We stayed 3 nights over Mother's Day and were unimpressed. The lobby looks wonderful and our room was nice and had a beautiful view of Waikiki. But the beach was not accessible because of monk seals and you could not eat at the restaurant (which was very expensive) without a reservation. And once you got off the elevators, the central atrium looked like a prison cell block or a Motel 6. There were no decorations of any kind to make the hotel look as inviting or as luxurious as the price would suggest. And while their website suggested there were bicycles for use by guests, it turned out you had to walk to the nearby aquarium, check out a city bike, pay for it, and then the hotel would reimburse you. The trouble was there were rarely bikes available there.

We had a wonderful stay at the Kaimana Beach Hotel. It was clean, the beach was beautiful and a short walk into town. The only hitch was you had to pay for parking or park across the street and pay metered parking.

Great location. Quiet but in walking distance of downtown shopping. So glad we chose an ocean view room. Absolutely gorgeous! Beach wasn’t crowded. The lobby was very welcoming and open with a lovely breeze as you entered.

We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and dinners (and a cocktail or two) in the Hau Tree Restaurant. No wonder it is a popular place to eat. Staff was very helpful, efficient and friendly.

We would highly recommend the Kaimana Beach Hotel.

After staying in many other places over the years I finally tried the Kaimana Beach Hotel. I really think it's the best located hotel in all of Honolulu, on the best beach, and away from the crowds of Waikiki. I like how you can borrow a beach chair without any extra charge. The little Russell's convenience store on the property is well stocked with just about anything you might want or need, including morning coffee and the daily paper. And I love the koi pond at the entrance. This will definitely be my default choice from now on. It's like an old style Hawaiian hotel and I hope they keep it that way.

Beautiful property with million dollar views of the coastline by day and skyline by night from our 7th floor balcony.
Street parking can be difficult to find due to popularity of beach front location. Hotel does offer valet parking for $55 per day.

The hotel staff were very nice, and accommodating. The hotel is older, but the room was fine, great views of the ocean. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The only real issue we had was the water in the shower early in the morning takes a while to warm up, other than that it was all great.

The room was very clean, and the resort fee included daily cleaning service. The dresser was older and had a mismatched drawer that didn't stay shut. We just dealt with it but I know they would have fixed it if we said something. We did tell them on check out. Beach view was gorgeous!!! The staff were all super friendly and accommodating. The bartender, Cramer, was awesome! The coffee shop baristas and convenience store workers were also so friendly. It was pretty handy having the convenience store right there, and it was open early amd closed late.
One thing we didn't realize until we were there was there was no covered patio to just hang out on and watch the ocean. You had to have lunch or dinner reservations to sit at the covered patio outside.
Most restaurants and shopping were walkable for us being about 1-1.5 miles away.
It was a very pleasant experience!

Stayed on April 12th in an ocean view room at Kaimana Beach Hotel.

The room itself was beautiful, with breathtaking views of the ocean, park, and surrounding mountains. I originally booked a park view room but requested an upgrade to the main hotel, as the “annex” building did not feel safe due to people hanging around the entrance. The staff accommodated the change, but I did pay for the upgrade.

Unfortunately, my experience took a serious turn. The air conditioner unit in the room leaked water onto the tile floor, and I slipped and fell hard on my side. My ankle became swollen and my hip was bruised. Because of this, I missed a planned hike with my sisters that day and had to cancel a Jurassic UTV excursion the following day.

What was most disappointing was the response from management. The hotel manager did not seem concerned and largely brushed off the incident, which made an already bad situation worse.

While the views and location are beautiful, this experience has made me reconsider staying here again.

Loved the location of this hotel - super peaceful and quiet spot removed from the crowded and bustling main area of Waikiki beach, but easily walkable there if you choose. Beautiful views of both the beach and Diamond Head. Was only there a short time so didn't use most of the amenities, but lots of nice offerings. Amazing value for a highly touristic area. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The room was fantastic, with an amazing view of the beach and cityscape. It was also very clean and beautifully decorated. The staff was super friendly and quick to respond with anything we needed. We were surprised to learn when we got there that there was a restaurant, cafe, and convenience store all on the grounds too! Dinner at the restaurant was delicious as well as the coffee and pastries at the cafe (which we visited every day). The overall experience there was absolutely wonderful.

Location on the Beach was beautiful. The hotel is in serious need of remodel. I feel the list of amenities was not correct. Our bed was smaller than a queen, the fan in bathroom didn't work. There is no gym, or bike rental on site. They only have one person at front desk doing 5 jobs, if you want towels for beach, or need help you have to wait while they are checking people in and answering phones. Our door to our room along with rooms by us won't shut. You have to slam them, because the door jams are off. Carpets through out old, table on linaii cracked, needs to be painted. Rust. The worst was the room had a wierd smell. The bar has 4 chairs to sit, all the other tables are empty with reserved signs for restaurant use only. The small lobby is open air, no place to sit outside, other than on the beach. Since no pool there is no outdoor space.

