we had a relaxing city break at this lovely modern design hotel with a beautiful swimming pool.
very central location, lots of affordable food options just outside the hotel.
room was spacious, bed was a DREAM!
a few things to know:
- hotel charges for EARLY check-in!
- sauna not included in the room cost
- no free upgrade available when I mentioned hotels.com/expedia gold status (tho rooms were not all booked up)
we would defo book again, location was great.

Really disappointing stay for New Year. We'd specifically booked this hotel, expecting a couple of days of relaxation. What we received was nothing other than what you would expect in a budget hotel (such as Holiday Inn), except the price tag!
The pool was unsafe, overcrowded and dirty. There are much nicer and more friendly and accomodating hotels in Brussels - stay away.

Not what we expected. While location is great and room design is as well, the noise disturbances from loud guests next door in the adjoining room (sound insulation is very poor) and when housekeeping was cleaning were the worst I've ever experienced. Security had to be called 3 times before they came to address the noise at 1AM. And the the guests picked back up their raucus partying at 4AM. The housekeeping attendant was unbothered when I explained we were sleeping as she was slamming things around during cleaning the next day. We also had to have our room keys reset 5 different times in 3 days and they were never kept near anything that could demagnetize them. For this price point, we expected a much smoother experience. Also we were surprised by the repair work to the hallway corridor where mildew and mold must smells were overwhelming. I understand these things happen but we should have been warned or that floor should be closed until the repairs were complete and the air quality improved.

We had an issue with a broken door lock and had to move rooms, which took some time and disrupted our sightseeing plans. However, the staff handled it well and were very apologetic and helpful. Overall, it was a good stay — the hotel is nice, the rooms are modern, and the staff were all kind. Special mention to the young gentleman working at the lobby who was always friendly and helpful whenever we passed by.

Unfortunately, the hotel felt quite cold and impersonal. Breakfast was okay, good quality food but lacked variety. Overall approach of staff felt very rigid with little flexibility. Simple requests were met with disdain. We were also unhappy with the lack of transparency around additional charges, as well as misleading claims regarding the access and availability of spa facilities.

Despite this hotel is clean and comfortable with large spacious rooms. The surrounding area also has a lot to offer; shopping, restaurants etc.

Room was great. Spacious and well decorated. Unfortunately our room was not cleaned throughout our whole stay. The cleaning lady came at 9am whilst we were still in bed. We asked her to come back a little while later, but nobody returned. However, this was a very minor detail & possible just a miscommunication. The rest of the stay was brilliant. Friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant Akai is a must try

The hotel was fantastoc. The rooms wefe especially impressive. The pool was loevly too! Breakfast great and staff friendly and efficient.
Location was perfect for accsessing the Xmas markets, shops and museums as well as the botanical gardens.
We walked there from Brussels midi train station and it was pretty much one attaight road.
Our only xritisism was not having proper cups or spoons to make tea in the room but we are big tea drinkers!

No responses to messages sent to the hotel during stay, no answer on phone, and there was noise coming from piping throughout the stay so not a good nights sleep. The front desk said this was from the air conditioning and an engineer would look into it but there was still noise, so I don’t think this was the case. There was no follow up and messages were sent to the property.

Really nice hotel. Good breakfast, superb pool. Decent ai lifts once you have mastered them - you select your floor outside and it tells you which lift. Really helpful Portuguese guy with long hair at ground floor reception who advised us on cheap restaurants we would never have found. Please please read the instructions if arriving by car. You cannot just pull up outside and sat nav takes you through tunnels way past the hotel. We parked illegally and my wife went inside to get directions to the underground car park. Bit of a nightmare but the room, staff and everything else was top quality. 12 minutes walk to Grand Place.

Amazing hotel - beautifully decorated and the room was a good size. We loved that the twin beds weren't pushed together like in most hotels and the amenities were great. The room controls were a bit complicated and didn't always work perfectly - there's nothing wrong with a TV remote and a light switch! The staff were all lovely and very polite and welcoming. We also loved the pool and the flavoured water in the lobby. All in all a great stay.

