Nice staff, fairly old hotel but do not book this if you intend to sleep. Pool party all day and late into the evening (midnight). It was impossible to sleep before my flight with the bass and noise from the pool. My room was so close to the pool. Absolutely absurd that sleeping hours aren’t protected.

Hotel is strategically located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Hotel
bar and rooms have a retro vibe that pretty cool. There is no elevator which is not an issues if your room is on the 1st or 2nd floor. If it’s on the 3rd floor it can be a safety issue trying to pull your luggage up one more flight of stairs. The stairs could benefit tremendously from some LED lighting to reduce the risk of falling down. Valet service can result in a bit of a wait to have car parked or retrieve car. All in all good stay.

Awesome location and walking distance to most things in Waikiki. Would stay here again purely for location and value for money. Pool area and bar was beautiful, and clearly the main attraction of the White Sands Hotel, some evenings quite load music would play from the pool area which could be heard upstairs in the rooms but generally quiet from 9-10pm. Room was clean and tidy on arrival. We stayed for 9 nights, and our housekeeping experience was average - we didn’t have our room cleaned in 3 days, as no one showed up to clean. This said, when we raised this issue with reception staff, our room was promptly cleaned that evening while we were out having dinner.

The grounds were not very clean. The beds were only had little very lightweight sheets and a very lightweight over blanket, not even a blanket. The rooms were clean actually, but the grounds were not clean clean and the staff was a little bit. Not sure what it was a lot of locals came in a lot of LGB Q, blah blah blah patronage.

Enjoyed this spot a lot! the rooms are roomier that the Wayfinder and some boutique hotels. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful (and they have a hard job! they are also expected to be a barista on on the side) front desk: Maygan and Sean Paul were so helpful and friendly and just nice people in general. The pool deck and bar are lively and comfortable and sunny - and they have a \"happy day\" vs HH menu and drinks from 12-6! The kitchen crew make really tasty pupus and meals! I loved the Thai Lard Wraps and the Korean Beef Taco and the Western Burger. I Didn't have anything I didn't love from that kitchen, Fun vibes, Great location! My only negative comment here is the Fabuloso ... Please dear Lord in Heaven find a better cleaning product for guests, cleaning crew, and the world. Pas malpropre, mais pas 100 % propre!
Comme les corridors sont ouverts sur l’extérieur, ça sent un peu l’humidité. Dans la chambre ce n’est pas si mal!

J’ai aimé la proximité des commerces notamment le Aloh, à un coin de rue, pour les acai bowls le matin.

Bon rapport qualité prix dans mon cas, mais un peu loin de la plage.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this hotel. Perfect location, pool was amazing, staff was incredible and helpful. Perfect spot a half block from all the main shopping and restaurants. Had a slushy machine going free for guest, which was a great way to cool off. The bar and speakeasy were so fun, food was perfect to grab a bite in between beach time and shopping. Stay here, you won’t regret it!!

You can tell they have tried to give this older place character and kitsch, which definitely has a cool vibe in theory. But the hallways were dingy and not clean (the rooms were fine), and many of the amenities have seen better days. Unfortunately the hot tub is ice cold and there is no out of order sign on it. I chose this hotel in part to soak away muscle aches after a long flight, but sadly that was not possible. Considering the resort fees you pay here, I'm not exactly sure what we are paying for, as there was nothing more than what a typical hotel would offer.

The staff were professional and efficient. I really appreciated the warm greeting after a long exhausting day, including complimentary beverages at the hotel speakeasy.

Bring your own instant coffee or tea. We stayed 5 nights and no coffee in the room. $5 at the desk. Room updates were being made during our stay so maybe be better for future guests. Rooms are small. Sheet barely fit the bed so didn't tuck in. Our balcony view was the alley....

