get the same type of service as booking directly. They don’t offer late check out to Expedia booked guests… even if you offer to pay. Rooms are dated and don’t have dresser draw for folding your clothes so we had to leave them in the suitcase. Restroom wasn’t clean. Gorgeous view of the mountain! Close proximity of everything so that’s a plus.

With the exception of the first staff member that checked us in and the bell person that gave us our chair the first day, we found the staff to be dismissive and unhelpful. Our tv didn’t work, we called multiple times to finally get someone up to fix it. Deck (dining) was out of many things and they just decided to close an hour early the first night. Staff seemed bothered to take orders and serve guests. The food was bland. Room was ok- very outdated bathroom and super noisy if you face the zoo or pool. A weather front was coming through and the staff was not only unprepared, unhelpful and there was zero communication. Guests had no way to get food of any kind and there was no power for the majority of the day Friday- the alarms were blaring and part of a message played to evacuate so everyone went to the stairwells which was an enormous fire and safety hazard- after we were stuck in the stairwells for about 15 minutes, we finally made it to the lobby, where staff were not directing us and didn’t seem concerned at all. So in the pitch black, another guest informed us that it was a false alarm. So we waited in a line to try to ask a staff member if we were cleared to go back to our rooms. I am aware that the hotel does not control the weather but the lack of preparation is completely unacceptable. There are a couple of shops and restaurants nearby. I would not recommend nor will I return to this location.

Had the absolute best, relaxing and peaceful time for my week stay here! My mom and I were doing a girls trip and coming back from our daily activities greeted with a smile from the Bell Boys and the valet attendants; not to mention walking into a cool, clean room, made the world of a difference. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful every interaction we made. There are so many yummy food options a short walk away, Lulu’s is a must; and the beach is a hop, skip and a jump away. So thankful for the staff here, definitely will be recommending and returning!

If I could give QK 6 stars I would. One of the og hotels in waikiki but they did an exceptional job renovating. Lots of amenities making the resort fee worth it in this case. Free soft drink at check in. Free adorable reusable water bottle. Free views of diamond head from many rooms. Free use of beach chair and towel. Very short walk to the beach. Take in a concert at the shell while you’re here. It’s a 5 minute walk from here. I highly recommend QK!

The room was much smaller than anticipated and was outdated with old plumbing and no soundproofing from outside noises. We had a plumbing issue but the staff was very helpful and moved us to a better room. Staff is A+, building is mid. FREE PARKING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. Expect to walk a half mile or pay $60+ per night for valet.

This property met and exceeded ALL expectations. We had a great time, the beds were comfortable, the onsite restaurant was good, pool was a little on the cooler side in February but managable, great pool deck and view of Diamon Head. Close to everything and the beach. There are some hostels nearby and they can get a little rowdy until about 11pm but we turned on our white noise machine and slept like babies. Will definitelt stay again!

We had an amazing stay at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel! The location is unbeatable — just steps from Waikiki Beach and right across from the park with incredible views of Diamond Head. The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, and the housekeeping staff kept everything spotless throughout our stay.

The staff really stood out — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations for food and activities. The pool deck and on-site restaurant were great spots to relax after a day exploring.

Overall, it was the perfect mix of convenience, comfort, and island vibes. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Honolulu!
