We recently stayed at this hotel in a suite for five people. The suite itself was fine, though definitely on the smaller side for a group of five. The pool area was nice, however it gets virtually no sun, which was a bit disappointing. I’ve been to Hawaii more than 10 times and have always experienced incredible hospitality and warm, welcoming service from front desk staff at other hotels. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The woman who checked us in was rude and abrupt from the start. She had a nasty attitude during the whole check in process, and essentially seemed like she didn’t want to be at work that day. She rolled her eyes at every question we asked (which she as front desk staff should’ve explained anyway). She didn’t inform us that our room was located in a different block, and she watched us struggle to maneuver 12 bags into the elevator without offering a luggage trolley or any assistance. Her attitude felt unnecessarily cold and unwelcoming, despite us being polite and friendly. What made it more disappointing was seeing the guests next to us being warmly welcomed — amenities explained clearly, the destination fee outlined, and even complimentary drinks offered. We received none of that information or hospitality. Front desk staff set the tone for a stay, and having someone with that kind of attitude unfortunately detracts from the entire experience. I won’t be returning. Hawaii is known for its aloha spirit — I just wish we had felt it here.

Well at first I was super disappointed. I feel like Expedia is misleading as far as the room you receive at check in. We stayed in the room provided at check in for a few days. I went and chatted with the front desk and they were so kind and accommodating. The gave us a suite in the main tower with a very nice partial ocean view and a double balcony.

Staff was fabulous. Once we got to the room type that we were supposed to be in, we felt it was a great room for the price we paid. We even could see the sunset when we were in our room. Everyone was friendly, helpful and overall, great customer service. The pool does not get a lot of sun, so if you're looking for a sunny pool, it may not be a great fit. But it worked for us - we were barely there and wanted to spend time on beaches instead of the pool.

Only a few small things that made it 4/5. Housekeeping only came about twice during our 8 day stay, we had to keep calling down for towels and toilet paper. Other than that, really amazing nice well kept hotel. The common areas are gorgeous. I definitely should have made more use of the pool and the perks that come with the resort fees. But would 100% stay again. Room was great, location is perfect. Toilet paper was a bit rough to use, but a great stay overall.

In my 6 day long stay, they only cleaned the room once. I reported to the reception everyday about this but there was no support. The staff at the reception was super mean and didn't really care. Overall the worst experience I've had at a courtyard by Marriott.

Front desk was often rude, very short and pointed with their responses, and I called twice (prior to arriving on the island) and visited the front desk to request a pre-authorization form.

The two phone calls, I was promised an email, never received. The first time I went in, gave the front desk person the email for it to be sent. She was EXTREMELY rude and insisted it would be sent, never received.

Second time I went in I tried to ask again and she (same person) rudely explained that “we have the card on file when you booked so that’s all you need”…weird, because every other hotel requires it since it was for 5 rooms. I couldn’t even change the names on the rooms because “she was busy”…

The overall experience sucked and I’ll probably not use that property again for anything!

I went into this reservation with low expectations cause previous reviews have been so bad. Overall, it was fine, but the staff at the front desk did seem not overly excited to help anybody. We had to wait two hours to check in when we got there because something was wrong with the “system“. We were put in the second tower, which only had one elevator and so there was always a long wait for the elevator, which was sometimes inconvenient. Our room was fine. We had to ask for bedding for the sofa bed and that took a while to come at night. The bathroom was a really strange design. There’s no barrier between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, so the floor is always really wet. Also, there’s basically only the basin and a small counter around that with three people sharing a bathroom. It was difficult to find room to put everything. The laundry machines weren’t working and no one could ever pick up the phone at the front desk and there was always a long line, but it did eventually get fixed since we were counting on washing clothes while we were there because my son was in a sports tournament all weekend. Overall, it was, I would say very average and nothing like a typical Marriott courtyard stay and certainly didn’t seem worthy of the Bonvoy brand.

