Bath towels were small and thin.
The buffet breakfast was varied, mainly cold items , but we were surprised that there were extra charges for certain breakfast items like an omelette or poached egg, but overall enjoyed the breakfast offering.

A lovely boutique hotel on the outskirts of the Old Town, the room and common areas were clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only critque is that it is located on a very quiet deadend road so approaching it at night it felt isolated....having said that, I would definetly stay here next time I return to Krakow.

Hotel Grodek is on a quiet side street right in the Krakow Old Town. It has lots of charm, each room and the hallways are carefully decorated. We liked that we could easily walk to most things, and were close to the lively old town square but were able to retreat to a quiet street away from the crowds.

After being on the phone with hotels.com for over an hour trying to get them to book us a new place and the outsourced phone operator not being able to do it I went ahead and booked Hotel Grodek on my own in a bout 2 minutes online. Hotels.com was supposed to pay for it because we were given a different apartment at another location that was a scam. There was a lot of confusion. Hotels.com did not pay for the 2 rooms we did, so we now paid for two separate places on our own because of hotels.com error. This was not the fault of Hotel Grodek but we went from a place that was supposed to be a 3 bedroom apartment to 2 very small hotel rooms. I think up to 2 adults could have a lovely time staying here, but it's not great for a family stay. Supposedly they had one bigger room but they were not willing to give to us unless we could pay even more of a fee. After all we had been through that night we were not willing to do that. This was only for 2 nights and is a totally acceptable stay in Krakow. Note: The receptionists were kind and helpful and tried to understand the confusion with hotels.com that is now also expedia and is not a good service anymore, but it just wasn't working. The shower is awful. The shower head does not stay up at all, but otherwise, it is a nice hotel for a short stay.

Hotel Grodek claims to be a 5-star hotel, so I will say at the outset that it does not have all the amenities you’d expect from a 5-star hotel: In particular, the rooms come only with an electric jug and instant tea/coffee sachets, not with a proper coffee machine, as you’d expect; the TV in the room offers only Polish programs and does not pick up a single foreign news station; and the offerings in the breakfast buffet are nothing to write home about. However, having said that, this hotel is still a delightful place to stay! The decor is charming and olde-worlde, with each room uniquely decorated. Our rooms were welcoming, comfortable and spotlessly clean, with very good beds and bedding and new, large, well-equipped bathrooms. The hotel is excellently located only a short walk from the main square in a quiet side street, which is a distinct advantage. And the staff are the hotel’s best asset - polite, kind and extremely helpful. I’d be happy to stay here again!
