The room was in good condition. The staff was friendly, informative, and courteous. Very quiet and comfortable room. The aesthetic is modern and beautiful with lots of seating areas.The rooms are not ideal for takeaway food. There's a hidden gem rooftop restaurant (Oaks &Vine) which offers delicious food options, the wait staff are very professional and courteous, and has the best views of Cairns. Any guest staying longer than 2 nights will realize you're basically paying for the location. This hotel offers basic lodging necessities. There's a no-housekeeping option which can be ok for very short stays but longer than 3 days seems a bit unhygienic. Otherwise, the guest must pay for daily housekeeping at $30/day. No laundry services here. The pillows are not that comfortable and extras are not available. Standard minibar offerings but no complimentary water. This is not typical of 4-star hotels; it's 3-star at best (by US standards). I would caution solo female travelers that the hotel is safe but shares the same plaza with nearby restaurants and Night Market. There is no hotel pool but the esplanade (public) lagoon is directly outside the entrance which can be fun for guests with children. The hotel is in walking distance to the Marina for any GBR tours, the Night Markets, and Cairns shopping centers/mall. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to guests for shorter stays or to those who will be out/away most of the day. Decent experience.

Hotel was very convenient near the harbor, restaurants and parks. We were in Cairns to see the barrier reef and the hotel was 3 minutes away from the harbor. The rooms were excellently appointed. It’s in a great location right in the heart of the city entertainment area. The room was absolutely stunning and the staff were great. The only slight negative is that we were on level 4 and the rooftop bar was quite loud until after 10pm and then the set up for breakfast (assumption) started about 5.30am.

We had a small issue at check in that was quickly resolved (leaking fridge had caused the carpet to get wet and smelly). We were immediately moved to another room that was great! Room had limited USB outlets so remember to bring your power converter for any North American style power cords.

Hotel location is awesome if you want to be right in the centre of all the action. Tons of restaurants, easy walking to shopping, stores, the list goes on. The area has a great vibe, the night market is just down the street, boardwalk and ocean right across.

Hotel rooftop patio is great for drinks anytime of day. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food. Overall a great hotel that we would stay at again!

This is a great choice right in the heart of the promenade area. Lagoon is literally steps away out front, tons of restaurants all around. Convenience store just around corner and short walk to big Woolworths. Room was comfortable and well designed (we got the deluxe with two twins) with a nice separate sitting area and table/chairs. Good value for money and lovely staff!

Would highly recommend. ALL staff were lovely and helpful, however, the staff in the restaurant were above and beyond helpful and gracious (in particular, Sara, our waitress made us feel so welcome we felt part of the Oaks family). We had a wheelchair accessible room, and although compact (hotel room) it catered for my mobility issues to the highest degree - dare I say, designed by someone with a disability perhaps? - and it was far superior to other hotels we've stayed in with larger rooms - none I've experienced (over many years) have done it better than Oaks on the Esplanade in Cairns! Well done, and keep up the great work! Would love to return one day :) 5 stars!!

My stay at Oaks was great, perfect location, close to everything, and the rooftop bar is awesome. The room was a tad small but for myself and my 5 year old boy it served its purpose. However a microwave would have been perfect, you get a nespresso coffee pod machine and no way to heat up the milk that's in the fridge! But I found the staff very welcoming and even gave a couple of colouring sets to my boy which is a nice touch. Would definitely stay again.

i found the staff hard to understand.
i sat at an unreserved with my wine and was asked to move to another table as it was apparently taken, yet no reserve sign on it. i left and had dinner ElseWare!!

Great location, quiet room

Overall, nice stay! Hotel is centrally located, very convenient for reef tours, esplanade, bars and restaurants. Rooms come at different service levels, etc. Ours looked “out” onto an internal wall, which turned out to be great in terms of noise. Super quiet room! Our room also came with no housekeeping, which seems to be a popular option in Australia. This means that you have to restock your own room at the front desk/ reception. Other than this, room was in great condition! Would recommend hotel!

Ant-infested dump and fraudulent charges

I think this genuinely may have been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel.

I booked a 3-night stay. I didn’t see the room properly until midnight, at which point I found thousands of tiny little ants all over my room, and disgusting unidentified stains all over the bedsheets hidden underneath the duvet.
I wasn’t able to go elsewhere at midnight despite phoning probably every hotel in Cairns, so they found me another room which was clean enough, and I left the next morning to the promise of a refund of 2 nights of my stay.
This was not the end of the saga. It later turned out that they had taken 2 large payments from my account for no reason. They refunded one of these, as well as the original refund for the unused nights, but I am still yet to receive the second back. It is pending in my bank account, the hotel said they couldn’t find it, and they haven’t responded to my email. Overall, this hotel took close to 3x the original cost of the stay, essentially emptying my bank account. The entrance was also a popular spot for people taking drugs - not to pass judgement on people in terribly unfortunate life circumstances, but as a woman alone it felt very unsafe having large groups of people yelling and lunging at me whenever I entered and left.

Great room with a beautiful view over the trees looking out at the esplanade. The room was spotless, we choose the option not to have daily cleaning - but were offered towels if we needed.
The location was amazing - centre of The Esplanade. The night markets were a few shops down. McDonalds was located at the front of the building. And everything else was a short walk away.
Only negative was being on the 4th floor the intermittent noises from the rooftop bar/restaurant went from about 6am-10pm. If your a light sleep I'd suggest asking from a room on level 3 - but then you'll lose the beautiful view.
Overall I'd recommend the Oaks for its amazing location and new well appointed rooms.

Room as advertised as 'Executive'. To me an Executive would be above standard rooms. What we got was a standard room, we had an accessible room which had a larger bathroom but not much else. I would prefer a descriptive word other than executive for the room we had, it was definitely a standard room and not much else. There was also a drainage problem and the smell was putrid when we arrived and worse during the night. We had planned on staying another night on our return from the north but cancelled. Gave our feedback to reception on checkout but have received no further communication. Would not stay here again. One positive was the location.

Location

You can’t beat the oaks for location in Cairns. It’s right over the road from the Esplanade lagoon and in easy walking distance of the marina, shops, pubs, restaurants etc. The roof top restaurant has amazing views too. Room was modern, comfortable and clean.

We appreciated the convenient location and courteous staff (Rob and Emma were both excellent!). However there wasn't space for our open suitcases for two international travelers. We literally were forced to leave an open suitcase on the floor and scoot around it from one side of the room to the other. We didn't choose a view room but it was very expensive for our view of an ugly alleyway and cramped space.

We stayed beginning September 1st 2023 for 6 nights. I really enjoyed staying at the Oaks Cairns Hotel. The room was very nice with a great view. The bathroom was spacious, clean, stylish and highly functional. Even though we had a no housekeeping room, the housekeeping staff were very warm and kind. They always greeted us warmly, and were constantly working on keeping the public areas clean and fresh. There was even an engineer working on the entry doors one day, and always greeted us as we came and left. The front desk staff assisted us getting multiple cabs and were pleasant to work with. When we checked in, the lady that helped us was pleasant and informative. When we were checked in and waiting at the elevator to go to our room the other lady at the desk laughed at me behind my back (Don't think I did not notice). I don't think it is funny to be very polite and enthusiastic. It was poor form in my opinion. I did not let her actions cloud my impression of the hotel, not was I about to let their unprofessionalism ruin my good impression of Oaks Cairns Hotel.
