Door had to be shut hard in order for it to lock. Air conditioner stopped working right. Our air conditioner started acting up the second week of our stay and still was not replaced.Was given 3 small bath mats to soak up water which flooded a good portion of the room… the water flooded under the bed. Maintenance stated that our air conditioner needed to be replaced and called ours dead. It never was replaced… the tubing to pull air in fell out of the side of the building… they need to advertise self service such as throwing out own trash, getting sheets changed not daily nor towels

Make sure the price expedia quotes you includes the cleaning fee. Expedia claims the price you pay online includes all fees. This was not the case with us and we were unexpectedly told that we had to pay a $159 cleaning fee upon arrival to our room.

The room itself was old and had a lot of issues, - the mini fridge, the tv, the wifi did not work. I got help getting the wifi but it is clearly a very old hotel. I was told the entire building had some new tv issue where it would only work with a new Smart Tv, but I am not really sure that is true.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was air conditioned.
The view was spectacular though!

Staff was very nice. The room was clean, bathroom kind of small like in Asia. Great location in Waikiki, everything is close by. Easy ways to rent a car, easy way to book a Luau, sunset dinner in the ocean.

The pictures were not the room we had, we paid extra for the sz. of the room including a couch. But the views were the best!!! Internet service was aweful and the small table was missing the glass in the middle & only 1 chair, but the staff were friendly & accomodating as they could be since these rooms are privately owned. We paid extra but got less!!!

The view from the shared sundeck was amazing and the staff was great and that was about the only great thing about this place.we did not have tv or internet for a week like they say they provide. They do not service your room so switch out towles bed sheets ect. You can get new bed sheets every 4 days if you go and get them as well as towels they charge a 200 cleaning feee. Dishes were dirty so we did not use the dishes. Parking is not a guarantee and expensive the room is nothing like the pictures they post. The bed was hard as a rock and squeeked every time you move. The ac was in one \"room\" and if you had the curtains closeed the rest of the room did not get cold

The location was convenient and the staff were welcoming. The room, however, was not very clean and there were no services provided. Too much noise from outside while the property charged hidden fees as well, and different fees than what was communicated at the booking stage. A form of deceit there. The checking out time was changed without notice and were asked to leave earlier too. Not the best experience but the room offers independence which was appreciated.

The plus it was close to Waikiki Beach: 5 minute walk. The cons- no service to the room- no cleaning. Could only change our bath and beach towels every two days. The room has a ‘balcony window’ but sealed shut. Also extremely thin as if they were open and could hear every car, truck, and motorcycle drive by. I booked the room because it has a kitchenette, however every thing in the kitchen is old and a plug in heat burner for the stove. I chose to eat out instead use the dirty, outdated kitchen. The only thing that worked well was the air conditioning and the shower. The bed had an old mattress and older bedding. The entire room looked like a 50 year old version of the photo online and was disappointing.

Upon arrival, it was fine. We checked into the room first they try to give us a room that was hot. The AC was not working. She offered us another room where it was cold. We settled in. We go downstairs to grab something to eat. We go back upstairs and there is roaches here and there we kill them and go on about our night. We settle and put some belongings away. We go down to the beach. We’re gone for a few hours upon a return when we enter the room. The room is infested with roaches not one or two like the first time rather 10 or 20 we’re trying to kill them all but there’s just so many they’re everywhere the food that we bought are belongings on the bed on the floors and the wall. We call Castle to inform them of the roach infestation in the room. The representative told me that he would have somebody contact me. After waiting for about 20 minutes, nobody ever called. To the front desk at Waikiki grand Hotel. and informed them of what was going on. They switched us rooms, but the room they gave us was an extra room for the cleaning service. They had their at the hotel so before we could get settled in, they had to move out all the buggies and cleaning supplies so that we could sleep there. The room was clean, however very outdated with dirty carpet not to mention the reason why I booked this room.( the first room) was because it had a full kitchen. The room that they switched us to did not have a full kitchen nor a full refrigerator it did come with the hot plate.

Parking is a commodity so make sure to call the property and book that immediately otherwise options are scarce and very expensive. The zoo is right across the street and most restaurants are pretty good.

CASTLE at waikiki grand

Location is great. Right across from the zoo. However, there were issues from the start.
1. If you want a parking space, you'll need to reserve it on a different website from the hotel.
https://www.wghparking.com. Make sure you book it well before your trip. I didn't know this and had to find street parking the first night.
2. If you're booking a CASTLE rsvn, you'll check in at the Waikiki Grand's front desk first. Then you'll be directed to rm 503 to finish the check in. This was a first for me. There the Castle employees will give you your rm # and key code.
3. Pictures on Hotels.com were NOT accurate, at all! City view w/ kitchenette? Umm ok. But where was the couch? Luckily, there was a CAMPING COT hidden by the bathroom or else my son would've had to sleep on the floor.
4. Speaking of the floor. Still had sand on the floor when we arrive. Dirty.
5. If you need the room dark in order to sleep, forget it. The \"curtains\" were nothing more than sewing material with Hawaiian print on it. All the lights from the walkway illuminated the room at night. It was so bright, I had to cover my face with the blanket just to sleep.
6. The corner of the bed is very close to the kitchen cabinet. Maybe a16 inch clearance? I ended up whacking my shin on the wooden bed frame and ended up with a bleeding cut due to it.
7. Make sure you rotate the TV back against the kitchen wall before you go to bed. Or at least remember to duck.
You get what you pay for. Beware

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Castle! The room came equipped with a view of the ocean, Diamond Head, and the Honolulu Zoo. We were walking distance from the ABC store and Waikiki beach and about 1/2 a mile from the International Marketplace for some light shopping and an array of restaurants facing the beach. The AC was amazing and came in clutch especially at night. The kitchenette was well equipped for cooking, and the room came with snorkel gear, beach chairs, and a beach umbrella. I feel like it was well worth staying here and would definitely recommend this to anyone I know.