Room didn’t match photos—old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Dirty towels, no fresh toiletries, and multiple hidden fees (valet charged $70), which cut into our activity budget. Key failed late at night and staff told us to wait 45 min despite having kids; maintenance said it was a low battery. I’ve lived in Waikiki and was embarrassed by this experience. Not recommended.

Our balcony sliding door was broken-unable to lock. The sink was falling apart-handle to turn on water. We addressed the situation, staff offered to fix it. They only addressed the door and it was still broken-temporary fix. By the time this was all done we were almost finished with our trip before they offered us to move rooms. Overall stay was ok, mostly liked it for its location.

Was good for the value, valet parking nice, though very expensive. The problem we had with the property was we were told housekeeping every 2 days but a refresh available daily, our room was cleaned once in the 7 days we were there, we had to ask for towels twice and toilet paper. When they did come to clean they didn’t take dirty towels and didn’t wipe anything down or replace any amenities. Don’t have a garbage bag either.

Our stay was extremely disappointing. At check in, our room did not have towels or bedding for the sofa bed. It took three requests before they were delivered around 11:00pm. The bathroom sink was clogged and, despite two service requests, was not repaired for almost two days, leaving us without a usable sink.

Housekeeping was especially frustrating. After requesting cleaning three times and calling the front desk to express my disappointment, the room was finally cleaned only after I personally stopped a housekeeper as she was leaving the floor. During our entire week long stay, the room was cleaned only once. On two other occasions, housekeeping came in only to change two towels. Although the staff was polite, service consisted mostly of empty promises. The room was not very clean to begin with, and by around 4:00pm it began to smell strongly of sewage. I had to close the bathtub drain and sink stopper to prevent the odor from overtaking the room.

We stayed in room 653 in the second building. The air conditioning did not work well. We left the balcony door open for airflow, but outside noise became unbearable starting around 4:30am due to roosters and garbage trucks.

I am giving this property two stars only because the staff was friendly and the location is good. I am surprised it has a 7.4 guest rating. At nearly $400 per night, this hotel is not worth the price and clearly needs better maintenance. We would not stay here again.

Heater broke in the hot tub the 2nd day of our stay. Was not able to enjoy the pool or the hot tub the rest of the time. Housekeeping only came every other day. Ran out of pool towels every day. Was told to buy some at the store and would be reimbursed by the front desk. Conveniently located close to beach, restaurants and stores. Got coffee and bagels in the shop in the lobby every morning. Big plus. It’s a busy area. Partying until 3am. Very noisy. Rooms are clean but very small. Needed refill for body wash and shampoo.

Horrible experience!! Our room was not freshened up till the fifth day of our 7 day stay. The Jacuzzi heater broke after our first night there. At one point I couldn’t get any fresh shower towels, so I had to go to the pool and obtain pool towels just so we could shower.
I kept requesting from front desk for three days straight for our room to be freshened up with fresh sheets, towels, soap, and toilet paper. No one ever came by to assist us so I had to keep going to the lobby to retrieve whatever items I needed. Our room was smelling from the buildup of wet towels, so I started putting the towels outside the front door. Also trash in our room was built up for five days. Not Marriott quality !! It was terrible!!

The building is older, and while some renovation efforts are evident, the rooms, hallways, and entrance areas are not maintained to a satisfactory standard. Housekeeping services are minimal; while garbage is removed, little additional cleaning appears to be done. The hotel’s location is convenient (you must walk 5-10 minutes to the beach), but it is quite noisy. You get what you paid.