Very clean and smart room. The hi-tech features in the room to activate lights window blinds etc wasn’t working properly sometimes. But no major problem.
The gym is good. For a hotel gym I was very pleasantly surprised. Charging me €15 euros for a one hour late checkout left a slightly bitter taste.

What a beautiful experience. From the start-friendly staff, the room was amazing. Great food offered and beer at the bar with nice conversation from the bar staff. The roof top pool is top notch with a view of the city unlike others. Id highly recommend a massage also! 5 stars and cant fault it. Would I go back? You bet ya. Im sad to leave..

Eccentric decor mixed with a futuristic room experience makes for an interesting stay, one which I enjoyed. Only complaint was that the unpleasant woman in a hijab working the desk who checked me in gave me a room with a leaking sink, a problem which we was certainly aware of when she gave me that room, as the damage was extensive. Perhaps I didn’t look like the right type of client to be given a room with a working sink. Who knows? Thankfully when I brought the leaking sink to the attention of a different employee I was able to find a better room. Otherwise my experience was excellent.

This hotel is plush and ideally located around shops and food places. The ambiance is amazing, with a vibrant bar located in the lobby area and rooftop pool with 1 hour access! The only let down is the breakfast (not enough selection of food) and the bedroom amenities supply could be better! However I would choose this hotel again!!

Disappointing and cheap feeling

For a 4 star hotel, this was very disappointing. The rooms felt like I was sleeping in Ikea - cheap wooden boards, holes near the doors, echoey and just not comfortable. The “painting” on the wall was incredibly creepy. The electronic room features (meant to be “smart) meant simple tasks like lifting the room blinds or controlling the lights was a chore (it took me 20mins to figure out the system). The room was very dusty, and there was no noise isolation, so you could hear noise in both the corridor and outside. The pool, while pleasant, has to be pre booked and this is not mentioned in the hotel description, so I couldn’t actually use it until I checked out (and there were no dedicated changing facilities). Additionally, the restaurant was fully booked - so having booked the hotel hoping to use the facilities, I was unable to use them. Very disappointing - stay elsewhere.

Guest relation manager was racist, very rude. Checked in early, paid extra for the room, fridge wasn't working, no tea, sugar or coffee in the room and toiletries, wifi also wouldn't work.as advertise. Told front desk waited an hour no one show. Called guest services the person I spoke was very nice and said someone would come up and bring these. The maintenance guy came up. Said he can't fix the fridge and left. I then contacted guest services to complained, I asked to speak to the manager who was very rude and aggressive on the phone and told me well at least you have a bed to sleep on and that I don't have anything to complain about it I'm not happy go somewhere else and when I said that's very rude, what's your name she hang up the phone. I was very taking aback to be spoken to like that and for someone to be so rude and blatantly racist, tell me to go back to where I came from. The hotel itself is very nice and the rest of the staff was lovely.

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at the Cardo Hotel Brussels. The staff were so kind and helpful, which really made the experience stand out. The design of the hotel is gorgeous – modern, stylish, and full of personality. I loved the gym too; it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel, with plenty of space and great equipment. The location is perfect for getting around the city, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of fresh and tasty options. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and I’d come back in a heartbeat.

There are a lot of noises in the hallway mostly from cleaners dropping and sliding things and talking loud

Smelly elevators and the garbage bins in the hallway were full of garbages.

The coffee stock was not refreshed.

As a tea drinking Brit, please have milk and tea black bags in the room to go with the kettle. And please, Please, PLEASE put mugs or cups with handles in the room - the handle-less cups may look good but it’s impossible to hold anything hot. I’m surprised the hotel has not been sued for a scalding incident. Nb. The conference areas and restaurant have mugs with handles so why not the rooms - it makes no sense!!

There were limited food options available at the hotel. The nearby area appeared to lack safety measures. Streets contained noticeable amounts of litter and dirt. Loved this place. I went with a friend and asked for seperate beds. Our personal beds where really nice and comfy, not to small not too big.

Amazing hotel!

This hotel was incredible for the price. I walked in to the room and my mouth was agape - it was huge and super hi-tech and beautiful!! It was not in the best area of Brussels but the amenities and the room made up for it for the price! Plus the pool and the wraparound terrace on the 31st floor for the views!

