I had reservations for 4 people. I didn't like that they tried to charge me more $$ than my reservation.
I think it is a Hawaii thing, because the Hotel in Kona AND Thrifty Car Rental also tried the same shenanigans.
I liked the view, and I loved that the beach and the zoo are in close walking distance. Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to enjoy the balcony since the Party next door was OUT Of Control.
Breakfast was great and the staff is wonderful.

Amazing place. This is my go-to place whenever I stay in Honolulu! The beach is a 2 minute walk and it’s close by to lots of local restaurants and city life. The bus stop is also close by. Never disappoints!

We arrived to find that we were not going to get the king size bed with a partial ocean view that we had reserved. We were told that we had two double beds instead. We were told for $100 more a night we could have a king. But we did not know that there would also be $158 a night for changing the room and additional taxes. That added up to an additional $170 per night.Our bill was almost twice what had been indicated when we made the reservation. No one could explain to me the purpose of a reservation, if you were told it was available and you arrive and it was not. We had called the night before to verify the reservation and were told that the reservation was there and yes, we were getting a king size bed.Then at the desk when we arrived, they said that the type of beds could not be guaranteed. That really needs to be stated on the reservation.
Other than that, it was a very nice stay. Breakfast was nice. Housekeeping did a fine job. The concierge was excellent.

This is a great Waikiki Beach location. Just one block off the beach, and close to public transportation, shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Can't say enough about the staff. Everyone from Front Desk, Breakfast Wait Staff, Housekeeping and Bell Service was fantastic. Definitely a "will come back" on our Oahu list!

Overall, we had a good stay at Waikiki Resort Hotel.

The biggest highlight is the location, it’s extremely convenient and just a short walk to the beach, which made everything very easy and enjoyable. The staff were also very accommodating and helpful throughout the stay.

That said, the building itself feels a bit dated, and we experienced some issues with the toilet clogging twice, even though we only used the tissue provided by the hotel.

In Waikīkī you get what you pay for… location of the hotel is great, but the hotel is quite tired, they list that there’s a gym but it’s more like a very small cardio room, the breakfast will definitely leave you wanting a lot more, and if you call down for anything they tell you to come get it yourself. My biggest issue was that parking at the hotel is $46 a day plus the resort fee; which was about $600/700 for almost a week… I wasn’t prepared for that. you’re better off staying at a nicer hotel that eats those costs ;) You’re welcome!

Location is the best part of this stay, only a block to Waikiki Beach. This property is close to everything in Waikiki, restaurants, shopping and the beach. Property is well maintained and very clean but dated, definitely in need of an update for the entire property. Staff was pleasant and accommodating especially housekeeping and breakfast staff at buffet on second floor. Parking is pricey even though they said it was cheapest in the area. I would recommend daily car rental if you plan to go outside Waikiki or public transportation is readily available also. Theres a car rental inside the hotel and several within a few blocks of the hotel. We had a Deluxe Corner King Oceanview , nice balcony with a view of Waikiki Beach it was a decent size room with a comfortable King bed and a pull out queen sofa. Small bathroom and dressing area with sink and bar to hang clothes. We had to keep bathroom door shut to keep heat and humidity from room to keep the living area comfortable with air conditioning. There's a coffee maker and a small sink and small microwave and small refrigerator in this room. There is a pool on the second floor that is very nice and was hardly used while we were there. Another amenity is the Laundry Area in basement area was well light and maintained all 3 washer and 3 dryers we working properly and we reasonable cost to use.

We had an amazing stay in the beach view room at the Waikiki resort. Waking up to the ocean right outside our window was unforgettable—the views were absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind after a day exploring. The sound of the waves added the perfect touch. All the staff were very friendly, happy and offering assistance.
The hotel is very close to the beach and great local restaurants.
They have a game room, a pool, and laundry facilities. The buffet breakfast had many choices, including soup.
On site there is a spa treatment, excursion tours and a rental car agency.

We had a "City View" room, yet we were looking at a very rough neighborhood apartment complex across the street from our room. That is the only view of the "City" we had. Also, during our stay in the lobby, three employees (we were told), were yelling and screaming from the office (loudly) that they wanted their paychecks. It was kind of scary because one of the employees was extremely large like an NFL linebacker. I can't blame them if they were upset for not being paid, yet as a guest in the hotel, the whole scene (yelling, cussing, etc.) was uncomfortable to say the least.

The room was great, there were 3 working elevators which meant very little wait time going up or down, the laundry facilities and games room were much appreciated and utilized, as was the opportunity to grab fresh Beach Towels every day. The breakfast staff and the quality of the food was excellent and provided a great start to every day. I did notice that there was some ceiling damage, probably from water, in the hallway on the 12th floor where the plaster and paint were in need of attention. For the 11 days that we were there, nobody addressed the problem. There was also serious unsightly carpet ware in our room.(1215). Your Housekeeping staff are truly excellent and were very friendly and polite. Front Desk were also excellent. We loved the Beach View and spent hours watching those surfers trying to catch a wave. That little E-Store by the lobby was also a great place to grab a drink, laundry soap or a whatever we needed.

Many of your guests fly out at night. Your Check-Out time is 10am. This means that guests have to vacate their room perhaps 12 or more hours before flying. I believe it would be an excellent service if the SONO Hotel Group were to offer a vastly reduced rate "resting room" to late flight exiting customers. I would suggest that you dedicate a "rear-facing non-view" room for this service and offer it at $100. The final impression a customer has is often the one that draws them back.

The hotel is great value and has everything you need. Rooms are clean and common areas are in good shape. The hotel is a little dated, but fits the vibe of Honolulu. We would highly recommend getting the breakfast as it had a decent selection with coffee and fresh fruits. I am recommending this hotel to all of my friends and would stay here again.

The room is quite worn down. Bathtub is old and not of full size. Lite continental breakfast at extra cost is good. They put a twin bed mattress between two double beds with only very small spaces between the mattress and double bed which make it very difficult to to get to the double bed. We have only 4 people. I think the twin mattress should have been removed before we occupy the room.

This hotel was probably very nice long time ago. It is outdated. The bed was uncomfortable, cleaning was completed with minimum effort
The breakfast was ok, not a lot of choices but ok.
Our room had a city view which it was ok. We prefer the beach so we didn't use the pool but it looked clean.
For the price is ok we didn't spend much time there.
We were disappointed that on our last day the hotel charge $2 per luggage to hold it for us since our plane did not leave until the evening. In our experience hotels hold your luggage without charge.

If you get the partial ocean view….that’s just what it is, partial. You can only see a sliver when you lean over the balcony. The rooms are not well ventilated, kinda muggy. It served our purpose, sleeping and showering but that’s all. The common area is real nice and the staff is great!

I loved they had yoga classes at the beach every day. The yoga instructor was amazing & the hotel is 1 block from the beach. Shopping and Restaurants were all walking distance. Not too many amenities, but we were always in the beach area, so it was fine. The rooms are a little older, but super clean. Staff is very helpful and very friendly. I recommend this hotel. The price was right. 👍

The hotel was less than a block away from the beach and the main avenue where all the stores and restaurants were. The room was comfortable and had a balcony looking towards the pool. The breakfast had a good variety and it was freshly served daily. I was able to walk to the Zoo and the staff was very helpful. The onsite tour concierge was great and even with the rain I was able to schedule a lot of activities ( snorkeling with Dolphins, The Luau, Pearl Harbor, tour of the Island) and the pick up/ drop off location was near. Good hotel for a solo travelers like myself. Would recommend to others specially if is their first time in Honolulu as it was mine.
