The bed and pull out bed was extremely comfortable. Great linens/duvets as well. AC was useful on the day we were there. Having access to the luggage room when we had to leave our luggage a little longer was a wonderful convenience for us. Excellent service!

I highly recommend this hotel!! We stayed in for 13 nights and everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was varied but expensive. We had a problem at one of the rooms we booked and the reception took care of it quickly and smoothly. Parking is also really expensive. A bit of a walk to Mechelen station but the hotel is surrounded by many shopping stores and restaurants. Highly recommended and would stay again in the future!

The room was large but very dark and it needs updating. The shower had a dangerous step with no rail. It was difficult to exit without slipping. Also the shower was very small. We had to ask twice for the room to be serviced and the pillows were smelly!

Service and stay was excellent. Location is perfect, near fish market, shopping area and historic square. Staff is friendly and attentive. Refrigerator is helpful and you have both a kettle and Nespresso machine in the room. Better picture of the rooms on the website would be helpful. I upgraded to an “executive suite” because I saw a bathtub shower and find stepping over and into a bathtub cumbersome post knee injury. The shower in the executive suite still requires about an 18 centimeter step up. Small shower, be careful not to jam a finger in the shower door an it opens or closes. Anything that wasn’t perfect was due to poor design on the part of the architects who designed the rooms. It seemed that the HVac was not great but then I realized that the air conditioning worked well. The swinging doors on the shower room if left open provide extra light in the room and make late night trips to the sink easier and quieter. But the door will block the vent and the cool air behind the door surrounds the thermostat but doesn’t get to the guests so the air conditioner will shut down. Keep the bathroom door closed and the room will cool off nicely. The retractable vanity mirror was mounted so high that if you are 5 ft 5 or less you will be looking directly up at it. There are outlets on both sides of the bed which is great but not by the bathroom mirrors. The built in night stands were tiny so you can’t put much there in addition to your phone. Excellent overall

The room was dusty and looked unkempt. I couldn't boil water with the kettle because the inside of it was very dirty.
The air conditioner was blowing hot even when the weather was reading about 27 degrees Celsius! Yet, when I raised it, there was no solution that could be found. Sleeping at night was extremely difficult because of the heat.

No parking, but there was an underground garage literally underneath the hotel at 22 Euro / night. The front desk had a list of parking garages in the area, if you were willing to walk a bit, there were garages under 10 Euro / night. Parking on the streets is free overnight (I think from 2000-0800), but it's 5 Euro per 2 hours during the day and you can only get 2 hours at a time...so the smart move is to park in one of the garages the hotel recommends.
Other than that, the hotel was nice and clean, and the location was fantastic. It was a short walk to a couple great restaurants (we don't recommend Het Anker, we do recommend O'Fiach's), there's many to choose from. The main square is a short walk, with a huge church.

Unfortunately, the bathroom door was too close to the bed and almost touched the mattress when open. The door opened outward, so it had to be opened fully against the wall, in order to be able to walk in to the bathroom. The bathroom doors were also glass, so if you used the bathroom at night and your partner is trying to sleep, the bright light does not help!

Great room, modern and clean with a very comfortable bed. Bathroom with shower and bath with good water pressure and lots of hot water. Breakfast was average and over priced as where the prices in the bar, staff where fine, professional and polite but not overly friendly. Location is very good close to the main square but a bit of a walk from the train station down lots of cobbled streets.

Overall the Hotel is ok. However the staff is null. During breakfast there is no one to help or check if your breakfast is included or not. The breakfast is one of the worse breakfasts I ever had. After asking the reception if breakfast was included and getting yes as an answer I still had to pay for one of the days, in which breakfast was not included (but I did not know and no one told me). Finally, it has been almost two weeks and cannot get my invoice :/ I am really disappointed.

Clean, convenient for visiting Mechelen. We stayed at this hotel to visit ZOO Planckendael and so, we stayed there only for a night. But the location is perfect for visiting the central part of Mechelen as well.

Best Place To stay in Mechelen
We reached hotel early still they could provide us room. The zhotel has very gud ambience and I liked the mandatory card access to lifts and WC for security. Staff were wonderful. The Hotel is next to Match Supermarket for daily needs. This one reason I booked this place. Very quiet and kids friendly. But this Hotels breakfast menu is a bit on lowerside compared to other Novotel Hotels. Menu needs a makeover. Service is same. Overall 5* family experience. Will stay with them agai

I travelled with a friend to visit a specific museum in Mechelen. I otherwise wouldn't have visited Mechelen as I had never heard of it. I was very pleasantly surprised, Mechelen is a lovely little town not far from Brussels. Transport links in Belgium are very good. The shops, restaurants etc are lovely. We found the Belgium people to be extremely friendly and helpful. Would be an ideal weekend break location.

The hotel is a standard business hotel. Service was fine, space was fine, rooms where fine, bar was fine, food was fine. All fine, except... The bed was rock hard and each morning you wake with a back ache and can only just move. The pillows are like foam concrete (a first for me!) and they have no others you can ask for. The air-conditioning does not work and although is was only 4 degrees outside and the windows was wide open it never got below 22 degrees in the room. The bar and reception area have no fabric so everything echo's and even a soft whisper sounds like a sonic boom... I'll not be staying again as there are far better places to stay in the same area... It is \"fine\" though so don't let me put you off.

Typical Nocatel in a pleasant location.
This is a fairly typical Novatel with smart modern rooms (albeit without any obvious human touches in the design). I booked a superior room which was consequently quite large, with two wardrobes, a minibar, separate bathroom and toilet and the bathroom was equipped with a proper shower as well as a bath. The bed was very comfortable and a good size. WiFi was fast and free. Breakfast was not included but offered a good selection of warm and cold food. I also ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening and the food was good and at a reasonable price. Service was OK, but one of the bar staff gave the impression he was quite new and the coffee machines at breakfast both ran out of coffee. The hotel is close to a canal with open air bars so pleasant to walk around. Mechelen Station is about 15 minutes walk away.

So this is a really nice Hotel. Very friendly and attentive staff. The lobby area was awesome! They have Xbox' and Computers set up for guest use. A very modern look, clean everywhere, lobby, restaurant, and the room. I gave them a 4 stars only because they don't have their own parkings spots. However, there's one right next to it (16€ daily rate). Also, although it includes a European water warming kettle for tea and instant coffee, these are not my preference. So, I did took that into consideration for this review (again personal preference). Lastly, the room looks like it was made for a few persons only, as it looked cramped with the extra beds they set up for my daughters. Overall I will recommend it to my friends and will definitely stay here again!!

This hotel is located in the heart of Mechelen, a 15-minute walk from the train station. The lobby area is very attractive, and adjacent to a cocktail lounge, restaurant, lobby computer and an X-Box console. It's an easy walk to shopping and the bus stop. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included in our package was fabulous. It's buffet style, unlimited expresso-based drinks/hot chocolate, and the food offerings are plentiful, fresh and tasty. Mechelen is only a 15-minute train ride to Antwerp and 25 minutes to Brussels. I highly recommend this hotel if Belgium is your destination.

Hidden treasure of a town!
We did not find a hotel in Brugges so we opted for Mechelen- and what a find! It is so incredibly beautiful, and a bikers/walkers paradise! The hotel is uber modern and has an excellent breakfast and cafe. My kids lived the hotel with its video game and loft with complimentary snacks. I recommend this hotel without hesitation! The evening staff was really helpful- the morning guy seemed painfully shy so we didn't push for info- but we knew how to get to Brussels so it was fine!
