The hotel building is small but our room is quite spacious. Room is also kept very clean. We can see partial ocean view but that's fine. The hotel is not at the center of everything but close enough. I'd say it's a very nice 3-star hotel. However one thing I don't quite understand is its price. It's lower than the neighbouring 5-star hotels' but by just a little bit. How bad do those hotels need to be, to be priced similarly? I think this hotel definitely benefits a lot from the unusually high review scores. At least they won the business from me. But when I looked at the nearby shinny brand new Crystalbrook hotels and Double Tree, I did regret.
One thing good about the Plaza hotel is that it has self-service laundry. However it was less useful than I expected. There are only two washers and two dryers. When there's someone ahead of you, you need to allocateore time for completing the task. It's OK, but the hotel also has the policy of closing the laundry at 10pm. On the last day of our stay this policy brought us headache. We accumulated quite some clothes to wash and dry, say two loads. We started task right after dinner. However due to one set of machines is used by others, our second load didn't get the chance. The staff refused to extend the hours citing security reasons. I understand and respect that, but just wanted everyone who wants to use their laundry to ne aware, that it might not be as convenient as you would think.

The shower was terrible, no water pressure. The rooms are not sound proofed. We could hear the bathroom of the room above us being used. The staff were very friendly, and it was nice to have the room serviced daily. We had no trouble with car parking even though there were not many spaces. Location was great, close enough to walk everywhere.

Our room is very clean and very comfortable, serviced everyday. We get fresh towels everyday, beds are done everyday, we were very thankful. Very close to everything. Public transpo is very easy $1 return trip everywhere we go, no need for car. Lots of restaurants near the hotel. Walk along the esplanade is the best thing everyday, hotel is overlooking the esplanade, only few steps away. Our stay was very convenient. Price is very good for the location. Peter(owner) and all the staff were very nice and very helpful. Place is well maintained. Close to all the attractions. Definitely will book again. Very convenient to everything we needed. Thank you.

This property is in an ideal location. It is close to all the Cairns restaurants but just far enough away to be much quieter than most. It is on the Esplanade and opposite the amazing Muddy's playground area which provides hours of free entertainment for young children. The staff were all helpful and friendly, with special mention going to liv, for her friendly and helpful service.We had a room on the top floor facing the Cairns waterfront and we enjoyed watching all the boats/ships coming and going. I probably shouldn't be sharing this hidden gem as we will definitely want to be returning in the future!

New pool area was great and staff were lovely. It feels like they are doing their best with an old building. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Walkable distance from the shops and Muddy’s playground and cafe is right outside if you can’t be bothered walking. Top tip: great food in muddy’s but be prepared for the wait as it gets very busy.

This was our 9th trip to Cairns and the first time staying at the Cairns Plaza Hotel, which is by far out favourite place to stay now. It is located in a quieter end of the esplanade which we really enjoyed but still well within walking distance of downtown Cairns. The hotel was very clean, staff were exceptionally helpful, and the room was comfortable and very spacious.

Ideal location on the Esplanade in Cairns, sea view amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy parking and close enough to walk to numerous dining options and attractions. Apartment clean and well furnished.

Only a couple of things needed to improve our stay: air conditioning was a bit noisy sometimes at night. An ottoman would been useful in the lounge instead of the large coffee table.

Would recommend this hotel to others!

My only criticism is the noise you can hear from the other rooms directly above and either side. Our first night it sounded like the people in the room on one side of us were right outside our door. It was that loud.

\"Mutton dressed up as lamb\". Older hotel in good location. Cheap reno furniture, fully priced, no hassles in or out. Clean and recently painted? Clearly more of a tourist family place, not competitive with major chains adjacent which are same price. Noisy neighbour late at night, door slamming in narrow corridor.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Plaza Hotel, our one-bedroom unit was well-appointed, had comfortable bed and nice view. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also took advantage of the pool which was an added bonus. The Plaza is situated within walking distance of good eateries, shopping and attractions.

Little bit noisy, we could hear the lift pinging every few minutes and sometimes seconds. A lot of noise coming from other rooms and other floors, and outside (sirens mostly). So not much in the way of soundproofing.
About a 5-10 minute walk from the majority of the bars and restaurants. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stored our suitcases before we left on the last day, and made sure we knew we could use the shower room to freshen up before our flight. All in all not a bad hotel at all.

We had a great stay as a family of four with two young children. The 24-hour front desk was very convenient, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room with a separate living area and a bedroom with a king-size bed, and with a crib and an extra bed added, there was plenty of space and it was very comfortable.

Although the bathroom and carpet were a bit dated, everything was clean and we didn’t find it inconvenient at all. The location was quiet yet within walking distance to the city center, which was perfect. The hotel also has a pool, and there's a playground just outside—great for kids.

Overall, it was a comfortable and pleasant stay at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

There is a lip and step onto the balcony, especially coming back inside where you step over the lip and then odwn as the room is lower than the balcony. Would be concerned about an older person. We put a chair there to remind us to be careful.

View from room was great. Location to food and lagoon also excellent.

Didn't use facilities as we were only there overnight.

A great reasonably priced property in an area in walking distance to the restaurants, Esplanade and harbour. A fantastic children's playground across the road and bbq facilities and next door to Riley Crystalbrook. A lovely little pool area with sun lounges. 24 hour reception. There are a few different people Manning reception and some are friendlier than others The only issue is the hallways echo a lot when people are moving between their room and the lift. Rooms are cleaned daily and supplies replenished if you need this done. Would stay here again

Good enough location towards the end of the esplanade (opposite to where most of the life is but probably only 15 walk along the board walk). Lovely staff who gave recommendations and organised taxi for us.
Room is getting a little worn but grand if you’re out all day. The windows are single glazed and we were woken one night by a couple having a drunken row (not the hotels fault!).

We stay here twice a year in a suite and love the location, It is opposite the Esplanade and very close to restaurants and a supermarket. The only drawback is lack of storage in the kitchenette. Parking is readily available and the pool area is very nice

Pros: Staff is available 24/7 and super friendly and helpful. My unit was super spacious. Beds and pillows were comfy. The pool area is clean and well maintained. The view from the balconies is gorgeous. Location is right by the esplanade so perfect to walk/exercise and you can get to the Lagoon area in 15 mins.
Cons: the walls are paper-thin so you can hear lots of noise coming from the hallway and neighbours.

Excellent stay at Cairns Plaza Hotel for a short family trip to Cairns. Wonderful city and sea views from our balcony which was perfect for enjoying a drink after a day of exploring. Comfortable beds and helpful staff, and the pool was a highlight. Only downside was awkward layout/door placement of bathroom which meant only one person could be in the bathroom at a time.

We loved our stay at the Cairns Plaza Hotel! Our apartment was spacious and clean, with a fantastic view and huge balcony. The location was perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room had good amenities for a long stay, including a mini fridge, microwave, and kettle. Our only major complaint was the lack of an in-room safe. You can store valuables in the front desk safe, but they’re not individual safety deposit boxes like I’ve used in other hotels. Minor suggestions for improvement include adding a toaster and stating on the welcome sheet that ice is available at the front desk. Overall, we highly recommend the Cairns Plaza Hotel and would happily return!

Very nice medium-sized hotel on The Esplanade about 3 blocks out of Downtown Cairns. Location is perfect. appears to be recently renovated, large room, comfortable bed, good WIFI and large flatscreen TV. Very helpful front desk staff and wonderful new pool.