The lobby and common areas were amazing. Our room was super run down, not the cleanest, and the 5AM workers are LOUD!! The pool is so nice and has a good vibe, but really shaded. The bar and people working it are wonderful. It's a very walkable place and the beach is really close. Servicable place, but didn't reach my expectations. Our suite wasn't what is advertised.

waited 4.5 hours to check in with no explanation, then was told my reserved room was gone. front desk staff was rude and confrontational. room had zero soundproofing, an ancient leaking AC blowing directly onto the bed, and a fridge that only cools for two hours. NOISY! Room was OK. I paid for a King room. I was exhausted when I got there and they wanted to make me wait four hours to check in. So, I paid extra for an early check in and when I got to the room it was a double bed! Also a very small room next to the elevator making is extremely noisy. I was pretty busy the entire time so I did not go to the desk and complain. The hot tub is HOT and that is very good!

We had to change rooms three times. The first time because we did not get the king size bed we paid for, it was a double (11th Floor). They move us to a room with a king size bed (2nd Floor). When we returned from exploring Honolulu later that evening, we found that our shower did not work. They moved us to a third room (6th Floor) and there were no power outlets near the bed so I could not use my CPAP machine until the next day, when maintenance came and brought an extension cord. The staff was very helpful each time we had a problem with room. The hotel is in a good location if you don’t have a vehicle.

Nice hotel. Coffee shop, store, restaurant all on the main floor. Located in a walkable area, close to the beach and many shops and restaurants. Only have valet parking and it's $61 per night. The miniature golf they offer is not accessible as the valet park cars on it. :( We came back to our room on our 2nd day to find our door open. Apparently the lock engaged on its own causing the door to open. They were very accommodating in getting us into another room (when I thought someone broke in and didn't want the lock to do this again). They told my husband that this happens. I hope they fix this issue, as it is a large deterrent of me staying here again. Otherwise, it a very nice hotel.

Had a great stay here during our week in Hawaii! The room was very clean and perfect for what we needed. A comfy bed, free coffee in the room, very nice shower and good hotel amenities. Matt at the front desk works very hard and was amazing to us all week. We really appreciated his hospitality and friendliness.

The room was great, the only complaint I have is the amount of noise that comes from the single pane glass doors for the balcony and the hallway. The doors are quite thin. Unfortunately the music and talking by the pool/hotel bar was quite loud most nights but can be overlooked as it ended promptly around 10pm when the pool closed. We will definitely be staying here again next time we come visit.

The hotel is at a great location and offers an affordable stay without compromising on any amenities. We especially loved the complimentary towels and sunscreen offered on site. Didn't get to take advantage of the free rentals at Twin Fin or the GoPros they offer but will make sure to use them next time!

I’m disappointed in the location. I would have believed a Marriott world better amenities and welcoming. If it wasn’t for the fact it was Hawaii, this is the worst. TV didn’t work on my last day of my stay. The shower was not big enough for a 6’4 individual along with the small bathroom together: I felt claustrophobic. Hair on the floor and the door looks like it could be pried open with little or no resistance. Not what I was expecting or used to. Disappointed.

Pool was lovely. Shower was nice. However, some things worth mentioning. Rooms were super small, could barely get into it with bags. Doors were wooden and rotting apart. Hard to open. Our toilet wasn’t clean. Coffee maker didn’t work initially. They were doing construction the entire time we were there, so while trying to sleep, you constantly heard rattling and power tools. For over $240 a night it didn’t seem worth it to me. Probably would go somewhere else next time.

I booked and payed thru 3'rd party like always but at the check-out I was asked to pay over $100 per night which was not communicated up front to me, so there's Transparency issue.

I don't like surprise charges. Being a Bonvoy Titanium elite for many years I'm not happy this time and do not recommend and won't come back to stay at this location.

loud and outdated. the paint in the bathroom was chipping off the walls, i could hear every sound from outside even with the balcony door shut, the balcony locks were janky but passable, and the shower was all around unpleasant. the bathroom was tiny and the shower was just about big enough to stand in. the soap dispensers were poorly secured. both the body wash and shampoo containers had fallen off the wall, and the body wash was completely empty. I asked for it to be refilled, but was instead given a tiny container of soap enough for a single shower. there is no complimentary breakfast or coffee in the morning. staff are appropriately kind and exactly what i expect from a Courtyard Marriott property. there are plenty of tourist shops nearby and multiple bus stops. the main door is locked after 9 pm. the hotel is fine, but not worth the price

My rating is more to the building and cleanliness; not the staff, the staff was amazing! But if you’re looking for a nice, clean hotel this is not it unfortunately. The shower floors were dirty with hairs and the wooden bathroom door was rotting away so disgusting. The walls were dirty in the room too. Even hallways to the room was not well kept.