I stayed at White Sands from March 31 to April 4, 2026. It was just my daughter and me. Overall, I would rate my stay 3 out of 5 stars.
The property is in a great location—there’s a mall about a 5-minute walk away and the beach is roughly a 12–15 minute walk. The staff is friendly, and the amenities are nice. I also appreciated the valet parking service; it was very convenient not having to worry about finding parking.
However, there were a few downsides. Every morning around 4 a.m., there was a loud beeping noise that sounded like a garbage or dumpster truck making rounds, which would wake me up. Just as I was falling back asleep, construction at a neighboring hotel would start, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest. The noise level overall was a major issue.
Additionally, the bathroom drain didn’t work well. The water drained very slowly at first, and by the third night it wouldn’t drain at all, forcing us to shower while standing in dirty water.
Overall, if you don’t mind some noise and minor maintenance issues, this can be a good place to stay, especially considering the price. I paid about $675–$695 for four nights.

The photos would have been taken on this Hotel’s best day ever. It’s located on a grotty street, the whole place seems to be covered in a layer of stickiness- booze, etc etc - the bed was clean. That’s about all I can say about it, stay here if you’re very young, on a budget, and looking for a backpacker-esque vibe.

White Sands Hotel is a wonderful little gem set in the heart of Waikiki. It's not fancy but the rooms are comfortable and there is a quaint tiki bar with swinging chairs and delicious food. The pool is small but offers comfortable loungers and other seating in a comfortable tropical surrounding. The area offers lots of restaurants, cafes and shopping very close by which makes it a perfect location for an affordable, comfortable stay.

The walls are thin and the doors slam hard. Good luck sleeping. The hot water isn't always available either. The staff are nice and the towel card is helpful. It's acceptable for its location and price but also expect to walk out to dirty streets and homeless drug addicts everywhere.

Only one of the nightstands had a lamp though; it would have been nice if they both did, so that both of us could read a book at night. A kettle in the room also would have been appreciated, because there is no free coffee in this hotel.

My family and I stayed at this boutique hotel a few times in the past and like it due to its fun atmosphere with a little pool and fun pool bar with swings you can hang out on while you get drinks and listening to music. This particular time we chose to stay here and celebrate my son 13th birthday with friends and family by the pool getting drinks and listening to music, but On this particular stay there was some extreme weather causing all the amenities to be shut down and power to the entire hotel to be off for most of the first day we were there the hotel. The hotel had no backup power so guest were given a few glow sticks to provide light for there rooms no ac. The second day was not much better weather was still overcast with some rain but the pool access to the only pool was very limited due to a event at the hotel and the pool bar also was closed too for the event and closed for the day prior to the event. so with the weather being not so great and the pool being closed the kids hung out in room for bit only to find out the tv in the room was broken and could not catch any station or stream movies off our phones which sucked to keep a bunch of kids entertained. We call the front deck they tried but couldn’t fix it. The Last day there was not much better the pool was open, pool bar was closed no music just sad vibes of stay that never happened..in the end leaving this hotel left me feeling more drained, exhausted and sad this was not a relaxing get away just expensive.

Staff is really nice and helpful allowed us to check in early. Bar and pool vibes are great and everyone seemed to enjoy the area. Only concern is the room not being cleaned well. Skid marks inside toilet bowl upon arriving, dried up roach on the door and a strong moldy scent in the room with flies. Bedding looks like it could be replaced as well.

Pick your room wisely. Had me in a king room directly above a speakeasy that plays music until 1 a.m. for two out of four nights.
Should just advertise it for people wanting to party down as it was a large room.
Housekeeping, and front desk staff, no matter what time of day, were great, and very accommodating. Tons of amenities, and clean rooms. Proximity is close to beach and shopping.

This motel is grossly misrepresented in media photos. The bar is cool and clearly a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. The accommodation spaces are filthy dirty, stained and unmaintained. The pool is ok. The location is a close walk off the main Waikiki strip, but the block between the White Sands and the strip is very smelly (garbage and dumpsters) and a popular smoking and sitting spot for unhoused locals. The room itself was musty and dirty; very musty. There was black mold in the shower tiles. Patio was unusable as it was directly over an alleyway and facing another apartment building. This is a hostel experience for Hawaiian resort prices!

$200 in valet fees, $140 in resort fees, plus a $200 hold on the card (that is still showing as a hold on my account over a day after checking out. Place had roaches. Its cute and the tiki bar is fun but the fees were more than the god damned stay at the hotel. Probably wont be back here again.