Clean though somewhat dated property.
Beach access and the beach was not crowded.
Had some issues with the property charging the same room balances more than once and placing large pending charges throughout our stay. The manager compensated us for the inconvenience of having this excessive depletion of credit card funds by giving us free parking though.
Restaurant was half closed due to weather and supposedly “fully booked”, but there were empty tables for almost 2 hours because the guests “called they are running late”: haven’t heard of a restaurant keeping your reservation for more than 15 min but this is not the case for Kaimana … So, make a reservation well ahead of time and they will keep their other guests unaccommodated even if you are extremely late.
The restaurant offers room delivery and take out too, which is helpful esp. when they are “fully booked” waiting for guests arriving late. Even if you take out they automatically charge you 18% gratuity… and expect you to add a tip on top too…

We stayed in the Parkview walk up building, as we have before. I always reserve the Parkview King Suite to suit the 3 of us. Room was clean and comfortable with daily excellent maid service. The restaurant has only pre made reservations, so we made one prior to our trip but could only get in late one night past our 6y old bedtime, so no restaurant for us. It was rainy our whole 9 day stay, so restaurant not open most of our days anyway. Breakfast was at least day old reheat food at menu price. Avoid breakfast there. So, no amenities other than in room fridge and microwave. But, we stay here for the location. San Souci is the best town beach. I recommend Kaimana for location, cleanliness and above average service.

The location is removed from the hectic Waikiki beach. A little quieter, a nice beach, good location for Diamond Head. Gorgeous view.

Past the lobby and dining area, the property is a bit run down. Halls need updated. Rooms were ok. Bathrooms though spacious could be remodeled.

Nice to have a coffee shop and small boutique shops on property.

The staff was excellent, the building was always clean. There was a storm while we were there, in fact it was a historically bad storm. The building lost power, the generator came on but did not supply power to our room or any of the rooms in the park wing as far as i could tell. The Hou Tree restaurant and bar is mostly outside & what is inside is open air so they had to close it to walk in customers & move the hotel service up to a ballroom upstairs. That wasn't an issue, what was an issue was we paid for the breakfast package which entitled us to 2 entrées & 2 non alcoholic drinks every day but they closed the kitchen completely one day, and the rest they only served salads or limited menu items. I paid for 14 days of breakfast but only had access to 10 days. The air conditioner in our room kept going out but it would come back after several power off cycles. It was a battle to keep the room cool once we got power back. All told, it was a good hotel stay but it could've been better.

Location was great on the beach. Comfortable, updated, ocean view room but bathroom was tiny. Birds kept landing on our balcony. Part of the adventure! Beautiful area and chill away from hub bub of dt Waikiki but there are very few restaurants in the area. Never was able to get reservations for Hau Tree lanai restaurant so had to eat in the bar area. Interior of property needs updating. All that said, we would stay here again.

Wonderful tranquil beach. Great access to ocean. No pool but the tranqil feeling of the beach made up for it. Not normal Waikīkī vibe. We liked it.

Had a visit on the beach by a monk seal. Go see the Aquarium next door. $5 if you are over 65. Best fish and beautiful coral sightings without getting wet. Some of rooms did not have elevator access. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The location 15 minute walk away from the busy part of Waikiki is a plus. The life-guarded beach in front is beautiful and safe for swimming. Beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas are available at the front desk. The breeze coming through the open air lobby is wonderful. The food is delicious. Nice coffee bar a few steps away. Also, a fully stocked convenience market a few steps away. The only disappointment was the seating process at the bar area of the restaurant. It was confusing as to whether you need reservations or they only take walk-ins.

We seem to recall the hotel had a renewal operation not too long ago...but what we found was more like a paint over rather than a fix all and then paint over. Some of the doors have missing pieces etc. The most unforgiving thing for my roommate was having no coffee in the morning and having to go down to Russell's to buy coffee (especially since it is part of the resort fee!)

We received no assistance taking our luggage to our room when we arrived. We had to use a bell person cart to do it ourselves. The bed in the room had a huge dip in the middle where we sunk into it. We woke up every morning with sore backs.

The mattress on one side of the bed had collapsed springs. If you slept close to the edge, it felt like you were going to roll off.

My recent stay at Kaimana Beach Resort was overall enjoyable, with the hotel offering a beautiful beachfront location that truly made the vacation feel luxurious. The property itself is very nice, and having a restaurant on-site with direct beach access added a lot of convenience and charm to the experience. I would rate the hotel a 3 out of 5, mainly due to service issues that did not meet the expectations of a 4-star hotel. Mark, who checked us in, was very professional and welcoming, but unfortunately the morning and evening staff were disappointing. On several occasions, I had to wait 10–15 minutes just to ask for beach towels. One night, the fire alarm rang in the middle of the night and no staff came to check on the situation. Additionally, I waited about 30 minutes on the phone just to inform the hotel that our Uber Eats driver was three minutes away and to ask if they could hold our food—by the time someone answered, the wait was already excessive. Overall, the hotel itself was fantastic, but the level of service needs significant improvement to match the quality of the property.