I think they’re updating, but I booked the Marriot because usually their hotels are so nice and this one was not.

So if you’re looking for clean don’t book here; but if you’re looking for close to bars and cleanliness doesn’t matter to you then this place would be great for you!

Our room was clean & efficient. We enjoyed the view from our 7th floor balcony (street facing). The location is great, very centralized & we found it easy to walk, Uber & get around.
The pool was under renovation. Construction taking place was managed well by staff & didn't interfere with guests.
We would recommend this property as a great stay for folks looking for a convenient 'base of operations' to explore Waikiki & Oahu at an affordable price.

The Courtyard Waikiki was fine for our purpose of being in convenient location and met our expectation of comfortable beds and cleanliness. We were not told in adv that the main pool was under construction, nor was the initial front desk clerk forthcoming re us being able to use the pool at their sister hotel 1 mile away, which was very nice. Walls pretty thin, able to hear neighbors. Luckily the a/c blocked out most of the noise. $35 daily destination fee seemed steep for what we got plus the place for the amenities was a solid 20min walk from the hotel.

We weren’t happy with our overall stay here. The onsite pool is under construction! I wish they would have notified us or at least mentioned this on their website as this was the main amenity my family was interested in. We didn’t find out about this until we checked in. This was our second time staying here. The first time was phenomenal, which is what prompted us to stay again. Unfortunately, we won’t return. The staff were professional and friendly, but communication was lacking. The pool was shut down the morning after we arrived for renovations. While there was a much smaller and less desirable pool available on site, it definitely dampened our vacation mood. If there had been any communication regarding the main pool not being available during our stay, I would have booked elsewhere. After long days of hiking and exploring the island, my wife and children wanted to relax at the pool. This wasn’t really possible as the only available pool was small and continuously occupied by teenagers who were constantly being inappropriate with their language and touching each other. We were almost at the end of our 8 day trip when we learned from another guest, rather than hotel staff, that we could use our hotel key to access another hotel’s pool about 10 minutes away walking. The lack of communication was frustrating. On top of that, for the first four or five days, I had to call for housekeeping at the end of each day when we’d return to our room. I honestly thought we’d return to fresh linens or at least clean towels so we could shower, something that’s typically taken care of by housekeeping in the middle of the day, but no. This was just not a good experience. I may one day give them another try, but it will not be on our next trip.

There are things to like and hate about being located in the center of the price gouging tourist center. Activities to find at almost any hours. Target and drug store close by. Lots of things within walking distance no car needed. If you are on a budget plan to be hungry, average meal was $25 weather breakfast, lunch or dinner. Room was only cleaned once during our 4 night stay. Had to request towels. Was a good intro trip to the Islands.

Hotel only has valet parking which is $61 a night. That is not listed in the extra fees for check in or anywhere that would expect to find added fees upon arrival. The hotel pointed out that it is listed under the amenities as an added bonus. Not quite a bonus when there’s no other parking option provided.

Expedia didn’t note that the property was doing remodeling. So when you get there after checking in they hit you with, we're doing dome work on the 11th floor and up. So you hear drilling, hammering, talking and tool dropping from 9 am to 4 pm. Then the carpet smelled old and mildew. The basic room is like a closest. You can barely move in there. The pictures on the website are very deceiving.
The staf was nice and friendly. The most fun is in the BAR! The bartender is the BEST!!