I reserved an \"ocean view\" room...the Ocean view was from the lanai looking around the wall, or through a mirror on the opposite wall--more than a bit misleading. I was a late arrival, but the check-in for this property evidently closed at 11:00 P.M. We were able to get in by checking in with the neighboring property, but they weren't sure which parking spot I'd be assigned. Since everything was electronic, all of the relevant info could have been sent beforehand.

Surprise cleaning fee $159 up front! Unknown to me. Restaurant/bar is 21+ only (did not advertise that before I booked) I have 8?yr old child with me. Also pool was not open due to construction (also not disclosed before I booked). Then was asked to move to another room shortly after settling in. Evening front desk clerk Jonathan was very rude and out of line!!
I actually rate my experience a big fat zero! Also was not disclosed that the var Hulas is a gay bar!

This was our second stay here we had a great experience the first time but after this stay we have vowed never again. The location is wonderful but that is about it. The room wasn't the cleanest the bedspread was gross not sure if that was even washed recently and since you only get clean towels every other day you have to use the same washcloth for two days. We even looked at moving to another hotel in the area for our stay. The room was not even close to what is being depicted online.

There was mold in the showers The rooms were furnished with second hand furniture. The swimming pool was too dirty for swimming. And there is no room cleaning service. The room was small but liked that it was filled with all the essentials like scuba gear, boogie board, books and stuff for the beach. Didnt like that they wanted to charge a cleaning fee of almost $300 upon check in for a room that noone cleaned until after we left. We negotiated it and got it reduced. Had to go to another room for clean towels and stuff for the bathroom. Weird. They should bring it.

Building is run down. The castle grand is an older section of the Waikiki Grand that is condo owned.. Our choice said it was 400sq ft and showed ok room pics. Trouble is nothing on the web site matched the actual room itself.. It was around 260 sqft, very tiny bath with an almost non existent sink.. Had a double bed wedged between a column in the middle of the room and a wall.. Only way in was to climb over the end of the bed.. And the bed was like sleeping in a folding taco shell. No drapes only broken window shades that allowed the night light in the room making it hard to sleep.. 1001, do not take this room....

We chose the property primarily for the location and walkability of the area. The property itself is a little dated but clean. Friendly staff. Loved the location, staff were very friendly. Room decor was a bit \"tired\", but clean and comfortable.
Booked through 3rd party and did not get room promised. Luckily I had printed receipt when asked to pay a higher amount. I paid extra to have balcony and tub, our room had neither. Although my spouse's arthritis would have appreciated the tub, our windows had much better view than \"city view\" balcony rooms. We were also at end of outdoor corridor, the quietest area available.
Park & Zoo across the street, beach one short block away, Bus routes within a block. Would gladly refer friends stay here...but book through the property if feasible.

The location is very convenient and close to Waikiki beach and many food options shopping. Staff was very kind. Room seemed very clean, ac worked great. The view was very beautiful, and the patio was a nice plus. We were able to get free parking a couple of blocks down, which the staff recommended. If you don’t mind walking I think it’s a great option! Be aware that there is a nightclub below so if you are sensitive to noise that may be something to note, but it didn’t bother me! One thing I do wish was that maybe an email could have been sent out before hand to explain the check in process a bit more because it was a little confusing at first with the desk being located on the fifth floor, but again nothing to really complain about! I was even able to get early check in which was great! Had a lovely time! I think it is a reasonable option for the price!

I have stayed at various rooms at this property. Most Rooms are privately owned and rented different ways. This room was this first without an ocean view. It was larger too. Nice kitchen, microwave. Was short on utensils. Rug was worn but ok. LOVE the 1/2 block to beautiful swimming beach and other water activities. Steps to many different places to eat. Frequent buses to almost everywhere. Will stay again.

Loved the location! Right across from the zoo and at the end of the city. Beautiful beach is right there.
The chair that is in kitchen area was a wicker chair and had a cushion covering a good size hole. The mattress made us role into the middle, very uncomfortable. There was no dresser to put your clothes. We had to live out of our suitcases on the floor.

I stayed here for my honeymoon and was inconvenienced the whole time. We booked a nicer room with a better view in our package and they gave us a dirty small room. We did not ask for and they did not let us know either that we would be getting a horrible room. We had to stay there for two days when it cut into our honeymoon time so two out of the five days, we had to stay in a bad room and when we moved to the new room, it was slightly better, but it was still dirty. It was still rundown, and it did not match the pictures at all. We also paid for parking there cause we got a rental car and the manager kept parking in our space other people kept parking in our space. It was supposed to be assigned parking but every time we had to call the front desk when we’d really not wanna worry about that and it was such an inconvenience the whole time we were there we asked if we can get a refund or refunded the difference of what we paid and they just laughed in our face and we were so disappointed when we first got there cause the room looks so rundown, and it did not match the photos

I recommend staying at the Castle Waikiki. I love the location and the room rate is very affordable for those on a budget. Castle staff even recommended where to park for free on the street near the hotel which saved me the $30-$40/day hotel parking rate. Definitely will stay at the Grand Waikiki by Castle again the next time I'm in Honolulu.

Fair place for the price. Very nice staff

Curtains let the light from the other building outside go through so it’s wasn’t dark at night and we weren’t able to have a good night sleep. Coffee was provided for only one morning and NO tea. We were a couple and we had only one chair and no table for the kitchenette. Not a lot of lighting either only two little lamp on the night stand. Staff was really kind to us tho and available.

Location, location, location. We paid extra for ocean view and well worth it. Since it's a condo, no real service.