At any hotel there are good things and bad.
First the bad no hot water didn’t matter what time of day I showered no hot water.
Housekeeping was not great. My room was clean when I arrived but not great after that.
The hotel has no pool but is right on the beach - which we LOVED! But if there are jellyfish you can’t swim so we lost 3 days of water activities. Snorkeling is decent to the left of the hotel.
Yoga only Thursday mornings.
Public tennis courts right across the street and a walk through the park to Diamond Head Tennis centre where there are also PB courts.
Summary best place to stay if you want to play tennis, PB or a quiet hotel away from the strip!
Do not stay in the lowrise ask for the tower as it has an elevator and hot water.
Also there is a little convenience store attached to hotel that is REALLy well stocked.
Restaurant food was ok not really good.

Negatives: No smart tv. No coffee maker. Bathroom small. Room 414 bathroom door only closes if u slam it. Bed is on the softer side. No gym, but said we could use gym that was further down the street. It was about 25 min walk to this gym.

The location is quite nice. It's just outside of the hustle & bustle of Waikiki, but still within walking distance. Located on a small local beach with easy to swim waters that beckon you to enter. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the complimentary beach towels & chairs too.

Im not impressed with the front desk staff. I had a problem with the drain of the bath tub during our stay. I attempted to call the front desk, but after 10 rings, went downstairs. The first maintenance guy was unable to clear it. He stated the front desk would call us. We waited for 30-45 minutes before I fell asleep. They never did call. The next morning, we requested for maintenance to tend to the drain. This time, success! I booked the room with an app that stated I'd receive a complimentary bottle of wine. None was received. Later, when I enquired about the wine, found that they provided a $50 food/beverage credit to the room. That would have been nice to know upon check-in, rather than the day before we were leaving. They also advertise complimentary bikes to rent. I found that during our stay, the bikes were not available. The hotel stayed we could go down to this local shop about a block away, then they (the hotel) would reimburse us. This seemed like too much of a headache so we never did. They also advertise many amenities available upon request. I falsely assumed this included a microwave. To my dismay, there is not one available for customer use on property.

The beachside location and ocean view from our room were spectacular. The housekeeping was excellent and the restaurant was great I'd give those elements 5 stars. However the rooms are a 3. The bathrooms are small with little shelf space and no magnifying mirror. The sink area has no door separating it from the rest of the hotel room. The shower/toilet room has a louvered door and no exhaust fan, which is inadequate for privacy and steam/odor removal, and it was tricky to adjust the water temperature in the shower. The only chairs in the room are two straight back chairs around a small table. Dresser drawer space and the closet for hanging clothes are good, as are the refrigerator and safe. Over all, however, the rooms and corridors need updating.

And beware of the nearly $100/day in charges for valet parking ($50), Resort Fee ($40) and other taxes and fees.

Cockroaches in the room twice. Gave us a key to an already occupied room. Took 4 tries to give us a proper room.

When mentioned about the cockroaches staff asked if it was us….

Outdate rooms, need better housekeeping, better customer service. They nickel and dim for everything.

The room was clean. The view of Diamond Head was beautiful from the balcony. The beach was right in front of restaurant and was very nice. It was quieter and more calm than some. The valet was very friendly and helpful.

This is a wonderful hotel, located right on the beach, with excellent facilities and friendly service. I love the easy and pleasant walk to the downtown area of Waikiki overlooking the beach.

Our check in was disappointing. We had been offered an upgrade prior to the trip, and we accepted it. I was disappointed that not only were we not upgraded, we were put in the far less desirable wing of the hotel, named the Park (it isn't in any way a park).
Our family has been staying at this hotel for years, but we are not acknowledged in any way nor has our loyalty been rewarded in any way since the change in ownership.

The location was my favorite part of our stay. We were close to Waikiki but set away from the noise and traffic. The room was a bit disappointing because we had a big building as our view (sliver of beach on one side, sliver of Diamond Head on the other) and the building’s air conditioning unit drowned out the sound of the ocean. Staff was very nice. Our bed was made wrong (wrong size bottom sheet kept coming undone) All in all, the hotel had a great, relaxed vibe.

It's not a hotel, it's a smelly motel. Rooms are super small and nasty (the smell is really bad). No microwave, no coffee machine, nothing in the room. You don't even get a water refill. They promise a bottle of Champaign at the point of booking, but we never got it. The beach in front of the hotel is dirty, city beach. You might read that the hotel provides beach chairs, but those chairs are a joke (not real sun beds) + you have to carry them yourself from the reception. Noone is there to help you.
The restaurant is nice, but the hotel prioritizes outside guests, so you have no chance of getting a reservation (we tried daily and had to go eat outside of the hotel)

Was told someone would be at desk and get my vehicle which I payed for vallet even though I was leaving for my early plane ride. Waited at desk for approximately 15-20 minutes not a soul in site. Finally some kid named Dylan shows up and says “sorry my alarm didn’t go off” whatever that meant. Goes to get my vehicle and immediately returns with no car saying the key fob doesn’t work. I then grabbed the fob went to the car and surprise the car unlocked. Dylan had a poor attitude and could care less about the customer. Not a great look for the hotel.

The view was stunning from our Ocean View room with easy access to Kaimana beach. Resort fees include beach amenities like towels, beach chairs, and sunscreen, which was useful for our vacation.