Excellent Location, very central we walked to all the attractions including the Royal Palace you can see everything along the way. Lots shops and restaurants something for everyone. The indoor pool was heated and really nice at sunset (you have to book time slot with reception). The bar was nice we had few mocktails. Cant fault hotel would stay again. Noticed they gave free complimentary spa like item to customer checking in when we checked out…a little annoyed as did ask them to do something for husband’s bday which they didn't, even a note would’ve been nice. Or if you looked at passports you would’ve noticed the date these little touches would put your service at 5*. Can get a little noisy outside feels like its central route to all emergency services.

Great location but serious issues here

Firstly cold water in the room had issues w the pump meaning near scolding hot water for ages followed by freezing.

But the main issue is the air conditioning. It’s nothing short of diabolical.

There is only one air conditioning unit which is located by the window and pumps a very light stream of cold air directly over the bed.. specifically at the head end and seemingly just to cool your head?!

So I had one of the worst sleeps of all time in some 15 years of touring for business.

I was told by an engineer that they had taken a look and the room would be “like an ice box” but it wasn’t improved.. then a second person came and said that’s just how it works.. clearly the hotel is doing the usual European trick of trying to make as much money as possible and doing the very least to provide true air conditioning.

This design flaw is a serious problem. The hotel was extremely warm, all common areas clearly have little to no ventilation which i would actually say is dangerous in an emergency.

I slept maybe 3 hours, boiling hot with freezing cold head. I now have a running nose all day…

34 euros for breakfast is also extortionate.

The Cardo Brussels hotel is very convenient in terms of location and ability to navigate both tourist sites and restaurants - provided you're good with using the metro system...which we were.

A bit weird on the check-in as there is a \"greeter\" on the main floor who barely gave detail on where to go other than floor 2. Forgetting the ground 0 routine in Europe, we then took the escalator - which led nowhere until we did it again and got to floor two. A bit annoying.

Once settled, the room was very nice, comfortable and at the end of the hallway...generally good in terms of quiet. But there must have been high crimes during the time were were there as the sirens seem to go on-and-on. :) Had a difficult time dealing with the auto-shades to dim the room as well. It was as if there was a choice of full-on open or full-on black-out curtains but finding something in between was comical. Literally spent 5 minutes laughing and trying options.

Overall staff freindliness was great - they helped where needed and responded to questions about what to see, restaurants, etc..

Good value on the hotel as well. Given the closeness of metro, restaurants, tourist sites, etc. - alll easy walking distance or metro - the place is a good choice.

Food - the breakfast buffet was great. Akai was a disaster. Hotel basically disclaims any relation but says it's \"their\" restaurant. Crap service and atmosphere - playground for juveniles. Marriott needs to get a handle on this!!! Avoid at all cost.

This hotel is horrible!!
The check in is painfully slow, and check in desks empty whilst staff swan around doing nothing. And nothing says 'welcome' more than being treated like some kind of criminal at check in, and by that I mean making a big deal of charging a security deposit. I am not a thief and I object to be treated like one.
A hotel room should be somewhere you can relax, and this hotel fails miserably on that score. Its less comfort, more evil bat lair. Its dark and oppresive. There was a TV screen at the end of the bed which was massively imposing, and made being in the bed feel like being in a coffin.
Everything in the room is controlled by tablet & wall panel and made it all so much more complicated that necessary for no real benefit. I asked, via the tablet, if they could move the TV, but this request was ignored despite its placement being not just inappropriate, but outright dangerous as trying to work out which button to press for low level lights in the pitch dark was nigh on impossible.
The shower is style over substance. The design prevents water draining properly, so you are worried throughout that the bathroom is going to flood.
If you want somewhere to plot world domination by all means stay here, but if you are just looking for somewhere to relax then I would recommend finding somewhere else. I would rate it one of my worst hotel stays ever.

Lovely and personalised internal decoration. Quiet rooms. beautiful pool and sauna with views. Quick check in and check out. Weekends come with discounted price. Need to defrost the fridges as both rooms the fridges were faulty. Otherwise was a very nice stay!
